The importance of speed of content! Start to get content out there. It's a data point so you can start to learn. Take on the identity of the learner. I'll wonder is the clip overproduced? Or is it to stripped down. Don't over think it. Just push it out and collect the data. Don't take stuff personally. I am just trying to learn. By speed of putting it out there I'm increasing the speed of how everything works. Pump the content out for speed! Once I quit worrying about what my two best friends thought the floodgates of content opened. There's creators out they're creating amazing content, by the way, that clearly takes a lot of work, a lot of effort, a lot of creativity. That's awesome. So I'm not Pooh poohing that at all. I think that I can't wait to have a team in place where I get to just create amazing stories, short form stories. I see him all over the place. Anyway, I'm going to talk about the importance of speed and documenting, not creating. So come right back after the interview and subscribe.Mischa Zvegintzov And that was come right back after the come right back after the intro, the intro. And if you're listening on in podcast land Hello, love you so glad you're a part of my journey with me and give me a follow. Give me a five star give me a shout out, like, let's let's chat, like send me something, or put a put a put a comment on there. If you're watching me right now Hey, thank you, I just it's awesome for me to, to be engaging on, you know, YouTube land. And in really being committed to that it's been a lot of fun. So subscribe. I think it's right down there. And then give me a comment give me a hello and send me an email my emails in his in the show notes. And quickly I use the Shure MV 88 To record this stuff while I'm out walking. super powerful. And I use been using the sheer MV88+ plus four little video little more video flexibility. Anyway, so the speed of content. What's really, I think important about documenting and not creating, or what's helped me so much in the beginning of my process here is that trying to get into document don't create and just start getting content out there start getting content out there is it's a data, it's a data point, so you can start to learn. What's her name? Rachel Peterson, I think it is her YouTube channel. I was watching her.Mischa Zvegintzov There's a neighbor and their dog who's going to talk louder. Who's going to talk louder? He is. There's somebody else over there too. I thought I'd found the quiet zone. total distraction.Mischa Zvegintzov Speed of content learning. I did I want to talk about and I've talked about this before. Maybe not on an episode, but the idea of the learner, I can take on the identity of the learner. I'm learning if you can think that I'm learning this is helping me right now I'm learning. So I don't overthink these clips that I'm doing. I'm putting out a ton of clips. And so I'm trying to learn how to tell a story with clips and over an arc of four to five to seven clips, right. As well as learn how to tell a story with one short clip as well. But my so I've got two things going on main one is how to tell the arc of a story to create an an end action with five out to seven short reels, tic TOCs you get what I'm saying? And so on some of the clips I've like over produced and with text and subtitles and graphics and Chinese stuff. And I start to wonder, Should I be putting that on there? Should I be putting that on there? Sometimes I'm like, I want to do it stripped down, should I strip them down? And I start to worry about like, Well what if nobody looks because I stripped them down or what if nobody looks because they're overproduced or what if what if what if and it's like don't overthink it start putting some out there that have almost no graphical call to action or graphical engagement other than other than the value of the video itself if that makes sense. What's another way you could say it other than somebody is engaged because they see who's being interviewed or what have you some of them it's like I you know put brain a brain on there on one and told the whole story of how great the lady is or this or that right and and I could get hung up on Should I put that out? How should I put it out? And coincidentally I watched this Tom bill you video Hey Tom bill you I hope you watch when they use subscribe to widget. Although Tom I will say this Tom's all about outwork everybody. I put in 16 hours a day. I'm too old for that. I will not put in 16 hours a day. I'm sorry. I'm not, I'm not buying in on that.Mischa Zvegintzov I've tried it, I did it in the mortgage days, made tons of money. And now I'm like, can I build the same thing, but with whose and with? I don't know, with? Yeah, just trust that the right people will help. Help will manifest in my life. It's I keep open to it, to support me to create, to create the same stuff. smarter, not harder, maybe I don't know, a nothing wrong with working hard, especially if you like what you're doing. But anyway, Tom, the learner. So Tom's got this idea take on the identity of the learner. And that, then you don't need to take stuff personally. You're like, I'm just trying to learn. I'm learning. I'm learning all the time. So I'm testing. I'm throwing stuff out there and seeing and seeing what the results are, and learning. And sounds like yeah, I'm just learning. Learning. I'm learning how to sell one to many. I'm learning how to engage. I'm learning on video, right? And you get to see me. So I'm learning. And I'm learning. I am literally learning to get stuff. So I'm like, oh, yeah, don't overthink test, throw it out there, test, throw it out there, test, throw it out there, over produce sub under produce some hashtags, some don't hashtag others, one hashtag on one, no hashtag on another, just like, throw it out there, throw it out there, throw it out there, and try and create this large data set. To see what works, what doesn't. So that's one thing.Mischa Zvegintzov And then the other thing is that by speed of putting it out there, I'm learning and getting better and more efficient. At the I know, I'm documenting, but at the creation process, right, like learning the functionality of all the platforms on creating the workflow, right workflow is very important. But I'm getting better at it. I'm learning I'm learning I'm learning. So I'm like, oh, yeah, this is how the platform works. This is how the editing stuff works. This is how all this stuff works. And I'm not at Russell Brunson stage yet, yet, where I have a massive team to help me create this. And God bless Russell man, he talks about it all the time. He's like, he puts stuff in perspective, I mean, his high end coaching group, the two comma club X, super fun, totally recommend it to anybody. You want to speed up your process, jump in this coaching group. But he's like, Hey, don't compare yourself to me. I've got a company of 400 people. I've got teams of people helping me do this stuff. But he does remind us that I started where you are, right, one day at a time, one day at a time. And so I'm, I'm like, get speed of content to learn.Mischa Zvegintzov That's the point of it. Create, document, don't create, pump the content out for speed, and I'm going to leave you for speed of learning and creating your dataset. I have one last thought for you. And this is perhaps my favorite thought, which I'll do a whole nother episode on. As soon as I stopped worrying about what my two best friends thought. As soon as I stopped worrying about what my two best friends thought. The floodgates opened up my creativity in my willingness to pump content out there. I was like, Yeah, I don't care what they think anymore. I'm tired of their opinions. I'm going full bore. And stop worrying about what your best friends think. And take action. Alright, have a good day. That's it.
