20241027 6PM CD 5 Qualities in Kingdom Relationships w QandR Background to the Thessalonian Church is from Acts 17. In a setting of persecution during the beginning of the Thessalonian church, Paul flees to Athens but wants to go back and spend more time with the new converts. He sends Timothy who brings news, and Paul writes to the Thessalonian Church. From his letter, we can learn 5 qualities in Kingdom relationships for us to seek. Don't settle for superficial. Be invested in each other. Don't settle for “sarcastic”. Let's be sincere. Don't settle for self-centred. Let's make it about “them”. Don't settle for “spiritual stuntedness”. Let's encourage growth! Don't settle for “short-term”. Let's push people to persevere .. for the long term. To the end. There is a cost: It leaves Paul “vulnerable”. He is opening up his heart. He is in the relationship for them (not for him). Remember: Kingdom relationships start with relationships with the King! Jesus. Speaker: Chris Donald.

How can you tell if you possess the qualities of executive presence? If you have ever felt like your ideas aren't being taken seriously or that you aren't being heard when you speak up in meetings, you might be lacking executive presence. Executive presence is all about having influence — it's that something special about you that tells people that you're in charge. It's often hard to define and even harder to develop as a result. Our clients have often heard that they need to develop executive presence, but their manager can't describe it, and they don't know what they would be doing differently if they had it.At SisterSmart, we use an approach from Bates Communications. Their model is backed by research from over 20 years of experience of coaching the world's top executives on executive presence. They use 15 facets to describe executive presence, and we've broken down these 15 facets into five qualities that we coach our clients on, which is what Jill and Sarah are sharing in this episode.00:17 — What is executive presence? 01:38 — 5 qualities of executive presence13:35 — 3 shifts you can make with your executive presence this week—Fall is a great time to start a leadership program. Welcome to Episode 139 of the Being Human Podcast: Same But Different: Distinctions Between the Brains of Men & Women (A Relationship Series, Part Two) Next up in our Relationship Series: A look at the brain differences between men and women! In this episode, Dr. Greg breaks open how growing in knowledge of the way God designed our bodies and brains - and especially the differences in each between the sexes - can help to enhance communication, deepen love, and strengthen relationships. Highlights from the episode: Men and women have small differences in their brains, but the impact of these differences are significant; The radically different ways that men and women think, and how each sex isn't privy to the way the other works; How brain imaging allows a glimpse into the way the brains of the opposite sex work; The tendency of men to think spatially and have brains focused on problem solving, while women tend towards connection and attunement to the other in relationships; The difference in how men and women both experience anxiety and attempt to decrease their anxiety; How recognition of the skills and gifts of the opposite sex can enhance teamwork and communication in relationship; The way a husband can “fix” the emotional distress of his wife. Greg Miller: Five Qualities of Great Product Owners Read the full Show Notes and search through the world's largest audio library on Scrum directly on the Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast website: http://bit.ly/SMTP_ShowNotes. The Great Product Owner: Five Qualities of Great Product Owners In this segment, Greg highlights a specific example of a remarkable Product Owner who would physically visit the team's building two days a week and sit closely with them, establishing accessibility and close collaboration. What made her stand out was her deep knowledge of the product, as she had been a previous customer and actively used the product being developed. Furthermore, the great product owner was unafraid to provide valuable insights and articulate why users needed certain features, even if they hadn't explicitly requested them. She actively participated in every sprint review, where the team would allow her to test the product live and provide immediate feedback. Greg recalls this Product Owner as an integral part of the team, both professionally and personally, emphasizing her pleasant demeanor and strong team integration. Overall, this segment showcases the qualities of a great product owner: accessibility, deep product knowledge, proactive involvement in sprint reviews, and a strong sense of collaboration and team integration. Such attributes contribute to effective communication, understanding user needs, and ultimately delivering a successful product. The Bad Product Owner: Building Bridges with Product Owners, to Help Scrum Teams, and PO's Succeed In this segment, Greg highlights an example of a Product Owner anti-pattern, where a project manager with limited training and a negative attitude was