There are more than 400 large supplement companies and more than 1200 total supplement brands in the United States. So, what was it that made us jump at the chance to partner with Amare over all of the others? This will be the first in a series of (not consecutive) posts to help you understand why you will undoubtedly benefit from the products, and possibly benefit from the business opportunity. For today, I want you to understand why I felt certain we needed to put the full weight of our reputations and effort behind Amare. Filling a Gap in Health and Fitness 57.8 million adults in the U.S. faced mental illness in 2021. That's nearly 1 in 5 adults. Since 2019, mental health diagnoses have increased by 45% in 35-44 year olds. Mental health wasn't great before 2020, but then we were faced with social isolation, the constant threat of an unseen virus, gym closures, a worsening of people's diets, kids being stuck at home, and financial stress. That's like a perfect recipe for wrecking people's mental health. To top it off, evidence now shows that the “vaccines,” which didn't stop the spread, nor prevent infection, actually ruined people's gut microbiome, the body's second brain. Is it any wonder that mental health seems to be at an all-time low? Clearly, mental health is a significant issue, even in people who appear to be fit and healthy. When you realize there's a problem like this, the next logical step is to start looking for solutions. Helping Your Brain via Your Gut Over the last decade, an overwhelming amount of research has come out, pointing to the gut as the source of mental wellness or illness. Certain bacteria, fibers, and nutrients have been shown to have a significant impact on the health of your microbiome, but it isn't as simple as eating yogurt once a day or taking a cheap probiotic. Even when I wrote my most recent probiotics article in 2019, I wasn't aware of gut health products that included specific, clinically proven strains. Most just included general strains, which are less certain to deliver specific health benefits. In that article, I emphasized the importance of using specific, patented or branded strains with research-supported health benefits. Fast forward to a month ago, and we got introduced to Amare, The Mental Wellness Company. A company with products specifically designed to support mental wellness. In an overcrowded sea of supplement companies focused on fat loss, muscle growth, and performance enhancement, Amare set itself apart from the rest by focusing on something everyone needs: better mental wellness. But saying you're good at something and backing it up with real science are two totally different things. I had to look for holes in the formulas and ingredients before I could buy into the brand. Carefully-Selected Ingredients One of the things that immediately stood out to me about Amare supplements was their extensive use of carefully-chosen and/or branded ingredients. For example, Lactobacillus rhamnosus R0011 is one of the specific strains included in MentaBiotics. The “R0011” is important because only this specific strain has clinical evidence showing it promotes a healthy stress response by lowering cortisol and improving GABA neurotransmission. A probiotic formula that just includes Lactobacillus rhamnosus cannot make such claims as the effects of a probiotic are strain-specific. It would be like the difference between saying your baseball team has players from Oshu, Japan, versus saying Shohei Ohtani plays for your baseball team (he's the expected 2023 American League MVP). The bottom line is that the health benefit of a probiotic supplement lies in the specific strains, which is why the Amare probiotics are strain-specific. But it goes beyond the probiotics. The top-selling product, Happy Juice, includes a huge list of branded, research-backed ingredients, including IsoFiber™, Bimuno®, and SunFiber®, Suntheanine®,
L-theanine is a powerful amino acid that has several important clinical applications. Welcome back to Chat Sh*t Get Fit. In this episode, we revisit CBD (Cannabidiol) but this time take a closer look in the context of sports and athletic performance. It starts with a Twitter debate that Bill & Tom perform in roleplay like fashion. This may or may not have pushed us to make this episode and then we take a closer look at a 2020 Review and see what the current literature says on CBD in a sporting/athletic setting. We also look at the product Beam and its sleep powder. The main points covered are Pain Exercise-Induced Muscle Damage - Muscle Function, Soreness and Injury Cardiovascular (CV) & Metabolic Functions Illness & Infection Sports Performance Anxiety Sleep (This is where Beam