Not everyone is privileged enough to have the things they want in a snap of a hand or even their needs. It drives people to strive harder to attain it. They go out of their way to change how they live their life: figuring out what they should do to make it work and whom to go to for help. Brandon Fong shares his life experiences growing up not being privileged enough, how it forced him to seek advice from experienced people, and his determination and love for the business that runs in their family. Tune in as Brandon discusses his tactics and how he applied the learnings from his father and mentor to attain the things he wants, being an entrepreneur, especially in life, and how powerful the connection is. Quotes: “If you ask for money, you'll get advice. But if you ask for advice, you'll get money. “ - Brandon Fong “My eyes open to the fact that there is a hard way of doing things. And there's an easy way of doing things. “ - Brandon Fong “It's really important to notice patterns.“ - Brandon Fong Takeaways: You shouldn't go to people and ask for money but seek advice from people more experienced than you. And when they see your determination and potential, they will invest in you. Learning how to connect with people who have already achieved what you want to do and how to learn from them directly can help you do things more quickly and avoid years of trial and error. Knowing the patterns can help you find or identify where something went wrong, but it can also help you recognize what you did to make it work.   Conclusion: Don't be afraid or even have second thoughts about going to your parents or people with more experience to seek advice. Because, most of the time, you can't figure things out on your own, and you need help from others. These people are willing to share their hard-fought knowledge and lend you a helping hand; so that you make the right decision.

The Essential 11

Throughout our lifetime, we are taught that opportunities are more prevalent when you have good grades or that you have a degree from college. Even though it is true, opportunities also stem from connecting with people, especially those that have accomplished what you are trying to achieve. How you lead your life depending on how determined you are to achieve your goals will allow opportunities to come to your doorstep. Brandon Fong shares his experiences in writing his own story and creating his own opportunities. Being a teenager seems to be overwhelming when you are at the point of entering adulthood. But fear is completely normal in that phase where you will learn how to create your own story and live the life you want. Stay tuned as Brandon and young leaders talk about self-worth, self-improvement, trials, errors, and writing your own story! Quotes “There are hard ways of doing things, and there's an easy way of doing things. The easy way of doing things is about connecting with people who accomplished what you want to accomplish and learning directly from them to shortcut years of trial and error.” - Brandon Fong “If you feel unworthy to make things happen, you won't actually make your clients happy. There is the trepidation of fearing it, but doing it anyway. That is completely normal and it's supposed to happen. At the end of the day, you have to have the competence and the self-confidence to ask for what you want and know that you'll figure out a way to do it.” - Brandon Fong “Don't worry about getting it right. It's the effort and the care that you're putting into it that matters so much more.” - Brandon Fong Takeaways People are scared to not try to get all of their opportunities from a traditional route where opportunities come as long as you get good grades and go to college. Opportunities are created because of who you are, how you're building your network, and how you're leading in all kinds of different ways. When things are going bad, the things that we tend to say is “something is wrong” or “something is not right”. But if you take the really high-level perspective, it's actually incorrect. It is supposed to be happening and you are 100 % supposed to be going through that downturn. The heroic behavior is being a value-driven and character-driven individual. It is shaking hands, opening doors, and getting back to honoring other people. The heroic behavior sets you apart because you're doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do. Develop that skill set of asking questions and finding out what makes someone tick. The more you can get to know someone, the more they're interested in finding out about you afterward. Young people must learn to embrace the upcoming phase of their life, which is adulthood. Fear is completely normal, especially when they have no clue what to do after their teenage years. The most important thing is learning from mistakes and connecting with people that will help you in the next phase of your life.

