Have you ever joined a sisterhood, mentorship, or spiritual empowerment group that promised deep connection—but over time, you started feeling more lost, more muted, and more disconnected from your real life?In this episode of The Illuminated Woman, I'm sharing a vulnerable look at how so many modern feminine empowerment circles masquerade as community but lead women into spiritual isolation and identity erosion. Rooted in Proverbs 18:1, I explore how these programs lure us in with language like “safe space,” “authenticity,” and “alignment,” yet often result in silence, sameness, and separation from truth.I share my personal experience of slowly losing my voice in these circles - adopting the group's vocabulary, dressing like the other women, even wearing the same symbolic necklace - all while believing I was finding my true self. But once I stepped out, I felt ungrounded, uncertain, and untethered. This episode is a wake-up call for the woman who has been craving real connection, but looking for it in the wrong places. It's for the one who knows something feels off, but hasn't had the words for it—until now. What You'll Hear in This Episode:Why Proverbs 18:1 is a powerful warning about isolation disguised as empowermentHow many women unknowingly give away their voice inside so-called sisterhood circlesThe Stepford Wives effect: why everyone starts sounding, dressing, and thinking the sameWhy these groups lead to spiritual and relational isolation—even from family and friendsWhat Biblical sisterhood actually looks like, and how it sharpens instead of silencesMy personal story of how I felt shaky and lost after leaving these groupsA prayer and reflection for reclaiming your God-given voice and communitySome journal questions to help you if you've been in - or are still in - these spacesIf this episode speaks to your journey—especially if you're recovering from false sisterhoods, New Age spaces, or performance-based spirituality—you're not alone. You're not too far gone. And you can rebuild, voice by voice, step by step, in the truth of God's Word. The Illuminated Connection Call is a free conversation where we talk heart to heart—no pressure, no agenda. I'd love to hear what's on your heart, where you are in your life and spiritual journey, and what you're sensing God may be stirring in you. Whether you're just beginning to question the New Age path, exploring Biblical truth, are already living a God-led life, or simply feeling lost and unsure—this space is for you. Madeline, Emilio, and Julian continue their seasonal cycle of Unorthodox Holiday Movies with a discussion about "Eyes Wide Shut," Stanley Kubrick's enigmatic final feature from 1999. Marking their first discussion about a Kubrick film, the trio take an appropriately late-at-night stroll journey through the many layers of EWS, including its touches of dream logic, commentary on class and wealth, and what the film has to say about observation and participation in potential acts of transgression, romantic and otherwise. Also along the way are nods to the film's admirable fake New York City, musician-specific considerations about gigs akin to one taken by character Nick Nightingale, and a shout-out to friend-of-the-show Jamie Homs, originally slated to be the guest for this episode. On this pre-Thanksgiving edition of the Dave Allen Show on 580 Live, Dave welcomes three West Virginia State University students — Madeline Bailey, Kylie Hanna, and Tabby — who lay out plans for January's WVSU Orchestra Masquerade Gala, complete with jazz performances, student ensembles, dinner, dancing, and a silent auction. The group also talks communications careers, music at State, and building campus engagement. Later, Dave shifts to the retail front with Tony the Taylor, who breaks down Small Business Saturday, Charleston shopping trends, online-to-store buying habits, mall decline, and why local retail continues to grow. A lively holiday-week show loaded with community updates, local business insights, and a whole lot of laughter.
This story happened about 15 years ago when I and my group were all inexperienced and living together in university. We played all kinds of systems and settings and loved to play long-haul homebrews. At the point this story takes place we had already played many systems together and now wanted a go at the gothic noir Vampire the Masquerade setting with a 50/50 split of brutal combat and political backdealing. Before we take our leave, don't forget to subscribe to our channel, All Things DnD. Who do we need to scan? Behind the constant considerations of irradiation risk and resource usage, there is nuance to be found. Parkinson's disease - being a clinical diagnosis - doesn't suggest a need for imaging, yet one case in this issue argues that should not be an absolute rule. Another paper brings in the context of a specific patient: does one man really need 50 CT scans in his life? There's also an unboxing of uveitis, diagnosis of Alexander disease in adults, and an exploration of connections between the microbiome and neurology. This being the fifth(!) Christmas podcast for editors Phil Smith and Geraint Fuller, they finish with the annual crossword and book club update, featuring hot cross buns and hummingbirds. Today, on the Hudson Mohawk Magazine, Jacob Boston brings us a Halloween special. First, Marrow and Sina Basila Hickey bring us their coverage from The Black Box: Not for the Faint of Art, a haunted house produced by The Arts Center of the Capital Region. Then, we go to the Troy Central Little League's “Halloween Safe Night.” Later on, Jody Cowan sits down with a group of young people to find out what they think about Halloween. After that, Sina Basila Hickey talks to Phyllis Galembo about her photographed series titled "Dressed for Thrills: 100 Years of Halloween Costumes and Masquerade." Finally, Brea Barthel takes you to the Lansingburgh Public Library, where you'll hear some recommendations for some "witchy" romance novels to read with your Halloween candy this year.
