Joe chose to apply for West Point based off of financial circumstances and first hand experiences. Joe saw what the structure and discipline of Army did for his older brother and was impressed by a West Point Cadet who spoke locally and absolutely commanded the room of high school students. When Joe entered West Point he was exposed to a shock of a different culture and different mindset, but also learned he had an intermittent case of sleep walking. Joe took advantage of every opportunity he could at West Point. Building friendships and participating in one of a time experiences. Joe served as an intern at the Supreme Court, participated in the German Club, and did whitewater kayaking. Joe branched Armor with the expectation to transition to the Judge Advocate General Corps at a later date. Joe would serve as an Armor Officer at Fort Hood, Texas and deploy to Iraq with the 4th Infantry Division. Joe would return from that tour in Iraq and immediately begin his Funded Legal Education Plan to become a Judge Advocate General. Over the next 15 years Joe would serve as a Prosecutor, as Defense, and ultimately as a Judge in the Military judicial system as both an Active Duty and Reserve Officer. Joe would serve on the Defense Team for MAJ HASAN, the Ft. Hood shooter, and has many experiences in both military and civilian trials. How will smaller, more powerful radar sensors change the way drones are used in first responder programs? David Cameron ia Field Services Engineer and Lead UAS Pilot at MatrixSpace.  MatrixSpace is a radar sensing company that produces the next generation of AI-enabled sensing that can identify objects and collect data in real time, with no cloud requirements.  The company builds the smallest radar system to provide new levels of integrated outdoor surveillance, monitoring and inspection from both stationary and airborne platforms.  One of promising uses for MatrixSpace radar systems is enhancing drone-as-first-responder or DFR programs for short. David brings 33 years of service with the City of Campbell Police Department, where he held a variety of critical roles, most recently leading the department's DFR (drone as first responder) operations. Years of Service: 1990-2015Wendi began her career at the age of 19 as a dispatcher with the Caldwell Police Department from 1990 until 2002. During this same time period, from 1992 until 1994, Wendi became a reserve officer and was pursuing her goal to become a full-time officer until she was hurt in a training accident. She later went back to work for the Canyon County Sheriff's Office where she resumed working as a dispatcher. Wendi was promoted to training officer and later worked as a supervisor in the civil records department until she retired in 2015.

Marcus landed on the Mission 22 team in January 2020 after serving as an Engineer Officer in Alaska for four years. In episode three of 'The Reserve Journey Miniseries', we get an inside look at one of the cornerstones of the Reserve Officer Police Academy. No it's not learning to drive with the lights on...(yet)...it's first aid. Once all public safety issues are dealt with, one of the primary duties of every LAPD officer is to render aid, so a large portion of academy is fittingly dedicated to learning these potentially life-saving techniques. We also introduce you to another member of this Reserve Officer class, Joe Avalos. Joe currently serves as the Crisis Response Team Director for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, which is a full-time job in every way. However Joe, like his classmates, is answering a higher call for service, as he embarks on this shared journey of becoming an LAPD Reserve Officer.

Dispatcher Melissa gave him CPR instructions, and he performed for six minutes until EMS units arrived. His wife Christine survived. Tape 2 - In July 2009 a Boca Raton couple were attacked by a “crazy” fox, and they used a PVC pipe to club the animal to death. Michael and Dani dialed 911 for help. Oddly, 10 minutes later a raccoon attacked a person several blocks away. Tape 3 - In Nov. 2009 a 4 year-old girl in Charles County (Md.) dialed 911 for help when her mother became ill. Child gave dispatcher information that allowed EMS units to quickly arrive and treat her mother’s diabetic emergency. Tape 4 - In July 2007 two elephants from a visiting circus wandered past their electric-fence enclosure and into the neighborhoods of Newmarket (Ont., Canada) to graze on grass and trees. A group of people walking home spotted the elephants and dialed 911 to report their sighting to a surprised dispatcher. The elephants were rounded up without incidents. Tape 5 - In May 2010 a Northport (Fla.) woman dialed 911 to complain about her pizza order. Caller acknowledged the call wasn’t an emergency, but still complained. Tape 6 - In Nov. 2010 a Puyallup (Wash.) woman dialed 911 from a closet after hearing someone break into her home mid-morning.
