In this episode, after feeling the vibes of 70s British Sci-Fi Horror from our prior film, Dustin tries to keep the ball rolling with a blind pick. Who could imagine what terrors await!? So join us as we wind the clock back a few more years to 1970 and head into the land of Amicus Productions to check out Scream and Scream Again. This is certainly one of the films in their catalog and we dig deep to find some merit in this hot mess of a film. But before all that, Jason picks back up reading and dishes on a newer Horror novel that he dug. Dustin runs down some recent watches, including sharing a lot of hype for a brand new Shudder Original. And so much more! In this episode, rising from the snowpocalypse, we make our triumphant return in the new year. We're kicking the year off as we usually do with a few free wheeling picks just for the heck of it. Jason heralds his return by selecting The Creeping Flesh directed by Freddie Francis from 1973. So join us as Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee clash on the big screen to deliver one of the most nonsensical, but fun, slices of sci-fi horror. And before all that, Jason recounts his trip to England, we celebrate the life of David Lynch with a small discussion, and dig in on some parting shots at 2024 as we circle back for a few films; most notably Nosferatu. Paul Rutner in conversation with David Eastaugh Mumps were a popular band at clubs such as Max's Kansas City and CBGB. They also performed at Irving Plaza and Maxwell's (Hoboken, New Jersey), and opened for the Ramones at Hurrah in August 1978. Their concerts were lively and featured energetic, expressive performances from Lance Loud and other band members on songs like "We're Americans", "I Believe In Anyone But You", "Strange Seed", "Brain Massage", "Scream and Scream Again". Their first 45 record single was "I Like To Be Clean", backed by "Crocodile Tears" on Bomp Records. Their second was "Rock & Roll This & That" with two B-sides: "Muscleboys" and "That Fatal Charm". The recorded version of "Rock & Roll This & That" interpolated a short guitar riff from the Rolling Stones' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", but in live performances, they would interpolate other riffs such as David Bowie's "Rebel Rebel". In spite of these two independently produced singles, they failed to secure a contract with a major record label, notably being told "'We don't want ‘the gay band'" by A&M

Carter Wilson is the USA Today bestselling author of nine critically acclaimed, standalone psychological thrillers, as well as numerous short stories. He is an ITW Thriller Award finalist, a five-time winner of the Colorado Book Award, and his works have been optioned for television and film. Carter lives in Erie, Colorado in a Victorian house that is spooky but isn't haunted…yet. Born in New Mexico in 1970, Carter grew up primarily in Los Angeles before attending Cornell University in New York. He lived in Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Miami before moving to Boulder, Colorado in 1996. Throughout his life, Carter has journeyed the globe for both work and pleasure, and his travels have been a constant source of inspiration in his fiction. Carter's writing career began on a spring day in 2003, when an exercise to ward off boredom during a continuing-education class evolved into a 400-page manuscript. Since that day, Carter has been constantly writing. In addition to his published novels, Carter has also contributed short fiction to various publications, and most notably was featured in the R.L.      This week- English people get up to some not nice things.     A jogger collapses and wakes up an amputee. An Eastern European totalitarian murders his way up the ranks. Finally, the worst cop in London teams with the angriest young pathologist to stop a brutal killer targeting young women. An absurd exercise in science fiction with support from three of horror's favorite sons, Scream and Scream Again.     Miriam and her husband take a long trip to visit her sister, Greta, and brother-in-law, Dylan. Sometime in the future, Miriam and Greta's relationship is strained to near breaking while they set up for Dylan's family reunion. Sometime between these scenes, a brutal act of betrayal and an equally brutal act of vengeance. In the end, Miriam makes ice cream. Writer-directors Madeleine Sims-Fewer and Dusty Mancinelli's vicious rape-revenge film anchored by powerful lead performances, Violation.      