Few things bring me more joy than seeing someone shoot their shot, and that's how today's episode came about. I got an email from Brandon Fong saying he loves the show and wants to kick it with me in the Diner and I just had to say yes. Brandon is the host of the podcast 7-figure Millennials and wise beyond his years (which sounds like an old-person thing to say… but, well, he is).  He shared so many nuggets, including a favorite quote by Carl Jung that I loved: “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will control your life and you'll call it fate.” We talked about business, personal growth, psychology, values, and more. He shared his strategy for goal setting and reflection that will have you reaching for your journal before the show is over.   About the Guest:  Brandon Fong is a husband to his highschool sweetheart, Leah, and is on a mission to create a more deeply connected world. While growing up on the government-provided “free lunch program” at school, Brandon realized that his most valuable resource wasn't money… it was his relationships. My first book, Leading Imperfectly: The value of being authentic for leaders, professionals, and human beings, is available wherever people buy books. I speak internationally to willing and unwilling attendees about authenticity, vulnerability, and leadership. My clients include American Express, General Electric (GE), Accenture, Yale University, The Ohio State University, and many others. As a speaker, I am doing the two things I loves the most: making people think and making people laugh!  I host my own events multiple times a year. They are 2-day events called Living Imperfectly Live (and sometimes they are 1-day virtual events). They are a space where humans from every walk of life can come together to be part of a community on the pursuit of badassery. The goal is to help attendees start living the life we say we want to live. Alas, you're here because of an idea I had a number of years ago and didn't think I was good enough to pull it off. I finally acted on it and alas Diner Talks with James was born! As you can see...

In this episode I've pulled together insights from four powerhouse networkers, and each of them is an expert in creating value and building relationships. What they share will make sure you grow your network powerfully and authentically, so that your business or career prospers and you make some great friends along the way. Devora Zack has carved out a reputation as a networking guru, and what she has to share about authentic networking is valid whether you're doing it online or eyeball to eyeball.  She's been featured in many publications and media such as the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, USA Today, Women's Health and Fast Company - to name but a few! Stefan Thomas believes that putting effort into building and sustaining relationships at scale, over time, has benefits for every person, whether they own their own business, work for a company, or do a mixture of both. The trouble is that as Stefan says: “What most people think networking is, and what it actually is, are two very different things.” Peter Beaumont has led the marketing teams for some of the most iconic global brands, in a career spanning over 80 countries. In that time he figured out the secret to managing and building strategic business relationships, and now he speaks and consults with other companies using his six step process to help them develop more powerful connections and take things to the next level. Brandon Fong learned lessons at a young age from his parents that enabled him to master three of the most important skills that an entrepreneur needs for success. At 22 using those skills he made a connection that would change his life. He has continued to build on those skills and today he is on the journey to his own seven figure business and is helping entrepreneurs use his ‘Magic Connection' method to develop relationships that will change their lives too. Enjoy!   What you'll discover:  Devora: Four great tips for getting the most out of a networking event. Why you should follow up and what to consider in your follow-up to increase the chances of them saying yes. How to avoid the traps that damage rapport. Addressing the balance of speaking and listening in networking conversations.   Stefan: Whether you should always agree to 121 follow ups.  Getting the balance right in 121 conversations between asking versus telling. Why you should take advantage of longer speaking slots in networking meetings. Why storytelling is important for successful networking and marketing.   Peter: How to define the key relationships you need to influence and develop. The important ingredients for developing strategic partnerships. How you know if you're doing ‘human to human' business relationships right.    Brandon: The ‘Ikea effect' and how you can use this principle to add value to people who are more successful than you. The slipstream technique and how you can use it to accelerate your success. Brandon's ‘Magic Connection' method and the three ingredients for success. The benefits of ‘no' oriented questions and how to use them. An example of an email using Brandon's ‘magic connection' method, which helped him change his life at 22.    Guest Links: All things Devora: Website: https://www.myonlyconnect.