Kris and David ARE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!! with the main show, and we are making up for lost time with our Patreon picks, so this week we are discussing the (almost)-week that was March 24-29, 1998, a show that was requested by BTS Patron Michael Otts with his $25 pledge. Topics of discussion include:Wrestlemania XIV in Boston, featuring Mike Tyson as a ringside enforcer for the Steve Austin vs. Shawn Michaels main event. On this absolutely huge episode of Make Pro Wrestling Majestic Again, we tackle a very important question, maybe one of the most important in all of wrestling: if someone has only seen a few clips online, how do you introduce them to pro wrestling the right way? Not with a giant supercard, not with cherry-picked matches, not with a history lecture that puts them to sleep — sad! We're talking about the best way to hook a total beginner by showing them one full weekly TV episode, start to finish, from within the last year, and making the case for your favorite company the right way.We cover WWE, TNA, NXT, AEW/ROH, Lucha Libre AAA, NJPW, and NWA, and we do it by the rules: no using other promotions to make your favorite look better, no pay-per-views, no premium live events, no deep-cut nerd talk, no cherry-picking just the best match. Just one episode, one brand, one chance to make a new fan. Very high stakes. Tremendous challenge. We also run through a loaded week in wrestling news: TNA's restructuring and workforce reduction, including the departures of Tommy Dreamer and Tessa Blanchard, Dreamer's emotional comments about mutually parting ways, Blanchard committing fully to CMLL, and reports that TNA is working toward a deal with OVW to create a developmental pipeline. We also discuss the deaths of Eddie Andelman, the Boston media figure credited with creating WWE's King of the Ring as a charity event, and longtime WWF enhancement talent Pete Doherty, the Duke of Dorchester. On the WWE side, we look at reported creative changes following Rhea Ripley's knee injury, including a reshuffling of plans in the SmackDown women's division and her removal from Night of Champions promotional material. And in AAA, we talk about the return of Perros del Mal, as Daga, Angel Garza, Berto, Bronco Nima, and Karmen Petrovic attacked El Grande Americano after he set his sights on Dominik Mysterio's AAA Mega Championship.Big question. Big debate. Big wrestling energy. If you've ever wanted to create a new fan, this is the episode.Visit our website ➡️➡️➡️ https://www.majesticproduction.com/Watch our full podcast here ➡️➡️➡️ anchor.fm/majestic-production

John Orlando from the PVDCast and Gerald Glassford from the Pop Culture Cosmos climb back into the ring for this special look at pro wrestling history with one of the most famous (or infamous) organizations ever in World Championship Wrestling. Check in as the guys go over the bright spots and low spots, the highs and lows, and the good and bad from the memories of what at one time was the #2 wrestling company behind WWE, and for 83 weeks, even surpassing the corporate giant in the ratings battle of the Monday Night Wars. They go over the most memorable matches and events from WCW as they evolved (and devolved) from their beginnings, taking over the NWA and Jim Crockett Promotions to their demise and subsequent swallowing up by Vince McMahon in the early 2000s. It's a classic pro wrestling look at one of the most memorable times ever for hardcore wrestling fans, as John Orlando and Gerald Glassford take a look back at WCW on a special State of Pro Wrestling on the PCC Multiverse!Gear up with your favorite Pop Culture Cosmos shirts and gifts in our TeePublic store at https://www.teepublic.com/user/pop-culture-cosmos.Questions for us? NWA Wrestling's Pretty Boy Smooth pulls into the Krazy Train and Jasmin St. Claire wastes absolutely no time getting to what makes this man tick — because the Urban Playboy persona is sharp, the in-ring work is undeniable, and the story behind how a kid from Hempstead, New York went from college basketball at Hofstra to Mercyhurst to sitting ringside at a local indie show and deciding he wanted to be a wrestler instead of a referee is exactly the kind of origin story this podcast was built for. Smooth breaks down his training under multiple coaches including EC3 — who brought him directly into the NWA — the locker room culture that makes the NWA different, the move to Comet TV and what that platform means for the promotion's reach, and how a nickname he carried in real life became the Urban Playboy character that's turning heads on national television.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

