It Can’t Be Stated Enough… Fuck You James Gunn. This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl review episode 3 of Dune: Prophecy. Then the day of sadness has arrived when they have to review the FINAL of Superman & Lois (Supes & Lolo if you’re nasty). Episode Index Intro: 0:07 Dunc: Prophecy: 3:41 Supes & Lolo: 16:18 Dune: Prophecy (HBO Max) Out of 5 Harkonnen by Any Other Name is Still a Hogs Darryl: 3.81/5 Brian: 3.89/5 Summary In Episode 3 of Dune: Prophecy, titled “Sisterhood Above All,” the narrative delves into the complex past of the Harkonnen sisters, Valya and Tula, shedding light on their motivations and the origins of their vendetta against House Atreides. Flashback to Lankiveil: The episode predominantly unfolds through a flashback to the sisters' harsh upbringing on the icy planet of Lankiveil. Valya (portrayed by Jessica Barden) is depicted as ambitious and resolute, determined to restore her family's tarnished honor. Her brother, Griffin, shares this sentiment and ventures to confront Vorian Atreides, only to return dead. This tragedy fuels Valya's desire for retribution against House Atreides. However, her family, concerned about her growing obsession, decides to send her to Wallach IX to join the Sisterhood, hoping to temper her vengeful inclinations. Tula's Deadly Mission: Meanwhile, Tula (played by Emma Canning) takes a different path. Encouraged by Valya to escape their desolate home planet, Tula infiltrates House Atreides by seducing Orry Atreides (Milo Callaghan). Despite developing genuine feelings for him, Tula remains committed to her sister's quest for vengeance. During a sacred hunt, she cunningly poisons the Atreides family members, leading to their near-total annihilation. In a poignant moment, Tula spares a young Atreides boy, allowing the bloodline to persist. This act of both love and ruthlessness highlights the internal conflict between her personal emotions and familial loyalty. Formation of the Bene Gesserit: The episode also explores Valya's early experiences with the Sisterhood. Initially skeptical about taking the Sisterhood vow, Valya's determination and unique abilities, such as her early use of the Voice, capture the attention of Mother Superior Raquella. This sets the stage for Valya's eventual rise within the Bene Gesserit, intertwining her personal vendettas with the Sisterhood's broader ambitions. Overall, “Sisterhood Above All” provides a deeper understanding of the Harkonnen sisters' motivations and the lengths they are willing to go to achieve their goals, setting the foundation for the intricate power dynamics that define the series. Superman and Lois (The CW) Out of 5 Fuck You James Gunns (Series Finale) Darryl: 4.25/5 Brian: 4.99/5 Out of 10 Back From The Dead One Too Many Times (Season 4) Darryl: 9/10 Brian: 9.25/10 Out of 10 Clark Kent Nerd Dad FTWs (Series) Darryl: 9.85/10 Brian: 9.57/10 Summary The series finale of Superman & Lois, titled “It Went By So Fast,” delivers a poignant conclusion to the saga of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. After a climactic battle where Superman defeats Lex Luthor and Doomsday, the episode transitions into a heartfelt montage spanning over 32 years. This sequence showcases significant milestones: the marriage of John Henry Irons and Lana Lang, the growth of Jordan and Jonathan as they start families, and ultimately, the peaceful passing of Clark and Lois. In their final moments, Lois succumbs to a resurgence of cancer, followed by Clark, who, having become fully human in his old age, is deeply affected by her loss. The series concludes with their reunion in an afterlife, underscoring themes of enduring love and hope. A particularly notable scene involves a posthumous encounter between Clark and Lex Luthor. In this moment, Clark forgives a remorseful Lex, who is seen crying—a departure from typical portrayals of their relationship. This act of forgiveness highlights Superman's embodiment of hope and compassion, even towards his greatest adversary. The finale also features a subtle nod to the series Grimm, with David Giuntoli, the real-life husband of Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), making a cameo appearance. Overall, the episode provides a comprehensive and emotional closure to the series, emphasizing the importance of family, love, and forgiveness. Hey everyone, in this episode, I sit down with the amazing Bitsie Tulloch, known for her roles as Juliette Silverton in Grimm and Lois Lane in Superman & Lois. I was really excited to talk with Bitsie because I've only ever seen her at cons for short moments. It was great to talk to her about how she got into acting after going to Harvard(!) and the unexpected path that led her to iconic roles in Grimm and, of course, as Lois Lane. We also talk about how she balances family life with her daughter and husband, David Giuntoli while surviving Hollywood and staying out of the public eye, as well as our shared love of Portland. Stick around for the hindsight where I read your comments and emails to find out what word I can't spell for the life of me... Another great DC animated film has a great cast and you can here David Giuntoli, Kelly Hu, Mark Dacacos, and Michael Jai White,
