Today we are focusing on choosing your words intentionally when describing your life. Language is a powerful tool that not only keeps humanity connected but creates the world we see around us. Simply put, words have power. Let's dive into to this truth and learn a few tips on how to change the words we use on this episode of LifeClub. LifeWork Based on this session, set aside at least 10 minutes, to complete and reflect on the following: + Note, how you are physical feeling in your body in this moment when it comes to physical energy/sensations. + Say the following 10 words out loud: Beautiful Free Prosperity Wonderful Awesome Grateful Confident Peaceful Advancement Stability + Now, check in and note how you are currently feeling after saying our list of words. Do you feel a difference? If so, journal what you are experiencing. If not, say them again, and check in. + After doing so, come up with a list of your own words that describe how you would like to feel on a daily basis and words that describe experiences you would like to have. For example, let's say you would like to experience a healthy relationship with someone you love, describe what that relationship would look and feel like (i.e. peaceful, exciting, productive, and supportive, etc.). Do the same activity we just completed by checking in with how you physically feel in your body. Some words that describe physical sensations in the body include lighter, calmer, and energized, etc.) + Be sure to journal your experience. Today we will be speaking about comfort zones. There is a difference between a comfort zone and being comfortable. When many speak about comfort zones what they are really speaking about is a space of avoidance where parameters are set up with the goal of keeping them “safe”. On this episode, we unpack avoidance, discover what patterns may me holding us back, and seek new ways of going forward one step at a time. Here is your lifework: Based on this session, set aside at least 10 minutes, and begin to reflect on and consider the following: Do you tend to avoid certain areas of daily living on a regular basis in your personal or professional life? Examples include spending time in healthy activities with friends, resisting making certain phone calls, or procrastinating completing a profitable task that you actually would like to accomplish? Are you able to identify patterns of overthinking which show up as questioning a decision you've already made or coming up with arguments of defense within your mind? Do you tend to talk aka think yourself out of healthy activities you'd genuinely like to participate in? Describe the comfort zones you've created for yourself. In other words, what are the behaviors and thinking patterns of avoidance you practice? In what areas do you practice these patterns? Now, consider the why beneath that avoidance and at least 1 to three new patterns and behaviors that may support you in going forward to accomplish the very things you've been running away from due to avoidance but would actually benefit you. Be sure to journal your experience. And feel free to share that experience in the comment section. About LifeClub The Podcast LifeClub w/ Tashima Jones is a feel-good podcast. Are you anxious about resting and taking day to relax? Are you able to identify moments in time when you made a pact with yourself to sacrifice rest in order to achieve? Do you have more than what you can realistically accomplish in a day on your to-do list for the day? Do you get frustrated when you don't complete your to-list on the same day? When you do complete your to-do list do you add on more tasks or take that time to relax As you reflect on the questions above, consider healthy resolutions to the fear and hypersensitivity and begin to value yourself within by recognizing that you are truly priceless and not amount of work or material wealth can change that. Most people struggle with healing their perspective because they see themselves through a distorted lens of old experiences, by who they used to be, or from their childhood self. As we journey along this session, we will see how Identity shifting plays a major role in shifting our mindset and life overall. LifeWork Based on this episode, set aside at least 20 minutes to start and consider the following: How do you see yourself? What are your core morals and values about yourself? Were you supported as a child when it came to core needs (including positive affirmation, a nurturing environment (one fit for physical, mental, and emotional growth and well-being), consistency/stability, and love (in speech and action)? How does your thinking reflect old experiences, your true identity, and/or a distortion of your identity? This week Anna is joined by Bill Lambert from The Kennel Club talking about London's biggest dog event - Discover Dogs 15-16 October at the Excel Centre. It's a doggy dream day out for all dog lovers, especially those aspiring to bring a dog into your life. As a fun weekend highlighting a host of dog activities like Agility, we chat about how over 150 dog breeds will be showcased by their officiados, experts in every breed. It gives people the chance to get up close to the dogs they may have thought would be a perfect match. But may realise that a bark-less Basenji may be more suitable for their experience and lifestyle than a Bassett Hound. There's the return of the hugely popular ‘Cuddle Corner', which allows visitors to relax, and de-stress by stroking a host of different puppies and dogs. Apart from an opportunity to enjoy retail therapy galore, there's a chance to listen to experts, and watch Medical Detection Dogs in action. Plus there's the penultimate Scruffts competition, with the finale at Crufts in March 2023. And for those football fans there's the Woofball world Cup where Barkelona and Woof Hound United compete in the main arena. There's also plenty on the British Vulnerable Breeds, those that for some odd reason have fallen out of popularity. That includes A DOG'S LIFE co-host, Mr Binks, an English