If you've tried collagen for aging skin and haven't gotten the results you want... It's because most collagen is missing a critical ingredient. And without this “missing link,” collagen WILL NOT WORK. With this "missing link" you can turn loose, saggy skin –– into tight, glowing, younger-looking skin! So what is that missing link I am talking about? VITAMIN C. Of course, you may know Vitamin C as a powerful immune-boosting nutrient... But did you know Vitamin C is a critical nutrient for anti-aging? You see, Vitamin C it's the "glue" that holds collagen together in your body. And if you're low in Vitamin C, well all of that collagen you're taking is pointless. And here's the thing, not all Vitamin C supplements are created equal… If you're taking Vitamin C in capsule or tablet form, you are missing out on key nutrients as they will simply pass through your body without being absorbed (you can thank your stomach acid for that). However, our friends over at Purality Health have a patented formula that utilizes something called ‘MICELLE LIPOSOMAL' technology which delivers the nutrients into your bloodstream – proven to be 800% more efficient! So, if your skin is looking older than you... And the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, sagging skin, and otherwise “old-looking” skin frustrates you… Give Purality Health's Micelle Liposomal Vitamin C a try! It's backed by a 180-day money-back guarantee. And today, we have a 30% OFF coupon for you! Just visit puralityhealth.com and use the coupon DRJ to access 30% OFF your purchase today!   Today's Episode is brought to you by Paleovalley's Organ Complex, my favorite way to get a full spectrum of traditional superfoods, loaded with nutrients, into your body faster, easier, and without having to tolerate the taste (or cooking for that matter).     Here's the part you'll love, especially if you understand the importance of eating these nutrient-dense organ meats… Grass Fed Organ Complex contains not one but three organs from healthy, 100% grass-fed, pasture-raised cows so you are getting a more diverse array of nutrients.  Right now, you can get 15% off Organ Complex using the code "JOCKERS" or by clicking here: Paleovalley.com/jockers    This episode is brought to you by Pique, where plants and science intersect to produce teas and supplements of unrivaled efficacy, purity, and convenience. Pique teas are blended with other functional plants specifically designed to support metabolism, gut health, digestion, and shut down appetite…all while helping to ease bloat and curb sugar cravings. If you practice intermittent fasting, drinking these award-winning flavors will not break your fast! I enjoy Pique teas even when not fasting, so I use different flavors for different benefits throughout my day. Pique's revolutionary Tea Crystals—made with cold extraction technology—are organic, vegan, non-GMO, sugar-free, free of preservatives or additives, and triple toxin screened for purity. What's more, these pure teas dissolve in hot or cold water, so no prep or brewing is required. Try Pique today risk-free and get 5% off, plus a FREE pouch with 20 premium samples when you purchase a fasting bundle. Head over to piquelife.com/drjockers and use code DRJOCKERS.   Dr. Jockers finds himself in the hot seat again! This time he's being interviewed by Season Johnson of the 'Thrive Through Cancer' podcast. Their conversation covers intermittent and extended fasting (and what's actually happening in our bodies while we're doing that),  how that can impact cancer growth in our body, and how fasting can enhance other cancer-related therapies.   As usual, Dr. Jockers is willing to share all of his knowledge to help you heal and function at your best, offering science-based solutions to improve your health and life. And in this case, fight cancer! This is a great episode to check out for anyone who's concerned about cancer – or has a friend or family member going through it.    Season Johnson is the founder of the 'Kick Cancer' movement, a functional nutrition therapy practitioner herself, and a 'cancer mama' (who went from having one child diagnosed with cancer to helping thousands all over the world). She asks Dr. Jockers all the right questions and we can consider ourselves blessed to be able to listen in on their conversation and reap the rewards of feeling more emboldened in the ways in which we can tackle 'the big C'. Please join us.   “If we looked at it as simple as: when you are digesting, your body is focused on digestion. So we can't be focused on as much detoxification and destruction of these unhealthy cells. So when you give your body a break from digestion, it can go to work." -Season Johnson       Subscribe to the podcast on: Apple Podcast Stitcher Spotify PodBean TuneIn Radio   In This Episode: What got Dr. Jockers interested in the natural health field? Soccer, or futbol for most of the world, has a history that goes back 150 years to England. Soccer has long struggled to gain the mainstream American status of Baseball, Football and Basketball, even Hockey. Still, Houston as the fourth largest city now has 2 professional soccer teams, Houston Dynamo(M) & Houston Dash(F), several collegiate teams and many thousands of youth playing in leagues. And with some 2026 World Cup matches likely headed this way, soccer is definitely on the rise. With us this edition of OJ is sportscaster Glenn Davis. Best known as lead play-by-play announcer for broadcasts of the Houston Dynamo and his weekly radio show - "Soccer Matters: with Glenn Davis” -Davis has called World Cup matches, Olympic socce, MLS matches, collegiate soccer and more. A pro soccer player in the 1980s, Davis has also coached youth soccer and works as a consultant. His charitable work includes a youth soccer camp titled "Kick Cancer" that features former and current soccer players as coaches to raise money for pediatric cancer research. He also has a KPFT connection. Glenn Davis -We are happy to welcome you back to Open Journal.