Document don't create is taking on a lot of new meaning for me. I'm currently recording on the iPhone 13Pro and the Shure MV 88. I recently recorded an interview on the fly with Tom Kabbash the owner of https://saunteyewear.com/. I used the Shure MV 88+ and I give some of the quick functional differences of the MV 88+. Documenting the process of the tools I'm using is an example of documenting not creating. Use Calendly to schedule everything. IT IS EFFICIENT! And I have an inspired way to use it. I open the loop on the speed of recording.Administrative: (See episode transcript below)WATCH this episode here: Table Rush Talk Show.Listen on the go at http://TableRush.net. Yes, it is recording. Good to see. Oh my gosh, first off, I used well, I'm going to talk about document, don't create, document don't create, and it's actually taking on a lot of new meaning for me. A lot of it's very powerful. The meaning of that, in regards to avatar in regards to how it's opening up the floodgates of being able to, to put out content, or to have content. I was gonna say, yeah, that's it. So that's what I'm going to talk about. Enjoy the intro.Mischa Zvegintzov Okay, first off, I have the MV 88 plus, which is different than the MV 88. Both sure mics. And this has to do with documenting and not creating. So hang in there with me, I'm also doing a time check, as well. So I need to hit X on this to see how we are cool. I'm recording this by the way on an iPhone 13 Pro. And I have a Shure MV 88. mic plugged into it. And then I record on the motive app. That's the sure app, the mobile mobile recording app. And it's very powerful. It works super good. They can pick up a little bit of wind. And there it does pick up the extraneous surrounding noises or there can be that has that. Right? Definitely not as clean as being in the studio. But I did. So I had an opportunity to use the MV 88 plus, which is the plus is that's for has the Android connection. So the USB, C and the micro USB, I think it is, but I have them both the US. The MV88 plus is another mobile mic. But I use it with a cord. And I use it on an interview is what I'm trying to say. So it gives you more flexibility to point at places off of your phone because it's got a cord.Mischa Zvegintzov But I recorded an on the fly interview with a guy, Tom Kabbash. Who is the creator of sont eyewear. Go to https://saunteyewear.com/. But he is making the coolest 3d printed eyewear created this whole manufacturing manufacturing process. It's awesome. But I did this little off the cuff interview with him. Use the MV 88 plus. And it came out awesome. The sound was so good. Man, I'm so glad I've got that mic in my arsenal. And the MV 88 Plus kit, I think is $199. You can go into the show notes. Subscribe here, obviously. But go into the show notes. The link the link for the MV 88 + is in in the show notes. So get one because it's awesome.Mischa Zvegintzov Document don't create so that's a that's an idea of document don't create right there. What I'm talking to you about right now is the me documenting the process of of what I'm learning and using the tools that I'm learning and things like that. So how about that, right? I'm like, Hey, wait a minute. Like there's so many ways to document what I'm up to.Mischa Zvegintzov I'm repurposing lots of interviews right now. Lots of contents, lots of clips. I'm in the habit of recording everything. I just record everything. So if I'm on Zoom, I hit record. I'm asking people this might be repurposed, just so you know, is it okay? A lot of times they say yes. Sometimes they're like screen freeze their faces turn white asked me before you do it, which is effectively? I don't know, doesn't matter. I know who's got time for all that. Either you're on board or not, if it's a Yes, awesome if it's no awesome as well. But I don't have time to check, which also leads me to have this great idea of, again, document, I'm documenting, I'm documenting the process. Mischa Zvegintzov I use Calendly to schedule as much as I can, even if it's coffee with friends, like let's put it on the calendar. It's efficient, reduces a lot of the back and forth, but Calendly I use Calendly to set up zoom calls, and you can set up automations. So what I was going to do is put it put the disclaimer of you're giving me permission to record this zoom call into the calendar in the end of the calendar Calendly. Setup, IE as soon as you hit confirm at that confirm page, it's saying By the way, you're agreeing that at time of interview, I'm free to use whatever I record. I thought that's rather inspired. Now I just need to implement that. I'm getting close to needing a VA people I'm getting close to needing a VA what was the other thing I was gonna say? I'll tell you this if you hit pause, or stop on the on this app on the motive app and you're recording video, it stops the video and starts a new video. So I'm being wary. I'm being wary of it. I've just hitting pause totally lost my thoughts. God it's a beautiful day where I live is awesome. If you love the sun, and 70 degree weatherMischa Zvegintzov Okay, I'm back with document don't create, I realize the other reason I don't like to hit stop on the video motive, because then it restarts the time too. So I lose track of the time. batch recording, I'm trying to keep my videos at eight minutes. So I'm going to stop this one and look for part two, where I'm going to talk more about documenting and not creating, which helps you get the content out. And I'm going to talk about why that's important, I think to get the content out that's a great open loop there. So document not creating and the importance of speed of content and wanting to get a lot of content out. Alright, cool. Look for Episode Two in this regard. And subscribe. Alright, peace out

How much longer can I keep teasing the podcast name change to Table Rush! Not much longer I hope. It is eminent. I talk about the journey to this point and the refining of the Perfect Customer. What message I want to bring. Etc. And just a bit reflective on the path to this point. Oh my God. There's so many distractions right now. cars everywhere. I walking a different route and there's so many people. it's Halloween ish. people in costumes skateboarders. people with kids dressed up their dogs dressed up. A whole pack of 30 somethings just skateboarded by dressed up as everything from... It's all ladies so from cowboys dressed up as males to bunnies to everything in between. all on skateboards some of them pushing kids. but oh my goodness, and I'm just having bouts of insecurity as I'm walking with my phone and my MV88 mic recording. Anyhow talk about messy action but this thought is so top of mind for me that I've just got to express it. And and basically it's that you know, The original podcast The Accelerated Path To Peace podcast you know, although I'm changing the name and doing a rebrand to Table Rush. Table Rush masterclass. that the original accelerated path to peace podcast was indeed you know, documenting, documenting of my, of my entrepreneurial journey, the starting of the podcast, just to add a year ago. You know, hitting a year ago, this actually could be on the actual year anniversary. But, you know, step one, define an audience or your, your, you know, your dream customer.Mischa Zvegintzov 02:14So I worked up a rudimentary dream customer to get into the game who I thought it was, and that was the, perhaps, you know, brokenhearted, divorce dad? And how do we, how do we help that person get back on track? Or what when they're ready, you know, they're like, Alright, I'm done suffering. And being in the mire. So, let's, let's break through and in charge forward. and, and then, you know, the dream 100 putting together that list of 100 people who, who I want to work with in that regard. So there was so many people that helped me along the way with meditation, yoga, spiritual practices, energy work, writing, journaling, you know. Kyle Cease was in there such a major influence on me. And, you know, Rod Stryker, and his, his ideas, and the, the Dharma code, you know, your life mission statement. and, and working on all that stuff, and really going deep with meditation and writing and journaling and self growth. and and hunkering down you know, and, anyhow. so all those people within all those modalities, and then really having my mind open to, well, there's those modalities that Misha used. And there's the, you know, recovery framework that's within athletes been such a big part of my life for 30 years, 35 years, on my whole life, really, because my parents were trying to get sober in my youth, as well. So deep roots there, but that there's all these other modalities that once I opened my mind, just a little, it was like, wow, there's all this cool stuff out there cool ways to calm your mind to find center to tap into, you know, to tap into your inspiration. and and, you know, the tools of a Good Life Summit came out of that as I started interviewing all these amazing people and all these things. and all that's a big part of the entrepreneurial journey, right? Mischa trying to find what he's good at. How can Mischa help? Who is that person that Mischa can help?Mischa Zvegintzov 04:58And then, you know, bring entrepreneurship into that which I love entrepreneurship and have my whole life and, and it's a great my spirituality absolutely expresses itself through my entrepreneurship. And so although, you know, there's some changes ahead that hopefully everybody will stay with me with and enjoy and like and prosper in, but perhaps not I totally understand it. I am just trying to say that we're not trying to say I am saying that... you know, the first 360 episodes have been about my entrepreneurial journey, and my struggles with new ideas, new concepts, learning new things. And the online world. I've been so offline. For the last five years, as I've dug into yoga, and all that stuff, like, I was basically non existent on the social media and really just digging deep on the internal work. So this is like a fast forward process for me. Or was that is that the right word? Fast forward? I don't know, I think you understand what I'm saying. But just talking about the learning and things I'm trying to do to grow an audience that, you know, building summits, all these things. And it's interesting, because I really was relatively tech savvy. You know, in my younger years, that's normal for a lot of adults, actually, we sort of are super tech savvy and then we turn into the parents who aren't tech savvy, perhaps. And I've definitely experienced some of that. But still am tech savvy. I love the direct response marketing. I thrived within that, and the mortgage business for 15 years, and creating flyers and mailing lists and mailing to them and then, you know, collecting emails and nurturing my old clients with email campaigns, and then being available when they needed help.Mischa Zvegintzov 07:18And, and so this is very much, Mischa 2.0. And, you know, the, the, the emergence of that and, and I hope people are learning and enjoying the ride with me, and I'm doing my best to add value. And I just, I guess, maybe this in an appreciation for where I am right now. and how some things and ideas are coalescing, and coming together. and that although you know, it's a, it's a big shift in branding and podcast name, that it's exciting for me because it's going to be more focused. I'm dialing in the focus, right, the original, you know, thesis for The Accelerated Path To Peace was very broad, very broad, you know, a wide net. and, but very much about documenting my entrepreneurial journey, trying to be of service trying to learn how to craft my skills to bring the market and an entrepreneur way. and then hopefully, hopefully, inspire other people to do the same. And just have fun too. I'm big about having fun these days. You know, what, I do this for free and for fun? Yes, I would. And it turns out I am, because I am not at profitability yet. I'm trying. I'm working hard. But hopefully that's around the corner at some point. And anyway, I I just I'm just very excited to continue to talk in a more focused way about my entrepreneurial journey. about the skills and tools and frameworks and systems that I'm creating to help people. And that you get to come along with me and yeah, that's what I've got. I think that's enough. So So to recap, you know, the, The Accelerated Path To Peace podcast was very much about my entrepreneurial journey, can literally hear it almost from the beginning 360 episodes ago to where I am now today. And this is just a refinement of that focus of that and, and so much of the musings again won't be the same. But hopefully there'll be more focused and more useful and more... you know, I'll have... again as I've said... what I'm good at, I'll be able to you know, turn into products to help people. So there we go enough out to me. Thank you for listening. The change to the new podcasts name. Table Rush is eminent. Hopefully it will not be a surprise for you when that happens. All right, love to all.