comes in!) Loads of science in this one but hopefully we've filled any gaps that were perhaps left in the first CBD episode. We are not saying it's useless and we hope that in 5-10 years time we are proved wrong but as it currently stands, the results are underwhelming and inconsistent meaning that the high price tags seen on the products just aren't warranted. David Tomen's journey with nootropic supplements began when he was diagnosed with Adult ADD. After years of buying self-help books, being passed over for promotions, and even suffering depression over his inability to focus, Ritalin helped turn his life and career around. But a few short years later, David was in the ER with a laundry list of symptoms. Not only was David struggling to focus again but now he was suffering from complete memory loss, chronic fatigue, and depression — and his business and marriage were in deep trouble. Fighting for his life, David again turned to nootropic supplements. With a methodically researched regimen of supplements and lifestyle changes, he was able to not only recover but get his brain working better than ever before. After experiencing firsthand what nootropic supplements were capable of, David founded NootropicsExpert.com and wrote two books — "Secrets of the Optimized Brain" and "Head First” — all with the intent of helping others achieve the same transformational success that he had. David also has a knack for explaining this cutting-edge neuroscience in a digestible and engaging way that cuts through the marketing and scientific jargon that so often surrounds the supplement industry, and that's why I brought him onto the show today. Nootropics & Nootropic Stacks In David's book https://nootropicsexpert.com/store/ (Head First - The Complete Guide to Healing & Optimizing Your Brain with Nootropic Supplements), he offers detailed information on various nootropics, dosage information, side effects, drug interactions, how your brain works, and detailed “recipes” for nootropic stacks. While nootropics can help you optimize your brain health and overcome a long list of cognitive problems — ADHD, Anxiety, Concentration/attention, Creativity, Depression, Focus, Longevity, Mental clarity, Sociability, Mental/chronic fatigue, Memory, Motivation, Stress — there is no magic panacea. You will likely need to address multiple parts of your brain through multiple nootropics — called a Nootropic Stack — in addition to implementing lifestyle changes that contribute to your overall cognitive and physical health. Here are a few of the most popular Nootropic Stacks, https://nootropicsexpert.com/best-pre-made-nootropic-stacks/ (which David shared on a recent blog post): Focus – using https://nootropicsexpert.com/l-theanine/ (L-Theanine) (as Suntheanine®) which provides a calm https://nootropicsexpert.com/nootropics-glossary/#focus (focus), attention and https://nootropicsexpert.com/how-to-hack-your-flow-state-with-nootropics/ (flow-state) style creativity by boosting https://nootropicsexpert.com/nootropics-glossary/#alpha-waves (alpha brain waves) Memory – using https://nootropicsexpert.com/cdp-choline/ (Citicoline) (as Cognizin®) and https://nootropicsexpert.com/bacopa-monnieri/ (Bacopa Monnieri) which increases https://nootropicsexpert.com/nootropics-glossary/#acetylcholine (acetylcholine) and keeps it active longer for enhanced https://nootropicsexpert.com/best-nootropics-for-learning-and-memory/ (learning and memory) Motivation – using https://nootropicsexpert.com/n-acetyl-l-tyrosine/ (N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine) and https://nootropicsexpert.com/13-vitamins-essential-for-the-optimized-brain/ (B-Vitamins) which increases https://nootropicsexpert.com/nootropics-glossary/#dopamine (dopamine) Longevity – using https://nootropicsexpert.com/pine-bark-extract-pycnogenol/ (Pine Bark Extract) and https://nootropicsexpert.com/lions-mane/ (Lion's Mane Mushroom) which boosts https://nootropicsexpert.com/nootropics-glossary/#cerebral-circulation (cerebral circulation) for better oxygen and nutrient delivery to brain cells. full show notes @ https://thesternmethod.com/lise-alschuler Lise Alschuler is a naturopathic doctor with board certification in naturopathic oncology. She is the co-author of a book I highly recommend called The Definitive Guide to Cancer. She co-created iTHRIVE, a cancer survivorship programme and co-hosts a radio show, Five To Thrive Live! on the Cancer Support Network. In 2008, Dr. Lise was diagnosed with breast cancer. She integrated natural supplements, diet, exercise and other lifestyle changes throughout her treatment and is 10 years cancer free! She now incorporates the learnings of her own, firsthand