assigned as the Product Owner for the Scrum team. This led to issues such as micromanagement and team dissatisfaction. Greg emphasizes the importance of building a personal relationship with the product owner and understanding their underlying fears and motivations. He also recommends the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie as a resource for effective communication and relationship-building. This episode sheds light on the challenges of product ownership and provides valuable tips for fostering a positive and collaborative environment. Recently, as a Nation we lost the lives of 13 honorable and noble United States Marines. People who took an oath to this Country to defend and protect the Constitution, and the people of America. United States Marines that were not even given the honor of having their names read into record in the United States House of Representatives. United States Marines, who were willing to give all—and did. Their commanding officers and those that love this Nation, will forever remember them as GOOD SOLDIERS. I am reminded of those in the Christ's Army who have died on the battlefields of faith and of the legacy they left behind. I am referring to people like those mentioned in Hebrews 11. Great men and women of God who were good soldiers of the cross and who died on the battlefield to preserve our precious faith. As we think of these people who have sacrificed so much for us, I want to remind you of a very awesome truth. One day, our lives will all be over! One day every person in this room will be just a memory to those living on this planet. When it comes time for you to leave this world, what kind of legacy will you leave behind? When people remember the kind of person you were, will they remember you as a soldier of the cross? The time to think about these things is now. After you are gone, it will be forever too late! As Paul neared the end of his life, he languished in a Roman prison. But, from that cell, the great Apostle took steps to ensure that he would be remembered as a good solider of the cross. He took the time to write to young Timothy and give him the secret for becoming a good soldier. It is that thought that I would like to consider this morning as we think together about the Five Qualities Of A Good Soldier.

Five Qualities Necessary for Recession Survival and Growth During this day and age of uncertainty I am constantly being asked to boil success down to a handful of qualities. Everybody wants the five “secrets” to success. While I am hard pressed to limit the qualities of successful entrepreneurs, business leaders and professionals to just five things, I can give you five qualities that are common among all successful people.Incidentally, these five qualities were not developed by me. They were developed by a researcher named Napoleon Hill as a result of a 20-year study he conducted on successful business leaders. Hill developed 16 laws of success as a result of this study. All of Hill's laws can be applied to professionals but there are five in particular that separate the winning professionals from the others. Here are the five qualities from Napoleon Hill's work that I believe to be most responsible for success:Quality 1: Successful Business Leaders have a Burning Desire to Serve Their Clients: This means you must really want to make a difference for your clients and you believe in your ability to do so. That passion and desire is easily spotted in successful people. It is a quality that attracts others – clients and referring attorneys – to you like a magnet. It can be difficult to stay motivated under the current conditions. If you watch the news, it can flat out depress you. So, stop watching the news. Keep focusing on the value you provide and why it is important to your best clients. What is your value? How does it make a difference for your clients? Is that value still the same? What additional value can you provide?Be loud and proud about that! Quality 2: Successful Business Leaders Make Use of Specialized Knowledge:You have specialized knowledge of your product or service. But people who grow during a recession also have the specialized knowledge of how to communicate their value, how to build and how to run a business. They have specialized knowledge on building systems that set their business up for success. They have specialized knowledge in business strategy and they know how to deploy their resources toward an area of need in the market. Specialized knowledge goes well beyond the day-to-day aspects of selling. It extends to the knowledge necessary to deepen relationships over days, weeks, months and years. This is the perfect time to acquire additional specialized knowledge. You don't have a commute right now. You don't have the common office disruptions. Use this time to acquire additional specialized knowledge. Quality 3: Successful Entrepreneurs and Professionals are Decisive:This is a quality that stands out in a business leader. They assimilate information and then they make a decision. You have to make correct decisions and you have to do it in a way that projects confidence in yourself and in the people around you.Let's face it; if you