New new free shows will be back very soon, but remember that we've been back doing weekly content on our Patreon page for a while during the free show hiatus, covering the Jerry Lawler/Stacy Carter 2001 WWE departure and eventual divorce, the WWE Network launch, and the "Clique Curtain Call." We're also starting an in-depth series on TNA getting cancelled by Spike TV and Destination America this week, which promises to be epic. In the meantime, though, here's the unreleased episode from three months ago. Will episode #544 ever be fully re-edited and re-released? We don't know. But enjoy episode #545, which is new to everyone!Kris and David (from three months ago) are back (three months ago) as we discuss the week that was February 28-March 6, 1989. Topics of discussion include:The possibility of state athletic commissions getting more involved with regulation of pro wrestling thanks to Vince McMahon testifying that they were "sports entertainment" in New Jersey.Ric Flair re-upping his contract with the NWA for three more years as the promotion is undergoing a major overhaul in every way, but not necessarily in the most positive ways.Talk of the NWA's TV product needing major changes, especially in production and overall quality.Giant Baba's questionable booking of Ricky Steamboat when he comes over as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, as well as the original plans for the NWA Champion on this tour.A great look at Stampede Wrestling from this time period, with Ed Whalen and Bulldog Bob Brown on commentary, Brown getting involved way too much, the "retirement" of Dynamite Kid, and the greatness of Lethal Larry Cameron.Invader #1 returning to action in WWC after being acquitted on all charges in the Bruiser Brody murder case.Terry Funk's insane promo from FCW TV.Bill Dundee taking over the book in Continental and Steve Beverly shares his thoughts on what needs to be done better in that territory.Lance Russell's final TV show on WMC before leaving for the NWA…sort of, because it doesn't actually feature Lance, and we explain why that happened. The same show also featuring the debut of Ronnie P. Gossett, who causes lots of chaos before he meets Jerry Lawler.Eric Embry finding a way to get back in a World Class ring at the expense of referee Harold T. Jasmine Hudson, co-founder of Black Paper Party, is living proof that it's possible. In this episode of I Am Northwest Arkansas®, host Randy Wilburn welcomes Jasmine back for a candid and wide-ranging conversation about entrepreneurship, representation, and what growth really looks like when you refuse to compromise your values. Harris.Larry Zbyszko talking about being the real world champion on AWA TV.Ted DiBiase revealing the Million Dollar Belt on WWF TV.All of this and so much more on a solid episode of BTS!!!Timestamps:0:00:00 Regulation0:27:34 NWA/WCW0:53:28 Int'l: AJPW, NJPW, AJW, Stampede, All-Star/Tomko, EMLL, Torreon, & WWC1:29:49 Classic Commercial Break1:33:22 Halftime (from three months ago)2:16:48 Other USA: ICW (Savoldi), FCW, Fuller/Polk ECHL team, Continental, CWA/Memphis, WCCW, AWA, POWW, WWA/Geigel, & Portland3:31:53 WWFTo support the show and get access to exclusive rewards like special members-only monthly themed shows, go to our Patreon page at Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets and become an ongoing Patron. A producer, a writer, a ringside commentator, a manager, and, to be fair, probably about a dozen or more contributions to the world of wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance. Before he ever wrote an article or produced a talent, he was a fan.Paul is very candid about the National Wrestling Alliance and discusses his point of view both as an employee of the NWA and as a fan. Paul has made several appearances on our weekly pre-party live stream. The National Wrestling Alliance airs its weekly program POWERRR, on Saturdays at 4 PM Eastern and Pacific, with a midnight replay.