All that and Dave objects, Craig makes recommendations, and Tyler is blissfully unaware of his impending doom at the cute paws of a squirrel army. Scars of Dracula is a 1970 British horror film directed by Roy Ward Baker for Hammer Films. It stars Christopher Lee as Count Dracula, along with Dennis (i should be so good for you) Waterman, Jenny Hanley, Patrick Troughton, and Michael Gwynn. Although disparaged by some critics, the film does restore a few elements of Bram Stoker's original character: the Count is introduced as an "icily charming host;" he has command over nature; and he is seen scaling the walls of his castle. It also gives Lee more to do and say than any other Hammer Dracula film except its first, 1958's Dracula. This film breaks the continuity maintained through the previous entries in Hammer's Dracula film series: whereas at the end of the preceding film, Taste the Blood of Dracula, the Count met his end in a disused church near London, this film opens with a resurrection scene set in Dracula's castle in Transylvania, with no explanation of how his ashes got there. Furthermore, in Scars of Dracula, the Count has a servant named Klove, played by Patrick Troughton; in the third film of the series, Dracula: Prince of Darkness, Dracula has a servant named Klove (played by Philip Latham) who appears to be a different character, though identically named. The disruption of continuity caused by Scars of Dracula reflects the fact the film was originally tooled as a possible reboot of the series in the event Christopher Lee elected not to reprise the role of Dracula, and, as Listener Christopher pointed out was intended for John Forbes-Robertson, who later played Dracula in The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires.Peter Cushing was asked to appear in this movie, however due to conflicting schedules, he reluctantly declined the major role written for him. He was able to carry out a dare set by his good friend Christopher Lee. Due to a hold up in production in filming of "Scream and Scream Again", Peter was able to spend a day on set filming a brief cameo as a milkmaid for the opening village Inn scene.Dracula's resurrection at the beginning of the film is the same footage as Dracula's death from Taste the Blood of Dracula, but simply played in reverse.$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$ Just in case anyone has too much money and wants to give a bit to us to help with our hosting n stuff. Available on Apple and Spotify Episode 323 includes: -Casting news: Adam Warlock and animated Mario Brothers. -Trailer discussion for "Scream 5: Scream and Scream Again." -If you're a Sopranos fan, you might not even find enough to like with "The Many Saints of Newark." -"The Adams Family 2" is perfectly fine family film. -Switch the Pitch -- "Woo" / "A Serial Killer's Guide to Life" -The guys discuss Jada Pinkett's early solo outing, 1998's "Woo," and a frustrating dark comedy that feels entirely stretched thin, 2019's "A Serial Killer's Guide to Life." They then combine both into a new, and better, pitch for a movie about the extent a lonely man will go to accept a charming serial killer girlfriend.

In the third of four re-edited re-uploads from their previous series The Lee/Cushing Podcast, Howard and Dan discuss an unusual Amicus/American International Pictures co-production that billed Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing alongside Vincent Price, without the three stars ever sharing the screen: Scream and Scream Again (1970), a unique science fiction-horror-conspiracy thriller from director Gordon Hessler. They also take some time to discuss the career of Price, the British horror star who wasn't British.  This episode was recorded in 2016, shortly after the death of Rod Temperton, the songwriter behind Price's last major horror success - Michael Jackson's Thriller. Howard and Dan will soon resume their epic quest to document in podcasts every filmic collaboration between actors and sometime horror stars Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.  