Hoptimus is joined by Tony from Tonys Tall Tales to breakdown the 2009 Sci Fi film District 9 by Neil Blomkamp. Was District 9 originally a HALO film? Who are the Prawns? Why is the MNU such a corrupt organization? DO the Nigerian Crime lords know what weapons they have? How do the aliens fuel their ship? Where is District 10? This week we have Jonjo Shelvey in the hot seat, a man with one of the best talents we have ever seen in matching football players up to what boots they wore. Signing for Liverpool at a young age he tells us what it was like to play with his hero Gerrard and how he ended up being his next door neighbour. At Newcastle we hear stories of fights, Rafa stealing prawns of plates and what Mike Ashley was really like. Towards the later end of his Jonjo went through a tough time revealing what really happened at Forest and how going to Turkey forced him into one of the darkest places he has ever been. The seafood industry is raising the alarm on the federal government's draft guidelines for disease testing on some imports. Under the proposal, imported containers of prawns won't be tested for diseases like white spot on arrival, but before it is shipped. As it stands, test samples are taken from 100% of uncooked prawns containers which arrive in Australia. Rural Editor Emily Minney spoke to Australian Prawn Farmers Association Chief Executive Kim Hooper about the situation.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Greg & Aaron REUNITE to give their District 9 Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Breakdown, & Spoiler Review! From visionary director Neill Blomkamp, District 9 (2009) is a groundbreaking science fiction thriller blending documentary-style realism with explosive action and social commentary. Produced by Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings, King Kong), the film follows Wikus van de Merwe (Sharlto Copley – Elysium, Chappie), a bumbling government agent tasked with relocating aliens — derogatorily called “Prawns” — living in a Johannesburg slum known as District 9. What begins as a bureaucratic mission spirals into a shocking transformation after Wikus is exposed to alien biotechnology, forcing him into a desperate alliance with Christopher Johnson, one of the alien refugees. Featuring unforgettable moments such as Wikus's horrifying physical transformation, the discovery of alien weaponry, and the climactic mech-suit battle against MNU forces, District 9 remains a modern sci-fi classic exploring xenophobia, segregation, and the nature of humanity. Also starring Jason Cope (Dredd, Chappie) in multiple roles, including Grey Bradnam and Christopher Johnson, and David James (Strike Back, Black Sails) as Colonel Koobus Venter. ArTEEtude. West Cork´s first Art, Fashion & Design Podcast by Detlef Schlich.
This episode reflects on the intersection of art, community, and resilience during the WAW Pass the Hat Tour 2025. Together with AI co-host Sophia, we explore how live music builds temporary communities of belonging, how pub politics can paradoxically highlight the need for solidarity, and how art functions as ritual and survival in contemporary society. The episode culminates in the premiere of Three Hats, One Road by Los Inorgánicos, a song inspired directly by the tour itself. In addition, we announce WAW's forthcoming album The Stories of Nil Young — with its debut single The Nile's Bittersweet Song arriving soon. This podcast remains fully independent and ad-free. Prawns, Perspective & Parenting: Why the Silly Moments Matter Most Sometimes the most ridiculous memories become the most meaningful. In this heartfelt Friday episode, Justin and Kylie reflect on family, connection, and the unexpected power of silly traditions—like reenacting a 50-year-old prawn-and-tomato-sauce date. From celebrating milestones to navigating teenage heartbreak, this episode reminds us that family life isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up, being all-in, and seeing our children through a lens of love. KEY POINTS Family memories don’t have to be perfect to matter. A chaotic dinner with bad food can become a treasured story if shared with love and laughter. Perspective is everything—especially with big emotions. When a teenager's heartbreak feels overwhelming, a shift in perspective can transform frustration into compassion. Silly moments build strong families. Reenactments, impromptu plays, or saying “yes” to your child’s wild idea create connection and shared joy. The long game in parenting matters. Showing up, sticking it out, and staying connected builds legacy—not just for now, but for generations. Every child’s intensity is a strength in disguise. Big emotions may feel inconvenient in the moment—but they’re often the foundation for deep love and character. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE “We think we’re supposed to have perfect families—prawns and tomato sauce is not a perfect dish. But that’s the stuff of family.” RESOURCES MENTIONED The Parenting Revolution by Dr. Justin Coulson This is Connection – book mentioned by a listener Shift by Ethan Kross – for understanding and managing emotions happyfamilies.com.au ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS Say Yes to the Silly Stuff When your kids ask to put on a play, reenact a moment, or share something ridiculous—join in. Shift Your Perspective If you’re feeling frustrated, try seeing the situation through someone else’s eyes—especially your child’s. Celebrate the Everyday You don’t need a 50th anniversary to make memories. Make ordinary moments extraordinary by being present. Notice the Strength in Emotion Big feelings can be exhausting—but they reveal depth, empathy, and passion. Name the strengths behind the storm. Invest TIME Kids spell love T-I-M-E. Whatever else you have going on this weekend, spend it with them. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Nick and Angela welcome one of their favourite comics to Dish HQ. Broadcaster, comedian, writer and conductor Sue Perkins was born in South London. A Cambridge University graduate, Sue's journey into comedy began when she joined the prestigious Footlights, where she met her friend Mel Giedroyc. The duo quickly made a name for themselves, hosting Channel 4's Late Lunch and Light Lunch in the nineties, while also writing for the legendary French & Saunders and, later, Absolutely Fabulous in 2003. Her biggest TV job to date came in 2010, when she and Mel cohosted The Great British Bake Off for seven wildly successful series. Outside of television, Sue's broadcasting credentials include hosting Britain's best-loved radio comedy Just A Minute on BBC Radio 4. You can watch her new TV show Chess Masters: The Endgame on BBC iPlayer and listen to her new podcast Mel and Sue: Should Know By Now on Audlibe. Nick pours Sue a Botivo, a non-alcoholic aperitivo, to start, while Angela prepares a mouthwatering Malaysian prawn laksa curry. The experts at Waitrose pair this with a La Val albariño and for dessert Angela makes Sue her favourite black forest gateau. Nick and Angela are (in their words) giddy at the sight of Sue Perkins sitting opposite them and our trio collapse into fits of laughter throughout this conversation. Sue loves to cook and recounts her best and worst food moments. She also talks about the time she met a shaman in a hot tub, and listen out for her incredible response to the End of Show Question. You can now watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube All recipes from this podcast can be found at waitrose.com/dishrecipes A transcript for this episode can be found at waitrose.com/dish We can't all have a Michelin star chef in the kitchen, but you can ask Angela for help. Send your dilemmas to dish@waitrose.co.uk and she'll try to answer them in a future episode. Dish is a S:E Creative Studio production for Waitrose Learn more about your ad choices.