First a quick pitch for you to BUY the SHURE MV88 MIC! And then the rest of the story of Waylon and his homework. That was hitting bottom for me with my remaining bits of anger. I couldn't yell at him anymore over homework. If I lost that edge, how was I going to be able to have success at work? I leaned on that aggressive side. Well, if you get yourself the Shure MV88 mic, and are willing to record when you're driving, or you're walking, or I don't know, when you have alone time, I will get off my soapbox.Mischa Zvegintzov 01:08 This episode, I'm going to talk about the rest of the story with... I was just editing up and putting the episodes on where I was talking about anger. That like subversive, covert anger that can be hiding within us, causing us issues in our lives. So I was going to talk the rest of the story about that. And specifically, the rest of the story in regards to Waylon and the homework. Right, like that was hitting bottom for me with some of that remaining. You know, anger, demand for respect, that kind of stuff where the punishment didn't fit the crime. And I got tired of overreacting at my kids, for seemingly, you know, in hindsight, irrelevant stuff. And and I had said, you know, it was when Waylon was, I had told him, and I remember it clear as a day. I was having the conversation with him yet again. Waylon, I will not overreact. I will help you get your homework done. I won't fight with you. Like, there won't be tears. And one final time. It happened again. I just want a hug. By the way, that was the second or third time that he we had been through that scenario where he was like, just give me a hug, like Stop yelling, stop freaking out effectively. Or, like, I need a hug. You know, I need some love here. And I looking back on that. God bless him for being willing to ask for that. And also, God bless me for being willing in that moment to have that jolt me out of the, you know, the ANGRY DAD mode in regards to homework. and to just like, be like, Yeah, you know what, okay, it's okay. I love you. It's okay. We don't have to fight anymore. That's really what it was right?Mischa Zvegintzov 03:46 Thank God, I can laugh about it now. Thank God, I could laugh about it now. And him too. It's funny, because I was telling him the story. So there's two parts of the rest of the story. First part of the rest of the story. And this is good. And it's really juicy. Hold on one second. I'm going across some traffic. Alright, and survived. Wow. People were coming in hot. No quarter. So you know, I had moved this girlfriend in, we'd bought a house together, actually. And she thought I was wonderful. And I am wonderful. But at the time, she's like, Oh, this man's wonderful, right? So I move her in, we buy this house. And then I start helping Waylon with his homework when we're having family time. And her and her two daughters are around and she sees the dark side of the meesh come out. And she's like, whoa, like, whoa. And I remember that actually. That was that that that time that look of like, of like, she was like, I've never seen this side of you. Right. And usually it didn't come out for a couple of homework, or customer service phone calls, if I had to call the call tree, call the bank or something. And I'm sure it came out other ways as well with towards employees who I had a team at the time, or somewhere around there. But anyway, you get what I'm saying. And I was like, I had the stark awareness that what many people saw of me, on the outside world, that part of me did not match up with what was happening behind closed doors. I felt like, right, like, this woman who loved me, and moved in with me, was surprised when she saw that, which to me meant that if anybody else in the outside world of my relationships, friends would see that, that would be like, Well, wait a minute. Like, there's a dark side there, you know. And, and, yeah, so I was telling the story to somebody today, and I finally for whatever reason had the vulnerability or the memory to be like, oh, yeah, well, the rest of the story is, is this girl moved in with me? And she kind of was like, Oh, shit, right. Like, I've never seen the side of him.Mischa Zvegintzov 06:40 Anyway, I maybe may sound a little bit melodramatic and, and all that. But that was the catalyst for Misha wanting to change, and, like, shed that part of me. And, you know, that was a part of me, that gave me an edge at work. And I needed to let it go. And I was like, Damn, if I lose that edge, that sort of aggressive edge, how am I gonna find success? And as I said that right now, you know, that's what's that's kind of what's happening. I'm on learning how to find success. On the other side of that. sustained financial success. Again, it's a bit melodramatic, but I think you get what I'm saying.Mischa Zvegintzov 07:30 As I'm someone I know, just said hi. As often happens, um, he's like, Hey, Robert Plant, I want your autograph. Because my hair is in full Robert Plant mode right now.Mischa Zvegintzov 07:44 So yeah, I get to bring my new my new awareness, a, and a different motivation into the business world as I'm creating business stuff. Okay. The second point was that I was talking to Whalen, and I was writing out an avatar. Right? We all want to know our perfect customer. So we can visualize that and market to that and who we feel like we can help the best who we want to help. So it's win win for everybody. And I had written down smart, written down smart. I seem to be no judgment here. Like maybe experience is a better word. But whatever smart, I'd written down smart on my perfect person, right smart, along with some other things. And I was showing Waylon, and I'm like, hey, we'll check out the perfect avatar. And he was he was laughing and giggling about it is like, Oh, you have a smart he goes, Yeah, I remember when you used to yell at me. He goes, That makes a lot of sense about the homework, because that was that was not smart. And I was like, Oh my God, it was so funny. The way he related it. He was like, he's like, yeah, man, you would you were frustrated because I couldn't do it at the level that you wanted me to yet. And I was like, oh, yeah, that's a great way to frame it Waylon. I was like son of a gun. You're right. Like, part of my frustration was that we Yeah, was that you weren't grasping it? Like I wanted you to and that. In hindsight, looking back on a lot of my interactions is... I do better when someone's more experienced. How's that? Or smart, whatever. Feel like I'm digging a deep deep hole. May this episode never see the light of day.Mischa Zvegintzov 10:05 Alright that's the soccer families love to all well actually the wrap up so we I told you the rest of the story about my dark realization... the dark day when I realized oh yeah I need to change and have my outside world match up with behind closed doors world. and then the bits about Waylon and smart the smart avatar anyway, I'm done hole is dug deep enough bye.

