The Adirondack Mountains are home to a remarkable diversity of plant species. Situated in northern New York, these mountains are harsh enough that they foster a thriving alpine community. Despite their ability to handle some of the worst weather conditions, alpine plants can be quite sensitive to human traffic. With more and more people flocking to these mountains every year, concern was growing that the alpine ecosystem was going to be trampled right off the mountain tops. Luckily the Summit Steward Program was put into place to protect and hopefully restore some of what has been lost. We revisit a conversation with Kayla White to learn about this vital program aimed at protecting the alpine flora of the ADKs. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Ugandan Muslims murdered Ugandan evangelist An evangelist who had received death threats from Muslim extremists was murdered after leading Muslims to Christ in eastern Uganda, reports Morning Star News. The body of 36-year-old evangelist Richard Malinga was found in the evening at Kayete Swamp in the Butebo District after he had texted his pastor that he was surrounded by Muslims. A local resident found the victim dead, in a pool of blood, and tied with ropes. Please pray that God would unmistakenly reveal Himself to these Muslim murderers, that they would repent, and profess Jesus Christ as their Savior. Biden v. Trump: Differing visions on the economy During last Thursday night's presidential debate, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump laid out starkly different visions. BIDEN: “His economy, he rewarded the wealthy. He had the largest tax cut in American history -- $2 trillion. You raised the deficit larger than any President has in any one term. He's the only president of the Herbert Hoover who's lost more jobs than he had when he began, since Herbert Hoover.” TRUMP: “The only thing he was right about is I gave you the largest tax cut in history. That's why we had all the jobs and the jobs went down and then they bounced back. “He's taking credit for bounced back jobs. You can't do that. He also said he inherited 9% inflation. No, he inherited almost no inflation and it stayed that way for 14 months. And then it blew up under his leadership because they spent money like a bunch of people that didn't know what they were doing. And they don't know what they were doing. It was the worst, probably the worst administration in history.” Biden falsely claimed he has better control of border than Trump Jake Tapper asked President Biden about the open border which he sanctioned. TAPPER: “President Biden, a record number of migrants have illegally crossed the southern border on your watch, overwhelming border states and overburdening cities such as New York and Chicago, and in some cases, causing real safety and security concerns. Given that, why should voters trust you to solve this crisis?” BIDEN: “Because we worked very hard to get a bipartisan agreement that not only changed all of that, but made sure that we are in a situation where you had no circumstance where they could come across the border with the number of border police that there are now. We significantly increased the number of asylum officers. “What I've done, since I've changed the law, what's happened? I've changed it in a way that now they're 40% fewer people coming across the border illegally. It's better than when he left office. And I'm going to continue to move until we get the total ban on the total initiative, relative to what we can do with more Border Patrol and more asylum officers.” TAPPER: “President Trump?” TRUMP: “I really don't know what he said at the end of that sentence. I don't think he knows what he said, either. “Look, we had the safest border in the history of our country. All he had to do was leave it. He decided to open up our border, open up our country to people that are from prisons, people that are from mental institutions, insane asylum, terrorists. We have the largest number of terrorists coming into our country right now, all terrorists, all over the world, not just in South America, all over the world they come from the Middle East, everywhere. “He didn't need legislation because I didn't have legislation. I said, ‘Close the border.' We had the safest border in history. In that final couple of months of my presidency, we had the safest border in history. Now, we have the worst border in history.” Are Trump supporters a threat to American democracy? Tapper asked Biden to defend one of his wild campaign claims. JAKE TAPPER: “President Biden, you have said, ‘Donald Trump and his [“Make America Great Again”] Republicans are determined to destroy American democracy. Do you believe that the tens of millions of Americans who are likely to vote for President Trump will be voting against American democracy?” BIDEN: “More they know about what he's done, yes. The more they know about what he's done.” Biden's committed to veto any national abortion ban On the abortion question, Biden committed to veto any national abortion ban if the Republicans gain a majority in the Senate and he is re-elected. BIDEN: “What he going to do, if in fact the [“Make America Great Again” Republicans and he gets elected, and the MAGA Republicans control the Congress, and they pass a universal ban on abortion period across the board at six weeks or seven or eight or 10 weeks, something very, very conservative? Is he gonna sign that bill? I'll veto it. He'll sign it.” CNN Poll: Trump trounced Biden in debate Registered voters who watched CNN's presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump largely think Trump outperformed Biden, according to a CNN poll of debate watchers conducted by Social Science Research Solutions. In the poll, 67% thought Trump was the better debater.  