This month on Currently Playing, Daniel is joined by Jonathan (not that one) to talk about the intersectionality of video games and table top role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Penumbra City, Blades in the Dark, Vampire the Masquerade and more. And what better way to frame this TTRPG discussion than by discussing the video game Baldur's Gate 3 which uses Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition as the basis of the gameplay? Peppered throughout the chat are comparisons between "real" D&D and the videogame version, along with stories from table top campaigns and the campaign presented by Larian Studios. There are some spoilers for story beats in Acts 1 and 2 of Baldur's Gate 3, but since Jonathan hasn't finished Act 2 yet, we avoid Act 3 entirely.0:00:00 - Welcome to the Show, Jonathan!0:09:10 - What Are You Playing? “I had to watch it 3 or 4 times to finally get there…” Ahhh, the 80's. A time when people could actually afford to live, back when Taco Bell was both super cheap and equally delicious, horror movies were genuinely scary and often boasted incredibly “special” special effects, and terrified parents everywhere were completely “freaking the motherfrickin' frick out” over heavy metal and the ensuing “Satanic Panic” that followed. (Remember, we're talking about the 80's here…) “I kinda feel like Satan probably listens to Air Supply nonstop…or Gino Vanelli…” Not to worry though, because Tipper Gore was on the case, going out of her way to ensure that the future prosperity of heavy metal would be secure forever with the PMRC seal of approval (PARENTAL ADVISORY – EXPLICIT CONTENT) plastered on the cover of everything that would be deemed essential listening. Thanks to the diligent efforts and painstaking research of Tipper Gore and her Parents Music Resource Center, the PMRC lovingly crafted “The Filthy Fifteen” for American parents to ensure that their children would only be exposed to the finest audio artistry the heavy metal genre (and somehow, also Satan) had to offer. One of the bands included on that fateful list were the founders of black metal, VENOM (ironically, rated “O” … for “Obviously” …as in “Obviously, your kids should be listening to this!”). Hailing from probably the fanciest, most upper crust sounding city in all of England, Newcastle upon Tyne's 3-piece of evil VENOM came blasting out of the gates of hell with what would become the foundation for the black metal genre that would begin its ascent into heavy metal culture around the same time as thrash metal in the early 80's, with a sound combining the rawness of Motorhead, the darkness of Sabbath, and the speed of thrash with an imagery reminiscent of KISS if they were actually satanists. If Black Sabbath are ground zero for the formation of heavy metal as we know it, then VENOM is no doubt the Black Sabbath of the black metal genre. With a dark, detached creepiness that sounds like something recorded in an underground mausoleum, VENOM are the originators of extreme metal and were out in front, scaring the hell out of parents everywhere and delighting young and impressionable metalheads the world over. Happy Halloween everyone!!! It's time to celebrate spooky season the way we did back in the 80's, by going through your kids trick-or-treat plunder and picking out all of that “good candy”. Ex-Psychic Saved: Exposing Divination, New Age, and the Occult
Jenn Nizza sits down with Steven Bancarz—once the creator of one of the internet's biggest New Age platforms—to uncover the dark deception behind popular “spiritual” practices like yoga, meditation, and manifestation.Together, they expose how the enemy disguises darkness as light, weaving demonic philosophies into everyday culture through wellness trends, entertainment, and self-help spirituality. Steven shares surprising research, biblical insight, and his personal story of deliverance from the New Age movement—showing why Christians must discern what's truly behind these “harmless” practices.Whether you've dabbled in the New Age or simply want to understand how to protect your faith in an increasingly spiritualized culture, this episode will challenge and equip you to see light and darkness clearly through the lens of Scripture.Topics include:Why “spiritual but not religious” beliefs are rising among ChristiansThe hidden origins of yoga and its ties to Hindu worshipWhat science reveals about meditation's dark psychological sideHow Satan disguises destruction as “peace, healing, and light”Biblical discernment for modern spiritualityFOLLOW JENN NIZZA:- Follow Jenn on Instagram- Follow Jenn on TikTok- Follow Jenn on YouTube- Get Jenn's books

Matt and Joe sit down this week to discuss Vampire: The Masquerade: its lore, some of the source material that inspired it, and how it rippled vampires forward in pop culture. They break down what you need to know about the history of vampires in this setting, which goes back almost to the beginning of humans, so there's kind of a lot to discuss. Clans are the core concept to be aware of, as the demi-families Vampires belong to with certain shared traits. They also have Sects, which are political affiliations, adding to the mess of machinations that make up the Masquerade. There is ton to discuss, just from the sourcebooks, let alone the novels and video games. So let Matt and Joe get you up to speed before you play Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 which comes out this week.If you enjoy the show, please support us on Patreon, where you can get these episodes early and ad-free! Author and geopolitical researcher Shannon Rowan exposes the dangers of electromagnetic fields (EMFs), 5G, and transhumanism on Episode 219 of the Far Out with Faust podcast. After being personally injured by smart meters and wireless technology, Rowan became a leading voice on the hidden health effects of EMF exposure and the societal consequences of a world increasingly wired for control. She is the co-author, alongside past FOWF guest John Hamer, of Welcome to the Masquerade and the author of The Red Shoes: Our Devil's Dance with Technology, where she examines the link between censorship, transhumanism, and the erosion of human autonomy. In this far-reaching conversation, Faust and Rowan investigate how smart technology and 5G affect human biology, why “green energy” and electric vehicles are a corporate deception, and how predictive programming in media conditions society to accept dystopia. They trace the rise of the cybernetic control grid, the capture of regulatory agencies by corporate interests, and the practical steps individuals can take to mitigate exposure and reclaim sovereignty. In this episode:- The EMF Epidemic: How 5G and wireless tech trigger inflammation, nerve damage & chronic illness- The Green Energy Scam: Why electric vehicles and EV infrastructure devastate the environment- Programming the Masses: How Hollywood and media normalize transhumanist agendas- The Cybernetic Grid: The hidden motive behind wiring the planet for surveillance & mind control- The Red Shoes Warning: Technology's “devil's dance” with humanity — and how we can stop it- The Reset Agenda: From world fairs to Klaus Schwab's “new matrix” of control- Breaking Free: Simple, practical steps to reduce exposure and reclaim autonomy… and much more.