I better start recording quick. I'm looking at the battery power on my phone and it says 26. And I'm actually trying recording with a Motiv video app. It turns out there's a Motiv video app. So I have this portable mic, the Shure MV88 for an apple, the MV88+ for um, Android. You can go to my show notes, click the link and support my efforts. If you're going to get one of those mic by purchasing through my, um, through my link, I am an Amazon affiliate. You'll get the same great price that Amazon has to offer. You just will be supporting me and my efforts. So if you're going to buy a mic, grab one of those two, they are the best. I have them both. Use them for my eye pads on my Mac's or your Wintel or whatever it is. Um, I think Wintel just gave away my age. Do they even say Wintel? Tell anymore? Um, anyhow, I needed to pull out the mic. I needed to start recording. I was just at Funnel Hacking Live Funnel Hacking Live. You can go to www.funnelhackinglive.com/2022 and get tickets for Funnel Hacking Live 2022 October in Orlando, Florida. I just got done. It was awesome. It was epic. Dare I say, life-changing dare I say life-changing there. Um, there as in not they are, but they're.Mischa Z: 02:52 Oh my gosh. I can't tell you how many thoughts I have going through my mind right now. Um, I did not record. I was there from Tuesday. I jumped on a plane Tuesday, September 21st, 2021. And got home Sunday, the 26th, September, 2021 and did not record one episode. And, um, it's full on at that Funnel Hacking Live so full on, I mean, all day, every day. What there's 2,500 people there live. 2000 people, 3000 people, um, that, uh, zoomed in. It was sold out, which is pretty crazy given the environment. I am Vaxxed. This is not to say whether that's good, bad, whatever, alls I know I was inspired to go. I did. And, uh, pretty cool because, oh gosh, let's see. Why was it cool? One thing is that, you know, conference live conferences, at least in the moment in America, um, have an opportunity to come back and gosh, how powerful are they so powerful to be in that energy and that love in that community. Funnel hackers, where we are...I'm going to say, I am part of the family.Mischa Z: 04:27 I am all in. The Kool-Aid you see that big jug of Kool-Aid squarely on the table in front of you. I am drinking that Kool-Aid oh, yes, I am. I am being indoctrinated into the system and thank God. Um, where, where do I want to go with this? Um, where was I going with all this I'm indoctrinated into the, um, the community, the Funnel Hacking Live community. As a matter of fact, I sort of went backwards into it though. I started with the high end coaching program, the Two Comma Club X, which is like expensive entry into it. So glad I did it still, it will be re-upping of course, as I record this. Um, but it is a financial commitment and my heart pulled me to it. I signed up, this is back in actually September of last year, um, probably a year ago to the date as I record this, which is pretty awesome. Morning. Um, holy mackerel, you know, I just have a new vision of how I can of service to the world within this community. Um, there was one of the big moments was as I was flying there.Mischa Z: 06:13 I super cool, actually on the airplane, I wrote the email that went out to my email list. Hello, any of my beautiful email list listeners. I just thought it was so cool. I bought my iPad so I could do all this. I bought an iPad that iPad Air 4. I'll be sure to get that link up on the, um, on, uh, on, uh, my Amazon, uh, page or on my, uh, that link in the show notes. And again, please support me, right? Like part of this whole thing is, uh, is, uh, you know, we, we, uh. It's a labor of love for me. And, um, anything you can do to support that, um, I'm asking you, I, I, whatever, just... I'm and part of that as I go sideways again, is that I've really realizing how can I support other people and, and how can I click on their affiliate links and buy through their, through their channels?Mischa Z: 07:26 Cause at, for a time I would have a propensity to want to go direct, but people are putting their spirit into efforts and why would I feel the need to bypass them? I don't anymore. And I see it now, I got a friend who makes sunglasses and, um, I can get a discount from him. I'm sure. Actually not. I'm sure I have in the past, he makes incredible 3 D printed sunglasses. They're amazing. And they're made with, um, out of castor bean oil. So castor beans. Like they grow, it's a weed, at least in Encinitas, it's a weed and they grow. So you can make 3 D printed goods out of weed beans that are amazing and beautiful and functional. And you're not perhaps adding to the, um, the fossil fuel dilemma. Wow! I've got so many paths going. So I'm flying on the plane.Mischa Z: 08:46 I believe I know how I'm supposed to serve my audience. You know, I, I went through this major, uh, people in my life where I quit my career and, uh, you know, did this amazing work, um, a big chunk of it was with Kyle cease. Kyle Cease has what's called the Entrepreneurial Journey. No, it's the Complete Journey. He also has the Entrepreneurial Shift. I did them both, but the first big, big, big shift for me and some of my darkest moments of desperation when I was willing finally, to be open to some outside help was I dove into Kyle Cease's program, did his Complete, what's called the Complete Journey. I encourage anyone to go do it. That is not an affiliate link for me, but Google Kyle Cease's Complete Journey. Don't think buy, buy it. Anyhow, I did that. And, uh, it, it was a major transformation for me. It was a catalyst to me, healing relationships with my children. And I had this major, massive moment at the FHL 2021, where I just was where Tony Robbins was speaking. And he had us do this exercise, gratitude exercise. And I just realized how healed those relationships are with my two boys Cooper and Waylon who are 18 and 20. Love you boys. Um, like this, this, I was sobbing with gratitude.Mischa Z: 10:33 Two guys were there with me. I mean, there were thousands of people there. It was mayhem. And, um, and, uh, who was it? It was Rick, Rich Hayhurst. He's amazing. Google him and James Mays. James Mays owns a music school that a School Of Rock was based on, uh, James, sorry to call you out. Right. Cause well, but both amazing gentlemen, you should Google them and take advantage of their services. So Rick helps with, uh, internet marketing and, uh, he's got a company called Blitz Blitz B. Anyway, I just say that because I I'm just checking time. All right. I'm going to have a part to, uh, I'm just saying that because listen for part two and I will continue the story love to all, that's what we call an open loop. Okay. Peace out. Thank you.