experience into her work to help others facing the challenges of this disease. ***Resources Mentioned*** Dr Lise’s Website Dr Lise’s Book - The Definitive Guide to Cancer Five to Thrive Live – radio show / podcast iTHRIVE: Free survivorship programme ListenAndCare.com Cortisol Manager Suntheanine Nature's Way lavender product *** In This Episode: The topic of this podcast is one that’s particularly close to home for Teddy and I. When Teddy was pregnant with Ryder, she experienced immense amounts of stress from a negative work environment. We often wonder about the impact this stress had on our son and if it was responsible, at least in part, for his cancer. So it’s a topic I was really excited to explore, and there’s no one better to do this with than Dr. Lise Alschuler. In this episode Dr. Lise explains the potential negative effects that stress can have on the body, including cancer progression and relapse, and what we can do to mitigate stress and anxiety in our lives. What led you to becoming a naturopathic doctor specializing in cancer? Took an undergrad class at medical school. Many people diagnosed with cancer shared their journey Each person was unique, authentic, honest, courageous Wanted to treat these kinds of people, so decided to get into oncology Passion was in integrative medicine. Pulled out of medical school to study naturopathic medicine Offered position at cancer hospital and discovered integrative oncology Fascinated with the transformative element that a cancer diagnosis invokes in people Dr. Lise’s father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Lived past his prognosis using integrative oncology Two years later Dr. Lise was diagnosed with breast cancer and experienced integrative oncology firsthand She felt healthy throughout conventional treatment despite side effects Can you talk to the importance of mindset and effective stress mitigation strategies? We often try to create linear relationship between cause and effect Cancer is multifactorial – can't appoint blame to any one thing Take control of what we can. Modify our relationship to stress Latest research shows correlation between high levels of stress and cancer progression or recurrence, rather than initial diagnosis Cancer rates increase amongst individuals who have experienced significant stressors in their lives e.g. death of loved one or marriage break up Cancer cells have been growing for 10-20 years before they get large enough to be identified as a tumor. Stress can accelerate what's already present Stress is just one factor behind tumor acceleration All changeable through stress modification What are you finding on the relationship between stress and prognosis? Studies look at impact of the biomarkers of stress on cancer patient outcomes Study on advanced breast cancer patients Divided study participants by their circadian rhythms – healthy circadian patterns indicative of a healthy stress response Study showed women with flat circadian rhythms had chronic stress and died sooner – highly statistically significant. Had less immune function Cortisol suppresses our natural killer cells and other essential bodily functions Similar results seen on studies of people with colon and lung cancer The importance of social networks Feeling socially isolated has a negative effect on prognosis Not the quantity but the quality of connections with others How do we know if it’s mental or external stressors behind the disruption of circadian rhythm as opposed to environmental influences e.g exposure to too much blue light? Inflammatory cytokines are elevated throughout the body when there is a constant stress response When stress mitigation strategies are implemented a positive change seen in circadian rhythms and inflammatory cytokines reduced “Psychological wellbeing is like a firehose on inflammatory cytokines” Note for parents of young children Clear link between early childhood stress and adult susceptibility to cancer An elevated stress response system becomes hardwired Start stress modification techniques early e.g. meditation through guided imagery, creative play, good rest How do you counsel people to get their mental well being under control? Step back and look at the bigger picture – where is identifiable stress coming from? What you change to bring more of yourself into the world in a positive way? Other factors: Sleep – enough, quality, hygiene, light exposure in the morning Melatonin controls circadian rhythms and sleep. Often deficient in people with chronic disease Aren’t there negative effects of supplementing something your body produces naturally? Melatonin has a very short halflife. We don’t habituate to it Melatonin has anti-cancer