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/devora.zack  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/devora-zack Books*: Networking for People Who Hate Networking Singletasking: Get More Done One Thing at a Time Managing for People Who Hate Managing All things Stefan: stefanthomas.biz https://www.linkedin.com/in/stefanthomasnetworking/ https://www.instagram.com/thenetworkingretreat/ Books*: Instant Networking by Stefan Thomas Business Networking for Dummies by Stefan Thomas Win the Room by Stefan Thomas   All things Brandon: https://brandon-fong.com Search for the The 7 Figure Millennials Podcast Magic Connection Method: www.magicconnectionmethod.com  Coupon Code for the accelerator program: 7FM More advanced training and bonuses: www.bfo.ng/tsc   Twitter: @BrandonSFong   All things Peter: Website: http://connxn.net LinkedIn: Peter M Beaumont Twitter: @pbeaumConnXN Email: peter.beaumont@ConnXN.net    Books*:The Relationship Roadmap - Peter Beaumont   Full Episode Links The Inside Track to Networking Like a Boss! I'll explain more fully in this week's episode, but here's the short of it: Sometimes you can't see what you're too close to. On my wedding day, my mentor and dear friend Jewels Duncan came to celebrate with us and met my family. Because of that, Jewels gave me more clarity on why I am the way I am. SO. Because of my greater level of clarity, Jewels and I decided to record a special episode where she is the interviewer… and I'm the guest! In this episode, you'll learn: 1. How the ethos for 7-Figure Millennials was actually created before I was even born by my parents 2. How I've been able to get incredibly high caliber people to appear on my show… and what that has to do with a lesson my Dad taught me while playing pool as a 4-year-old 3. About the guest:     As a 6th grader, Brandon HATED lunch. Like any self-conscious 11-year-old, he cared deeply about what his friends thought of him.... and didn't want his friends to find out that his family qualified for free lunch. 13 years later, he considers that experience to be one of the best things that ever happened to him. It was that experience that taught him that resourcefulness is a far greater asset than any resource. From that moment onward, resourcefulness began to play a critical role in his life. In college, Brandon acquired $30,000+ in scholarships, published a book, worked on his first startup company, studied abroad twice, graduated summa cum laude with a double major in entrepreneurship and marketing with a minor in Spanish, and was selected to deliver the student commencement speech. After graduation, he spent an entire year traveling the world (now up to 23 countries) with his wife while running the marketing for SuperHuman Academy — a 7-figure online education company with over 250,000 students. During that time, his mentor helped him to become the youngest member of Genius Network (an exclusive $25,000/year mastermind for elite 7-figure entrepreneurs) and launch his first online product that generated $44,738 in one week. In 2019, he was named to Wisconsin's “Top 25 Under 25” list and was a finalist on season 4 of Wisconsin's hit TV show, Project Pitch It. Today, Brandon is focused on his newest brand called 7-Figure Millennials. Greetings, SuperFriends! Welcome to a very special episode of the show! You see, this week we are joined by my right-hand man, Brandon Fong. He runs up a lot of our company's efforts and is really the swiss army knife at SuperHuman Enterprises. As a college student, Brandon published a four-category Amazon best-selling book, launched and failed at his first startup venture, acquired tens of thousands of dollars of scholarships, and traveled to 13 different countries while pursuing a double major in entrepreneurship and marketing with a digital marketing emphasis, and a minor in Spanish. His work has also been featured in Fast Company, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Huffington Post, and the School for Startups radio. But, that's not why Brandon is on the show today. Brandon is on the show because, 9 months before graduation, he leveraged his brand and experiences to secure a 100% remote marketing position at his dream company - and yes, that is my company. After joining the company, Brandon became one of the most valuable team members we have, and he's helped me grow the business. Now, what does this have to do with being SuperHuman? Well, it turns out that none of this happened by accident. Brandon had actually spent years developing his own methodology for working his way into the inner circles of some of the most influential and successful people in the world, and then getting them to lovingly mentor him and invest in him and his future efforts. Again, this did not happen by accident. Brandon has worked with people like Kevin Harrington, Noah Kagan, myself, Ben Hardy, and many more, and in this episode, he's going to teach you exactly how he does it. He's going to teach you how to stand out from every other job candidate, whether you're young, old, experienced, or a novice, and he's going to show you a different and better way to make yourself stand out so you can be more competitive and more successful in the job market. And I know that appeals to every single one of us. So, I think you're really going to enjoy this episode - I definitely did. -Jonathan Levi