I dive deep on the "self righteous agenda". And what does that mean. And examples of a self righteous agenda. A little prayer to help you work through it. And Perhaps I don't know what you need to go through to get to where you need to be.Administrative: (See episode transcript below)Check out the Tools For A Good Life Summit here: Virtually and FOR FREE https://bit.ly/ToolsForAGoodLifeSummitStart podcasting! If you made it this far and listen to all five...yea! If not, and you've just listened to a few, or this is your first one, hopefully you will grab the nugget that can propel you forward to a less covertly, anger, anger life. And B hopefully you've gone and purchased the sure. MV88 mic. So you can record your amazing thoughts on both audio and video on your iPhone with the lightning connector. Um, and there's the Shure MV88+ plus that you can also get, which I also have, which allows for non lightning connectors. So nobody has an excuse. I should add the link for the MBA plus in the show notes.Mischa Z: 00:56 So yes, I had covert and subversive anger issues that I was in denial about, and or that I justified. Turns out I was raising my voice. And yes, that can be construed as anger and not just Mischa being passionate about his idea. And perhaps the seething silent treatment is just as inappropriate. And that perhaps imposing my will in an intimidating way, uh, is perhaps an anger issue as well. And, uh, it can be very subtle. It can be very subtle. We can strip away more and more of those habits. I'll speak for me. I can, but then perhaps I still had some, it culminated in me with me, tired of making false promises to my son Waylon when he was nine years old. And, uh, and uh, I was tired of telling him that next time I won't yell at you to what would turn out to be to the point of tears the next time we do homework?Mischa Z: 02:22 And I was like, yeah, this does not feel good anymore. Dad, learned, dad needs to learn how to bring love in every situation. If your child is not going to get his homework done, as you like anyway, perhaps why do we need to have the peak, um, trauma experience. Or tumultuous experience and then go to love and we play can't we just start with love, and perhaps the will get you to the outcome you want. And I would say that works with arguments with your spouse. Arguments, with a relative arguments, with a friend. Arguments, with the political figures that you can't even talk to. Arguments with people, places and things.Mischa Z: 03:29 So anger is as a result of fear, anger manifests from fear. What was Mischa fearful of? I'm going to cut to the chase and just say Mischa was fearful of how he was going to look as a parent, A. That was one. If Waylon not doing good in school. I will be perceived as a poor parent. If Waylon doesn't have the proper hobbies, I will be perceived as a poor parent. I could go on and on down the list. We could move that on further to, you know. Selfishly Mischa being...selfish...Mischa has fear of feeling or seeing his son in an uncomfortable situation. What if Waylon, uh, hurts himself? Well, I don't want him to hurt himself. That can be a righteous agenda, a self-righteous agenda, but perhaps I just don't want to have to deal with the ramifications of my son hurting himself. So maybe I yell in a situation where I don't need to, or I'm over-protective. I hope that's a valid example. I think it can be, in some cases it can be. What are other examples you think I'd have them written down? Um, I don't want to be financially responsible for my kids longer than I need to.Mischa Z: 05:26 How about another one? I don't think I had a lot of this, but perhaps some people do or perhaps it's more sneaky than I think. But what if I fail in life and have no reserves when I'm old and then neither do my kids. So they cannot be supportive of me, ironically, if I'm yelling at them all the time, excuse my language, but let's drive that point home. Perhaps they're not going to be around when I'm older anyway,Speaker 2: 05:57 So it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy, but there's plenty of stuff. Plenty of stuff where it's like, it's, Mischa worried about the perception of the world towards me. It's me worried about what am I going to have to do longer than I want to? Is they're going to be fiscal responsibilities longer than I want to? Am I going to have to take care of them longer than I want to? Is it going to affect my day? I can't go watch TV because Waylon is not getting his homework done and the timely manner that I want to. So I'm going to miss my favorite recorded show.Speaker 2: 06:45 How ironic is that? Most stuff is streamable. Back then it wasn't quite as much, but it's just a funny thought. I'm sure DVR was available back then. And I probably had it, but you get the point, the demand for respect as well. That's just such a funny thing. So once I started digging deep into that, once I started meditating or contemplating those ideas, and once I started seeing the level of my selfishness under the guise of a righteous agenda. And what do I mean when I say righteous agenda? What I mean is supposedly I want the best for you. I want the best for you. And that's how I justify me being...Practicing my subversive and covert anger, or me being a prick or me being passionate about a subject or an idea. Oh my goodness. So all sorts of fun, fun tips and tricks I have learned to help me be a much more loving chill in the moment, like trusting in God, friend, parent, boyfriend, citizen of the world. Um, learned how to bring love in most situations.Speaker 2: 08:35 Um, and here's, here's, here's one of my best things that came to me. And you gotta be willing to try it. And I encourage you to try it. Say this prayer God, and I know you've heard me say it before, but I'm gonna say it again. How can I best support your path for X person setting aside my own selfish wants and desires? God, how can I support your path for X setting aside my own selfish wants and desires? Because often times so often it's my own skewed, selfish, wants, and desires that that fuel an, uh, a, a situation like that. And I'm gonna leave you with this thought and one proof of concept. So, um, the thought is perhaps I don't know what somebody needs to go to go through to get to where they need to be. Perhaps I don't know what you need to go through to get to where you need to be.Speaker 2: 09:56 Like the universe does, perhaps me in my infinite intelligence, God forbid, I don't know. That was the mailman accelerating by and this one day, my son Cooper, who fancied me when I was, when my A type self was more, was more, more, more prevalent. Um, he, he says to me, "dad, like, where does that side of you go?" And I was like, are you sure you want that side to come back? Like, isn't it aren't, isn't it a much more calm, soothing, nurturing, chill place to be, uh, with me these days. And he was like, yeah, yes it is. And then of course I've had so many people over the years recently. I cannot tell you how many, I would throw some names out there, but that are just like, wow, you are a different person in such a beautiful way. All right, peace out. Have yourselves a great day.
I finally get to the goods. A discussion on how I thought I didn't have any anger issues. But then I had that start realization that I did have some issues that were subversive to my relationships. And how that manifested and what that looked like. Don't mind the mic recommendation. How I came to a point in my life and realized that I did indeed have covert anger issues. Meaning they were covert to my awareness. I justified them in all sorts of ways. They were subversive. If you listened to the previous parts one and two, you also heard me say subversive. I like that word as well. Like they were subversive to my, the health of my personal relationships and the short term. In hindsight working it out has made my long-term relationships better. Anyhow, so covert and subversive anger and how, and back in those days, I would have sworn that I did not have anger issues and that would have sworn that I was not yelling at you. I was just passionately stating my case. Or, or passionately encouraging you to change your behavior or to see things differently, or to see things my way or to, uh, whatever, to try and get people, places and things to act as I wanted. And then of course the pain got great enough. The pain in my relationships became great enough that I was like, yeah, I need to do things differently. And then I'm going to tell you about some steps that I took. Some of the results. And you know, some fun social proof. But before I get to that, I'm going to divert for one second, which, you know, if you've been listening, I can do, I will definitely divert.Mischa Z: 02:26 One of my favorite things to do is walk, live to get out and walk. Yes. Get out and walk so good for me. And then another thing I love doing is podcasting. I, most of the time, love letting it rip recording an episode, you know, growing in this process. And I just wanted to say that I'm getting to that right now. I'm getting to do two things that I love. One is to walk and one is to let it rip for a podcast episode. And what do I use to do that? My Shure MV 88, Mike, which has a lightening adapter. So I use it with my iPhone. I was not intending this to be a, um, a sales pitch to you, but nonetheless, here we go. If you would like to walk and record, take messy action for your podcast or also for your YouTube channel, because the motive and MV88 now has the integrated software for video for your iPhone camera. So for a while, it just worked for audio, but now there is the motive audio app, as well as the motive video app.Mischa Z: 04:04 So CLO go to my show notes, click on the link where you can buy the sure. And V 88, Mike, and perhaps have fun with podcasting, YouTube channeling recording and using the mic to ensure on an awesome price range, have the best available audio as well as super easy functionality. Okay. For those of you who don't care about all that, I'm very sorry. Thank you for listening. Hopefully you were using the fast forward button. So I really started noticing, well, I would hear people say, well, people specifically my wife at the time, you're angry and I'm like, I am not angry. You are angry. Oh no, I am not angry. And you know, I looked at it on a scale. I'm not angry as my mother, as I thought my mother was. I'm not angry as I thought my father was, or I could look out into the public and be like, I'm not angry as them.Mischa Z: 05:26 I am not, you know, physically abusive. That was the, that's the easy one. I don't have anger issues. I'm not fighting. You know, I'm not fisticuffs or I'm not pushing people physically. Like putting my, you know, shutting someone or, you know, you know, you know, beating my kids or, and I have, sorry, I'm even saving these sorts of things. It just sounds so aggressive or beating my wife. Right. And God bless you if that is manifesting in your life, I hope it sorts itself out. Um, but anyway, you know, for me it was clear that yes, I raised my voice a lot. Or, you know, I could be intimidating as a physical presence, six two, I can have a loud, booming voice. I can seethe with anger. I'm very effective at the silent treatment. Which the silent treatment, like going deep within, in a negative way like that, like collapsing within myself and shutting down and then projecting that out to the world to my ex-wife Dawn. Dawn, Sorry.Mischa Z: 06:54 When I did that, it turns out I had the habit of doing that. I was gifted in both. I could, I was very gifted in the art of the seething, silent treatment, as well as the art of justifying my booming loud voice and, and these sorts of things. And of course my kids, you know, this demand for respect this whole demand for respectful. That's how my father was, but that's how our generation is. Or maybe you still, as a person demand respect from your kids. If you do, God bless that did not work for me. It turns out, um. How else could I say it just, you know, the need to be, right? People, places, things, um, you know, and, and it worked for me, right? Like that, that aggressive attitude worked for me in sales. Meaning I could channel that energy into telemarketing, into prospecting and to door, to door sales. So not that I was being angry towards my prospects, but I could channel that energy towards sales. And, you know, people, I could be of service people. There was guys out there who loved, you know, my age type sales that sort of master of the universe, um, you know, kiss my ass if you don't like me kind of an attitude. Um, bringing that attitude with arrogance, shall we say thanks to my, um, dialogue on the MBA, 88, which again, I wouldSpeaker 2: 08:55 Encourage you to buy and start recording your thoughts. Cause it's super fun. Um, I'm running, starting to run long in this episode. So just to recap where we are, I'm talking about the anger in a broad sense. And, uh, I'm going to tell you where I absolutely had the awareness that it needed to change and the next steps from there. So look forward to, I suppose it would be part four peace out, have a good day.
