Lasting change begins when you decide that your well-being matters enough to prioritize. Kiona Sinks returns to share how the Shift Experience didn't just influence her habits—it completely reframed her relationship with herself. From vitamin routines to food choices, energy levels to emotional presence, she's living proof that when you start showing up with intention, everything changes. Her journey reminds us that healing isn't just physical—it's mental, spiritual, and emotional—and when those parts align, you unlock a version of yourself that's not only healthier, but more powerful than you imagined. Key Takeaways: Intentional living creates a ripple effect—when you prioritize small daily choices, everything from energy to clarity improves. Healing is holistic; physical health, mental focus, emotional regulation, and spiritual peace all work together. Knowing yourself is key to showing up fully in your relationships, work, and purpose-driven life. Investing in your health now prevents burnout later and opens the door to greater impact and alignment. Juliana Radke was nominated as a Beck's Player with Heart for her commitment and passion on and off the field. What she loves most about high school sports is their competitiveness. Even her teammates who don't want to play in college or are only there for their friends still come out every day with passion and gusto and simply try their best. Juliana is involved in soccer, the National Honors Society, and Student Ambassadors, and is a freshman retreat leader. She also participates as a Friends of Charlestown State Park volunteer, CCSA Soccer Camp, PHS Soccer Camp, and NHS tutoring/activities. To Juliana, agriculture means hard work and reaping the benefits of that hard work. It means building with the land, not on the land. She plans to major in business management and minor in entrepreneurship in hopes of starting her own business as a plant supplier to local businesses. She says she owes all her success to God and tries to give him glory through all her actions. Mike Ferguson in the Morning 10-23-24 (8:05am) We discuss acceptable and unacceptable Halloween costumes. We delve into a new YouGov survey that asked Americans about their Halloween costumes and whether they find certain costumes — such as a costume with a realistic gun or other weapon, or a cultural costume worn by someone who is not of that culture — to be acceptable or unacceptable. Among other findings, the data shows Halloween is for the young. Adults under 45 are far more likely than older Americans to say they plan to dress up for the holiday. The poll, conducted October 11-14, found that 27% of Americans had plans to dress up for Halloween, including 10% who already have a costume picked out, and 17% who haven't picked their costume out yet but they do plan to wear one. Adults under 45 are far more likely than older Americans to say they plan to dress up for Halloween this year (48% vs. 11%). EPISODE 376 - Ryan Estrada - Artist, Author and Adventurer - Garfield, Cartoons, Movies and MoreStudent Ambassador is my series of fun globe-trotting adventure stories for kids who want to see the world and make it a better place. Each story is inspired by my own travels, but turned into an action-adventure comedy! Readers can solve the mystery along with the character using real fun facts about the world. The Missing Dragon covers a kidnapping in Korea and Japan, while The Silver City is a monster mystery in the mines of Mexico. Both feature amazing art by the great Axur Eneas!Ryan Estrada is an artist, author, and adventurer. His books include Banned Book Club, Occulted, No Rules Tonight, and the Student Ambassador series. He has worked for Star Trek, Popeye, Flash Gordon, and Garfield. He was a gator wrangler in America, an ambassador to Australia, an undocumented animator in Canada, a ghostbuster in South Korea, a Bollywood voiceover actor in India, wandered Kim Jong Il's secret tunnels to North Korea, slept on a bench in a typhoon in Japan, dug toilets in Thailand, did an accidental illegal border crossing into Burma, made road comics in Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Vietnam and The Philippines, documentaries in Colombia and Ecuador, and podcasts in Malaysia, ran with the bulls in Mexico, barely escaped being eaten by lions in Kenya, fainted atop Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, got caught in a Peruvian coca war, lived in a Costa Rican rainforest and a Panamanian volcano.RANDOM FACTS-Ryan started pitching comics to newspapers when he was six. He bothered the same newspaper until they finally hired him at age sixteen.-Ryan accidentally invented the word normcore. He'd been the official cartoonist of LiveJournal before Putin had the company bought out so he could move the servers in Russia and use them to shut down activists. Ryan Estrada joins me to dive into “The Silver City,” the second part in the “Student Ambassador” series, which features a new adventure with main character Joseph Bazan. We talk about Joseph and how he came to be as well as how he fares in the newest mystery. This comic is based on a very real place and Ryan goes into how he world-built the newest comic. For “No Rules Tonight,” Ryan worked once again with his wife Kim Hyun Sook on this very real look at South Korea in the 1980s. We talk about what the country was like in this time period and how this influenced the story. Ryan shares the collaboration process with his wife and how this continues the story found in “Banned Book Club.”

