I'm your host, Kristen Olson, and today we have an inspiring episode lined up. We're diving deep into the Do More Charity Challenge 2024, a CrossFit-based competition bringing communities together to support various worthy causes. Joining us are two remarkable guests: Katie Robino from the Third Way Center, a nonprofit dedicated to helping youth, and Angie Smith from Community Banks of Colorado (NBH), a key player in the event since its inception. We'll explore the significance of self-care, the rejuvenating power of nature, and how communal events like this foster a supportive network. We'll also touch on the incredible impact of live music, the inclusive nature of the competition, and the substantial financial benefits for the charities involved. Plus, stay tuned for exciting details about the event's growth, our wonderful sponsors, and how you can get involved! Let's get started! DO MORE CHARITY CHALLENGE: REGISTER TODAY! https://www.domorecharitychallenge.com/ WHAT IF there was an event where athletes of ALL AGES and SKILL LEVELS came together to compete for the GREATER GOOD? WHAT IF we challenged ourselves to lift even more reps, do more squats, and touch more lives than the years before? We IMAGINED that we could and WE DID. Since 2015 the Do More Charity Challenge has raised over $1.7 MILLION for charities across the nation. So, let's join forces and make this year's Do More Charity Challenge and even MORE POWERFUL event that will make a lasting and meaningful difference for our COMMUNITY. Community Banks of Colorado is a division of NBH Bank, which is a subsidiary of National Bank Holdings Corporation (NYSE: NBHC) and operates a network of banking centers throughout Utah, Idaho, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and Wyoming. @cobnks https://www.cobnks.com/ Katy Rubin: Bio: I have worked in the nonprofit world for four years now. I joined Third Way Center a year and a half ago and in the short time I have been here, it has been incredible to see the impact this organization has on our residents. One of my passions is helping others and I am fortunate enough to work for an agency that does just that. In my spare time, I enjoy making new connections, taking my family on adventures in Colorado and out of state, and being outside as much as possible! https://thirdwaycenter.org/ @thirdwaycenter Angie Smith: Angie Smith has been with NBH Bank for almost 13 years in the Risk Management Division and has competed in the Do More Charity CrossFit Challenge every year since its inception 9 years ago. It has been a privilege to combine two important elements, philanthropy and competitive sport. She continues to compete on behalf of the Third Way Center, where she has also volunteered. She is excited to earn as much money as possible for this deserving charity. @Als.ntg_2000 Connect with T&T: IG: @TurmericTequila Facebook: @TurmericAndTequila Website: www.TurmericAndTequila.com Host: Kristen Olson IG: @Madonnashero Tik Tok: @Madonnashero Website: www.KOAlliance.com WATCH HERE MORE LIKE THIS: https://youtu.be/ZCFQSpFoAgI?si=Erg8_2eH8uyEgYZF https://youtu.be/piCU9JboWuY?si=qLdhFKCGdBzuAeuI https://youtu.be/9Vs2JDzJJXk?si=dpjV31GDqTroUKWH

This podcast features millions of dollars of Stakes races Friday and Saturday at Mohawk. We find out from trainer Phil Serpe why Queen's Plate Champion Safe Conduct won't run in the Prince of Wales. There's a great conversation with jockey Isabelle Wenc. She's beaten the odds just to be a professional rider and most of her winners beat the odds as well. Her agent Alan Raymond tells us about her ‘impeccable' work out routines. Garnet Barnsdale was at Clinton Raceway on Sunday. He saw Trevor Henry win the Drivers' Charity Challenge and he also saw driver Natasha Day make history. Ever hear of a jockey getting punished for not using his whip enough? It happened in Singapore. And at The Meadowlands Friday night, Super Heroes and Villains battled for supremacy.

We loved him on the gridiron, and we loved him off the field too. Greg Olsen not only excelled as a tight end for the Carolina Panthers -- with 3, 1000-yard seasons in a row, and more than 8,600 yards for a career (WOW) -- but as a community philanthropist, which led to being a 2-time finalist for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award from the NFL. He even took first place in the Charity Challenge for most votes on social media one of those years. Olsen’s HEARTest Yard foundation helps families of children with heart defects get the nursing care they need. This year, the nonprofit donated $2.5 million dollars to create the HEARTest Yard Pediatric Cardiac Care Clinic at Levine Children’s Hospital. We are honored to have Greg Olsen here with us on the BrandBuilders Podcast today.

Donate in the SEGEPADFO charity challenge: https://www.thegermanyexperience.de/charity2020/I'm going head-to-head with Nicole to see who can raise the most money for Über den Tellerrand - specifically, to help them raise money for a portable kitchen that will enable them to expand and improve their events. And their events are aimed at promoting diversity and acceptance in Germany by bringing together migrants and Germans. More information at the link above. Right now, The Germany Experience is in the lead - but there's still time (until the 24th December) for you to donate! Don't let Nicole win! In this short episode, I also explain why Nicole is low-key nefarious...Listen to Nicole's updates on The Expat Cast.

Visit the official SEGEPADFO page for more information! As we did last year, Nicole of The Expat Cast (my sworn rival) and I will be facing off to see who can raise the most money for charity this Advent. SEGEPADFO stands for "Second Ever Germany Expat Podcasters Advent Donations Face Off".This year, the charity we’ve chosen to support is Über den Tellerrand. Their aim: create opportunities for people of different cultures to meet and get to know each other, based on shared interests. Their diverse activities, mentoring programs, cookbooks and cooking courses now bring people together in over 35 cities across Germany and around the world. For more information, visit their website (in English). While they operate all over Germany, we’ve decided to support a specific project at the Freiburg branch (local to The Expat Cast): raising money to create a portable kitchen that would enable them to expand and improve their events. To find out how to donate, go to the official SEGEPADFO pageThe loser will have to face consequences. But what consequences? We'd love your ideas - what will the losing podcast have to do? Let us know!

Emma also trekked the tallest freestanding mountain, 5895m, in Tanzania in 2011 while raising funds for a charity. The two women however have very different feelings about doing it ever again! Hear as they banter and share their unique experiences - both memorable and somewhat life-changing. Danielle shares her passion for raising awareness and funds for great causes such as Rafiki Mwema, an amazing Australian based organisation who support children who've experienced extreme trauma through two homes in Kenya. Nicole from The Expat Cast and I went head-to-head in December 2019 to see who could raise the most donations for our chosen charities. Together we raised 350 euros...140 euros went to Nicole's charity of choice, Women's Worth Inc., while 210 euros went to my chosen charity, Lebenshilfe in Bad Windsheim. I'll let you do the math (*cough* I won!) :)Thanks to everyone who donated, and thanks to Nicole for being such a great sport. Let's do it again in December 2020!