David Giuntoli joins the show for the second time after his second animated film role as Batman/Bruce Wayne was recently released. Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham was released on Digital, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack and Blu-ray on March 28th, 2023. Giuntoli previously played Batman in the 2021 release Batman: Soul of the Dragon. Inspired by the comic book series by Mike Mignola, Richard Pace, and Troy Nixey, Batman: The Doom That Came To Gotham is a 1920s-based tale that finds explorer Bruce Wayne accidentally unleashing an ancient evil, expediting his return to Gotham City after a two-decade hiatus. The logic/science-driven Batman must battle Lovecraftian supernatural forces threatening the sheer existence of Gotham, along the way being aided and confronted by reimagined versions of his well-known allies and enemies, including Green Arrow, Ra's al Ghul, Mr. Freeze, Killer Croc, Two-Face, James Gordon, and Bruce's beloved wards. In this episode, Guintoli talks about getting the role to play Batman a second time, and the feedback he received after Soul of the Dragon was released. He talks about the mystical nature of this movie, and the ties to the work of H.P. Lovecraft. Follow David on social media @mistergiuntoli.

Blutbad, Gelumcaedus, Wettbewerbsgewinner, these are just some of the words that we make Zack try to pronounce on this episode of Baconsale. Luckily, we have our friend Jessica Terry joining us in the Baconcave to help us out. She's not an expert on German, but she is a big fan of Grimm, a supernatural police procedural that aired on NBC for six seasons. Jessica is going to explain why she feels Grimm is a TV show worth watching (and it's not just because David Giuntoli is dreamy…though that helps) as we do our best to understand this television series inspired by Grimms' Fairy Tales and explain it to you, the listener. Stan sits down with two of the stars of NBC’s six season smash hit GRIMM, David Giuntoli and Bitsie Tulloch, who married in 2017. Listen in as David and Bitsie discuss how they got into acting, faced challenges, received breaks and used their diligence and tenacity to carve out enormously successful careers both in front of and behind the camera. The couple also discuss their personal lives - meeting one another, dating and marrying - all while working together. Don’t miss this candid, insightful and inspirational episode! Produced by Keith Garabedian. Music composed by William Boreing. Special thanks to Kristyn Green.
From 2012: David Giuntoli isn’t a household name in every American household… so far. But the star of NBC’s fairytale-derived horror story, “Grimm,” is recognized in just enough A.C. Nielsen monitored homes to make his show this season’s quiet breakthrough. As a Portland, Oregon, detective named Nick Burkhardt, Giuntoli plays the latest in a long line of supernatural detectives policing the strange creatures in his town.
From 2012: I’m going to unabashedly flirt with one of the stars of The Artist myself for the next 10 minutes and apologize to my wife later. I’ll even mention that she has a new film, Caroline and Jackie, in which she shares billing with her “Grimm” co-star, David Giuntoli, and hope that’ll score me a point or two in conversation. (Hell, did I just say that out loud?)

GRIMM Episode 606 “Breakfast In Bed†Written by Kyle Mc Vey Directed by Julie Herlocker Do you feel like GRIMM is bringing their story to a close? How do you feel about more police cases being introduced? Personally, I have mixed feelings. I see the ground work being laid for a grand finale. And it looks like the very final episode will be to tie up lose ends. I guess my biggest question is how many lose ends will there be and will they be able to do that in one episode. For the second week in a row there's a surprise at the end of the episode. Maia was especially fond of the hungry, hungry hippo last week, but didn't get the joke in this one. Teresa knew what was up, though. She caught that the last name of the man at the end of the hall was Herring. And when he woged at the end, what was he... a red Herring. Yes, very clever GRIMM folks. These are the jokes. We're here till March 31, when the final episode airs.
