Want to break through procrastination and enhance your productivity? Here are five methods I've used regularly to get in the zone and let ideas start flowing. 1. Make Micro-commitments - Momentum generates motivation. 2. Walk Before Working - Walking has been shown to enhance creativity. Since momentum generates motivation, the physical movement gets you into a state of action. 3. Become Inspired - Reading can spur your mind with fresh ideas when you ask, "How would I put that into my own words? 4. Work Through Fears and Uncertainty - Fears and uncertainty are many times at the root of procrastination. There can be fear of failure, fear of wasting time, uncertainty about what you're wanting to accomplish leading to indecision, and more. 5. Use Accountability - Add accountability by telling people when your project will be complete and offer them something if it isn't done. I used to offer friends $20 if I didn't get a done by a particular date. Which of these will you begin to implement now? Looking for a coach that can help you succeed and hold you accountable? Do you have your eye on medal-worthy success? Do you want to live life at the next level? Here are 5 qualities Olympic athletes look for in a great coach. If you are looking for your own breakthrough, keep these in mind as you seek your own coach and support system. 1) GOAL-ORIENTATED A coach knows short-term goals are just as important as long-term ones 2) MOTIVATION When you feel giving up, your coach is there to instill confidence and pick you back up. 3) HONEST The tough conversations are often the ones that lead to the most change. 4) COMMUNICATION A coach can’t do their job properly if you aren’t able to communicate with them. Having a coach who asks questions, gives feedback and checks in on your progress is critical to your success. 5) PREPARATION If you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail. Does your organization have shared core values? No, not the stated values that may be written on a website, posted on walls, and recited to new hires. Well, maybe those, but only if the stated principles truly permeate the organization’s identity, define culture, shape leaders’ decisions, and guide day-to-day behavior for every organization member. Shared core values have long-lasting effects on the way people do work. Stated values, however, are often overlooked. Shared core values are a powerful asset. They have a positive impact on people’s attitudes and behaviors. Organizations may be your workplace or your family the little league or your golf buddies. THe fact is each of us needs to have a set of core value and a tribe that best reflects those values in order for us to behave in a way that allows us to succeed.
Being the message. 3 simple words that require a great deal of awareness and responsibility. There is a fallacy behind the idea that we can dictate to the next generation without actually showing by example, because while words may spark thoughts that can then lead to action as human beings we don't just learn with our ears. We learn by watching, and through the vibrational frequencies transmuted through feelings. So what does all of this mean? The most effective method of teachings is carried out in our daily actions. As Michael Jackson state we must start with the man or woman in the mirror. Our guest host Author, speaker, and certified counselor Jami Kirkbride is excited to share with us all how this idea manifests in her life daily. Today we're interviewing Mike Watson, Founder of Heart-centric Leadership, about what else - heart-centric leadership! What is heart-centric leadership? Here's what Mike has to say about it: "There is a leadership and engagement crisis in organizations that I believe (and I am doing research on for my doctorate) is associated with a lack of willingness by leaders to embrace spiritual intelligence, along with IQ and emotional intelligence. This crisis extends beyond the organization and into our home lives wherein we are all leaders of our own lives, and is evident with the number of people that say they don't know what their purpose in life is, and how to find it. When we listen to our heart, and let it inform our mind prior to decision-making then we are also allowing space for spiritual intelligence to guide us on our own purposeful journey." Mike spent 15 years in organizational leadership, where his insights and foundation were shaped for Heart-centric Leadership www.mikewatson.today. He has done multiple keynotes and workshops for Universities and organizations. He's also appeared on HuffPost Live 3x as guest panelist to discuss leadership and social activism, and has been the beloved Emcee for TEDx Charlotte. He is currently completing his doctorate in organizational leadership, with a dissertation on Spiritual Intelligence in Leadership, with an online course series launching this summer. He will be hiking Mount Kilimanjaro in July to raise awareness and money for the prevention of foot-born diseases, and to honor the work of Samaritan's Feet 15 year anniversary. Join us as we pick the genius brain and warm heart of Mr. Mike Watson.
About 20 years ago, Steve Goldstein coined the term “Playing Not To Lose” to help his employees and clients understand that it’s important to always strive for a new level of success -- not just to do the bare minimum needed to stay afloat. In today’s episode of Driving Change, Steve explains how Playing Not To Lose applies to businesses today, and why winning leaders motivate and empower their employees to share a similar mindset.
Everyone has goals, but some people seem to be more successful than others in achieving them. That’s because people who accomplish goals at a higher rate are those who have developed a personal action plan. Whether it's sending out an email newsletter, putting together a presentation, or working on a special request for a client, many of us have to complete simple projects as part of our day-to-day responsibilities. These small- to medium-sized projects may, at first glance, not seem to need much thought. But, occasionally, we can overlook a key step or "to do" item that can derail all our efforts. Action Plans are useful because they give you a framework for thinking about how you'll complete a project efficiently. They help you finish activities in a sensible order, and they help you ensure that you don't miss any key steps.