properties and is a potent antioxidant. Restores health of the pineal gland, reenabling melatonin production In theory the body could develop resistance to melatonin. Long term users should take breaks and adjust dosage Long-term use of any supplementation poses risks in terms of resistance With kids, be conservative with anything in the hormone category Back to stress mitigation strategies Avoid sleep medication if you have cancer. Try a natural first Regular, daily, vigorous exercise at the edge of your fitness Exercise creates healthier circadian rhythms, fewer inflammatory cytokines, healthier immune systems, blood sugar control What would say to someone going through conventional treatment where the last thing they feel like doing is exercise? Still need to exercise but drop the intensity General rule of thumb: recovery time after exercise should be no more than half the exercise time when on treatment. If longer to recover then over doing it If lost muscle mass tai chi, yoga, walking are better options Rebounding What’s next after exercise? Diet. Correlation between Mediterranean or anti inflammatory diet and lower stress hormones and inflammatory cytokines Plant-led diet with no process foods – more resilience to stress Refined sugar is a stressor Majority of diet should be plant-based Too much meat is carcinogenic Plants and herbal medicine Two for one – manage stress and anti-cancer potential Diverse gut microbiome – prebiotics, high fibre fermets Lower anxiety and better stress response, immune function and response to conventional treatment Adaptogens – plants that can reinstate circadian rhythm e.g. American Ginseng Ashwagandha, Holy Basil Brands Dr Lise recommends: Gaia Herbs, Vital Nutrients (Verified Quality is their consumer brand), Pure Encapsulations, Integrative Therapeutics (product called Cortisol Manager) and Solaray To reduce anxiety, Dr Lise recommends L-theanine (in particular, products containing Suntheanine) and lavender extract. Silexan is a lavender oil formula that is used in supplements. Dr Lise recommends a Nature's Way product. Mindfulness and meditation Mindfulness starts with breathing. Exercises like the 4, 7, 8 breath Great meditation apps. 10 minute guided meditations Tai chi, yoga or qigong – moving meditation Explore different types of meditation Headspace and Calm apps are mindful meditation There are other types e.g transcendental meditation and loving-kindness meditation Follow Dr Lise https://www.drlise.net/ If you have a question or comment about this episode let us know below!!

Without him, we knew we'd never make it to Paris." In this February 17, 2009 free audio podcast,I interview Joe Stout about some very interesting properties of goat's milk that make it much, much different than cow's milk. During the discussion, Joe includes information on five compelling reasons to think a bit more about adding goat's milk into a diet for lean muscle, fat loss, or sports performance. Included in this talk: 1. The difference in allergic reactions between goat's milk and cow's milk, and why the difference exists. 2. What happens to cow's milk during homogenization that might make it especially dangerous for athletes and people worried about cancer. 3. Why the body absorbs goat's milk protein at a much, much faster rate than cow's milk protein. 4. What causes lactose intolerance, and why this rarely happens with goat's milk. 5. Why goat's milk "matches up" to the human body better than cow's milk. 6. Where you can get goat's milk if you don't have access to a raw, local source. Just click here. Alright folks - I usually don't get this excited about a discovery, but when we're talking about a substance that is all-natural, amazingly simple to find, and incredibly diverse, it is well worth the buzz. In this February 10, 2009 podcast, I interview a farmer in Palouse, Idaho. And what he reveals to me is going to blow your mind. Let's just call it "Product X" for now. Before I tell you more about Product X, I want to remind you about three important studies that are highly relevant to fat loss, and that are going to help you understand why your body is probably more messed up that you think it is. These are studies that your physician, personal trainer, and nutritionist are probably not going to tell you about. This is NOT run-of-the-mill fat loss advice. Here's the first study (and remember, you should read this part because it ties in very closely with Product X): 1) "Antibodies Against Food Antigens are Correlated with Inflammation and Intima Media Thickness in Obese Juveniles" What the HECK does that mean? This study looked at kids, half of whom were normal weight and half of whom were overweight (i.e. "obese