Sus interpretaciones de 'Hum Drum Blues' de Oscar Brown, Jr. y 11 estándares (incluyendo ' Falling in Love With Love ', ' Dat Dere ', ' Baltimore Oriole ' y ' I'm a Fool to Want You ') son a la vez vibrantes y evocadoras".

His work examines new and alternative religious movements, secularism, and the intersections of religion, politics, and sexuality. He holds a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Pretoria, where his thesis explored sex magick as post-theistic spirituality across Eastern, Western, and African esotericism. He also holds an MDiv (focused on Systematic & Historical Theology) and BDiv (focused on Dogmatics & Christian Ethics). As an advocate for the normalisation and destigmatisation of secularism, alternative religions, and marginalised spiritualities, Tristán engages in public education, media commentary, and community support. His insights have been featured in podcasts, news media, and academic conferences worldwide. He is also the founder of Alterity Counselling, a virtual counselling practice supporting individuals from diverse spiritual and non-religious backgrounds across the globe. His non-profit advocacy with the South African Pagan Rights Alliance (SAPRA)—as an executive member, spokesperson, and interfaith officer—along with his community paralegal work, informs his approach to research, activism, and counselling. In this interview, Tristán discusses portions of his captivating dissertation, titled, “Secret self-knowledge: considering sex magick as post-theistic spirituality in Eastern, Western, and African Esotericism.” Highlights of this engaging discussion include:-        Tristán's ideas about a ‘post-theistic spiritual practice,' that distances itself from an external deity and moves toward a non-traditional or non-religious spirituality, with creativity in terms of co-existence between the divine and the individual;-        The underrepresentation of Eastern and African regions with regard to esotericism;-        The negativity surrounding sexuality and the expression of it, including taboos and fetishes (drawing for example on Foucault);-        The inclusion of Conspirituality in this discourse, and how it relates to the notion of the Self;-        Examples of Eastern esoteric sexual practices and what these offer with regard to knowledge of the Self;-        The issue of colonialism and slavery as it relates to Africana esoteric religions;-        How sexuality and the Self are understood in both African Traditional Religion and the Sangoma Tradition;-        The syncretic expressions of the African diaspora as found in African-American Conjure or Supernaturalism;-        The notion of ubuntu, that states a person is a person because of other people;-        His conclusions after all of his research and his future endeavors.PROGRAM NOTESDissertation: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/386987710_Secret_self-knowledge_considering_sex_magick_as_post-theistic_spirituality_in_Eastern_Western_and_African_Esotericism

Musikpodden finns även på:Instagram: Musik_poddenSpotify: Musikpodden med Arvid BranderApple podcast: Musikpodden med Arvid BranderKontakt: podcastarvid@gmail.comKällor:Springsteen, B. This week, Emilio, Julian and Madeline set sail with pop culture writer and Spielberg aficionado Mike Duquette aboard to take on 'Jaws', the landmark film that is celebrating its 50th anniversary this summer.  The group discuss what makes this film so unique in film history, Spielberg's maturation as a nascent Hollywood director, the ways in which the novel and the film differ, the iconic Oscar-winning score by John Williams, the underappreciated performances throughout, and what modern blockbusters could learn from the stakes and scopes of this story.  It's a lovefest for a timeless film that still feels fresh and captivating today as it did when it first hit theaters a half century ago!   Mike Duquette has worked for Legacy Recordings, Rhino Records, Allmusic, Ultimate Classic Rock, Discogs, Observer, uDiscover Music and Mondo Records, where he penned the liner notes to their 40th anniversary vinyl release of John Williams' score to E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. He founded The Second Disc, a website devoted to music reissues and box sets, in 2010, and writes about other music, movies and film novelizations at Duque's Delight.Listeners... what's your first memory of watching a Steven Spielberg film?  Let us know here, and we'll share some of our favorite responses in a future episode: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSehHyTMNV2UaItyxtEr0T6IugLq_Huw6tcb_Nc7cmT5gOXnhg/viewform?usp=headerIf you enjoy our podcast, please rate and review us on your podcast platform of choice.  This really helps us find new listeners and grow!Follow us on IG and TikTok: @sleeplesscinematicpodSend us an email at sleeplesscinematicpod@gmail.comOn Letterboxd? What began as whispers about cursed milk and phantom visions soon spiraled into one of the most disturbing—and forgotten—witchcraft cases in early New England. Was there truly something evil in the woods…?Special thanks to historian and author Malcolm Gaskill, whose extraordinary book The Ruin of All Witches inspired this episode.Malcolm also kindly supplied several historical photographs that appear throughout the video. The Memorial Day weekend brought swarms of tourists to Niagara Falls, eager to celebrate under the sun. Just an hour away, a group of local teens gathered at Wayne Fleet Quarry, diving into the water and marking the unofficial start of summer. Alison and her friends, thrilled to leave the school year behind, decided to up the ante by jumping from an old bridge spanning the quarry. But as they reached the top, something unusual in the water caught their eye: a large, bulky bag emblazoned with "US" in bold, black letters. Curiosity piqued, they made their way down to inspect it. But the water around the bag turned red before they could haul it to shore. This wasn't discarded junk—junk doesn't bleed. Panicked, the teens scrambled up the road, frantically waving down a passing car, whose driver quickly called the police.Join Jen and Cam of Our True Crime Podcast on this episode entitled ‘A Body in the River: The Murder of Dr. Paul Campagna.'Listener discretion is by @octoberpodVHS.All Music is by our Editor @theinkypawprint.This episode is proudly sponsored by Yaman.Welcome to Yaman the very latest and greatest in J-Beauty innovations Listeners can visit YA-MANUSA.com/discount/TCP for a 20% discountAlso proudly sponsored by sleepcreme.comThe World's Original and Finest CBD Topical for SleepOrder your bottle at sleepcreme.com. An impassioned account of the fall and rise of the small American towns she cherishes by Dar Williams.   A musician, educator, author, Dar rose out of the vibrant mid-90's Boston scene, inspired by the eclectic influences of alt-rockers, Berklee jazz musicians, slam poets, and folk artists, After a year of touring non-stop with her first album, The Honesty Room, in 1994, she was invited by Joan Baez to tour in Europe and The United States. To date she has written 14 albums and 6 books. And we wanted two speak with Dar about one of those books. “What I Found in a Thousand Towns” A Traveling Musician's Guide to Rebuilding America's Communities—One Coffee Shop, Dog Run, and Open-Mike Night at a Time(published in 2017). A beloved folk singer presents an impassioned account of the fall and rise of the small American towns she cherishes. Dubbed by the New Yorker as “one of America's very best singer-songwriters,” Dar Williams has made her career not in stadiums, but touring America's small towns. She has played their venues, composed in their coffee shops, and drunk in their bars. She has seen these communities struggle, but also seen them thrive in the face of postindustrial identity crises. Here, Williams muses on why some towns flourish while others fail, examining elements from the significance of history and nature to the uniting power of public spaces and food. Drawing on her own travels and the work of urban theorists, Williams offers real solutions to rebuild declining communities. What I Found in a Thousand Towns is more than a love letter to America's small towns, it's a deeply personal and hopeful message about the potential of America's lively and resilient communities. All Music and Lyrics by James Harrell and Ilyana Kadushin.