I had a really funny thought. Russell Brunson is my mentor and I've never met him. Who knows if I'll ever meet him. And, and he wouldn't be able to pluck me out of a picture or a crowd. Well, I had a really funny thought as I was listening to the Russell Brunson Marketing Secrets Podcast recently. And you know, I'm in Russell,Brunson's 2CCX coaching program. His high end coaching program. I am a click funnels member. So I use his software to host the funnels and the webpages. Many of the webpages that I have that are about me. And Russell Brunson in effect, I was thinking about it like, he's my mentor, right? He is my mentor Russell Brunson's my mentor. And I thought, that's the funniest gosh, darn thing, because I have never met him. Who knows if I'll ever meet him. And, and he wouldn't be able to pluck me out of a, out of a crowd or a picture. And I think that that is so funny and so weird and so abstract. Because I'm like, well, he kind of is my mentor, this illusory mentor.Mischa Z: 01:41 And I had a, I had this guy Ken, who was a, my spiritual mentor for many years, 15, 16 years. And he finally passed away and Ken was my spiritual mentor. Mentor for free and, and, you know, very influential in my life. And one of the things he was telling me over the years was was, Hey, you should find a business mentor. You should find a business mentor. And, uh, oh, here comes the wind. This is going to be very windy. I need a wind screen for my phone. Oh, by the way, I'm walking through the Encinitas community park and now hitting the road. And I'm recording on my phone with my MV88 mic, which you should go by off of my resources page, www.belove.media/resources. But... I am the crazy one. I am the crazy guy talking into his phone.Mischa Z: 02:55 I'm the crazy homeless guy today. And the Encinitas community park. As I record this, it's about 5:30 ish, but it is busy, busy with lots of families, lots of kids, lots of football programs, lots of little kids at the park, lots of kids playing soccer, all the stuff. lots of people walking their dogs. Plenty of opportunities for me to feel in secure design, walking and recording with my Shure, Shure. S H U R E MV88, mic, which you can go by off of the show notes of this podcast episode and you should buy it because it's an awesome toy and you can record whatever's high quality recordings of whatever's rattling through your melon. So there's two ideas back to the mentor thing. And Ken telling me, I should have a mentor and being I've been in recovery for a majority of my life.Mischa Z: 04:12 What two-thirds of my life now, where the idea of mentorship is it's free. Um, you know, you, you, as, uh, as a recovery mentor, oftentimes it's, it's free and that 12 step programs and things so subconsciously or consciously, depending on any given moment, I've had an idea that it should be free. Now I did have a home loan mentor. Darren Riley love you, Darren, if you happened to be listening to this, Darren Riley taught me so much about home loans and was so influential and was a springboard for me for massive success and really how to do that business, right. And, and how to thrive. And, and all of these things. Now, I didn't literally pay him, but I worked for him for a couple of years. And he got, you know, a percentage of, of all the business that I did. And year one, it was a great deal for me, for me, because I took advantage of his knowledge and his, um, expertise and all that, and just was constantly, you know, taking advantage of that relationship.Mischa Z: 05:43 And I say taking advantage of that, I mean, you know, utilizing that relationship in a good way. And so he was overworked and underpaid year one of the mentorship. And then you're too, when I was effectively, well up to speed and just cranking away, I was a very quick learner and, uh, many things came together for me at that time. Um, you know, he was, his shoulder started hurting from stacking the money. That's how I like to say that. So anyway, uh, years later, you know. Ken, You should get a business mentor as I was looking for new ventures. And so I had it in my idea, you know, for free. And then also that you've got to know the guy or gal you've got to know the person. And so it makes me think about the other funny thought was like, you'll hear people who talk about, oh, my guru, my guru, my guru.Mischa Z: 06:52 And, and so you could say, oh, when was the last time you met your guru or, had coffee with them? Or talk to them? And they're like, oh, well, they're dead. You know, I talked to them in spirit or, well, I've never actually met them. They're, uh, they're Indian. And, you know, they're an avatar over in India or something like that. And so the way you're, you're oftentimes in those relationships, the way you're. It's a third party relationship, two or three degrees of separation. So either that, that spiritual person is dead. And so you're, you're getting to take advantage of that relationship by one of their, the dead person's old students, right? So that, that student, you know, is now teaching others. And by default, the dead guru is now the new students guru. Um, or, you know, you've got your Yogi who's over there in India.Mischa Z: 08:02 And, uh, you know, he, he was a teacher to somebody. Somebody who is now in the states and, and mentoring new yoga people, or what have you. And so again, by two degrees, or is that one degree of separation, two degrees of separation, the person you've never met is now your mentor. And, oh my gosh, I used to think that was the funniest thing ever. And now, honestly, I don't know if I'm going to publish this episode because it's just such an abstract, weird concept for me. But Hey, I'm paying for a high-end coaching program. And, uh, so which is awesome, not complaining, super stoked about it.Mischa Z: 08:54 Like it's been money well, well, well, well invested. And in hindsight, I would've taken advantage of high end coaching programs earlier in my life. Like really invested in myself in that regard. Um, but B it's two degrees of separation that Russell Brunson is my mentor. So one of Russell Brunson's coaches is my coach. His name is Vince Green. And Vince love you if you are happening to listen to this episode. But, uh, then says so good. And here's my, whatever it is, that one degree or two degrees of separation that Russell Brunson as my mentor. So funny life is good. Got to have fun, peace out.
