Content: How and What?• How is Habakkuk organized? • Prologue: The Oracle that Habakkuk the Prophet Received (1:1) • Question #1: Why is God silent and justice perverted (1:2-4)? • Answer #1: The Lord will use the Babylonians to judge Israel (1:5-11). • Question #2: Since the Lord is just, how can He use a wicked nation (1:12-2:1)? • Answer #2: The righteous must live by faith (2:2-20). • Concluding Psalm of Praise: Trust the Lord and rejoice in Him while we wait (3:16-19).• What is the message of Habakkuk? Conviction: So What?• Where does this fit? - Habakkuk is an honest presentation of a faithful servant of God trying to make sense of the world around him. - Habakkuk demonstrates that honest questions are fine as long as we are willing to hear God's answer and eventually praise Him.• What should we believe? - God can handle our questions. Ask them. - We often struggle to understand God's work in the world around us. - God's answer are always best but not always pleasant.• How should we behave? - The righteous shall live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4 cf. Rom. 1:17; Gal. 3:11). - Ultimately, trusting in God to control everything is the only way to live.Next Steps • Be honest with God about your struggle to understand Him and His ways.• Perhaps even take a risk to be honest in community as well.• Ultimately, trust God and recognize we must “live by faith”.This Week's Growth GuideGod's Word is both central and critical to your spiritual growth. Home Church Questions • Read Habakkuk 1:1-3:19 (Again. Yes, the whole book).• What about the message captured your attention?• Read 2 Kings 23:31-24:5. What was the religious and political situation that prompted Habakkuk's oracle? How does this relate to the world we are living in currently? • Habakkuk's perplexed questions of “How long…” and “Why…” (1:2-3,7) reflected a wavering faith in the face of evil. What are some signs that may appear in one's life that would suggest that their faith is wavering?• When in your life have had that same feeling of bewilderment about God's seeming slowness to act when you were (or are) pressed with difficult or evil circumstances?• God provides His answer to His seeming slowness to act in 2:3, “wait for it.” How is waiting the ultimate test of faith? Why is it so hard to do? • Habakkuk is weighed heavily with the idea that God would use evil forces against his people to who are less evil (1:13). What is God's purpose in doing so, to punish or alternatively to prompt correction? In what ways might God do this in today's world? • Habakkuk's resolve in the face of his “How…” and “Why…” questions is recorded in 3:17-19. How would you rewrite these verses in the context of today's world?• How does this response reflect the LORD's description of the righteous as one who lives by his faith (2:4)? • Pause and have someone pray for your group and our church that we can be a people with this kind of faith. “One of the best things about country music was that it was adult music,” Erin Enderlin says. “It was real music that dealt with hard issues in life so that people going through those things don't feel so alone.” The observation is signature Enderlin: She has a way of turning a song or even just a thought into an outstretched hand to the lonely or ashamed. While she first turned heads as a godsend to those aching for an artist with some golden-era country backbone, she has since emerged as a literary songwriter and superb vocal stylist with a knack for sharply drawn––and often sad––characters. Backsliders, avengers, lovers, and victims––they're all in her acclaimed albums, such as 2019's Faulkner County and 2017's Whiskeytown Crier. Enderlin remains a go-to writer for stars and legends as well. Her catalog includes Alan Jackson's “Monday Morning Church,” Lee Ann Womack's “Last Call,” Luke Bryan's “You Don't Know Jack,” and a host of other songs for Randy Travis, Joey+Rory, Reba, Terri Clark, Whisperin' Bill Anderson, and more.

She was taken in a 17 minute window, leaving her smoldering cigarette and warm coffee on the counter. Her body was found the next day. A maroon pickup truck with a white camper shell was seen in the area on the night she was abducted. There was a very good suspect in the case who was found to have a drawer of trophies hidden in his home – none of which were connected to Pam. Her case remained unsolved for decades until forensic genealogy pointed to her killer. And, this case has a possible connection to another, very famous Arkansas case – the disappearance of Morgan Nick. Faulkner County native Red Hall was a serial killer who confessed to murdering at least twenty-four people. Most of his victims were motorists who picked him up as he hitchhiked around the United States. In the closing months of World War II, he beat his wife to death and went on a killing spree across the state. His signature smile lured his victims to their doom, and even after his capture, he maintained a friendly manner, being described by one lawman as "a pleasant conversationalist." Even the River Runs Out of This Town". Escuchar audio

What issues in your life rise to the level of “What is God’s will?” • How helpful was last week’s message that set forth the clear passages that describe God’s will? What was helpful about that? • Explore the illustration of marriage as a parallel to finding God’s will. Where does the illustration work? Where does it fall apart? • If someone read Jen Wilkin’s handout, have them share what they took away from it. • How have you tried to determine God’s will for you? • What are some areas where you are trying to determine God’s will? Returning the week of January 12th with 27 small groups, containing over 350 people, Home Church has a place for YOU! Home Church is all about Serving Together. Our Home Church Ministry values deep relationships as well as spiritual growth and here at Fellowship we believe that one of the best ways to foster this is through serving together. As people are serving together and building a common passion for others two things take place: those serving grow closer as they are on mission with one another, and our local community is impacted for the sake of the gospel. Our Home Churches serve our own body through many avenues and volunteer with our local ministry partners in various ways throughout the year. Serving is a key piece as we build community in the body of Christ. Fellowship’s desire is that everyone who calls Fellowship home connect relationally in a Home Church. Episode 110: Ideal Man, the fourth full-length album from Nashville songwriter Andrew Combs has been praised by major outlets including Rolling Stone Country. Is it a country album? Is Combs a country artist? Well he undoubtedly was when his first records emerged. His debut album Worried Man had steel guitar and a snapping rhythm section and songs that got right to the point about loss and love. With 2017's Canyons of My MInd, a swooning lush atmosphere wafts in, and Combs voice - always full of emotion and carefully wrought - stepped up a few levels. It's one of the more seductive and involving male voices in Americana, in the same zone as John Paul White and Combs friend Dylan LeBlanc. It marked real growth and refinement, and Ideal Man does too. Also in the hour, Music Row songwriting success Erin Enderlin leans harder than ever into her artist career with the moving and deeply country Faulkner County.

Faulkner County, Arkansas, has a whole lotta shakin' going on these days. Some of it is from the cash infusion brought on by the gold-rush like influx of natural gas fracking in the community, with over 3,000 new wells drilled in the area since the mid 2000s. But even more is due a mysterious wave of thousands of small earthquakes that have rattled the towns of Guy and Greenbrier since September, 2010. Long Haul went down to Arkansas to check in with residents about what's going on – literally – under their feet. And we then shared the tape we collected with musician Bonnie "Prince" Billy, also known as musician Will Oldham, who wrote an original song to contribute to the narrative. (Produced in 2011; this description from the original broadcast.)
