For this special REPLAY episode, Angela welcomes back Dr Neil Paulvin back to the show, to talk about the latest in longevity science and transformational therapies - including biohacks such as spermidine, how to reverse our biological age, NAD and peptides - as well as much, much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Women need progesterone and oestrogen for muscle building and brain health, cognition, energy and more. Recent research has suggested that delaying menopause may work to serve health in these terms. The key to longevity and long term health lies in the "Core 4" - sleep, exercise, diet and stress management. Circadian rhythm in particular can markedly affect the immune system. For women in their forties, the decade in age itself is one of the busiest. Families are being raised if they've had children, career demands are at an all-time high. Energy demands are very high, and hormonal disruption is taking place. Mitochondrial health is crucial. SS31 was founded by two scientists and hangs on the inner membrane of the mitochondria, and has been found to be a very good antioxidant. It also has been found to have an anti-inflammatory component, and can help with tendonitis. BEST MOMENTS 'When we look at menopause, it brings with it potential adversities in terms of health' 'Sleep is when we recycle our hormones and increase the number of hormones we need' 'This has the most hallmark checks of any product in the world' 'I do believe in higher doses of both to get the real benefit of it' VALUABLE RESOURCES Get a free snapshot of your health and personalised report at www.yourtotalhealthcheck.com Join The High Performance Health CommunityFree Fasting Guide - www.angelafosterperformance.com/fastingPodcast Shownotes - www.angelafosterperformance.com/podcasts ABOUT THE GUEST Dr. Neil Paulvin is a multiple board-certified physician with certifications in Family Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulation, and Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. Angela presents a bitesize alongside Neil Paulvin, in which they discuss the benefits of mitochondrial peptides, specifically MOTC, SS31, and Eumannan. These peptides work on reading frames within the mitochondria, initially thought to be beneficial for aging and mitochondrial health, but now linked to other advantages. However, availability of these peptides varies by country, with the US having more accessibility compared to the UK. KEY TAKEAWAYS MOTC, SS31, and Eumannin are mitochondrial peptides that have been linked to various health benefits, including anti-aging, improved mitochondrial health, increased energy, and anti-inflammatory effects. MOTC works on AMPK, an energy chemical hormone in the body, and can simulate exercise, making it beneficial for workouts. It also improves insulin sensitivity and induces mitochondrial biogenesis. SS31 is a potent antioxidant and has shown potential in improving heart function and helping patients with heart failure. It may also be used for tendinopathy and tendinitis. Eumannin is less studied compared to MOTC and SS31 but has shown potential benefits for osteoporosis, muscle building, infertility, and PCOS. BEST MOMENTS "MOTC does a lot of things… It's kind of like getting a workout without doing it." "SS31… has many more studies… It's really been shown to help improve heart function." "Peptides are very hard to find… I've had patients who come here on trips will get a vial when they went because it's legal here versus where they're coming from." Jim Donnelly is the CEO and founder of Restore Hyper Wellness, a company focused on "making hyper wellness affordable and accessible for more people." He is a serial entrepreneur and a highly experienced leader with a passion for helping others. Six or seven years ago he found himself training for a triathlon and, after a friend suggested cryotherapy, he decided to try it out, but was unhappy with the experience-putting it mildly! He thought he could do it better, and he certainly has! They began adding other medical modalities (they offer 10 currently), have 165 locations open, a corporate office with 200 employees, 700 more stores on a development schedule, and a $140 million dollar investment by General Atlantic partners to top it off! Part of their success stems from the fact that they've been very selective about their franchisees. They're continuing to aggressively expand with a new store opening every three to four days (as of this recording.) He states, "We've created a national infrastructure. We do it better than anybody else. We manufacture our own equipment. We're super excited about our place as the leader in this space. And our mission is to make hyper wellness affordable and accessible for more people so they can do what they love to do . . . I'm a much, much better entrepreneur today because of all of those things, including some of the failures. And I would say my superpower is that I'm self aware, I'm pretty egoless and I love bringing in people to help me." In this episode, Pete and Jim discuss: 1. What strategies they used from the beginning to ensure they had the right franchisees in place. 