juveniles"). The researchers measured the children's levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (CRP), a marker for inflammation in the body. Then they used an ultrasound to look for plaque or thickening in the carotid arteries (the main arteries that supply the brain). Finally, they looked at blood tests for IgG, which show food allergies. Guess what? The overweight kids had 3 times higher CRP levels and 2.5 times higher IgG antibodies food allergy levels, and these values are almost 10 times higher than what other studies have found up to this point! The overweight kids also had much thicker carotid arteries - a huge risk for heart disease. How did this happen? When the gut is damaged by consumption of foods to which you are allergic, it becomes leaky, and these allergic food particles put your immune system on hyper-alert. Your hyped-up immune system then triggers an inflammatory response. And guess what happens next? Your cells become insensitive to insulin. This leads to insulin resistance. And insulin resistance leads to belly fat. So while you're busy counting calories and making sure that you drink the "skinny latte", I've got NEWS. It is WAY more important that your body is not allergy to those milk proteins then that you are drinking low calorie. And this is why I am now recommending that every one of my nutrition and exercise clients get food allergy testing. Especially the ones that are having trouble losing weight. But why take my word that a leaky gut causes inflammation? Here's another study: 2) "Metabolic endotoxemia initiates obesity and insulin resistance." This study looked at what causes a leaky gut. In this study, researchers fed thin mice a very high-fat diet. Why a high-fat diet? Because high-fat diets (and we're not talking about good fats like nuts and olives and avocadoes - we're talking about crackers, muffins, and margarine) promote toxin-producing bugs, and these bad bugs kill the good bugs. Interestingly, sugars do the same thing. Here's what the researchers discovered: the toxins produced in the mice triggered killed off the good bacteria in the stomach of the mice and produced inflammation and obesity. So let's do a review of what we've learned so far: A) food allergies make you fat; B) sugar and bad fats produce inflammation, which also makes you fat. BY THE WAY, "sugar" and "bad fats" include whole wheat muffins, pasta, wheat thin crackers, and organic ice cream. Here's the third and last study: 3) "The gut microbiota as an environmental factor that regulates fat storage." I'm going to keep this one short and sweet. This study found that people with good bugs in their gut lose weight quickly, and those with bad bugs in their gut gain weight and pile on body fat. And if you want to really get into the details of why, you should listen to Podcast Episode #29 with the Fat Flush Doctor. So now we know that gut inflammation, bad bugs, food allergies, toxins, fungus, and microbes can make you fat. Not to mention giving you chronic fatigue, bad sports performance, insomnia, repeated bouts of sickness, and a host of other problems. But how on earth does all this tie into Product X? Consider the following powerful excerpts: “(Washington, D.C.) Oil from the common herb Product X may be an effective treatment against dangerous, and sometimes drug-resistant bacteria, a Georgetown researcher has found. Two studies have shown that Product X Oil—and, in particular, Carvacrol, one of Product X's chemical components—appear to reduce infection as effectively as traditional antibiotics.… Harry G. Preuss, MD, MACN, CNS, Professor of Physiology and Biophysics, and his research team, tested Product X Oil on Staphylococcus bacteria—which is responsible for a variety of severe infections and is becoming increasingly resistant to many antibiotics. They combined Product X Oil with the bacteria in a test tube, and compared Product X Oil's effects to those of standard antibiotics Streptomycin, Penicillin and Vancomycin. The Product X Oil at relatively low doses was found to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus bacteria in the test tubes as effectively as the standard antibiotics did.” Georgetown University Medical Center Press Release October 6, 2001 "Here's a member of the mint family that's simply loaded with antiseptic compounds. Product X is useful as a hot tea (inhale the vapors as you drink) or in a massage lotion. You can add a few drops of the Essential Oil to any skin lotion or to vegetable oil. (Page 391)" The Green Pharmacy By James A. Duke “The Essential Oil of Product X is the most powerful plant-derived antiseptic known." William Harrison Martindale Publisher Of The Extra