This is The Digital Story Podcast #781, March 9, 2021. Today's theme is "A Growing Interest in Fixed-Lens Cameras" I'm Derrick Story. Opening Monologue Whether it's a super-compact Sony RX-100, a handsome Canon G5X, or a posh Leica Q2, fixed-lens cameras are more and more part of the conversation among photographers who want to combine imaging power with portability. On today's show, we'll examine some of the thinking behind their popularity and my recommendations if you're in the market for one yourself. I hope you enjoy the show. Digital Photography Podcast 781 Tune-In Via Your Favorite Podcast App! Apple Podcasts -- Spotify Podcasts -- Stitcher Podbean Podcasts -- Podbay FM -- Tune In A Growing Interest in Fixed-Lens Cameras One of the most popular questions during the recent iPhone Pro Workshop was inquires about great fixed lens cameras to complement an advanced smartphone (itself a fixed-lens device). The thinking being, I really like my iPhone, but I also want an excellent digital camera. And if I don't have to buy a bunch of lenses and accessories, I can spend a bit more on the camera itself. That perfectly reasonable thinking. Another viewpoint was" "I already have an interchangeable lens system that I like. I don't plan on starting over. But I would like a more compact camera for those times I don't want to lug my system around." Yet another common sense approach. There is something appealing about a camera that only needs a spare battery as a accessory. It's easy to grab on the way out the door, stash in your jacket pocket, and call it a day. Plus, there are some great cameras to choose from. Here are my five favorite fixed lens models, ranging from the most expensive to downright affordable. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1R II $3,298 - The Sony RX1R gets the nod over the Leica Q2 because of its more versatile 35mm Zeiss lens (compared to 28mm), lower price tag (compared to $4,995), and tilting LCD. This is a beautiful full frame 42MP camera that will be used and cherished for years to come. Fujifilm X100V $1,399 - I think Fujifilm comes closest to the Leica rangefinder look and feel of any competitor, but without the steep price tag. Start with the Hybrid 0.52x OVF with 3.69m-Dot OLED EVF, add an impressive 35mm equivalent f/2 lens, tilting LCD, and a 26.1MP APS-C X-Trans BSI CMOS 4 Sensor, and you have an impressive work of art that happens to take great pictures. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VII $1,298 - If you want a more versatile zoom, then the RX100 is a top quality choice. Its 24-200mm Zeiss optic has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 at the wide end. Plus you get a 20.1MP 1" Exmor RS BSI CMOS Sensor, popup EVF, tilting LCD, and Fast Hybrid AF System with 315 Phase-Detection Points - all packed into a compact package that you can stash in your front jeans pocket. Ricoh GR III Digital Camera with GW-4 Wide Conversion Lens Kit $1,149 - This super-compact and discreet GRIII provides plenty of punch with its 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor with a fast f/2.8 28mm prime lens with image stabilization. You don't get a tilting LCD or integrated flash, but you do get an accessory 21mm wide lens for some very exciting imagery, especially in the urban environment. Canon PowerShot G5 X $899 This handsome, compact Canon is a great deal. For $700, you get a 20.2MP 1" CMOS sensor, 24-120mm zoom lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.8 at the wide end, terrific image stabilization, tilting LCD and pop up EVF, plus in-camera charging. - There are other excellent contenders such as the Panasonic Lumix DC-LX100 II ($797) that didn't make the top five for features such as a fixed LCD, that may not be an issue for you. Any of these choices would make an excellent single-camera companion to your smartphone, and provide lots of enjoyment along the way. Second Session of Integrating iPhone into a Pro Photography Workflow Online Workshop - April 21 to May 15, 2021 The first session of "Integrating iPhone into a Pro Photography Workflow" Online Workshop has sold out. But now I've posted a second session that begins April 21, 2021. If you're interested in attending, just go to catalog page. In this workshop you will explore: Working with just one digital camera and an iPhone. Taking advantage of a versatile fast prime lens on your digital camera and using iPhone for additional focal lengths. Perfecting a RAW workflow with the iPhone. Leveraging Apple ProRAW for those who have iPhone 12 Pro. Building a kit that allows you to travel lighter without compromising capability. Post processing tips and techniques using Photos on Mac, iPad, and iPhone. Investigating other software and workflows to augment your imaging prowess. You can sign up by visiting the workshop catalog page. Sennheiser MKE 200 review You can read the entire article on Digital Camera World. The Verdict: The Sennheiser MKE 200 is an instant upgrade microphone that will level up your camera or smartphone audio recording. For novices looking to match it with their mobile, Sennheiser doesn't offer the suite of solutions Shure does with the pricier MV88+ -- a mount, mini tripod, and an app to manage audio recording. What saves the MKE 200, therefore, other than its value is that it also doubles up as a DSLR or mirrorless camera microphone, and works a treat at improving audio capture at a relatively low cost. Pros: Instantly upgrades audio capture quality, Battery-free solution, Smartphone and camera support. Cons: Confusing front to back design, No on-body gain control. Compact, the Sennheiser MKE 200 weighs just 48g, and measures 69 x 60 x 39mm. No batteries required, it's a plug and record solution, and it's totally fuss-free. There aren't any gain control settings on the mic, it's available in black and black alone, and the one visual flourish comes in the form of its blue coiled cables. The Sennheiser MKE 200 attaches to a cold shoe adapter, which makes it ideal for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. Smartphone users will want to pick it up with a phone mount sporting one, so factor that into the cost of your microphone setup. Alternatively, you can thread the mic onto a tripod, so if you have a dual tripod mount, you could also be sorted. EV Explorers for Those Who Are Interested in Electric Cars I've created a new group on DerrickStoryOnline titled EV Explorers. The tagline for this group is: "Bringing Curiosity and Nimbleosity to the World of Electric Vehicle Transportation." Here we can share information, tips, discoveries and more about using electric vehicles for our photography adventures. If you want to join this group, click on this link for an invite. We're going to keep this as a private group for now, but you are invited to join us. I'll be sharing my story of going through the process of buying the VW ID.4. We're also going to talk about travel tips with EVs, and the different models available in 2021 including Tesslas, the Ford Mustang Mach, the Bolt EUV, and emerging car manufacturers as well. As the group and our knowledge grows, we'll see where this takes us. I'm sure we'll have meetups and workshops that focus both on EV travel and photography. I have secured the domain EVexplorer.com if a dedicated website seems appropriate. Really, there is no limit to this. The bottom line is that we've been a part of the photography revolution that has moved us to smartphones and mirrorless cameras. Now it's time for the automobile revolution to get us where we want to go without killing the very planet we want to enjoy. If this sounds appealing to you, then join us at EV Explorers. Must have gear for the fledgling podcaster! 3 affordable Shure microphones and the Blue articulating boom arm. Episode notes:I truly love the MV88 mic - Lightning connecter compatible, small and compact, and super dooper tech friendly.I just grab it and put it in my hoodie pocket whenever I walk out the door. The MV7, probably the best in the buis as far as the USB plug in capable microphones go. I get into a little of the tech specs to watch out for the new macs. And I talk some about the Blue articulating arm boom… And lastly I get into the fancier MV88+, which is good for mobile VLOG'ing and allows for some other cool little perks like not being limited to a lightning connector… And I get er done in less than 9 minutes!
We say this every week... but you are NOT going to want to miss this show. Old friend and new Gearbud Soren Pedersen, Product Manager of Wired Microphones at Shure, joined in to not only teach us so dang much about microphones but also spin some hilarious yarns for you to unravel. We go DEEP into microphone nerdery and all things Shure with everything you’d ever want to know about the SM series (55, 57, 58, 7, KSM - did you know the SM7B has a freaking humbucker?!), the MV88+, explaining mid-side techniques, debunking mic myths, and exploring what it’s like spending a decade at the biggest microphone company in the world. Time was also found to discuss Hank’s first (vintage Ludwig) drum kit, paid ads on Spotify, ZZ Top, Mahavishnu Orchestra, ear rumbling, the Rainger FX Minibar, and Pantera. Learning is neat.

Of all of the products that we love on the CES show floor, microphones are certainly near the top of the list, for obvious reasons. So we were really excited to see the new technology at Shure's booth this year. Shure has been in the market since 1925. They specialize in wired and wireless microphones, personal monitor systems, conferencing solutions, and a host of other audiophile products. Their newest product, a part of Shure's Motive line, is the MV88 Mic. It is a stereo microphone, which you can plug into your smartphone for convenient use. The product comes with a stand and phone attachment, allowing you to take video with your phone while getting optimal quality sound from the stereo microphone. When you plug the MV 88 into your smartphone, it automatically takes over as the default mic and the installed app pops right up on the screen and you're ready to make adjustments and start recording. It will default to stereo mode but you can adjust the width of how wide or narrow you are trying to cover and change it to cardioid or bi-directional.Shure created an app to go along with the MV 88, although you can use your default app or an app produced by another company, as well. You can record and edit your sound with the Shure Motive Audio App, making adjustments to both your sound and video quality. You can use this software to change both the sample rate of the audio and the audio file type. When recording in stereo, the app lets you adjust your sound to your specifications. You can also set presets for your sound quality choices within the app. Making changes is as quick and easy as the touch of a button or slide of your finger across the touchscreen. It remembers all of the changes you have made and will already be set to your specifications the next time you use it. The MV88 kit sells for $249.00 and you can get yours now on Amazon Prime.Shure also produces the microphone Daniele is using in the video. The KSM8 is a nickel-plated, dual-diaphragm microphone. It has a wide frequency, so it picks up your voice without struggling to find the perfect spot to stand or hold the microphone. This microphone sells for $499.00 and is also available on Amazon Prime. You can find out more about these microphones and the entire Shure line by visiting their website.Interview by Daniele Mendez of The New Product Launchpad.Sponsored by: Get $5 to protect your credit card information online with Privacy.

