Casey Zavaleta is a strength coach, fitness educator, and nutritional therapy practitioner based in Toronto, ON. She began her career with Toronto FC in the High Performance Department where she created programs to improve athletes' high performance habits. As a personal trainer, she has found a passion for leading and coaching women to engage with fitness for better reasons than changing their body size. She is currently an educator with DTS Fitness Education, where she is the lead developer for DTS Habits Coach, a course that teaches trainers to help their clients improve their habits and change their beliefs about themselves.   As a former dancer, Casey struggled for many years with my body image and disordered eating, and learned to define my worth based on how my body looked. After educating herself and doing countless hours of internal work, Casey came to a deep understanding that wellness is about much more than external markers such as the size of our bodies or the amount of weight we can lift in the gym. In this episode we help you explore what it looks like to set strength training goals for yourself that still honor and respect your Intuitive Eating mindset and practice.   In this episode we discuss: How Casey evolved to become a strength coach that practices in an IE aligned way and how she made that shift. Tangible examples of what it means to stop obsessing about how we want to look and start focusing on how we want to feel. Examples of what it looks like to set goals that are strength based that aren’t geared specifically towards weight loss  Questions you can ask yourself to help navigate the tricky part of movement routines of creating a habit and being motivated to move your body. If you don’t know the meaning of “couch surfing” it’s basically where you stay on someone’s couch when traveling.  The platform Couchsurfing however doesn’t mean you have to sleep on someone’s couch… The point of Couchsurfing is  to “share authentic travel experiences” and your host will put you up in their home absolutely free.  In this episode of The Millennial Travel Podcast I discuss with Casey Fenton, Founder of Couchsurfing:  His story going to Iceland How a trip to Iceland was an impetuous for him starting Couchsurfing and us starting Under30Experiences.  The story of how Couchsurfing started How Casey flew to Iceland as a solo traveler and decided to find a couch to sleep on with locals Why Casey loves Iceland and has traveled their five times The quick story how Under30Experiences started. The book that opened up Casey’s eyes that we are all sleep. How a silly fight with his best friend opened his eyes to a lot of things about life. Casey’s idea of a “feedback ratio”.  Why it’s important to have ego and how we can use it as a tool.  How we can avoid suffering through non-attachment How to learn to trust yourself more and let others trust you.  Casey finishes talking about his startup Upstock and how you can incentivize employees with equity to anyone in your company with his tool.  Resources from Casey Fenton: Book: In Search of the Miraculous  Couchsurfing.com  Upstock.io CaseyFenton.com to sign up his newsletter You can find all the links and past show notes on millennialtravelpodcast.com Direct support for The Millennial Travel Podcast comes from The Millennial Travel Guidebook: Escape More, Spend Less, & Make Travel a Priority in Your Life... and from our new USA hiking and camping trips at Under30Experiences!

My guest today is Web Smith, the founder of 2PM, Inc. a curated, subscription-based media company with quick commentary on brands, data, and eCommerce. He invests in and advises for digitally native vertical brands, and spends most of his time in the intersection of digital media and eCommerce. Within the eCommerce industry, Web’s done many tours of duty: he was the cofounding CMO of Mizzen & Main. Before that, he handled marketing at Rogue. Most recently, he was the Director of eCommerce at Gear Patrol. We begin the episode talking about what Web learned working for Rogue Fitness. We discuss misconceptions around eCommerce. We talk about the purpose of advertising and how brands should think about spreading their messages. Then, we dive into the intersection of content and commerce, and explore brands like Supreme who turn off as many people as they attract. We talk about the future of retail, and explore the developing prospects for Dollar General, Wal-Mart, and J-Crew. Finally, we end with a conversation about Web’s journey from a hungry Houston kid to a multi-time founder. Web’s grit shines through in this conversation. Today my special guest is Casey Gauss which is a great example of an entrepreneur breaking out a normal and dropping out of college and jumping into the E-commerce world. Now Casey is a Co-Founder of Viral Launch which was a platform built and designed as a software, as a service platform to help Amazon sellers source launch and dominate on Amazon.com in the Amazon Marketplace to be more precise. So these are all third-party sellers. I was fortunate enough to meet Casey way back in the old days when he had just began and I really saw what wonderful potential this young fella had. And he's a brilliant guy regardless of his age. Certainly wisdom beyond his years and his quest for analytics, for measurement and performance is consistently above average for sure. That's what makes him Awesomer. Successfully, his company's performed over 30,000 product launches with 7,000 plus brands that are responsible cumulatively for billions of dollars and sales on Amazon. They've helped multiple products achieve number one best seller in their top level category in Amazon which is a great achievement. And fundamentally he has built this company which is a size at least of somewhere between 48 and 58 people at this point. And he's brought together extremely talented, developers and creative people and coaches and now management as well. So it's a real great pleasure to have Casey on the show today. I have a very unique connection with today’s guest. I went to elementary school with him and he lived just down the street from where I grew up. I am so excited about today’s episode.   Casey {from worthyandwell.com} + I have been buds almost since my business’ beginning. It’s been really fun to have a friend where we got to birth our businesses, programs, and services into the world together.   {This must be why moms who were pregnant together have unique + special bonds?! I think I’m kinda getting it.}   Anyways, she’s a master at helping people heal their relationship to food, and eat for fuel, flavor, and fun.   I adore Casey + what she teaches, mostly because she gave me a good excuse to use an analogy in my show notes {SAT, old school style}:   Your relationship with yourself is to your romantic relationships, as _____ is to all your relationships.   Give up?   It's food!   I love what Casey does because she doesn't teach you what to eat/not to eat. She teaches you how to use your own inner wisdom as a guide to know what to eat. This not only changes your relationship to food, it really changes all the relationships you have in your life.     Food + my relationship to it has been a huge part of my life, and I attribute changing the way I ate to attract {and keep} Stevie. I was a chronic dieter + calorie counter-extraordinaire. For years I believed that once I reached the perfect weight, all my dating problems would be solved + I could have any relationship I wanted.   It was only once I saw food as something as nourishing + not ‘something to be conquered’ did I transform the relationship I had with myself, and ultimately, attract the relationship I truly wanted. If you struggle with food, then this episode is for you.   About Casey:For many years Casey had an unhealthy and unhappy relationship with food, her body, and her life. She is a self-described queen of the all-or-none when it came to food + dieting. She read every diet book she could get her hands on and ate in a very rigid way (that would usually backfire). This left her exhausted + feeling stuck. She got her degree in nutrition from the University of Alberta, which was useful in learning how food affected her body. But what REALLY helped her was establishing a yoga practice. Yoga helped her let go of her perfectionist mentality + made her more mindful. It connected her with her own unique inner wisdom, which now serves to guide the way she eats, the way she treat her body, and the way she lives her life. In this episode, here’s what you’ll learn:1. How Casey created her own inner wisdom, and how it helps her make eating choices that keep her nourished + happy. {She’ll tell you how to create your own inner wisdom, too.}2. How to eat on a first date or in front of men without feeling self-conscious3. How mindful eating can help you attract the right relationship for you4. How to deal with different food choices + values in a relationship {eg, you’re a vegetarian + he’s not}   Resources:   Casey's 21-Day Mindful Eating Challenge   Worthy and Well   Dating Clarity Session