have the will, you can recover from almost any mistake you make in life. However, you may never be able to recapture an opportunity that presents itself if you don't make a decision. Great opportunities – golden opportunities – only come along so often – and you need to be decisive to take advantage of them. Napoleon Hill found that decisiveness was a key quality in successful people, and I agree whole heartedly.Decide right now to invest in your future. Decide to invest in your growth. Make the decision to be aggressive in your acquisition of new business even though others around you are negative. Quality 4: Successful Business Leaders and Professionals Set Goals:Successful people are goal oriented. This means they have actually taken the time to think about where they want to be in five years, ten years and twenty years. This may seem too long term given the circumstances. If you want to achieve significant success you need to first define what success is. That means setting goals. Here is an exercise you can do to help you get trough the current situation and associated recession: Pick out five things you would like to accomplish between now and the end of the year.Write these five things down on a sheet of paper.Fold the paper up and put it in your pocket.Review this sheet of paper every time you eat a meal. You will be amazed at the results. When you write your goals down your subconscious mind automatically goes to work to try to help you achieve them. You will find yourself drawn to activities that will bring you closer to your goals.Once you become comfortable with this process, conduct a similar exercise, setting goals for the next five years. Even under difficult conditions, you brain will adjust, and you will act to make those goals happen. Don't trust me. See for yourself. Do it now. Quality 5: Successful Entrepreneurs and Professionals Tap into the Collective Intelligence of OthersThis is critically important. You need to have a group of people you can trust to give you honest feedback on your ideas and performance. You must have a group of like-minded people who know and understand what you are going through and can help you achieve your goals. This last one really resonates with me because when I started my own business, I was a one-person operation. After having worked my entire career in big firms, I suddenly found myself without a sounding board for ideas. This lead to a stifling of my creativity. As my business has grown, I have actively sought out successful people to bounce my ideas off of. This process has been phenomenally value in many ways. Everyone needs a handful of people in whom he can confide. When a business leader comes to me and says he needs help with sales I review these five characteristics with him. Almost always, I find he has not developed any of these qualities in himself. That's when I ask him a critical question:“Are you willing to adopt these five qualities and use them in your business?”You see, part of Napoleon Hill's study revealed that successful people are not born with these qualities. They developed them over time. Success is a learned behavior. And now I have an opportunity for you.You can join me as part of my Inner Circle. This is a group of business leaders and professionals that meets three times each week to exchange ideas, pass referrals and provide support for each other. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I provide some business growth information – to help you meet your goals for growth and then we have a discussion where you can tap into the power of the guidance and support of other members of my inner circle. His message is one that highlights what truly matters in life. In this Friday khutba, Shaykh Faraz Rabbani reminds us of the nature of this life and the nature of the hereafter through verses 14-17 of Sura al-Imran: زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ الشَّهَوَاتِ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ وَالْبَنِينَ وَالْقَنَاطِيرِ الْمُقَنطَرَةِ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَالْخَيْلِ الْمُسَوَّمَةِ وَالْأَنْعَامِ وَالْحَرْثِ ۗ ذَٰلِكَ مَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۖ وَاللَّـهُ عِندَهُ حُسْنُ الْمَآبِ ﴿١٤﴾ قُلْ أَؤُنَبِّئُكُم بِخَيْرٍ مِّن ذَٰلِكُمْ ۚ لِلَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا وَأَزْوَاجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ وَرِضْوَانٌ مِّنَ اللَّـهِ ۗ وَاللَّـهُ بَصِيرٌ بِالْعِبَادِ ﴿١٥﴾الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ ﴿١٦﴾ الصَّابِرِينَ وَالصَّادِقِينَ وَالْقَانِتِينَ وَالْمُنفِقِينَ وَالْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِالْأَسْحَارِ(١٧ The enjoyment of ˹worldly˺ desires—women, children, treasures of gold and silver, fine horses, cattle, and fertile land—has been made appealing to people. It is not based in the metaphysical world, but has its feet planted firmly on this planet. It is easy to understand and practical. I use the Buddha’s early teachings as the foundation for the podcast, and explain them in a way that is relevant to your life today. The Podcast is aimed at people who cannot read, who are visually impaired or English is not their first language.
