According to the tale, if you throw a coin into the water, the boy will throw it back. The Cross Castle: Remains of a stone structure known as the Cross Castle attract attention. Built in 1905 by Richard Cross, the castle fell into disrepair after a fire. Steve Cooper talks with Joe Lynn Turner. Joe is best known for being lead singer of Rainbow from 1980-1984 and for his solo career. With Rainbow his vocals powered the seminal Difficult to Cure in 1981, going gold in the UK, France, and Japan in addition to cracking the Top 50 of the Billboard Top 200 and Top 3 on the UK Top Albums Chart. A year later, he ignited their Straight Between the Eyes, which spawned the Hot 100 hit “Stone Cold.” During 1988, a Polygram VP wanted him to extend his writing and singing skills to collaborate with legendary shred virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen for his project Rising Force. Their album, Odyssey, scaled the Top 40 of the Top 200. Not long after, he reteamed with Blackmore for Deep Purple's Slaves and Masters [1990], reaching gold status in Switzerland and Japan. In addition, he has co-written for and appeared on classics such as Mick Jones's Mick Jones, Riot's The Privilege of Power and Lita Ford's Dangerous Curves, to name a few. Not to mention, he lent his background vocals to Michael Bolton's double-platinum The Hunger, Cher's platinum Cher, Billy Joel's Storm Front [1989], and many more.

Melbourne hard rock outfit Dangerous Curves are set to drop their second album Summertime Highs on July 16, an album which expands on their glam rock roots and shows the band moving even more into a territory bearing their signature sounds.After debut album So Dirty Right cemented Dangerous Curves as a band on the rise with it's 80s L.A Sunset Strip vibe, Summertime Highs expands on that familiar sound, breaking new ground for the band and offering up a slab of rock fuelled goodness that will serve to broaden their reach even further.Bass player Will Saw Joined HEAVY just ahead of the album's release."Being the first album - I joined the band around 2018, so second album for the band, first album for me - Cammy came in with a few riffs, our guitarist, some were a bit heavier, some were a bit softer, and we've just gone for a nice blend of both,” Saw explained. “The last album was very much that 80s glam L.A sort of rock style, but with this one we've still kept our favourite elements of that era but put it out our own way and shifted towards a more modern sound.”In the full interview Will talks us through the album a bit more, the single Good And The Bad, surviving Covid as a band, the postponement of their launch party on July 16, the line between imitation and inspiration and where to draw it and more.

Born and raised on a small farm in Hassetts, Nova Scotia, Brent Williams developed a love and appreciation for music at an early age. One-night stands in the Maritimes in their early teens with fellow Afro-Canadian and lifelong friend Harry Cromwell, signalled the beginning of a life in music for Brent. The Birch Mountain Boys were one of the first groups to play and perform live Bluegrass music in Canada. Following the Birch Mountain Boys, the ‘Brent & Harry Show' was formed. Two LPs were recorded during that time – ‘Country Special' and ‘More Country with Brent & Harry'. In subsequent years, Brent toured extensively and made regular television appearances on programs including Don Messer's Jubilee, The Maritime Playboys, and The Marcel Martel Show. Settling into a solo career, he recorded ‘Soft Soft Shoulders and Dangerous Curves' which was a significant regional hit in the Toronto area and led to numerous releases including the Nashville recordings of ‘Back Home in Georgia' and ‘Till I Can't Take it Anymore'. Brent has released 23 albums, had a number of songs appearing on the national charts and was nominated for a CCMA. In 2013 he received the honour of being inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame and in 2015, Brent received the prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the African Nova Scotian Music Association. An accomplished musician, consummate entertainer and truly a pioneer in many facets of the music industry in Canada, it was a great pleasure to speak with Mr. Brent Williams. In this week's Clara Bow Acteurist Oeuvre-view episode, we're finally there: Clara's first two sound films, both from 1929. First, we engage in an extensive analysis of Dorothy Arzner's The Wild Party, Clara's talkie debut. The star plays a college girl rebelling against the Victorian strictures on campus sexuality, but yearning for the loftier aims of her studious roommate and the handsome new anthropology professor (played by Fredric March). One of 1929's great films, The Wild Party is a winning mixture of Austenesque coming-of-age moral trajectory and polymorphously perverse sensuality that only Bow and Arzner could pull off. But then, we get something much odder: Lothar Mendes' Dangerous Curves takes two tendencies of the Bow persona, her active heroism and her comic pathos, to their logical extremes. The result this produces at the movie's climax has to be seen to be believed. (Hint: it involves risking death in a clown suit.) But is Mendes crazy enough to pull off this crazy plot? A tale of revenge that features a "dead" woman getting back at the man who killed her.

Alternate Title: "Dorkazord Truth" How often do you see a podcast dedicate an entire podcast to another podcast?  That's what we've done.  The reason?  Star Trek fans are a close-knit bunch, and when connected by dick-and-fart jokes there's nothing we won't do to show our appreciation.  There's been, drawings, memes, cosplay, drinking games, karaoke, pins, ten forward hangs, and t-shirts, but 'round these parts... we make podcasts. "The Greatest Generation", a podcast hosted by Adam Pranica and Benjamin Harrison, is the best thing to happen to Star Trek since Data hooked up with Tasha Yar.  Their podcast has equal parts analysis and sarcasm.  If you grew up loving Star Trek and being a little bit embarrassed to admit it, their podcast is easy to find.  And their community of fans are easy to join. And they are wrapping up their hilarious reviews of the "The Next Generation".  At this point only a handful of episodes left.  And then we travel with them through the space butthole to Deep Space Nine.  I don't need to sell "Greatest Gen" too much here, they are doing fine on their own.  Millions of downloads and dozens of drunk Shimodas can't be wrong.   This episode is not just about the Greatest Gen, it's about their amazing community of fans, which Chuck and I are proud to be part of.  On our podcast (this episode right here in your hands) the "Friends of Desoto" get to say their thanks to Ben & Adam for making ST:TNG something to laugh about again - amongst peers... in social groups!