Talk About Cancer

Jason spoke lovingly about his memories of his mom - who battled three types of cancer for over a decade - and the ways in which he continues to remember and honor her legacy since she died in 2019. He also shared some interesting stories about kilts and prostate cancer awareness. What a storyteller Jason was. There was literally a story to illustrate every point he made in our conversation! It was really interesting to hear how Jason's experience as an officer for more than 20 years has influenced his perspectives about life and death. One part that stuck with me was how Jason didn't make it in time to see his mom before she died, which was so crushing but I could see that Jason was able to move forward from that because he had an important job to do - which was to MC the celebration of life she planned. I mean, what a gift she had given to Jason so that he knew exactly what he needed to do to honor her life and get closure. And then there were the actual gifts for the family as well! What an amazing way to let her family continue to experience her love beyond her death. I had a mini epiphany from our conversation. If you recall, at one point I was talking to Jason about not letting what happened during the last few months of my dad's life consume my memories of him, because it was a small part and shouldn't define his life and who he was as a person. When I thought about that more after our conversation, I realized that only when I was able to move on from those imageries of suffering in my head did the unexpected moments of breakdown start to happen less. Maybe it just took time for those imageries to become more blurry and be less painful in my mind. I do often wonder at what point will the unexpected moments of intense emotions stop occurring. Is it 5 years? 10 year? Or maybe never? I don't know yet. You can find Jason at: What's Your Emergency podcast: http://wyeradio.com/Kilted to Kick Cancer: https://www.kiltedtokickcancer.org/A couple of books Jason recommended for people who want to better understand the experience of someone who is facing their own mortality. Chasing Daylight by Paul KalanithiWhen Breath Becomes Air by Eugene O'KellyPlease subscribe to the podcast if you would like to hear more stories from cancer survivors, caregivers, and family members.  A CNN HERO Rabbi G began a non profit organization, Kids Kicking Cancer, after watching his very young daughter die of cancer over 30 years ago.  Rather than fall into a hole of despair, Rabbi G decided to channel his grief toward helping other children and their families.   His powerful mantra- POWER PEACE PURPOSE and the term he coined and trademarked BREATH BRAKE really speaks volumes for children with cancer.  Rabbi G has taken his program globally and you can find him in remote parts of Africa and in small villages in Asia helping children to regain their power in the face of their illness.  Very remarkably, Rabbi G has been able to use his powerful techniques for children and adults everywhere with and without illness and he has been invited to teach his program to corporate executives both in the U.S. as well as across the globe.  Empowering parents and their children to regain their sense of self and empower them after trauma and illness has shown children everywhere that these techniques really DO work.   Children can feel helpless and disempowered many times during the course of their daily activities in the classroom, in the playground and even in the home.  Rabbi G is bringing his program to schools everywhere so that ALL children can reap the benefits.  You don't want to miss our conversation and you will be laughing and crying during this poignant interview. Visit Atara at Curlee GirleeVisit Grace at The Baby Spot

"Cancer" is a word that should never be uttered in the same sentence with the word "child." But it is, and with increasing frequency. In 2018, it is estimated that 16,000 kids will be diagnosed with cancer. Today's episode is about how to best help these children through cancer treatment. Season Johnson's son, Kicker, was diagnosed with leukemia as a little boy, and Season supported him through his chemotherapy regimen with a combination of nutrient-dense foods and detoxification protocols. She observed the benefits he experienced and now she is on a mission to support and educate parents whose children have also been diagnosed with cancer. Season, a nutritional therapy practitioner, is the founder of KICK CancER, an organization with a science-based, holistic approach to healing. Its focus is to educate and empower parents to shore up their children's health with dietary advice--emphasizing real, whole foods--and methods to support the health and quality of life of their children. Amber Brand is back. She is usually my Bachelor Buddy but she hasn't been able to follow the Bachelor Nick hype. We catch up on what has been going on with Bachelorland. We love make-up and we talk about some mistakes that may make women look older when it comes to how we do our makeup. http://www.cheatsheet.com/gear-style/beauty-mistakes-that-make-you-look-older.html/6/ Amber introduces me to LipSense and shares her supplier - https://facebook.com/Levresdamour/ The new year hasn't started as Amber had expected. Please see the below that Amber posted yesterday on Facebook: "On January 6th I was diagnosed with breast cancer and on January 11th we learned it was stage two and what the rest of our year will look like. After meeting with my team of amazing oncologists, we learned that I will be receiving chemotherapy, going through a mastectomy and then also receiving radiation. Due to my diagnosis and our aggressive approach, Nick and I have also decided to postpone our wedding day and celebration for when my treatment is complete and when we can also celebrate me being cancer free. However, Nick and I did decide to still get married so we could be husband and wife through this journey. On January 19th, we were fortunate enough to have Reegan marry us with Nick and Tad as our witnesses. As this mug says, I plan on making this cancer my bitch and still have a great 2017 despite the bumpy road we may have in front of us. I have to give a special shout out on this mug as it was created by my favorite Etsy shop owner when I wanted something to show my humor and positive spin on this difficult turn of events. She also helped create the idea of having a motivational quote on the back to keep me fighting every day. Her link is in my comments because she is amazing and I appreciate this mug more than she or anyone else knows. Over the last few weeks as we have slowly been telling people the news and the outpouring of support has been amazing. We are so extremely fortunate to have such an amazing support group of cheerleaders by both our sides. We have also created a caring bridge website to help provide more background on how we came to this diagnosis and to also have one place for people who want to keep up on my progress throughout this year since it is hard to update everyone. https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/amberscheerleaders" The amazing mug and so many other awesome mugs that we talked about on this podcast can be found here - https://www.etsy.com/shop/prettymepinkboutique Follow Amber on her journey by following her Caring Bridge - https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/amberscheerleaders She is going to have a long journey but as we cheer her on with prayer and positivity she is going to kick cancer in the ass!!!