2. What procedures they've implemented to help them become the leader in the hyper wellness category. 3. How partnering with a private equity firm allowed Restore to make targeted, strategic investments and help them "control their own destiny." Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) has been used for years for patients dealing with opioid abuse or alcohol use disorders. As a side benefit, doctors also noticed that it helped with some immune issues, weight loss, and inflammation. Over time, LDN protocols have been developed for use in autoimmune and other conditions, and they've shown numerous benefits with minimal side effects.Dr. Paulvin is an innovative physician in the study of Functional Medicine, Integrative Sports Medicine, Regenerative medicine, Osteopathic Manipulation, and Craniosacral Therapy. He works with patients to not only treat but find the root cause of autoimmune issues, thyroid and hormone imbalances, digestive and gut disorders, and several inflammatory-based conditions. Uniquely combining Osteopathic Manipulation and Functional Medicine to fast-track healing, recovery, and biomechanics to progress athleticism. Synergistically utilizing eastern and western medicine, lab testing and reviews, lifestyle wellness, and manual therapy to treat injuries, inflammation patients, and optimizers are set on their path quicker. In this conversation, Dr. Paulvin and I talk about why he was motivated to explore alternative treatments, how LDN works and when it's used, factors that go into dosage decisions, the benefits and side effects of LDN for people with autoimmune conditions, when peptides are used, the widespread misinformation around peptides, and more. Feeling exhausted, having difficulty breathing, experiencing brain fog, and having trouble sleeping are just some of the symptoms of Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia. In fact, because of this episode with Lexi, I've brought all the peptides mentioned into my own clinic. Lexi explains what happens during the weeks you start using peptides. Quotes “I think starting off with some injectables, like a neurotoxin, is a good place to start. But really, I think finding an injector who's going to be 100% honest with you and is not going to overdo it or upsell it. I always say: look, if their face looks crazy, you're about to look crazy, too.” [4:08] “Cycling the peptides is smart. Take them three to four months, then take four to six weeks off, then restarting them.” [14:24] “I do think Prolon is a great addition to any integrative anti-aging medicine practice. Staying up-to-date on what's current and best practices, collaborating with like-minded individuals is key. I think it's the whole package: its diet, gut health, nutrition, sleep, lifestyle. All these cool peptides are just ways to make your quality of life better and help you get the most out of life. That's really what the goal is.” [24:23] In This Episode How to prevent the need for a facelift later in life [1:30] How to use peptides for weight loss [5:00] What happens when you start taking peptides [7:00] What peptides are best for anti-aging [16:15] Other ways to increase your libido [21:30] Links & Resources Use Code BERBERINE for 10% Off Berberine Support Find Alexis Yoo Online Follow Alexis Yoo on Instagram | Facebook Find Your Longevity Blueprint Online Follow Your Longevity Blueprint on Instagram | Facebook | Twitter | YouTube | LinkedIn Get your copy of the Your Longevity Blueprint book and claim your bonuses here Find Dr. Stephanie Gray and Your Longevity Blueprint online Follow Dr. Stephanie Gray on Facebook | Instagram | Youtube | Twitter | LinkedIn Integrative Health and Hormone Clinic Podcast Production by the team at Counterweight Creative Related Episodes Episode 44: Prolon: The Fast Mimicking Diet With Dr. James Kelley Episode 39: Biote Hormone Pellet Therapy With Dr. Gary Donovitz Episode 48: Peptides, Nootropics, And Pain Reduction With Dr. Neil Paulvin