Dan Rankine (aka 'trials') was the only little Aboriginal boy living in his rural Welsh village when he woke up shaking from a nightmare. That's when he and his mother knew they needed to go home to Adelaide.Dan is now one of Australia's most respected hip hop producers, writers and rappers.Born in Adelaide, Dan spent his early years on the other side of the world - in the rolling, green hills of rural Wales - with his mum, who had fled there from Dan's violent father in the middle of the night.Far from his Ngarrindjeri connections, and with no one around who looked like him, Dan felt isolated. After an unexplained nightmare, he and his mum decided to move back to Adelaide, where things didn't suddenly become perfect. But a car crash, which could have been tragic, became an incredible turning point in Dan's life, allowing him to buy his first set of turntables. And at 16 years old, Dad set himself on the path to becoming 'trials', performing, writing and producing with and for artists like the Funkoars, Hilltop Hoods, Archie Roach and A.B. Original.Dan has recently stepped out on his own, to release his debut solo album Hendle - something of an origin story, full of honesty, pain and passion.Hendle is out now. The Southern Six is in shambles. Even before Kerry Morton turned his back on Silas Mason during his NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship Match, signs were starting to show during the Crockett Cup. Although Morton and Taylor won the 2024 Crockett Cup, they were unable to advance to the semi-finals of the 2026 Tournament. Taylor became a regular for the National Wrestling Alliance in 2021, where he instantly became a player for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship. After a stint in the tag team, The Ill Begotten, Taylor would find brotherhood in the Land Down Under, becoming the cornerstone of the Southern Six. 2024 would be one of the most successful years for Taylor in the NWA, winning the Crockett Cup Tournament with Kerry Morton and later winning the World Junior Heavyweight Championship by defeating Joe Alonzo. Taylor would obtain more gold again with partner Morton when they won the NWA US Tag Team Championships from the Country Gentlemen. In this interview, Jay Cal and Alex Taylor discuss wrestling in the Volunteer State, Taylor's start in the Black and Brave Academy, the greatness that is Jeremiah Plunkett, and their kinship with Danny Dealz. On this episode, Tony Schiavone takes us back to one of the most explosive periods in Jim Crockett Promotions history! After being reprimanded by NWA President Bob Geigle, United States Champion Magnum T.A. snaps and attacks the president, setting off a chain of events that leads to Magnum being stripped of the U.S. Title. The fallout paves the way for one of wrestling's most legendary rivalries as Magnum T.A. and Nikita Koloff are placed on a collision course in their iconic Best-of-Seven Series. Plus, Tony breaks down the infamous rules of the Rock 'n' Roll Express Super Summer Sizzler Tour—an unforgettable moment that wrestling fans still talk about today. Then, it's the rivalry that defined a generation as Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes continue their battle for supremacy, while the shocking return of Ole Anderson adds another layer of intrigue to the NWA landscape. SummaryInnovation isn't a lightning bolt, it's a process. That's the message threaded throughout the latest episode of the Startup Junkies podcast, where Eva Fast, director of the University of Arkansas MSPI program, joined hosts Daniel Koonce and Caleb Talley for a deep dive into product innovation, entrepreneurial mindsets, and the realities behind those famed “aha” moments.Drawing from her upbringing in Kenya and extensive academic career, Eva breaks the myth that innovation is a singular, sudden event. Instead, she describes it as a gradual journey shaped by diverse perspectives and continuous exposure to new ideas. Her research, inspired by Steven Johnson's "Where Good Ideas Come From," reveals that creativity blossoms over time and thrives within vibrant networks.Listeners will hear how the MSPI program acts as a bridge, connecting technical, business, and human elements to equip students for both startup ventures and corporate innovation roles. Whether you're a hands-on entrepreneur or an aspiring intrapreneur, the program's structure, mentorship, and hands-on challenges offer room for all innovation styles.Eva also spotlights the rising influence of AI, sharing how tools are accelerating everything from MVP launches to capstone projects. The conversation closes with practical advice: be curious, take action, and never underestimate the value of diverse experiences. For those craving real perspectives on what it takes to move from idea to impact, this episode is a must-listen.