On Episode 244 I sit down with Mark Wilbourne. Mark is currently at CU for a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Applied Math and a certificate in Engineering Leadership. He really enjoys engineering and analytical thinking and also working with people so he is looking into careers that combine the two. Mark would love to be a systems engineer/project manager or anything that takes more of a global approach to tough problems working in the field of engineering. At school, he is a Student Ambassador which is where he found his passion for people. Mark got into CrossFit through the influence of his parents and being connected to Kevin Ogar while he was in spinal cord rehab in Denver. His Dad started CrossFit in Afghanistan when Mark was in middle school and both of his parents have been doing it since. Mark always made fun of CrossFit and was more into endurance sports but Kevin showed him early CrossFit and all that it has to offer early on in his injury and he enjoyed how he didn't have to think and just show up each day and know the coaches would make him better. Athletically, Mark would like to return to endurance sports later on once he gets enough strength and settles into more of a home. I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed this conversation today. Mark is someone who I have gotten to know better during his time at CrossFit Roots. During this conversation, we talked about a wide range of topics including The tunnels underneath Vegas, Elon Musk and aerospace engineering, Mark's dive into Cross Country, Track and Field, and Endurance sports, His accident, and getting into CrossFit. I really enjoyed this conversation and I hope that you all enjoy it as much as I did!

Tara Johnson, Columbus Education Association member Tara is a product of Columbus City Schools. She graduated from Mifflin High School. She is the daughter of Terry Wiggs Johnson and Theodore W. Johnson who both graduated from Central State University in the late 60's. Both are also retired Columbus City School teachers. Coming from a household of educators, who graduated from Central State University, she followed in their footsteps and graduated from Central State University, but refused to go into education. She pursued a degree in Finance, instead. While at Central State she was very active. She was a member of the Finance and Investment Society, College of Business Student Advisory Council, Tour Guide, Resident Assistant, and a Student Ambassador. She worked for the Vice President for Finance as a student worker. She also continued to volunteer at Main Street Elementary School in Columbus when she came home during breaks. After graduation, Tara began to work at Central State in the finance department. She volunteered with the Student Affairs area and worked very closely with the Alumni Affairs office. After leaving Central State University, she went on to two other universities, Kent State University and Virginia Union University, to work. She decided it was time to get a master's degree, so she enrolled in Eastern Michigan, where she completed a Master's Program in Individualized Studies in Higher Education Administration and Finance. Upon graduating from Eastern Michigan, she decided to continue to pursue her career in Higher Education and worked at Virginia Community College Systems and Wright State University. While at Wright State University, she began to look for something different. Tara had done some volunteer work in her aunt's classroom and some substitute teaching for Columbus City Schools while getting her master's degree, so she decided to teach at the K-12 level. Tara went back to Central State University to get her licensure to teach in Social Studies at the high school level, saying she felt like high school students were closer to the college students she was used to working with for the past 20 years. Due to Covid, it took her longer than I had expected, but she completed my licensure program in Spring of 2021. Tara began teaching at Eastmoor Academy High School in the Fall of 2021. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a life member of Central State University Alumni Association. The SDGs (sustainable development goals) have become a huge focal point for many schools. With climate change, water pollution, and elimination of biodiversity effecting the entire planet, it makes complete sense. But how do we address these HUGE issues on a local level? In this podcast episode, I sit down with Margo LaPointe, director of award winning Seaview Learning, to hear how her students are addressing these issues through hands-on projects in Kingston, Massachussetts. Students are lowering their carbon footprint by co-constructing log cabins from damaged, indigenous trees; and improving water quality, by creating natural filtration systems in their local pond. They are infusing mandated curriculum and key 21st century skills through each home grown project. Learn how to design these kind of experiences, and build the local and global partnerships that ensure they fly! He began his foray into leadership as a student, serving as a Student Ambassador, on student government and as president of his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha. As an alumnus of the University he leads, Dr. Jackson said the expectations he places upon himself, and to some extent the expectations that others place on him, are colored through a blue and gold lens. His professional experiences working in state government, in corporate finance and as a member of the faculty and staff at Murray State have positioned him with a unique set of skills and perspective that have tremendous impact on his daily walk and decision-making as president. The relationships and friendships that Dr. Jackson has built and fostered over many years also create a unique level of access to the president's office for alumni who have essentially grown up professionally alongside him. You will also have the opportunity to hear first-hand what it has been like for Dr. Jackson to navigate our collective alma mater through one of the scariest and most difficult periods in our history and one of the most exciting milestones of our history, a global pandemic and our centennial celebration, in just the span of 2-3 years. A well-documented history buff and not one to dwell on the negative, Dr. Jackson has made it a priority to spend our 100th year in appreciation of those who first imagined what is now Murray State University, those who fought to turn that dream into a reality for this small spec of land in far western Kentucky and those who have led the institution through incredible challenges, exciting breakthroughs and tremendous global change to become the world-class regional public University we are today. That 100-year history has been laid out into a pictorial coffee table book which Dr. Jackson co-authored along with members of our University Libraries faculty, Dr. Jeff McLaughlin and Sarah Marie Owens. The Finest Place We Know: A Centennial History of Murray State University, 1922-2022 is currently available for presale at murraystate.edu/centennial. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and pick-up this fall. So, what is next for Murray State as we head into our next 100 years? Dr. Jackson lays out the “great transformation” that is currently underway on our campus and the things he sees as priorities moving forward into the next 10-20 years.