And, oddly enough, 33% thought Biden won the debate, reports CNN. Most said they have no real confidence in Biden's ability to lead the country. Kelly Ann Conway: Biden “can't do the job” Appearing on Fox News Channel's Special Report with Brett Baier, former Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway was blunt in her analysis of Biden's debate performance. CONWAY: “Joe Biden asked for this debate. He basically begged for this debate to save his presidency. And he's now harmed it even more. “The serious point is the one that people take away from this, which is this: This is a man who can't do the job. What's wrong with that? By the way, can't we admit that everybody has a relative who's in a situation like this? I hope Joe Biden lives another 20 years. I just think it should be spent in Delaware ASAP. “You [Brett Baier] and Peter Doocy just said the two magic words as to why it's not easy to remove Joe Biden and hasn't been easy for the 18 months they should have done it: Kamala Harris, people fear her. The fact that you even mentioned [California Governor] Gavin Newsom and [Michigan Governor] Gretchen Whitmer. How are we not mentioning the black woman Vice President? It's because she shed 20 senior staffers, because nobody has confidence in her competence. They are scared about her being the president. And I think that's a very important point here.” Justice of peace cannot be forced to officiate “gay” faux weddings On Friday, the Supreme Court of Texas ruled in favor of Dianne Hensley, a justice of the peace in Waco, who had been reprimanded for not performing homosexual faux weddings, reports The Christian Post. The court also reinstated her lawsuit against the State Commission on Judicial Conduct. The commission had previously issued a public warning for her refusal to officiate faux homosexual weddings, citing a violation of judicial impartiality based on perverted sexual preference. Oklahoma requires a Bible in every classroom Oklahoma officials announced Thursday the state is requiring a copy of the Bible to be in every public school classroom, beginning immediately, reports The Oklahoman. In a press conference, Ryan Walters, Superintendent of Oklahoma Public Schools, explained that the Bible was essentially foundational to America. TRUCK DRIVER: “If I start freaking out and screaming and moving around, the truck might fall into the river. I was praying. I was crying. And I was trying to just stay calm and just hope and pray that they would be able to get me out because I didn't think they will be able to.” When I told Alexis that the donation which her husband, David, and she had made, enabled us to meet and surpass our $84,000 fundraising goal, she said this. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Nicaragua has shut down 250 Protestant groups Roman Catholic Churches have faced persecution in Nicaragua under the regime of Daniel Ortega. The dictator is increasingly targeting Protestant churches as well.  The central American country shut down over 250 Protestant groups in recent years. Earlier this year, authorities imprisoned 11 Evangelical pastors associated with Mountain Gateway, a ministry that drew thousands to its Christ-centered events. Nicaragua is ranked 30th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian.   Israeli Jews are asking for New Testaments Jews for Jesus reports more people of the Jewish faith are seeking New Testaments. The nonprofit offers the New Testament to Israelis for free. The group sent over 1,200 New Testaments to Israelis since the Muslim terrorist group Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th, 2023. Aaron Abramson, the Executive Director of Jews for Jesus, told The Christian Post that the terrorist attack has prompted many Israelis to have spiritual questions. He said, “Israel has prided itself in its ability to defend itself, so [the Hamas attack] was a real blow to that for people. … If you can't put your trust in … a military solution … then where do you put your trust? … And I think that's why a lot of people were starting to sort of dig into those spiritual questions.”  In Romans 1:16, the Apostle Paul wrote, “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.” Supreme Court okay with Biden's censorship of Facebook The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in favor of the Biden administration yesterday in a social media case. Multiple states and social media users accused the government of pressuring media companies, like Facebook, to censor content about COVID-19 and the 2020 presidential election. Justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, and Neil Gorsuch ruled against the Biden administration. In the dissenting opinion, Justice Alito warned, “If a coercive campaign is carried out with enough sophistication, it may get by. That is not a message this Court should send.” Vermont's crisis pregnancy centers allowed to speak the truth A federal court in Vermont is allowing pro-life pregnancy centers to continue their lawsuit against the state. The centers are challenging a state law that censors their free speech. The law only applies to pregnancy centers, which could face fines of up $10,000 if the state's attorney general believes their advertisements are misleading.  