Dr. Neil Paulvin and I speak all about the coolest things in the biohacking and health space including nootropics, peptides, senolytics and light therapy. Your skin changes as you age. It's inevitable, something we all experience. But if you don't love the aging process of your skin, it is possible to slow it down. Alexis Yoo is here to talk about her love of treating aging skin and how to use neuromodulators such as botox and PDO threads to heal skin imperfections and slow down the aging process. Avoid These After Getting Threads or Fillers Sleeping on your side or stomach Dental work for at least two weeks Eating crunchier foods About Alexis Yoo Alexis Yoo is a double board-certified nurse practitioner in the areas of family and pediatric medicine. She qualified as a nurse practitioner in 2011. She has a bachelor's degree in nursing from Purdue University and a Master's from IUPUI as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of the Institute for Functional Medicine and the American Academy of Anti Aging Medicine. The Reality of Aging Skin Alexis Yoo shares what got her started loving treating aging skin. What actually happens to our skin as we age? Lexi breaks down the process of aging skin, highlighting specific parts of the face that show fine lines, deeper lines, and wrinkles. Some lines have obvious causes, such as smoking or smiling, but others are simply due to getting older. Many people choose to use BioTe hormone pellets, neuromodulators like Botox, or other fillers, as well as PDO threads to help slow the aging process. These are some of Lexi's most requested services and she loves to help women feel good in their skin again. Many people choose to use neurotoxins, such as BioTe, Botox, or other fillers, to help reduce their lines. It's one of Lexi's most requested services and she loves to help women feel good in their skin again. The Difference Between Fillers and Threads The reality is that filler products are not safe for everyone to use. And they're not without their side effects. However, Lexi says that that's why it's so important to seek out a qualified aesthetics practitioner who can recommend products and knows what to do if a risk occurs. Lexi actually prefers to use threads, which are a different type of skin improvement. She explains the different types and how they're used - it doesn't sound for the faint of heart but don't worry: you won't feel any pain! In fact, Lexi says that using threads reduces the need for fillers. Rather than needing four or five injections, with threads, you're only likely to need one or two fillers. Threads are a safer, non-toxic way to improve the appearance of your lines and wrinkles. Do you have lines and wrinkles you wish weren't as prominent? Have you been thinking about getting filler injections? Call the Integrative Health and Hormone Clinic today and schedule your first appointment at 319-363-0033. Quotes “What's so cool about aesthetics, like peptides, is that it's ever-evolving. You always want to stay ahead of the curve. I think that's why women like coming to me because they're like, ‘Lexi will fix it. Tell her what bothers you and she'll fix it.'” [5:18] “When we talk about the aging process, the two biggest things are loss of collagen and the loss of fat pads. We lose the plumpness in our face.” [12:55] “The coolest thing is when you do threads, they don't need as much filler. You're helping smooth out some of that uneven red. I call it a liquid facelift. Instead of putting four or five syringes in someone's face, they only need one or two. The threads did most of the work.” [37:46] In This Episode What happens to our skin as we age [8:45] The reality of using neurotoxins [13:15] Some of the neurotoxin products Lexi uses [16:00] A few of the risks associated with fillers [27:00] The different types of threads and how they work [30:00] Combining fillers with threads [37:30] Links & Resources Use Code MAGNESIUM for 10% Off Use Code ENERGY for 10% Off Mitochondrial Complex Find Alexis Yoo Online Follow Alexis Yoo on Instagram | Facebook Find Your Longevity Blueprint Online Follow Your Longevity Blueprint on Instagram | Facebook | Twitter | YouTube | LinkedIn Get your copy of the Your Longevity Blueprint book and claim your bonuses here Find Dr. Stephanie Gray and Your Longevity Blueprint online Follow Dr. Stephanie Gray on Facebook | Instagram | Youtube | Twitter | LinkedIn Integrative Health and Hormone Clinic Podcast Production by the team at Counterweight Creative Related Episodes Episode 44: Prolon: The Fast Mimicking Diet With Dr. James Kelley Episode 39: Biote Hormone Pellet Therapy With Dr. Gary Donovitz Episode 48: Peptides, Nootropics, And Pain Reduction With Dr. Neil Paulvin

