The NDIS fund the vehicle modification, but they won't help the families with the vehicle costs which often means that the client that needs a vehicle modification to suit their needs does not get one. Only well-off people get the transport they need. The government can't do everything so Peter and his team are trying to find other ways to fund these vehicles.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week my guest is Jun Lim, Creative Director and Founder of South Korean fragrance brand BORN TO STAND OUT. I met Jun a couple of months ago at Jovoy in London. He was introducing the brand to some of the UK media and I was struck by his singular vision and his mission to do things differently. It's fair to say that South Korea is well known for skincare, but less so for niche fragrance brands. In just over 2 years BORN TO STAND OUT has made real waves, both in Jun's home market and around the world. There are over 20 fragrances in the range, all in a bold (of course!) red and white bottle. There is an emphasis on gourmand notes, musks and ‘pleasures of the flesh'. Popular perfumes include Dirty Rice, Drunk Saffron, Fig Porn and Filthy Musk. See what I mean? This is not your typical brand, both in terms of the names, the aesthetic and the juice inside. Jun has created BORN TO STAND OUT in his own vision. The products are inspired by HIS dreams, memories and experiences. It was a real honour to spend time with him and fascinating to get a different perspective away from the prevailing (and my own!) Euro-centric views. Some of the products Jun mentioned were:Vaselinehttps://www.boots.com/vaseline-original-petrolium-jelly-50ml-10226343Baby S.O.S Cremehttps://www.ohfeliz.co.uk/penaten-baby/little-helpers-sos-cream-with-dexpanthenolAlpecin Shampoohttps://www.boots.com/alpecin-caffeine-shampoo-250ml-10081360BORN TO STAND OUT FragrancesYou can find Born To Stand Out on the web at:https://borntostandout.com/BTSO on Instagram at:https://www.instagram.com/borntostandout.official/- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -You can ‘tip' me via the link below. Our committee of contributors included prominent self-advocates, such as Temple Grandin and Stephen Shore, different family members, like parents and siblings, and a wide range of professionals, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and transition specialists.  Our purpose with Responsive Skills Training, or RST for short, is to give entry-level service providers a more well-rounded understanding of autism by hearing directly from those with lived experiences.  In today's conversation, we discuss:  Why we decided to create RST The needs of the international community The importance of listening to autistic voices Reforming Applied Behavior Analysis to include neurodiversity-affirming practices The process of co-creating RST with a committee of contributors  After the conversation with Molly and Ann, you'll also hear testimonies from several RST contributors about why they decided to join this project. These were recorded in the field during our last SkillCorps volunteer trip to Kenya in March.  Featured RST contributors: Andrew Bennett, Autistic Self-Advocate, BCaBA (US) Mafer Chang, Director/Founder of Centro Enigma (Ecuador) Alexis Sevieri, Sibling Advocate, RBT (US) Laura Leonard, BCBA (US) Sangeeta Jain, Vice Principal of SOREM (India) To learn more about the Global Autism Project's Responsive Skills Training, please visit globalautismproject.org/rst.  ----more---- Related episodes: 109. At the highest levels of achievement, the payoffs of all your talent and hard work can be incredible. The dangers of the uncompromising drive for perfection, however, can be full of danger and pitfalls.  Our guest today on Piece of the Pai is Julian Reeve, the former musical director of the red-hot Broadway musical Hamilton, is also the founder of Perfect Equilibrium, a coaching and methodology service that works with high-achieving creatives and entrepreneurs.  After conducting a performance of Hamilton in San Francisco one evening, Julian fell victim to a heart attack. After recovering, it was clear to Julian that this incident was a direct result of his unrelenting pursuit of not only excellence, but also his perfectionism. Fortunately for Julian (and for us), the heart attack helped Julian realign his priorities and his definition of success. Julian joins host Nesha Pai for a discussion about the danger of burnout, particularly for high achieving people. Julian describes the events leading up to his heart attack, and how he's been able to replace his need for achievement with a desire for equilibrium.

Stephen joins us from his home in the Los Angeles area. Stephen is the founder of The Identity Development Institute and an acclaimed Hollywood Director, and a published poet. He is a father of 3 children, two of whom are Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, who are artists in their own right. He grew up with parents (and grandparents) who suffered trauma and addiction. His father, as a young American soldier during World War II, lived the reality of opening and freeing concentration camps in Germany. He also grew up in a Christian cult-like community in Pennsylvania and when he reached college age he saw doors and pathways open ahead of him that he otherwise wouldn't have seen. And one of those paths was film directing. And he never looked back. Kind of. He also went back to school to do a Masters in Therapy. And boy do we discuss some themes that are important to Stephen. We talk about being “sane” in an insane world, the “engine in me”, lack of connection, the love of art, the curiosity in death – and being drawn to skid row. “Art is there to comfort the disturbed and to disturb the comfort”. Reimagining Climate Action and Achieving the SDGs: Our Individual and Collective Work   Side Event to UNGA 77 and Climate Week Panel and Reception Hosted by Church World Service (CWS) Monday, 19 September 2022 4 - 7 PM EDT Location: Church Center of the UN New York, NY   About   For fourteen years, Climate Week has “brought together the most influential leaders in climate action from business, government, and the climate community” at the same time as the UN General Assembly High-level meetings. Climate Week aims to increase ambition and accelerate action for urgent climate action, and the timing is more critical during UNGA this year as the world experiences more frequent and severe climate shocks affecting all people, but most disproportionately for the most vulnerable (eg. food insecure, impoverished, indigenous persons, women, smallholder farmers). Climate change is also promulgating unrest and forced displacement; there are more displaced persons around the world now than ever before in recorded human history.    Most people in low and middle income countries are people of faith, and the role of places and leaders of worship, communities and individual action will only continue to be critical to achieve the SDGs. As a faith-based civil society organization in consultative status with the UN, CWS is uniquely positioned to engage with delegates and high-level attendees of UNGA regarding critical matters around the world's progress - or lack thereof - toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.   This side event served as a follow-up to CWS' side event during the 2022 High Level Political Forum entitled Reimagining Our World and Future Together: an integral approach towards sustainable development. In a panel discussion between the Netherlands, UNDP, Seattle University, MPOWERD and CWS, speakers addressed systemic gaps and the value of improving social safety nets and partnerships (SDG 17) to ensure resilience - especially among the most vulnerable - and the achievement of the SDGs. Speakers were asked to consider the role of “Inner Development Goals” (IDGs), or the capabilities, qualities and skills within each person.    The event featured a panel discussion and interactive dialogue with the audience. We would like to thank the audience for their participation and apologize that this summary podcast doesn't do total justice to the richness of the conversations that took place during the session.   Panelists (Moderator) Maurice A. Bloem, Chief Sustainability and Impact Officer, CWS Andrew Fuys, Senior Technical Advisor, Climate and Migration, CWS  Mary Kate Costello, Director of International Policy and Relations, CWS Sydney Upchurch, Founder, Fleet  Pooja Tilvawala, Director & Founder, Youth Climate Collaborative Dr. John Coonrod, EVP, The Hunger Project