Julia Payne with Alliance Defending Freedom said, “Pregnancy centers should be free to serve women and offer the support they need without fear of unjust government punishment. As our case continues, we will urge the court to support the rights of pregnancy centers that provide these critical care services.”  70% of Americans approve of homosexual faux marriage A new survey from Gallup found nearly 70% of Americans believe that faux homosexual marriage should be legal. And 64% believe that sexually perverted lifestyles are morally acceptable.  However, support for these issues is plateauing and even declining slightly. This is driven by a drop in support for such lifestyles by Republicans. Forty-six percent of Republicans support such lifestyles now, down from 55% in 2021. The drop in support comes as Democrats have supported sexually perverted lifestyles for children through the schools and medical industry. Low home inventory and high interest rates drives prices higher The National Association of Realtors reports the sale of previously owned homes is down 2.8% in May, compared to last year. Existing home sales are now at a 30-year low. With low inventory and high interest rates, home prices continue to climb. The median home price in May was a record $419,300. That's up 5.8% compared to last year.  If you can forgive, you'll be happier The American Bible Society released their latest data from the “State of the Bible USA 2024 Report.” The report found that people who say they are willing to forgive others were more likely to score higher in Human Flourishing which involves happiness, health, purpose, character, and relationships. The report also noted that young people who engage with Scripture score higher in Human Flourishing. Dr. John Blake, editor-in-chief of the State of the Bible series, said, “Not only do [Gen Zers] score higher on the Human Flourishing scale than other young adults who don't read the Bible — but they have the highest score of any generation.” In Proverbs 8:35, Wisdom says, “For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the LORD.” Why Virginia Worldview listener gave $200 Ginger and her husband Michael in Jonesville, Virginia gave $200 yesterday to help fund the 6-member newscast team for another fiscal year. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark 100,000 Armenian Christians facing genocide Over 100,000 Armenian Christians are facing a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, a landlocked region between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Last month, Azerbaijani protestors blocked the only road into the region, cutting off the area from food, supplies, and medicine. Christian aid and humanitarian organizations signed a joint statement of concern, warning conditions are now present for genocide. The statement said, “The current Azerbaijani aggression against the Armenians of Nagorno Karabakh conforms to a long pattern of ethnic and religious cleansing of Armenian and other Christian communities in the region.” Japan facing population crisis Japan's prime minister issued a dire warning to the country's lawmakers on Monday regarding their population crisis. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said it is “Now or never when it comes to policies regarding births and child-rearing. … Japan is standing on the verge of whether we can continue to function as a society.” Japan has the second highest proportion of people aged 65 or older of any country in the world. And their births last year fell below 800,000 for the first time. Kishida hopes to double funding for child-related programs as the nation of 125 million faces demographic decline. Psalm 127:3-5 says, “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.” Canada drops charges against pastor who held “drive-in” services during COVID lockdown Last Monday, prosecutors in Canada dropped charges against an Ontario pastor for holding worship services during COVID-19 lockdowns. Pastor Henry Hildebrandt led his congregation in drive-in services during a stay-at-home period in 2021. Police gave him an $800 ticket, claiming he did not have the right to do this despite there being exceptions for drive-in religious services. Hildebrandt said, “There comes a time when we as Christians have to stand for what is right regardless if it is popular.” Acts 5:29 says, “We must obey God rather than men.” Connection between decline in church attendance and despair deaths The National Bureau of Economic Research released a new study on the connection between declining American church attendance and despair deaths. Deaths by drugs, alcohol, and suicide are known as deaths of despair. The researchers wrote, “We show that the initial rise in deaths of despair in the US was preceded by a large decline in organized religious participation … states with high levels of religiosity have suffered less from mortality due to alcohol, suicides, or drug poisonings.  … The impact that we witness seems to be driven by the decline in formal religious participation. … These results underscore the importance of cultural institutions, such as religious establishments, in promoting well-being.” Dept. of Justice arrested two pro-abortion vandals The U.S. Justice Department announced yesterday it finally arrested abortion activists following hundreds of attacks on churches and pro-life centers last year. A federal grand jury indicted 27-year-old Caleb Freestone and 23-year-old Amber Smith-Stewart for vandalizing pregnancy centers in Florida. The two of them spray-painted threats on the centers including, “If abortions aren't safe, than neither are you,” “YOUR TIME IS UP!!,” and “WE'RE COMING for U.” If convicted, they could face up to 12 years in prison and fines of up to $350,000. Ecclesiastes 8:11 says, “Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil.” The monarch butterfly reflects God's creativity Have you ever seen the tiny yet beautiful monarch butterfly and marveled at the colors and the grace of this little creature?  Kayla White, the author of the 78-page hardback entitled Melody: A Monarch Miracle, captured the dramatic transformation from caterpillar to butterfly with vivid pictures and detailed descriptions. A slight increase in U.S. children living with married mom and dad And finally, a report from the Institute for Family Studies identified a positive trend for families following the COVID-19 pandemic. The share of children living in a married, two-parent household is up slightly. The percentage of kids living in intact families fell from over 85% in the 1960s to under 65% by the 2010s. However, that proportion has increased by about 1.5 percentage points since 2014. The report noted, “All in all, the decline in intact families in America appears to have bottomed out for now. A Worldview Special Report: A closer look at the monarch butterfly Time now for a Worldview Special Report by Emily Munday. I'm Adam McManus Have you ever wondered how a monarch butterfly came to be? The Worldview spoke to Kayla White, the author and photographer of Melody: A Monarch Miracle about this glorious representation of God's creation. WHITE: “One of the things I learned about the wonder of who God is through writing Melody is that the Lord can create a very ‘simple' creature, yet it can confound the smartest human minds on Earth. The monarch alone displays enough of the genius of our Creator to keep men busy mining the depths of His design for literally decades. We still don't understand or know everything there is to know about the monarch!” She marvels at the intricate details which God fashioned in the monarch butterfly. WHITE: “One of my favorite surprising facts about the monarch butterfly is that parts of the butterfly such as its wings proboscis (what it uses to drink nectar), and eyes actually start growing inside the caterpillar. We call them imaginal discs at this stage, and they finish developing inside the chrysalis.” Taking the photographs of the monarch butterfly's transformation herself transformed White spiritually. WHITE: “Taking pictures of the butterflies taught me more patience—I had to wait for quite a while to get some of the pictures, especially of the butterfly emerging from the chrysalis. Taking pictures of each stage of the butterfly's lifecycle also illustrated the power of prayer to me again. “I had several friends praying for me and the chrysalis that is used in the book as I worked on getting the pictures. It only takes a few minutes for the butterfly to emerge, so I had a very short window to get good photographs. The lighting and focus must be exactly right for them to turn out well since I only had one chance!” She said that she wanted to convey the power of God to children through her documentation of this tiny butterfly with a four-inch wingspan. WHITE: “One thing I want to convey to children about God is His power to create something from nothing, to make a new creation. He is the God who works miracles. Watching the caterpillar form a chrysalis is something unlike anything I've ever seen—it literally completely changes form before your eyes, with the change being fully completed once it emerges as a butterfly. “A beautiful butterfly that flies thousands of miles and drinks nectar is so completely different from a worm that can't travel very far, inches around, and spends its whole life chewing on leaves. It really is truly a miracle.” White revealed how she captured the vivid pictures of the butterflies. WHITE: “I use a variety of methods for photographing the butterflies at the various stages of development. Most of my pictures of the egg, the larval, and the pupal stages come from raising them in captivity. I captured the caterpillar as it emerged from the egg while indoors because the egg is so small that the only possible way obtain such shots is by being in a very still environment. “I bring the caterpillars to special photography sites once they start molting or forming a chrysalis to capture those stages. The easiest way I've found to photograph the butterflies is to take a few pictures just after releasing them into the wild.” Pick up a copy of Kayla White's 78-page hardback book entitled Melody: A Monarch Miracle. The Adirondack Mountains are home to a remarkable diversity of plant species. Situated in northern New York, these mountains are harsh enough that they foster a thriving alpine community. Despite their ability to handle some of the worst weather conditions, alpine plants can be quite sensitive to human traffic. With more and more people flocking to these mountains every year, concern was growing that the alpine ecosystem was going to be trampled right off the mountain tops. Luckily the the Summit Steward Program was put into place to protect and hopefully restore some of what has been lost.