GRIMM Episode 605 “The Seven Year Itch†Written by Jeff Miller Directed by Lee Rose [recap by Maia Ades] The Grimm count down continues. This is turning out to be a strong half season. It's an odd feeling knowing these are the last episodes of a show I've been following and writing about from the first episode to the last. It seems that, at least for now, the Wesen of the week is back. This week's monster was a cicada. Full disclosure: I'm not fond of cicadas. I don't mind them in the trees making their repetitive drone. But get one too close to me and I'm apt to behave more like a middle school girl rather than an experienced adult. I've been working on this phobia for years. I think I'm making progress. However, seeing a man size cicada did kinda creep me out. There were parts of this episode that were hard for me to watch. I won't lie. Did anyone else wonder if there is another version of this Wesen that emerges every seventeen years? Different kinds of cicadas have different lengths of time that they remain underground. There are over 190 varieties of cicadas just in North America. This episode also furthered our main characters' stories. It didn't give us many answers, but I think those will come.
GRIMM Episode 604 “El Cuegle†Written by Brenna Kouf Directed by Carlos Avila You know that comfy pair of jeans that is worn and comfortable? That's how I feel about this episode. It reminds me of former episodes. Not back to the time when Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) had more of his interesting characteristics. But far enough in the past that it feels familiar. Renard (Sasha Roiz) not only saw and talked to Meisner, he put his hand on him and it didn't go through. That made me start to wonder if Meisner was somehow there. I started trying to figure out if he could have survived and was sneaking in and out of Renard's home. However, it seems that Meisner is just a very powerful figment of Renard's imagination. GRIMM brought up an interesting moral dilemma. Unfortunately both the audience and our leads don't have enough information until the end of the episode.
GRIMM Episode 603 “Oh Captain My Captain†Written by Thomas Ian Griffith Directed by David Giuntoli The biggest news concerning this episode is that it marks Mr. David Giuntoli's directorial debut. If you didn't know that before viewing it, I doubt you'd have realized it. That is possibly the highest praise I could give him. Because it means that his episode stands up to all the other episodes. There wasn't anything that would make you realize or even suspect that it was his first time at the helm. Short version: Renard (Sasha Roiz) went from having everything he wanted at the end of last episode to an uneasy truce at the end of this one. That really sums it up.
GRIMM Episode 602: “Trust Me Knot†- Written by Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt, Directed by John Gray Both of the first two episodes were written by Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt. They are the creators of the show and when they step in to write an episode I always feel that signifies it's an important one. Since these are the final thirteen episodes I suppose that each of them carries more weight than some of the previous episodes. Knowing that the series will end and when has given this creative team an opportunity not all shows get. It's not uncommon for a series to simply not get picked up between seasons. Meaning that how ever the show ended the previous season becomes the show's finale. I think fans can be grateful that Grimm has the opportunity to wrap up their story in this last half a season. It's all most as if even the TV executives realized that a show with a five year run needed to be able to give the fans a satisfactory wrap up.
It's true, GRIMM is finally back. I hope it's worth the wait for all of us. Grimm got renewed for 13 episodes and that will be the end of the line for the show. I suppose because it's only a half season they started the season in January instead of the show's customary October start. I've spent so much time following this show I'm really hoping for a great end to the story. As GRIMM always does, the season started right where it left off last spring. This episode was all about getting people from one place to another. It was rather like a human nut shell game. You've seen the game, a small object often a little ball is under one of three nut shells, someone with slick moves and fast hands tries to hide which nut shell holds the little object. In this game it's a matter of hiding dead bodies, hiding Nick (David Giuntoli) and everyone else on his side pretending not to hide him under a nut shell. There's no point in starting new storylines that they won't have time to tell. At this point everything that comes up needs to be important to bringing this story to a close. Or, that's my hope. It drove me nuts that many story ideas were started and never completed. I mean, sure life is like that, but this is TV not real life.