Pharmacopoeia British Pharmacology Reference Book "Antibiotic resistance, the ability of germs to become impervious to modern antibiotic drugs, has been called one of the most challenging health threats of our modern era. Yet researchers report that Carvacrol, an ingredient found in Oil of Product X, kills off bacteria without causing antibiotic resistance." “Microbiology Letters” Federation Of European Microbiological Societies January 2004 "British researchers reported Product X Oil had antibacterial activity against 25 different bacteria." “Journal Of Applied Microbiology” Volume 88 February 2000 "What we found was that certain spices added to foods would be useful in preventing and even killing organisms like E. Coli that can cause disease," said Dr. F. Ann Draughon, a UT microbiologist who is co-director of the UT Food Safety Initiative.…The study found that Oil of Product X was the most effective at killing all the pathogens." “Tennessee Today” Current News From The University Of Tennessee June 14, 1999 "Researchers at the Department of Food Science at the University of Tennessee reported that, among various plant oils, Oil of Product X exhibited the greatest antibacterial action against common pathogenic germs such as Staph, E. coli and Listeria." “Journal Of Food Protection” Volume 64 July 2001 "Because the essential oils are so sweet smelling, it might be easy to suppose that their value is essentially one of charm. That would be a mistake. The Essential Oil of Product X, for example, is twenty-six times more powerful as an antiseptic than Phenol, which is the active ingredient in many cleansing materials." (Page 8) The Complete Book Of Essential Oils And Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Worwood "General (Effects): The Essential Oil, which contains carvacrol, is antimicrobial in vitro. (Page 609) Physicians' Desk Reference For Herbal Medicines by Joerg Gruenwald (Editor) "Wild Product X, which is quite different than the variety on most kitchen spice racks, has over 50 antibacterial compounds." “The London Times” May 8, 2001 "Researchers from the University of Thessaloniki in Greece discovered that Product X was highly bactericidal (it killed bacteria and sterilized septic water) at 1/4000 dilution." “Journal Of Agricultural Food Chemistry” American Chemical Society Volume 44-1996 “Egyptians valued Product X for its ability to disinfect wounds and speed the healing process…. After Aristotle observed that tortoises ate snakes and then ate Product X to avoid dying, he recommended it as an antidote for poisoning…. “Product X Oil is one of the strongest antiseptic and antiviral essential oils. It boosts immunity and is especially effective against allergies, Candidiasis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and fungal infections. It stimulates sluggish lymphatic circulation. During convalescence or in states of general weakness, the body can be strengthened and energized by Product X. Its antibacterial action makes Product X ideal for spraying in a sickroom to cleanse or sterilize it and to prevent the spread of infection. “Respiratory ailments as asthma, bronchitis, colds, flu, sore throat, and even whooping cough respond well to Product X Oil's ability to fight bacterial and viral infections, relieve congestion, loosen and release phlegm, and soothe coughs, while it eases aches and pains and reduces muscle spasms. Product X alleviates the pain and inflammation of joint and spinal problems such as arthritis, backache, bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, rheumatism, and sciatica. It is often used in a pack or poultice to treat sprains, swelling, and stiffness. “Product X is helpful for all digestive disorders, particularly those resulting from nervousness. It eases indigestion that results from eating too rapidly. It calms the stomach, can stimulate appetite, relieves diarrhea, and can even cure hiccups. Product X can soothe headaches, migraines, and nervous tension. Its antiseptic abilities help to fight infection of earaches. Some people report success in preventing or minimizing motion sickness by drinking Product X herb tea. Others recommend chewing fresh Product X leaves to provide temporary relief from painful toothache. “The anti-inflammatory action of Product X Oil helps to heal wounds and skin infections, as well as to relieve skin disorders such as dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, and seborrhea. Because it has strong antifungal and antiseptic properties, it can fight fungal infections of the skin such as athlete's foot and jock itch. Massage diluted Product X Oil into the fingernails to fight fungal infections there. Applied topically, it helps