In episode 678, Megan Porta chats with McKenna Pulda, Emily Christensen, and Amy Coyne about how to successfully collaborate on a cookbook. McKenna Pulda is a former choir teacher turned sourdough enthusiast, recipe developer, and mom of two. After receiving her first sourdough starter 4 years ago, her love for baking quickly turned into a passion for creating delicious, from-scratch recipes with a sourdough twist. Since starting her blog, Simplicity and a Starter, in 2023, McKenna has shared 150+ tried-and-true sourdough recipes and also co-authored a cookbook, Our Sourdough Table, featuring long-fermented and quick sourdough recipes that are perfect for the holiday season. Emily is the creator and voice behind Country Roads Sourdough, where she shares tried-and-true sourdough bread and discard recipes, along with helpful sourdough tips and techniques. After leaving her corporate brand management career to become a stay-at-home mom, she quickly realized she needed a creative outlet and began hosting local sourdough classes. What started as a passion project quickly took off after a few viral Instagram videos—turning her love for sourdough into a full-time career. Amy Coyne is a sourdough teacher, recipe developer, and mom to four awesome kiddos. She has grown her website over the last two years from 100K pageviews in 2022 to almost 10 million pageviews at the end of 2024. She shares tried-and-true sourdough recipes on her website and with her Instagram and social media communities. Summary & Takeaways In this episode, you'll learn how to coordinate writing a collaborative cookbook, from deciding who to collaborate with to how to create a cohesive look and boost sales through social media marketing. Key points discussed include: - Who to collaborate with: Emily reached out to Amy and McKenna via Instagram DMs because they had similar followings and vibes. - Deciding on a niche: The group decided to focus on holiday sourdough recipes, filling a unique niche. - Maintaining a cohesive look: They coordinated photography styles, using neutral colors and backgrounds, even reshooting existing blog photos to align. - Organization and book cover design: The group used Google Docs to organize recipes by category and Canva to create the cookbook layout. - In-person retreat: The group had a working weekend at an Airbnb to photograph recipes, proofread, and plan marketing strategies. - Choosing a self-publishing platform: They selected Lulu for its print-on-demand service, quality, payment splitting, and worldwide printing locations. - Marketing strategies: The group conducted live bake-alongs and created weekly Instagram reels to promote the cookbook. - Customer service: The team helped customers with order issues, but also realized the limitations of print-on-demand, since they didn't have the actual product or shipping control. - The power of collaboration: Working together helped them grow their followings, build lasting friendships, and create a product that they loved. Hello, creators and food enthusiasts! Today, I'm thrilled to share with you my recent interview with my friend, Megan Porta, the creative force behind Pip and Ebby and the Eat Blog Talk podcast. We dove into the evolving world of food blogging and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead in 2024. Embracing Change and Innovation As we step into the new year, the landscape of food blogging is shifting. Join My Blogger Genius Email List Become a Blogger Genius Facebook Group All Blogger Genius Podcast Episodes Subscribe to the Blogger Genius Podcast: iTunes Stitcher YouTube Spotify The Power of Creativity in Food Blogging Megan and I discussed the importance of creativity in the food blogging space. With challenges like AI and changes in search algorithms, food bloggers must think outside the box to monetize and drive traffic. From ebooks to cooking classes, the possibilities are endless. Megan's mastermind group is already buzzing with innovative ideas, proving that creativity is key to staying ahead. Leveraging Platforms Like Pinterest Despite the frustrations many have with Pinterest, it remains a valuable platform for food bloggers. The visual nature of food content makes Pinterest a potential goldmine for traffic. Consistency and a long-term strategy are crucial, and if you notice a particular type of content performing well, such as videos, it's time to double down on that approach. The Third-Party Cookie Conundrum The removal of third-party cookies by Chrome in 2024 is a hot topic. While it may change how advertisers interact with ad networks, it's important not to approach this shift with fear. Instead, be curious and informed. Ad networks like Raptive are exploring new technologies to maintain ad relevance and value, ensuring that the right ads reach the right audience while respecting privacy. Mindset Matters One of the most powerful takeaways from our conversation is the significance of mindset. Rather than succumbing to fear about the future, embrace curiosity and excitement for the opportunities that change brings. AI, for instance, isn't something to be feared but a tool to be harnessed for idea generation, writing enhancement, and keyword research. The Summit for Advanced Food Bloggers Megan and her colleague Melissa are organizing a summit specifically for advanced food bloggers, creating a space for collaboration and support. Using MiloTree Cart, they've set up an effortless payment and sales page system for the event, showcasing the ease with which digital products and services can be offered. Selective Learning and Growth As we navigate the food blogging community, it's essential to be selective about where we get our information and support. Surround yourself with positivity and a growth-oriented mindset. If you're interested in learning more about the summit, our podcasts, or how to leverage MiloTreeCart for your business, be sure to check out the links provided. The future of food blogging is bright for those willing to innovate and adapt. By embracing new tools, platforms, and strategies, we can continue to thrive in this dynamic industry. Launching Her First Workshop Natasha's experience hosting her first paid workshop was a significant milestone in her journey. After the success of her ebook, she decided to expand her offerings and create workshops to provide more value to her audience. She put in effort to plan and deliver a high-quality workshop, and the results were impressive. Hosting her one-hour live workshop, she made over $400. The "B-minus Work" Concept Natasha was initially skeptical and nervous about setting up and delivering the workshop. However, she found comfort in my concept of "B-minus work," where it's okay to not strive for perfection but still deliver above-average content. This mindset relieved the pressure of having a perfect setup and allowed Natasha to use her phone and computer to create her workshops. Future Opportunities Natasha expresses her desire to host another workshop due to its success in terms of sales and positive feedback. She contemplates starting a membership program, inspired by another guest on the podcast who offered a membership for $18. The Importance of Experimentation Jillian emphasized the importance of experimentation and seeking feedback from her audience. She praised Natasha for her inspiring work and expressed her excitement at her progress and future goals. The Unexpected Success Natasha shares her excitement about the growth of her blog and her ability to invest in essential tools and courses. I recently published episode 705 of The Cliff Ravenscraft Show where I invited my great friend, Megan Porta, to have a conversation about our experiences with manifesting success and turning our dreams into reality. We included "The Law of Attraction" in the title. The feedback that has come in from that episode has been incredible. Most of the feedback was along the lines of surprise that I, Cliff Ravenscraft, am a strong believer in "The Law of Attraction." One person wrote that she was blown away when she heard that I enjoy the teachings of Abraham Hicks, telling me that she, herself, has been "a closet Abraham Hicks fan" for many years. I've received so many questions, requesting more insight about how the Law of Attraction works. I have also received a large number of emails from people who have grown up from a similar faith tradition, where they have felt drawn to learn more about the Law of Attraction, but fear how they would be perceived by others if anyone found out that they were studying it. They wanted to know how I, given how far I was into the Protestant, Evangelical, Fundamentalist worldview, was introduced to the Law of Attraction and how I overcame the warnings that this community has given against such study. I decided to take all my years of notes on the Law of Attraction and everyone's questions that I have received, and I created an evergreen resource in the form of a full Law of Attraction Workshop. This podcast is the full audio recording of that workshop. In this episode, I mentioned the link http://awakening.cliffravenscraft.com and I also told you that I'd include my email address, cliff@cliffravenscraft.com. I'd love for you to email me and let me know your thoughts on this episode.
I'm so excited to share this episode with you! I had the pleasure of being joined by my good friend Megan Porta. As an experienced entrepreneur in the food blogging space, Megan brings a wealth of knowledge. And like me, she has a passion for the topics of manifestation and the Law of Attraction. In this episode, Megan and I give an overview of what manifestation and the Law of Attraction are all about. We share some of our own personal stories of times we've successfully manifested things into our lives. Megan and I have seen the power of intention and positive thinking. We dive into tips and insights for being more deliberate and effective at manifesting your desires. This includes getting clear on your goals, detaching from the outcome, taking aligned action, and maintaining positive energy. Megan and I both agree that manifesting with intention takes dedication and consistency. But with practice, it can absolutely transform your life experience. A highlight from this episode was sharing our top two favorite takeaways from the classic book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. The teachings from this book formed a foundational understanding the basics of the Law of Attraction philosophy. Key lessons include the power of desire, faith, autosuggestion, and having a definite purpose. To wrap up an enlightening conversation, Megan and I each share the most important lesson we've learned so far on our entrepreneurial journeys. I'm so grateful to Megan for joining me and I know you'll love this manifestation-focused episode! Remember, you have the power to intentionally shape your life through focused thought. So many people outside of our industry hear the worlds “blogger”, “influencer”, or “social media creator” and have their own assumptions about what our job entails. But, what those people on the outside don't know is that our job is so much more: It's putting ourselves out there for the apps to bully - whether that's by the app itself or by the people using them. The effects that working in social media full-time can have on our mental health are truly just so real and valid. This is why self-care is so important. Focusing on self-care can actually help make you more money. Today, we're here with Megan Porta, a food blogger and the host of Eat Blog Talk podcast. She has an extensive history with not living a balanced life which has set her on a path of constant improvement in that area. We're diving into everything you need to know about making sure you're taking care of yourself and your mental health as a creator AND how it can actually help you make MORE money in your business.