As a curtain-raiser, Kirsty offered to bring her perspective to the table and accept an introductory exploration of this unique filmography from Dan. As part of this, Kirsty sampled two particular examples from either end of the Lee/Cushing horror pantheon, The Curse of Frankenstein (1957) and The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973) - the film which inspired our lovely Brian Gorman podcast artwork - and brings her academic perspective to bear on both films. Howard and Dan's original 2015 podcast about The Curse of Frankenstein will be added to this podcast feed soon after this episode is uploaded, and will be followed by other previously-available discussions of Dr Terror's House of Horrors (1965), Scream and Scream Again (1970) and The Hound of the Baskervilles (1959) before our upload of a brand new Howard/Dan Lee/Cushing episode, on Horror Express (1972), next week. Mumps with Kristian Hoffman in conversation with David Eastaugh Mumps (sometimes credited as The Mumps) were an American punk band fronted by Lance Loud. Other members of the band included Kristian Hoffman, Rob Duprey, Jay Dee Daugherty and Aaron Kiley. Kiley and Daugherty were replaced with Kevin Kiely and John Earl (JED) Dennis. Shortly thereafter Dennis was replaced by Paul Rutner. Their first 45 RPM single was "I Like To Be Clean". Their second was "Rock & Roll This & That" with a double side B of "Muscleboys" and "That Fatal Charm". The recorded version of the song "Rock & Roll This & That" interpolated a short guitar riff from the Rolling Stones' "I Can't Get No Satisfaction", but in live performances, they would interpolate other riffs such as David Bowie's "Rebel Rebel". Mumps concerts were lively and featured energetic, expressive performances from Lance Loud and other band members on songs like "We're Americans", "I Believe In Anyone But You", "Strange Seed", "Brain Massage", "Scream and Scream Again". Mumps were a popular band at clubs such as Max's Kansas City and CBGB. They also performed at Irving Plaza and Maxwell's (Hoboken, New Jersey), and opened for the Ramones at Hurrah in August 1978. In spite of two independently produced 45 records they released, they failed to secure a contract with a major record label. Two compilations of their music have been released, "Fatal Charm" (Eggbert Records, 1994) and a remastered, 2-disc CD and DVD compilation, "How I Saved The World", in 2005.

In the wake of the surprising runaway success of the Hammer Horrors, any number of budget conscious producers suddenly saw gold in them thar hills, ranging as far distant as Roger Corman's California production house (with the much lauded Hammer-derived "Poe cycle") and as close to home as Kevin Francis' short lived Tyburn, Tony Tenser's far more credible Tigon...and a Shepperton Studios based, yet American founded company with an obsession for EC Comics and the portmanteau format, namely Amicus films. Featuring a plethora of both Stateside and UK luminaries of the silver screen past and present, Rosenberg and Subotsky's English cash cow dropped many a Saturday afternoon syndicated chiller on television audiences (and the filmgoers whose airings preceded such), featuring trilogies, quartets and quadrilogies of short form shudders for the "monster kids" of the 60's and 70's. But equally if not far more interesting were their non-anthologized efforts, which ranged from a pair of oddly juvenile (even abysmal) Doctor Who opuses based on previously aired (and far more po-faced) serials and two of the most mocked science fiction films of their era (The Terrornauts, They Came From Beyond Space) to a trilogy of quirky Burroughs Pellucidar adaptations... ...but more importantly, a handful of fascinating horror films: The Skull, The Deadly Bees, the Cushing/Lee misfire I, Monster, ...And Now, The Screaming Starts and the delightful "werewolf break" sporting blaxploitation crossover, The Beast Must Die.  Who knows, we may even touch on Subotsky's post-Amicus efforts The Uncanny and The Monster Club as well... So prepare to Scream, and Scream Again as we talk one of the strongest, yet most strangely flawed pretenders to the Hammerian horror throne, the fascinatingly bizarre Amicus Films! Over the next 11 episodes in the series we will count down each year in the decade known as the 70's with the mission statement of creating the definitive Top 10 list of movies in the decade, but with a little TPUTS twist if you will.  Noah's Ark rules will mean that each year will be represented in the creation of the list and will force myself and my guest to short list each year in the decade from 10 movies to 2!! In celebration of these classic horror movie legends, we watched one of only two features in which they all appeared together, Scream and Scream Again (1970). If the plot made any sense, we'd be able to summarize it for you, but unfortunately that's not an option.TortureVision Rating: ABORTIONGood features were better than expected. Bad features were awful, yet still enjoyable. Abortions were utter torment to sit through.Right-Click "Save As" to download .MP3!