reduce chronic skin infections. Product X is a powerful insect repellant; it may help to alleviate skin parasites, such as lice, because of its antiparasitic activity. “Product X can often stimulate the flow of menstruation when used in a sitz bath or when massaged on the abdomen. It also relieves the pain of menstrual cramps and helps to overcome insomnia.” (Pages 103,104)" Aromatherapy PA By Roberta Wilson “Medicinal Actions & Uses: Product X helps to settle flatulence and stimulates the flow of bile. Strongly antiseptic, may be taken to treat respiratory conditions such as coughs, tonsillitis, bronchitis and asthma. It is also considered to be a useful promote of menstruation. The diluted oil can be applied externally to toothache or painful joints.” (Page 240) Encyclopedia Of Medicinal Plants By Andrew Chevallier “Anticancer Effects: Antimutagenic and anticarcenogenic properties have been attributed to rosmaric acid isolated from rosemary and Product X.” (Page 609) Physicians' Desk Reference For Herbal Medicines by Joerg Gruenwald (Editor) “Product X has seven…compounds that lower blood pressure….” (Page 256) The Green Pharmacy by James A. Duke “Mother Nature has provided us with a powerful antibiotic in Product X Oil. Unlike synthetic antibiotics that are powerless against viruses and funguses, Product X Oil is effective against these pathogens too.” Dr. Michelle Schoffro Cook “The Cochrane Times” June 8, 2005 “Wild Product X Oil: Powerful antifungal agent that has the ability to destroy even resistant forms of fungi.” (Page 393) Prescription For Herbal Healing by Phyllis A. Balch “Oil of Product X is an excellent supplement. It's beneficial for viral conditions, bacterial and fungal problems and can be used both preventatively and during an infection to help clear up the problem.” Marni Ross Naturopathic Physician Toronto, Canada “Constituents: Product X contains a volatile oil (comprising carvacrol, thymol, betabisabolene, Caryophyllene, linalool, and borneol), tannins, resin, sterols, and flavanoids. Both carvacrol and thymol are antibacterial and antifungal.” (Page 240) Encyclopedia Of Medicinal Plants By Andrew Chevallier “A recent study compared the anti-Candida effect of Product X Oil to that of Caprylic Acid. The results indicated that Product X Oil is over 100 times more potent than Caprylic Acid against Candida.” “Journal Of Applied Nutrition” Volume 47 1995 “In a study by the National Institute of Pediatrics in Mexico, scientists found that Product X was effective at killing Giardia, a parasite that causes abdominal distress.” Dr. Michelle Schoffro Cook “The Cochrane Times” June 8, 2005 “A clinical study in Italy has shown that Oil of Product X can be used to treat intestinal parasites.” “Phytotherapy Research” Volume 14 May 2000 “Researchers Call Herbs Rich Source Of Healthy Antioxidants; Product X Ranks Highest” “Science Daily” January 8, 2002 “Studies are accumulating that the ‘pizza herb', Product X, is a powerful antioxidant…. In a test of nearly 100 plants in the mint family, of which Product X is a member, the pizza herb was the one with the greatest antioxidant activity.” (Page 59) The Green Pharmacy by James A. Duke “Antioxidant Effects: The Essential Oil of Product X has been demonstrated to be a potent antioxidant.” (Page 609) Physicians' Desk Reference For Herbal Medicines by Joerg Gruenwald (Editor) “Researchers at the U.S. Department of Agriculture have determined that herbs are higher in antioxidant levels than fruits, vegetables and even spices such as garlic…. Product X has 42 times more antioxidant activity than apples, 30 times more than potatoes, 12 times more than oranges and 4 times more than blueberries…. Product X had 3 to 30 times higher antioxidant activity than other herbs studied." “Journal Of Agricultural And Food Chemistry” American Chemical Society November 2001 “No significant adverse reactions have been associated with the use of Product X in culinary or medicinal concentrations. The FDA has placed Product X on its list of substances “Generally Recognized As Safe” (GRAS) for food consumption.” (Page 477) The American Pharmaceutical Association Practical Guide To Natural Medicines by Andrea Peirce “No health hazards or side effects are known in conjunction with the proper administration of designated therapeutic dosages.” (Page 610) Physicians' Desk Reference For Herbal Medicines by Joerg Gruenwald (Editor) That's right. This stuff works wonders, and people have been observing it for hundreds of years. In my own personal research, I've found that interestingly, in most commercial grocery stores and health food outlets, what you are getting is not the actual Product X, but rather, a fake