In 2022, the podcast industry is expected to grow at an exponential rate. The use of audio in the food blogging space to speak your message and connect with your audience is underrated, underutilized and overlooked. Now is the time to get on board with audio! Listen in on this Clubhouse recording where a handful of food bloggers discuss using audio to speak their messages in a profound way. - Brand recognition - Reach people “beyond the blog” to expand brand awareness. - People - The people you will meet in your journey with audio will allow for so much opportunity. - The unexpected - People connect with the human voice more than with written voice. When you put your actual voice out into the world, you never know who is connecting with you. Unexpected favor and opportunities will come your way. - There is currently very little competition in the food and recipe niche for podcasts. This is such a great way to separate yourself from your competition!

In this episode, Megan talks through her top 10 takeaways after attending her first in-person blogging conference since the pandemic (over 2 years ago!). In-person gatherings are super valuable for entrepreneurs who “go it alone” most of the time. They are imperative for growth, connection and so much more. - Connecting with people in person is EVERYTHING. - Investing in yourself and your business needs to be a priority. - The amount of self-educating we've done collectively since the pandemic started is incredible and that was evident at the conference. - Collaboration is way cooler than competition. There's room for every single person to shine in their unique way. - Doing scary things is scary, yes, but the rewards far outweigh the fears. - Join us in the episode for the remaining 5 takeaways!

If you've ever heard the story about how the famous Wall Drug got started, you know that business success can be as simple as delivering ice water to thirsty people. This simple concept applies to every single one of our businesses: find the pain point and deliver the solution with a spirit of service and with no expectations! - Survey your audience regularly. - Spend time truly tuning into what is said within groups focusing on your niche. - Utilize social media polls. - Get on the phone. - Think as simply as possible. - Get quiet.
This secret formula, when followed, will produce “success” for you! Listen in for inspiration! Step 1: Have a deep understanding of what you want. Tap into emotion to figure out what this is. Step 2: Employ discipline. Take the steps you need to take, even if they are hard or uncomfortable. Step 3: Be consistent. Repeat, repeat and repeat the things that need to be repeated. Over time, small consistent steps turn into big, powerful, magical successes.