Toy Terrier, who is technically more rare than a giant panda!Find out more at discoverdogs.org.ukInstagram @thekennelclubukJoin the Dog's Life Club on Patreon. This week Anna is over the moon to get the scoop on a new charity - Assistance Dog Assessment Association. She is joined by two of the Trustees, Richard Mearns and Selina Valentine, along with Richard's Assistance Dog, Ziggy. We chat about why the charity has been launched; namely to clarify what defines an Assistance Dog in the UK. Often Assistance Dogs that are not partnered with a visible disability can lead to confusion with service providers and businesses. Especially with the discussion between what constitutes an Emotional Support Dog and a Mental Health Assistance Dog. We also chat about why independent assessment run by expert trainers can allow for more dogs to be trained and qualified as Assistance that perform tasks, helping their client navigate the world with task related assistance. Selina talks about her own assistance dogs and how they have helped her, and why she is passionate to help others find an easier way through assessment and qualification achieve their goal to benefit from a dog by their side. We chat about the team of experienced Trustees coming from a variety of charities and dog focused organisations, which is key to getting it right in the owner trained sector. We talk about raising awareness and how to donate. Find out more at theadaa.org or follow on Instagram @theadaa_org and Twitter @theADAA_orgAnd if you haven't heard it, you can listen to Richard's story with Ziggy in Episode 80Join the Dog's Life Club on Patreon. Yeah, I said it. Have you ever been in love with someone who doesn't share your feelings You live in hope that one day they'll light up your phone with a text that says how much they can't live without you. Or, you fantasize that they'll leave their partner and run back into your arms. They'll say what a fool they've been and how much they need you by their side. It's romantic, right? Nope. And this kind of "perpetual hope" can be so dangerous for your relationships that I feel I have to say something to anyone out there still waiting for a crush to change their mind. Before you give your heart to someone who doesn't deserve it today, listen to this episode. It could save years of your life. --- Email us! Steve Gwenin was senior manager of a mid-sized business, he found his surf time compromised and grew frustrated by work, family commitments and by himself! Steve realised he was no longer being who he wanted to be. He stepped away from his role and company to re-shape his life and dedicate more of his time to surfing, and to his family. Questions from other surfers led him to sharing experience and developing Surfers Life Club, and the FaceBook community Work Less Surf More. Both are communities of senior managers and founders who surf, and both help them to work less and surf more. Steve has over 20 years experience in senior management and leadership in the personal and professional development sector, and is a qualified and experienced Coaching Master, NLP practitioner, Mentor, Instructor and Train the Trainer. Through hundreds of conversations, Steve has identified the key choices we make that stop us surfing and alternative choices and actions we can still take to get our lives back on track and us back in the water. He helps others who want to re-shape their lives and start living the surfers dream. The National Abortion Federation reports more than 176,000 instances of picketing at clinics (and nearly 34,000 arrests) since 1977. It has documented more than 16,000 reported cases of hate mail or harassing phone calls, over 1,500 acts of vandalism and 400 death threats. (cnn.com)Do pro-life protests and demonstrations, often taking place within a stone's throw of organizations like Planned Parenthood, only open the door to the potential for violence? Has anyone's mind ever truly been changed because of a picket sign?Today's Kingdom Culture Conversation features Stacy, a Northwest Christian high school student who is deeply involved in the school's Students for Life club. "Involved" means that she's on the frontlines--protesting/educating at Planned Parenthood and she's been involved in counter-demonstrations at the state capitol as pro-choice advocates demonstrate against the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade by the U.S. Supreme Court's pending decision in the Dobbs case.We put these tough questions in front of Stacy and, further, we ask, "What is it like on the frontlines? What do you see, hear, and experience when you are involved in these protests and demonstrations?""Kingdom Culture Conversations" is a podcast created through Frameworks, a Biblical worldview initiative of Northwest Christian School. For more information on Frameworks, please visit: https://frameworks.ncsaz.org/For more information on Northwest Christian School, visit: https://www.ncsaz.org/To reach out to Geoff Brown, please email gbrown@ncsaz.org or you can reach him by cell phone: (623)225-5573.
So, this wasn't the episode we planned to release this week. But an online conversation turned into something so unexpected that we scrapped the original plan and recorded something new, because I couldn't wait to talk about it. I asked men about their specific insecurities when it comes to early dating. And what we got back was more vulnerable and real than anyone expected. Not only that, but the women's responses to the men's candid comments were beautiful. The incredible responses also brought up some themes, which I decided to take closer look at in this episode. These include: - Men's top insecurities, including how they feel insecure about being insecure - Helpful ways to validate our partner if they feel insecure - How to manage our feelings when the insecurity we see in someone else reminds us of our own insecurities. This episode is all about bravery and kindness, and my goal is that by the end of it, you will understand and be able to relate to men a little better.
