Text me your email to get on our newslettersThis Week's PresentationWhat's in this recording? During our final free beta testing session for project WePause Weekly, I (Ali) led a discussion on tapping into our inner artist. Eleven years ago, I embarked on a journey as a designer and artist, a pivotal period in my life. Credit goes to my mentor, Wil Heywood, for introducing me to transformative techniques like Morning Pages, Artist Dates, and meditation, which deepened my connection to my consciousness. Honestly, at the time, I didn't fully grasp their impact; I trusted Wil and followed his guidance. However, upon reading Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way" years later, I began to connect the dots. Hence, I resolved to share insights from these practices during our session. The response from our wonderful audience exceeded my expectations; I felt immense joy in sharing the wisdom cultivated by Wil over a decade ago with such remarkable individuals. If you're facing challenges, dedicate 30 minutes to listening to this session and commit to practicing our techniques for a few weeks—I assure you, you'll witness significant changes. I eagerly anticipate discussing your experiences with those who take on this journey. I always find it enriching to learn how these techniques resonate with people. What's on the horizon? We're currently crafting WePause Experiences to provide a platform to deepen these practices beyond our brief gatherings. If you're keen to share your experiences and ideas, don't hesitate to contact me directly via email at ali@wepause.space.Support the Show.*Disclaimer: The information provided in "The Ally Show" is for general informational purposes only. It's important to mention that Ali doesn't necessarily subscribe to astrology, but this conversation shows how these discussions can infuse our daily lives with a sense of wonder and offer guidance through challenging times. Spotify PlaylistLast Friday, during our ninth WePause Weekly session, Stephanie Pereira Lima hosted an inspiring gathering for our community. I (Ali, your host) almost missed the session due to a hectic flight from the West Coast to the East Coast, but thanks to my amazing friends who picked me up from the airport and set everything up, I made it on time. I'm incredibly grateful for their help.Stephanie started by sharing her stressful experiences working in the corporate world in NYC. Then she led us through a breathwork session with a soothing playlist. We practiced the three-part breath (deep inhale into the belly, another into the chest, then an exhale with back pressure) and box breathing, which we also explored in the sixth episode of The Ally Show with Bakari Holmes. The session was quite emotional for me—maybe due to the travel stress or the events of the past week—but when Stephanie asked us to think about what we're grateful for, my mind went straight to my family and friends, who always support me. After the session, I felt so energized that I headed downstairs and enjoyed an amazing weekend with my friends in Toronto. -Soul Purpose Energy Audit is for ambitious, high-achieving spiritual women who feel lost, empty, and disconnected from their soul's purpose, this 20-minute free session is for you. I'll (Stephanie) help identify the energy blocks, limiting beliefs, or core wounds that are preventing you from fully aligning with your soul's purpose. Using astrology, human design, and gene keys, I'll guide you toward greater clarity on where to focus your healing and personal transformation. Sign up to WePause Weekly: https://wepause.space/signupGuess what? Today's WePause session with Alec Sorensen was excellent! We talked about something we all struggle with saying no. Alec, who's been through the trenches of engineering and executive coaching, totally gets the pain.He shared this cool four-step method that's magic for mastering the art of saying no. It's simple but super effective. First, you start with positive feedback and validation, then get specific about what's up, no judgment, next, think about how saying yes or no impacts things, and finally, offer options for sorting it out (or just be silent and ask for nothing.)Alec's story about using this method in a previous role was relatable. He talked about how setting boundaries and speaking up helped him better balance work and life. Plus, he clarified that saying no doesn't have to be awkward or confrontational. At the end of the show, we also practiced writing down how we would apply the four-step practice to a real scenario in our lives, and I loved it. I'm seriously excited to try this out. It feels like a game-changer for handling tough conversations and ensuring we're not overloading ourselves. Presentation Spreadsheet: Love or FearSign up to WePause: https://wepause.space/signupWelcome to our 6th WePause Weekly, where I, Ali Eslamifar, hosted this session. In this session, I had the honor of hosting and building an experience around my favorite topic in mental health: Love. Over the past year, discovering key answers to my questions about love has been life-changing for my mental health. During my experience at Burning Man, I learned for the first time that love is about both giving and receiving and that we don't have to try hard to be loving or to receive love. This Thursday, I wrote a loving-kindness meditation to practice with those who joined our WePause session on Friday. This type of meditation is something I first learned from my mentor, Dr. Wil Heywood, and then expanded using techniques I learned from Sam Harris, Tara Brach, and Jack Kornfield, thanks to all the content they freely publish. Tune in to the recording to vibe with us during this meditation if you're interested, and if not, try it once — it will expand your heart, and you'll see what I mean :)In the second half of the call, I shared a simple practice I learned through experience to notice the motive behind my decisions. During my frustratingly busy times, I often noticed that I made decisions based on fear, so I challenged myself to replace that fear with love. We discussed this technique with the team, and they all made amazing observations that further expanded our thinking on this concept. Today, notice if you're making a decision or doing something out of fear; notice it and see if you can step back and do it differently.Want to join our next WePause meetings live? Sign up to WePause Weekly: https://wepause.space/signupPresentation used on this callWe had a meaningful time in this week's WePause with the wonderful Arezoo! She took the "Let it Flow!" topic to a level I could not imagine. She first dives into the steps we must take for the emotional release technique, including Choosing an activity (e.g., drawing), preparing, setting intention, meditation, letting emotions flow, and journaling... We then started the practice. From a calming meditation session led by Arezoo to expressive drawing (while she played relaxing music), followed by reflective journaling, and finally, sharing our experiences, we were able to express ourselves. I was so surprised about my drawing, as again, another door handle showed up in my drawings, something I always drew as a kid, too. After the drawing exercise, our lovely friends shared how it had impacted them and how much they liked the experience. It was incredible to witness everyone putting fear aside and finding solace in expressing their emotions through art.We are so grateful to Arezoo for leading us through this transformative journey! As someone on the call reminded us, we can't wait to try this again in the future. It would be great if we could set a time monthly to repeat this practice in our own time.Guest Instructor: Dr. Arezoo Momeni Linkedin , Website , Instagram, ShopSupport the show*Disclaimer: The information provided in "The Ally Show" is for general informational purposes only.