knock-off imitation oil or compound that is a complete waste of money, and potentially harmful at higher dosages. But just 2 weeks ago, I received a phone call from a fan of BenGreenfieldFitness.com, and given complete access to one of the most highly concentrated and certified sources of Product X, at a price so affordable that I literally thought I was being pranked. It is a 7:1 mixture of Product X and almond oil, bottled in a 1 ounce medicine droplet bottle that lasts 1-2 months, depending on your frequency of use. The almond oil is a Virgin Sweet Almond Oil, which is more readily assimilated into the skin and less greasy that another other available carrier oil, including olive oil, which is the normal carrier oil for Product X. You can put it on your skin to treat acne and eczema, place a few drops under your tongue to kill fungus, microbes, yeast and bad bacteria in your gut, and even mix a little into a spraybottle to mist in your house and on your kitchen counter to destroy microbes. But how do you know you're getting the real deal? #1: The actual Product X utilized in the brand new customized BenGreenfieldFitness.com mixture comes with a laboratory certificate of analysis, is 100% pure undiluted and unadulterated, and contains 75% Carvacrol, the primary indicator of quality and effectiveness. It is the Wild Mediterranean version, harvested in France and stream distilled in a blend that is stronger than other blends that are available on the retail market - at a fraction of the price. #2: I guarantee that you will begin to notice results within just 2 weeks of implementing Product X as a topical treatment for skin problems, microbe killer in your home, or soldier against bad bugs in your gut. And your results will speak louder than any study or certificate of analysis! What do you think? Are you ready to save money on doctor hospital bills and useless fat loss treatments? Are you ready to eliminate yeast, fungus and bad bacteria in your gut? Are you ready introduce a completely natural, healthy, and highly effective microbe killer into your home or office? But sometimes I have a little craving and sometimes have a handful of one of your trail mix recipes that I have stored in the frig, or a 1/4 or 1/2 of a Bumblebar with the water. Is this OK to do? Are these items OK or would you recommend something else? Is waking up in the middle of the night with a craving an indication of not getting enough of a particular nutrient (i.e. carbs)?" -Listener Karen asks: "I'm afraid my kids are addicted to junk food, but unfortunately Ben, I can't just start feeding them goat's milk and quinoa like your kids or they will run away forever. What's your advice on changing my childrens' diet?" -Listener Jason has a "call-in" Q&A on hydration, and I respond with discussion about a certain type of supplement that could allow you to "hyperhydrate". And would that amount change based on the overall length of workout? Listener Paul asks: I am a 45 yo male. I did one sprint Tri last summer and I am training for 2-3 events this year also. I am a former bodybuilder who always wanted to get involved in endurance/tri training but the bodybuilding kept me from pursuing it due to the inevitable muscle loss. A ruptured disc and subsequent surgery changed all of that and my bodybuilding days are 100% done. I can do some ‘Jane Fonda' workouts but I only do those to maintain some strength for tri training. Anyway, I try to eat right and I think I do pretty well for a weekend warrior. My big question is about diet soda. I do not drink alcohol, smoke or have any real vices expect that I drink a lot of pop (all diet of course). I probably drink 70-100 oz per day and I know that is too much. What is the truth regarding drinking pop? I have read that it is bad but I see a lot of conflicting information. Am I retarding my progress by ingesting this much pop? Is any amount acceptable? I know you are a straight shooter and you can back up your comments with science and that is why I am asking you. I appreciate your time and I will look forward to your answer. Remember, you can now ask your questions to me via the free Skype software by simply "Skyping" me at username "pacificfit". As for why I smell like a spa? We also have a bonus interview in this week's podcast, featuring Martha from ActionWipes! This is the all-natural Sport Spray and Wipe with eucalyptus, tea-tree oil, and a host of other natural ingredients that will give you that instant "I Just Went to the Spa" feeling...even after a hard workout. Martha talks about how the product was invented, and I talk about exactly how I incorporate it into my sports training routine, and why it never leaves my gym bag!