What Exactly Peptides Are Dr. Paulvin begins by explaining what exactly peptides are and how they’re used to improve our health and longevity. Peptides are beneficial to so many different aspects of our health. Anxiety and depression benefit particularly, because of the connection between the gut and our mental health. It’s possible to use peptides in combination with your prescription medication as well, Dr. Paulvin explains. His method is to use a lower peptide dosage and go slow - it’s better to be cautious. As we age, our thymus gland activity reduces. This is one of the reasons we should supplement with peptides - to help boost our immune system. You can also use peptides for weight loss. Dr. Paulvin provides some examples of how this, too. Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Inflammation As you can see, peptides have a role in our health and longevity. Dr. Paulvin explains what mitochondrial dysfunction is and how we can use supplements and antioxidants to improve it. Dr. Paulvin talks about the antioxidant he uses, including Nrf2 and PQQ, and some of the administration methods. He shares how to use each of these methods, including his preferred method of IV treatment. Finally, Dr. Paulvin explains how inflammation impacts our overall health and longevity. It’s essential we control our body’s inflammation using the methods he describes. Dr. Paulvin also recommends improving your mobility to reduce your inflammation and pain levels. Quotes “Peptides can be combined with prescription medication. I’d rather patients go with lower doses and go really slow. Seritonin’s one thing, but too much serotonin can get them in trouble. That’s the one thing I’m cautious about.” [9:14] “Right now, we’re finding more and more that we used to focus on cholesterol and everything else to take care of your body. You need to take care of your mitochondria because it takes care of you.” [19:37] “Mobility is not just about your shoulder hurting. It could actually affect your diaphragm, the nervous system, then it will affect the lymphatic drainage system, then your body’s ability to detox. It’s a snowball effect.” [28:26] In This Episode What peptides are and how they’re used [3:30] How to use peptides for anxiety and depression [5:00] What happens with the thymus gland as we age [14:30] How to use peptides for weightloss [15:30] What mitochondrial dysfunction is [17:45] Why we need to know about Nrf2 [24:00] How to use PQQ antioxidants [25:30] How inflammation impacts our health and longevity [30:00] Links & Resources Ready Why Antioxidants are Important and Use Code ENERGY for 10% Off Mitochondrial Complex Get 50% Off the Your Longevity Blueprint Course Get Your Free Energy Guide from Dr. Paulvin Find Dr. Neil Paulvin Online Follow Dr. Neil Paulvin on Instagram | Facebook | Twitter | Pinterest | LinkedIn | YouTube Find Your Longevity Blueprint Online Follow Your Longevity Blueprint on Instagram | Facebook | Twitter | YouTube | LinkedIn Get your copy of the Your Longevity Blueprint book and claim your bonuses here Find Dr. Stephanie Gray and Your Longevity Blueprint online Follow Dr. Stephanie Gray on Facebook | Instagram | Youtube | Twitter | LinkedIn Integrative Health and Hormone Clinic Podcast Production by the team at Counterweight Creative Related Episodes Episode 14: Supporting The Mitochondria With Nad And Peptides W/ Dr. Amber Krogsrud Episode 42: Benefits Of Sauna Therapy With Nicole Carlson Episode 31: Gut/Brain Connection With Dr. Lauryn Lax
What do you know about peptides? No, I don't mean collagen peptides. Although, I do advocate for collagen peptide use. Peptides are naturally occurring short chains of amino acids in our bodies. They help communicate messages to our cells, instructing them in what to do. We have over 7,000 of them and they each perform a specific function, which is what makes peptides a great option for addressing specific problems. Peptides have been a game-changer for me and my personal healing and I'm so excited to share this information with you! A little bit about the episode: Today's podcast focuses on therapeutic uses of peptides for treating varied conditions. Learn all about the types of peptides that are out there and how each one can help YOU feel better. Don't worry, Dr. Paulvin doesn't talk about all 7,000. He just notes a few favorites. Highlights: ✨What are peptides? ✨What do peptides do in our bodies? ✨How do peptides work? ✨How to administer peptides in the most therapeutic form. ✨ Which peptides are best for you and your needs. This is for political reasons, not because they present any harm or danger. Remember, our bodies make peptides.
