Student loan changes just hit millions of borrowers, and most have no idea their credit is about to take a hit. Here's the September 30 deadline that decides how bad it gets, and where credit repair pros come in. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: HERE On July 1, 2026, a new law rewrote the federal student loan system. The SAVE plan is dead and a couple of older income-based plans are being phased out. New monthly payments nobody budgeted for are rolling out, and collections are set to switch back on. Most borrowers have no clue any of this happened, so the damage lands on their credit reports before they ever get a letter. Daniel Rosen walks through the reporting errors that show up every time the loan world reshuffles, and the one date that saves people real money: set up autopay by September 30 to lock in an interest cut of up to one percent through mid-2028. Whether you started your credit repair business last week or you've been doing this for years, this is the moment to be the expert people turn to when the system stops making sense. Tune in! P.S. Credit repair business growth, the student loan dispute wave, and the fastest score win you can put on a client's report. Daniel Rosen breaks down three shifts happening in the 2026 credit market and the exact move to make on each. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: HERE The national average FICO score has fallen for the second year in a row, and Daniel walks through what that really means for Credit Heroes. First, the student loan wave: reporting has resumed, more than 9 million borrowers fell past-due, and a lot of that reporting is messy with wrong dates, wrong balances, and wrong status you can dispute with specifics. Second, the quick-win fix on utilization. Daniel explains why paying a card down before the statement closing date, not the due date, can move a score on the very next update. It's the fast result that earns a skeptical client's trust in week one. Third, the build play most Credit Heroes are sleeping on. Gen Z is opening credit earlier with thin files and nothing to dispute, so what they need is credit building through secured cards, credit-builder loans, authorized user status, and reporting rent. It's a different service for a different customer, and a whole audience competitors are ignoring. Tune in! P.S. Is there a crisis quietly building in the U.S. auto industry? Car prices surged. Monthly payments exploded. Consumers took on larger loans at higher interest rates—and now we're starting to see signs of stress. In today's episode, we're diving into a great viewer question about the health of the U.S. auto market and, more specifically, the growing concern surrounding auto loan delinquencies and defaults. The numbers deserve attention. U.S. auto loan balances have climbed to roughly $1.7 trillion, while serious delinquencies remain elevated. At the same time, consumers originated a record $211 billion in new auto loans during the second quarter of 2026. So the big question is: Are we looking at normal consumer-credit stress—or the early stages of something much bigger? On today's show, we'll break down: Why auto loans have become increasingly difficult for consumers to afford What rising delinquencies and defaults are telling us How higher interest rates changed the economics of buying a vehicle What happens when borrowers become upside-down on their car loans Whether repossessions could create additional pressure on used-car prices How falling used-car values could ripple through lenders and dealerships Which parts of the auto industry may be most vulnerable Whether this could become a broader problem for the U.S. economy We'll also look at the investment side of the equation. If stress in auto credit continues to build, who gets hurt first? Automakers? Dealerships? Used-car retailers? Banks? Subprime lenders? And perhaps more importantly... Where could the trading opportunities be? One thing is important to keep in perspective: the data doesn't currently prove that we're facing an auto version of the 2008 housing crisis. The New York Fed's latest data shows that the flow of auto loans entering serious delinquency has recently been relatively stable, even though overall stress remains elevated. That's exactly why this topic is so interesting. The warning lights are flashing—but that doesn't necessarily mean the engine is about to blow. We'll separate the social-media hype from the actual numbers and determine just how concerned traders and investors should be. For additional research, check out the New York Fed Household Debt and Credit Report, which tracks auto loans, credit cards, mortgages and consumer delinquencies. Listen now:

Credit sweeps are a federal felony, and credit repair business owners are going to prison for them. FCRA attorney Haseeb Hussain joins Daniel and Keenan to explain exactly where credit repair ends and where a felony begins. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: HERE Haseeb sues Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion for a living, and he has watched the credit sweep problem explode. A sweep means telling the bureaus that legitimate debts came from identity theft, and every fake letter or FTC report can stack up mail fraud, wire fraud, and CROA violations. He walks through the real cases: operators handed five, eight, even ten years in federal prison, profits disgorged, and clients pulled in as accomplices. He also gets into the ugliest new variant, credit repair companies filing fake human trafficking claims to exploit the Debt Bondage Repair Act, and why enforcement is ramping up fast. Then he flips it to what legitimate, defensible credit repair actually looks like. It comes back to one word: inaccuracies. Running the report line by line with your client, sending clear disputes, and building a real FCRA case when an inaccuracy actually causes harm. You will also hear the exact steps to take in real identity theft, from freezing your reports to filing police, FTC, and CFPB reports, plus why background check errors can be some of the most valuable FCRA cases and the credit myths Haseeb wishes would die. Credit building is the other half of your credit repair business, and most Credit Heroes are leaving it on the table. Daniel Rosen breaks down how to help clients build credit from scratch, report rent as credit history, and keep clients paying you long after the deletions come through. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: HERE Repair clears the negatives, but a lot of clients are left with a thin file and a score that has nothing to grow on. What actually moves a score comes down to on-time payment history, low utilization under 30%, and some age and mix built up over time. Feed those, and you finish the transformation instead of stopping halfway. The fastest win is rent. If you're on Credit Hero Score, BuildCredit Rent reports a client's on-time rent as credit history and can back-fill up to 24 months, so two years of positive history can show up on the file with results usually landing in about 30 days. Only on-time payments get reported, so there's no new debt for your client to worry about. Once the rent is reporting, pair it with a secured card kept under 30% for a well-rounded file. Here's why it matters for your business: every repair client you finish is already a fit for building, so there's no new lead to chase and no trust to rebuild. Repair has an ending, but building is a reason clients stay with you month after month. Offer it right after a win, lead with rent because it's the easiest yes there is, and you turn a bill they're already paying into a stronger score for them and recurring income for you. Tune in! P.S. A credit report audit before Round 1 is the difference between fast credit repair results and months of wasted dispute rounds, and most Credit Heroes skip it. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: http://startrepairingcredit.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=344&utm_term=creditrepair Daniel Rosen has spent more than 20 years in this business, and he sees the same mistake constantly. A Credit Hero opens a new client's report, sees a pile of negatives, grabs a template, and fires off disputes on everything at once. Thirty days later half of it comes back "verified," and the whole case stalls. The reason is simple: there was never a plan. Round 1 went out before anyone actually read the file. That is what the audit fixes. Before you dispute a single item, you read the whole report top to bottom and check: Personal info for old or mixed-up names, addresses and employers The positive open accounts that are helping the file, so you know not to touch them Credit utilization, which sometimes holds the score down more than the negatives do The damage itself: late payments, charge-offs and collections Experian, Equifax and TransUnion against each other, since they rarely match The good news is you don't have to do any of that by hand. Inside Credit Repair Cloud, you click Import/Audit, pick your template, and the Simple Audit reads the report and lays it all out. You can even show that audit to a lead on a consultation so they can see exactly where they stand, which is what turns a lead into a paying client. Once you know the file, then you dispute, starting with verification and putting the burden of proof on the bureau or furnisher. From there you factually dispute the real errors with your proof behind them. Tune in! P.S. The 609 letter myth is one of the most sold and misunderstood ideas in credit repair, and in this episode Daniel Rosen explains why it fails and what real Credit Heroes do instead. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: http://startrepairingcredit.com/?utm_source=podcast&utm_medium=audio&utm_campaign=343&utm_term=business Daniel has spent over 20 years in credit repair and helped thousands of people build businesses from nothing, so he has watched this myth cost people money and trust. The pitch is everywhere: pay $27 for a template that supposedly forces the bureaus to delete any debt, even real debt. It isn't true, and Daniel shows exactly where the idea breaks down. Section 609 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act is a disclosure right. It lets you ask what's in your file and where it came from, but it doesn't give you the power to dispute anything. The real leverage lives in Section 611, your right to dispute. When you challenge a genuine error, the bureau has about 30 days to investigate, and if it can't verify the item, it has to correct or delete it. Daniel also walks through the process that actually moves scores: pull all three reports, audit them line by line for real inaccuracies and Metro 2 reporting errors, dispute the specifics under 611, then rebuild, since payment history is 35% of the score. For anyone running a credit repair business, he explains why honest expectations protect you from chargebacks and complaints, and why trust is what turns clients into referrals and repeat business. Building a successful credit repair business takes more than the right tactics. After 20 years and over 100 credit repair millionaires, Daniel Rosen shares what really separates the owners who make it from the ones who quit. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: HERE Daniel pulls from his own story here. In 2002, a bank error wrecked his credit and nearly cost him his house, and what kept him going was anger that eventually turned into a mission. He sees the same pattern across the Millionaires Club. The people who start only for the money tend to fold once the business gets hard, while the ones who stay usually watched bad credit hurt someone they love. The way he frames it, mission outlasts motivation. The most common reason Daniel watches Credit Heroes quit is timing. They stop right before the results show up. When you send disputes, the credit bureaus get 30 days to respond and deletions can take 30 to 45 days, so there's a long stretch of silence that feels a lot like failure. His advice is to change what you measure: track the activity you can control, like how many disputes went out this week and how many new clients or referral partners you reached. The silence is part of the process. From there it's about building something that runs without you. Daniel suggests documenting one process this week, like your client onboarding, then handing off the steps that don't need you, whether to a team member or to software. That's where Credit Repair Cloud comes in, automating the dispute process and the client portal, plus the status updates that eat your time. He also points to the Millionaire's Journey, the seven-stage roadmap his Millionaires Club members follow, and reminds Credit Heroes that the knowledge and the tools can all be learned. The one thing nobody can do for you is decide that this is real and you're not stopping. Tune in! P.S. Your credit score went up but you still got denied for a loan, and the reason is debt-to-income ratio (DTI), the number lenders actually use to approve a mortgage and the one most credit repair clients never see coming. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: HERE The score gets your client noticed. The DTI gets them approved. So before you build a plan, ask every new client what they want to qualify for, what their timeline is, and what the rest of their financial picture looks like. Lead with the goal and you'll spot a denial before the lender does. DTI is simple math that almost nobody explains to clients. Add up their monthly debt payments, divide by their gross monthly income, and that percentage is the number. Most lenders want to see 43% or below, though conventional loans can stretch to 45% or even 50% with strong compensating factors like great credit and cash reserves. You move that number two ways, lowering the payments or raising documented income. Knocking out an installment loan with fewer than 10 payments left often gets the whole payment dropped from the calculation. Keep an eye on student loans, which can count against a client even in deferment. And when a big purchase is close, bring in a mortgage broker to run the exact numbers. Tune in! P.S. Credit repair dispute mistakes, FCRA dispute letters, and the rookie errors that get your disputes ignored or rejected. Daniel Rosen walks through the five most common dispute mistakes and exactly how to fix each one so the credit bureaus have to respond. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: HERE Disputing looks simple on the surface. You write a letter, you send it, you wait. But the bureaus are actively looking for reasons to dismiss your disputes as frivolous, and most beginners hand them an easy out without realizing it. Daniel explains why citing the wrong law, or skipping the legal citation entirely, kills a dispute before it starts, and why Section 611 of the FCRA is what puts the bureaus on the clock. From there he covers timing and targeting. Disputing a brand-new collections account too early can backfire, and going after accurate negative items just because you don't like them burns goodwill you'll want later. Daniel shows how to focus your disputes on genuinely inaccurate, unverifiable, or incomplete items, why disputing no more than five at a time keeps your submissions from getting flagged, and how vague language like "this doesn't seem right" gets round-filed while specific, legal, actionable wording forces a real response. The biggest mistake of all is giving up after one round. The bureaus are counting on you to get frustrated and walk away, so Daniel lays out what to do when a dispute comes back verified: send a Method of Verification letter, go directly to the furnisher, and document everything. Whether you're just starting your credit repair business or fixing a process that isn't working, this episode is a practical playbook for getting disputes done right. Tune in! P.S. The number one reason credit repair clients cancel isn't disputes, pricing, or service quality. It's silence. Daniel Rosen reveals the retention system top CRC millionaires use to keep clients longer, drive referrals, and grow without more ad spend. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: http://startrepairingcredit.com/ The average credit repair client stays 117 days with a lifetime value of around $500. Keep those same clients for nine months instead of four, and your year-one revenue nearly doubles. Sixty-eight percent of customers leave because of perceived indifference. They don't think you're incompetent. They don't think you don't care. They just feel forgotten, and that is entirely fixable. Daniel walks through the 4-part retention system that runs automatically inside Credit Repair Cloud, including the TSR-compliant self-service sign-up, the new secure client access mobile app, automated communication through the CRC Marketing Hub, and the 48-hour rule for milestone celebrations. In this episode of The Consumer Finance Podcast, Chris Willis talks with Dan Smith, president and CEO of the Consumer Data Industry Association, about current challenges and changes in the U.S. consumer reporting system. They discuss how reliable credit information supports fair lending decisions and helps lenders understand a borrower's ability to repay. The conversation touches on rising FCRA litigation, new state efforts affecting what can appear on credit reports — especially medical debt — and the growing issue of “credit washing,” where large volumes of questionable disputes can hide accurate information and slow resolution of real errors. The episode also highlights the importance of working with regulators and policymakers to preserve a nationwide credit reporting system that is complete, accurate, and consistent in supporting responsible lending and access to credit. The word "verified" stops most people cold, but it shouldn't stop you. Daniel Rosen pulls back the curtain on e-OSCAR, the automated system the credit bureaus have been using since 1993, and shows credit heroes exactly how to push past it. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: http://startrepairingcredit.com/ No one reads the letter. No one looks at the documentation. The bureau converts the entire argument into one of 29 three-digit codes and sends it to the creditor's automated system. A 2007 congressional report found that the bureaus used the same four codes more than 90% of the time. Daniel walks through what a "reasonable investigation" actually means under the FCRA, how to structure disputes that force creditors to look at specific claims with specific evidence, and what to do when verified comes back again, including filing a CFPB complaint. Utility collections, telecom collections, and cable bill collections are some of the fastest wins in credit repair — and right now, with bureaus scrambling to add alternative data to credit reports, the system is more overwhelmed than ever. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: http://startrepairingcredit.com/ When a utility or telecom bill goes to collections, the collector usually receives a very thin file: a name, maybe an old address, a balance, and sometimes an account number. What's missing is everything that matters — service agreements, itemized billing statements, payment history, and proof the account belongs to your client. That gap is your leverage. Daniel walks through how to demand full validation, dispute factual errors like wrong balances and wrong service addresses, challenge identity and service address mismatches, escalate to the CFPB when collectors stall, and check the statute of limitations on older debts. These fast wins matter beyond the dispute letter. When clients see negative items coming off early, they trust the process, stay enrolled longer, and start referring friends and family — which is how credit repair businesses actually grow. Tune in! When credit bureaus refuse to fix errors on your clients' reports, the next step isn't another letter. It's a lawsuit. Ian MacGillivray from McCarthy Law joins Daniel Rosen and Keenan Jones to break down the credit report errors that lead to legal action. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: http://startrepairingcredit.com/ Most credit heroes send dispute letters and wait. But when bureaus fail to correct legitimate errors, the law allows consumers to sue. McCarthy Law has assisted over 150,000 clients with FCRA litigation at no cost to the consumer. Clients can recover between $1,000 and $2,500 in damages. Ian walks through 10 specific violations his firm takes to court. These range from balances reporting on paid accounts to debts showing up after bankruptcy discharge. He also shares the dispute letter language his firm recommends and what separates a litigation-ready case from one that needs more documentation. Credit repair businesses can earn $400 for every referred client whose case gets filed. Ian covers how the affiliate portal works, what to submit, and how to make the handoff smooth for your clients. Marine veteran, Millionaires Club recipient, and Credit Repair Expo 2026 speaker Joshua Rico joins Daniel Rosen and Keenan Jones to share how he went from a 500 credit score to a million-dollar credit repair business. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: http://startrepairingcredit.com/ While deployed in Iraq, a family member stole $6,000 from Joshua's bank account and tanked his credit. He came home to denials on apartments, denials on cars, and an 18.74% APR on the one vehicle he could get. After cycling through MLMs, phone flipping, barbering, and other ventures, the pandemic forced him to ask what he could actually build online. He found Credit Repair Cloud, finished the masterclass in two weeks, and landed 50 clients in his first month. Joshua breaks down every layer of his business: the $99/month recurring model, the organic marketing system built on video testimonials, and the disputing tactics his team uses daily. He explains why he stopped sending letters two years ago, how he uses upload portals, CFPB complaints, and social media disputes instead, and walks through his process for cleaning up personal information on credit reports. He also shares a late payment removal script, his approach to hard inquiries, and the pledge loan strategy he recommends for credit building. Tune in! P.S. Daniel Rosen reveals the simple four-step system that Credit Repair Millionaires have used to get their first 100 clients in 90 days using nothing but Facebook groups. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: http://startrepairingcredit.com/ Most credit repair business owners hit the same wall early on. They've got the skills, they've got the software, they're ready to start changing lives — but they have no idea where their first client is coming from. They post on their personal page. Crickets. They tell a few friends. Nothing. Then they drop a link in a Facebook group and get kicked out. This episode lays out the exact playbook for showing up in Facebook groups the right way. Daniel walks through where to find the groups your ideal clients are already in — first-time home buyers, debt consolidation communities, financial freedom groups — and how to build trust before you ever ask for the sale. He also shares what Stephen Gomez and Lakia Allen did differently: they posted daily value, sparked real conversations, moved those conversations into DMs, and then sent people to their self-service signup page in Credit Repair Cloud. No sales calls. No pressure. Just a repeatable system that works. Tune in! P.S. Join Our FREE Start Repairing Credit Challenge: http://startrepairingcredit.com/ Millie Marie built multiple six-figure businesses after starting in credit repair — and it wasn't until she stopped relying on social media posts alone and built a real backend system that her revenue became predictable. In this episode, she walks through her 3-step Social Media Lead Domination framework: optimize your Facebook profile like a landing page, connect a lead magnet funnel, and drive free traffic through content, community engagement, and organic outreach. Learn how to prepare for early retirement and deal with credit report errors that won't go away. Why are credit report errors getting harder to fix? How do you prepare for retirement if you may have to stop working earlier than expected? Hosts Sean Pyles and Elizabeth Ayoola discuss early retirement planning to help you understand how to build a backup plan before an income shock forces your hand. But first, news writer Anna Helhoski joins Sean Pyles to discuss ProPublica's reporting on weaker Consumer Financial Protection Bureau oversight and credit bureau complaint handling with Joel Jacobs, data reporter at ProPublica. They discuss falling relief rates at Experian and TransUnion, how errors can damage borrowing and housing options, and what records to keep when you challenge a mistake. Then, after a prompt from listener Lisa, Sean and Elizabeth discuss preparing for an early or forced retirement. They discuss how to pressure-test your nest egg with a CFP, how tools like the 72(t) rule and Social Security can help cover an income gap before age 59½, and how part-time work, lower debt, and cheaper housing can make an unexpected retirement more manageable. What do Bigfoot and credit reports have in common? They're both surrounded by myths. While we may never settle the question of an eight-foot-tall creature wandering the woods, we can clear up the confusion around credit reports. On this episode of Faith & Finance, Neile Simon, a Certified Credit Counselor with Christian Credit Counselors, stops by to clear up some of the most common misconceptions about credit reports and credit scores. Understanding how credit really works