When capturing Audio on the go,The best recorder is the one you have on hand! Thus, I find my iPhone is always on me and nearly ready to go when I need it. With the addition of my Apogee or Shure MV88 microphones and either the BossJockStudio App or the Motiv App from Shure, I am safe to say that I can get the audio quality I want at a drop of a hat. That’s not to say that one needs to spend $150 or $225 for one of these microphones for the iPhone, with a bit of post editing the iPhone mic can work in a pinch. And taking advantage of the BossJockStudio App’s recording capabilities especially the ability to shut off the IOS processing in the mic circuitry, your iPhone now becomes a mean and lean recording machine. With the Sure MV88 multi-capsule lightning port microphone taking the industry by storm, the versatility and accessibility to the Motiv app from Shure has been a real game changer for me in how I record while on the go. Jeff Thompson from the Blind Abilities Team shares his experience and clips of audio using the Apogee, MV88 and the iPhone microphones using the BossJock App on the iPhone 6. CheeChau lends a tip in reducing background with noise reduction and Jeff includes a demo of the Shure Motiv app and it’s accessibility with VoiceOver. Once again, a big thanks to Renee Russell @Logical_Woman on Twitter for the music she produced and composed using LogicPro on her Mac. Such a creative musician. Thanks Renee. You can find the BossJock App in the App Store and the Shure MV88 in the Apple Store, on Amazon, Guitar Center, MusiciansFriend as well as the Apogee Microphone. The Shure MV88 retails for $149 The Apogee Mic retails for $225 and the BossJock App sells for $9.99 while BossJockJr is a free edition.
If you're interested in recording audio to your iOS device but you don't like the idea of buying and carrying around a bunch of extra audio gear, the small and portable Shure MV88 mic might be just what you're looking for. Special guest Cory Miller joins me today to talk about the pros and cons of this little device from Shure. Key Takeaways: Pros: Extremely portable, great sound quality (for the price), lots of features and a good iOS app for changing settings. Cons: Cell service can cause interference in the recordings, swivel head is only 90 degrees instead of 180. Not great in windy conditions. Summary: If you want to capture better audio on your iOS device, the Shure MV88 is a great piece of gear for the price. The Shure MV88 is a small microphone (about the size of a golf ball) that plugs into any iPhone with a lightning port. Sells for $150 new in the US, and comes with a nice little case and a windscreen. It has four different pickup patterns; stereo, mono cardioid, mono bidirectional, and raw mid-side. It has a iOS app that accompanies it that gives you control over various options and settings like input gain levels, EQ and compressor settings, the various pickup patterns, and more. Who Is the Shure MV88 Best Suited For? Aaron: I think Shure had three people in mind when they created this product: Solo Podcasters Amateur Video Producers or Vloggers Musicians If you want to have a portable recording setup with quality better than the built-in mic on your iPhone, this is a product you should take a close look at. What We Like About the Shure MV88 Cory: One of my favorite things about the MV88 is that it’s pocketable. I’ve recently started vlogging, and I’d bought a Canon DSLR with some lenses and a Shure Lenshopper Mic. So I had this huge camera setup that was massive, and it’d be good for setting up in a studio, but if I’m out on the go or if I just want to quickly record a video, it’s a really inconvenient setup. So I bought the MV88, and I love that I can put it in my pocket and record a quick video anywhere I am. Aaron: I second that. I also have a DSLR and some external audio equipment, and I just got tired of carrying it around with me. It added 10 lbs to my backpack and I rarely every used it. This little Shure MV88 weighs nothing and is always ready to go if I want to shoot a quick video or record a quick thought. Obviously the audio quality isn’t equal to a more expensive setup like a $300 shotgun mic and a Zoom H4N, but it’s an improvement over the built-in mic and it’s much more portable. And the lens on my iPhone 6S+ is more than fine for personal or vlog style videos. Cory: If you want a better lens for your iPhone you can pick up a Moment Lens. If you’re planning on using your iPhone to create content, it’s worth investing $150 for the MV88 and another $100 for an upgraded lens. That’s still nothing compared to what you’d spend on a mid-level DSLR. Aaron: Buy a JOBY Gorillapod (flexible tripod) and an adapter for your iPhone, and you’re good to go shoot all kinds of video. Pros: Extremely portable, great sound quality (for the price), lots of features and a good iOS app for changing settings. What We Don’t Like About the Shure MV88 Cory: I used the MV88 a LOT over this past weekend and there were some clips that didn’t capture any audio, or the audio was crackling and spiking. I’ve since heard Do Not Disturb mode or Airplane mode helps with that, but I didn’t know that at the time, so I lost about 60% of the clips I shot. Not a huge deal but it would have been nice to have been warned in advance. That’s a downside for me because if I’m out on the go, I don’t want to have to think about switching airplane mode on and off. Aaron: Yeah that’s no good. How does it work with Periscope? Have you done any live Periscope streams with it? Cory: I have, and I’ve had good results. My friend (and co-host) Kyle Adams also has an MV88, and he’s also had good results with streaming on Periscope; no problems yet. Aaron: I should mention here that I haven’t experienced any of those audio issues with clips I’ve recorded, although I have noticed a slight delay or lag when I use it in Snapchat. I believe that’s just the time it takes the app to send a message to the mic to tell it to record, though. Hopefully there will be a fix for that problem in the future. Cory: Another downside is that there’s only a 90-degree swivel on the mic. So you can either point it at yourself or out to the side, but you can’t quickly flip it around from front to back (you have to unplug it and turn it around). Again, not a huge deal, but it’d be nice to have a 180 degree swivel. Also, it seems to offer mixed results in windy conditions. I’ve recorded some stuff that didn’t turn out very well even with the included windscreen, so just be sure to do some testing (regardless of the mic you use) before you hit record. Cons: Cell service can cause interference in the recordings, swivel head is only 90 degrees instead of 180. Not great in windy conditions. Alternatives to the Shure MV88 Aaron: There was a question earlier about using lav mics and so I wanted to touch on that and some alternatives to the MV88. If you’re going to be shooting video or recording audio that is 99% just you (or someone else) talking, then a lav mic like the $79 Rode SmartLav might be a better option for you. If you want a directional mic for less money, the Rode VideoMic Me is only $70 and while it doesn’t have as many features, it will be an improvement to the built-in mic. Cory: There’s also the directional aspect; if you’re going to be turning your head a lot or moving around while you’re talking, a lav mic will probably be better than a shotgun mic or a directional mic like the MV88. Aaron: You could always buy both. I think where the MV88 is really strong is in run-and-gun situations; where you’re moving around and shooting video or recording audio that isn’t just someone sitting in one place and talking. Summary: Cory: The MV88 is a good buy as long as you understand that while it can give you decent sound quality, it will not sound as good as microphones that cost 2-3 times as much. It’s a strong option for anyone looking for a lightweight solution for recording better audio on an iPhone. If you want to capture better audio on your iOS device, the Shure MV88 is a great piece of gear for the price. Aaron: I agree. Two thumbs up.