can help you avoid costly mistakes and make wiser financial decisions. Myth #1: Paying Off Debt Instantly Fixes Your Credit Paying down debt is always a good step—but it doesn't instantly produce a perfect credit score. A credit score reflects your history of borrowing and repayment. Lenders use it as a snapshot of how responsibly you've managed credit over time. That means improvement takes patience. The most important habit is simple: consistently pay your bills on time. Over time, that steady pattern will strengthen your credit profile. And beware of anyone claiming they can “fix your credit overnight.” Building good credit always takes time. Myth #2: Credit Counseling Ruins Your Credit Score Many people fear that seeking help will damage their credit—but that's not true. Participating in a credit counseling program is considered a neutral mark on your credit report. What can affect your score is closing accounts, not the counseling itself. In fact, nonprofit credit counseling agencies often help people regain control of their finances through structured debt management plans. If you seek help, make sure the organization is accredited and nonprofit. That's why Christian Credit Counselors is the only organization we recommend for credit counseling and debt management. Myth #3: Canceling Credit Cards Boosts Your Score Closing credit cards may seem responsible, but it can actually lower your credit score. Why? Because it reduces your available credit, which increases your credit utilization ratio—a key factor in credit scoring. If you have credit cards with zero balances and no annual fees, keeping them open can actually help your score. If you must close accounts, do it gradually—perhaps one every six months—to minimize the impact. Myth #4: Too Many Inquiries Hurt Your Score This myth was once more accurate than it is today. Credit bureaus now recognize that consumers shop for loans. If you're applying for a mortgage or car loan, multiple inquiries within a short window—typically about 45 days—are counted as a single inquiry. That means you can compare offers without damaging your credit score. And when it comes to checking your own credit report, that's considered a soft inquiry, which does not affect your score at all. In fact, it's wise to check your credit regularly to monitor for fraud or mistakes. Myth #5: You Don't Need to Check Your Credit If You Pay Bills on Time Even responsible borrowers should check their credit reports. Studies suggest that a large percentage of credit reports contain errors. Reviewing your report once or twice a year allows you to catch mistakes or fraudulent activity early. You can obtain free reports from all three major bureaus at AnnualCreditReport.com. Correcting errors can take time—sometimes up to 90 days—so staying proactive is important. Myth #6: All Credit Reports Are the Same There are three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Each may contain slightly different information because creditors don't always report to all three bureaus, and updates may occur at different times. Different lenders may also use different scoring models depending on the type of loan—auto, mortgage, or credit card. For the most complete picture, it's wise to review all three reports. Myth #7: Divorce Automatically Removes Joint Debt Divorce agreements may divide debts between spouses—but they don't change the original credit contract. If your name remains on a joint account, you're still legally responsible for the debt. If the other person misses payments, your credit score can suffer too. That's why it's important to close joint accounts or refinance debts into one person's name whenever possible. Myth #8: All Negative Marks Disappear After Seven Years Some negative items disappear after seven years—but not all. For example: Chapter 13 bankruptcy: up to 7 years Chapter 7 bankruptcy: up to 10 years Positive closed accounts: can remain for 10 years The good news is that positive information usually stays longer than negative information, helping your score recover over time. Myth #9: You Can Pay Someone to “Fix” Your Credit Many companies promise fast credit repair—but most simply send dispute letters to creditors. If the information on your credit report is accurate, it cannot be removed. That means many consumers pay fees without seeing real results. The truth is, you can dispute errors yourself for free. Christian Credit Counselors provides free resources and sample dispute letters to help you correct inaccuracies. The Bottom Line Understanding how credit works empowers you to use it wisely. Credit reports aren't mysterious or magical—they simply reflect how consistently and responsibly you've handled debt over time. With accurate information, good habits, and a little patience, you can build a strong credit profile that supports your financial goals. And when challenges arise, seeking wise counsel and staying informed can help you move toward greater financial freedom. If you're struggling with credit card debt, Christian Credit Counselors can help. They've helped thousands of people get out of debt 80% faster while honoring their financial obligations.
