Episode Summary: Warrior woman—this one is personal. It's raw, it's real, and it's the truth behind why so many of you are doing the work... and still not getting the results. In today's solo episode, I walk you through what happened when I—someone with 20 years of experience—tried to layer sprinting into my already packed training and life. Spoiler alert: it didn't work. It was messy. And I nearly burned it all down and binge-watched Grey's Anatomy for the 27th time. But I didn't. Instead, I learned what it really means to build a body you love. And why most women aren't failing because they don't know what to do—but because they don't know how to approach it all for their body, goals, and life. If you're tired of the checklist, the metrics, the macros, the saved reels, the wearable judging your sleep... and still feeling like something's off—this episode is for you. I also give you the full BTS of the workshop I'm hosting next week: Build the Body You Love. And girl—you need to be in the room.

In this episode, I'll break down why most women get stuck in their training, the missing ingredients in their programs, and how refining how you move (elegance) and how hard you push (intensity) will unlock insane strength and body composition changes. Oh, and one more thing—I'm hosting a free LIVE workshop soon: Build the Body You Love in 2025. In it, I'll take you through my Warrior Way system and help you design a training plan that actually works for YOU. Stay tuned for details! Let's get into it, warrior. What You'll Learn in This Episode: ✔️ The two most overlooked keys to strength and body transformation: Elegance & Intensity ✔️ Why following random plans & apps isn't working for you ✔️ How movement mastery (a.k.a. elegance) leads to better results, injury prevention & confidence ✔️ How training with intensity drives real strength and muscle growth ✔️ A simple training challenge to test your intensity this week Powerful Quotes from This Episode:

Episode Summary: Warrior woman, welcome back to The Warrior School Podcast. Today, I'm dishin' up a guest Ep. featuring Sara Fiovento—a badass powerlifter, fitness coach, and social media influencer. Sara and I know each other from the gym. I wanted to get her on the pod to talk about her training journey into powerlifting and how she navigates the mental and physical challenges of the sport. We talk about how she finds balance between strength, performance, and aesthetics. We also explore the reality of being authentic in the social media space, what it takes to build a strong training foundation, and why going deeper—not doing more—is the key to creating long-term success in training and life. This conversation is packed with insights, laughs, and powerful takeaways to help you in your own health and fitness journey. Sara shares her fitness journey and expertise across multiple platforms, including Instagram (@fitsarax), TikTok (@fitsara), and YouTube (FITSARA). Sara's content includes workout routines, fitness tips, and motivational insights to inspire and guide her audience towards achieving their health and fitness goals. She also shares her personal experiences and challenges, fostering a supportive and engaging community. She offers online fitness coaching and collaborates with fitness brands. Connect with Sara: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fitsarax/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeFS5J_O59dUTUjHVxIoiAA TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@fitsara Key Takeaways: Training Isn't About Doing More—It's About Going Deeper: Mastering the basics and building a strong foundation creates endless possibilities for growth and specialization. Balance Strength and Aesthetics: Training isn't just about how you look—it's about how you perform. Combining powerlifting and bodybuilding gives you the best of both worlds. Authenticity Matters on Social Media: Success online comes from showing up as your true self—not from trying to please everyone. Self-Awareness is Key to Success: Collecting data, reflecting on experiences, and tuning into what feels right are essential for progress in training and life. Simplicity Wins Every Time: Keep it simple, focus on the essentials, and you'll see massive growth over time. Powerful Quotes: “You don't need more; you need better. Go deeper, not wider.” “Success in training isn't about hitting numbers—it's about falling in love with the process.” “You only learn what's right for you through experience. You have to try it on, collect data, and adjust.” “Strong women aren't born—they're built with intention, repetition, and grit.” “Social media can't define your worth. Do it for yourself, not for the likes.” Connect with Amy:

Today's EP is a spicy one
As I drive home from the dentist, drinking a cortado, we chat about how you can enhance your nutrition and training to achieve specific body composition goals, especially for women who feel stuck despite consistently showin' up. I talk about the importance of looking deeper at your foundation, nutrition and training, the benefits of incorporating elements from different sports like bodybuilding and CrossFit, and the significance of lifestyle factors including stress management, alcohol and sleep on body composition and results. Some key things we chat about Go Deeper, Not Harder: It's not about adding more. The secret lies in refining what you're already doing—whether it's squeezin' more out of your nutrition, training, stress management, or sleep. Optimise each element to make the most of your efforts. Identify What's Holding You Back: If you're doing the work but still not seeing the results, it's time to get brutally honest about what's holding you back. For many, this could be their relationship with alcohol or not pushing hard enough in training. Own it, declare it, and create an action plan to move past it. Understand the Time Commitment: Real, lasting body composition change takes time—2 to 5 years, on average. If you're consistent and committed, you'll start seeing big results, but remember it's about building a solid foundation first, both physically and mentally. Expect this journey to be longer than you think, but well worth it. Your Mindset is Key: The most important factor in making a lasting change isn't your training program—it's your mindset. Managing your thoughts, overcoming your fears, and believing in yourself are all critical in pushing through and making the progress you want. The Long Way Home is Worth It: If you're serious about building the body you love, the process will take time. But this approach will not only give you lasting results, but also the strength, resilience, and mindset to thrive in alllllll areas of life. - 00:00 Introduction to Training - 17:03 Analysing Your Training Routine - 17:41 Incorporating Bodybuilding Techniques - 17:58 Exploring CrossFit and High-Intensity Training - 20:16 Auditing Your Training Elements - 20:50 Addressing Lifestyle Factors - 22:35 Overcoming Personal Barriers - 24:11 The Role of Alcohol in Fitness - 27:24 Setting Long-Term Goals - 29:49 The Timeframe for Body Composition Changes The Warrior School Podcast is for women ready to break free from feeling stuck, frustrated, and disconnected from their bodies. I'm excited to talk with you all about how I set up my own personal training programming in today's episode! There are plenty of ways to set up your workouts each week, and there's really no right or wrong answer in regards to how they should be. I've had quite the journey with my workouts over the years. From being an avid runner to doing only Beachbody workouts, to then finding weightlifting and falling in love with that, I've tried a little bit of everything!I've grown to love workouts that are full body focused (i.e. compound movements), and so do the ladies I work with! I enjoy getting to create full body and accessory workouts for myself and my Fit Club ladies that are both fun AND effective. While accessory-style workouts (isolation movements) are very beneficial, I've found that full body workouts tend to give you more ‘bang for your buck' overall. You can totally do 3-4 workouts/week and build a body that you love. But..you've got to be doing the RIGHT kind of workouts + lifting heavy enough to do so!Whether you've been working out for years like me, or you're just getting started with exercise, I hope you find this episode valuable as you navigate your fitness journey! In today's episode, we cover:My personal journey with workouts + how that's changed over timeMy decision to really shift my workouts & programming a few years ago + what that looks like nowCompound movement examples + the awesome benefits of doing theseMy current workout programming with both compound and isolation movementsHow I'm able to make my Fit Club membership effectiveWhy full body workouts tend to yield better results Paying attention to soreness and how your body recovers after workouts + why enjoying your workouts & getting results mattersHow to work with me:FIT CLUB is a monthly membership with workouts designed to take the guesswork out of your fitness routine + get you the body you want. Listen: I am NOT a fan of traditional, unsustainable food diets. You know this. But what I CAN get behind: a MENTAL diet. People are quick to go on diets when they don't PHYSICALLY feel their best, but how often do we go on a MENTAL diet to ruthlessly eliminate all the negative inputs for our brains when we don't MENTALLY feel our best? On this podcast, we talk a lot about food consumption. But overall wellness goes beyond what type of food you're consuming — it's the type of media you're consuming, conversations you're having, people you're surrounding yourself with, what you listen to, and how you think on a daily basis. In this episode, I share a vulnerable story about what I've been going through recently that led me to the point of NEEDING this mental diet. Plus, we go over what the 30-day "mental diet" actually entails.Would love to hear your thoughts and if you're joining me!Instagram: @byjuliebooher (DM me here about my Healthy & Happy Mama 8-Week Program!!)Buy my book, Healthy & Happy: Find Food Freedom & Create the Body You Love, HERE.

Send us a Text Message. We all remember the words from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by the wicked queen …” Magic mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all.” The mirror could never lie and thus began our personal infatuation for critiquing ourselves and comparing ourselves to others. Today we are talking about the self-sabotaging talk we all have used to wish away our thick, thin, curly, straight, limp, grey, blond, and brown…hair. As well as our fat, thin, tall, short, big-boned, skeleton, or gaunt features. Our desire to make sure our features are perfect before others take a look and judge. We also know about looking in the mirror and determining our self-worth by the reflection that stares back that meets or doesn't meet our own expectations. We try to stop the negative self-talk, but we can't help ourselves, for thousands of years the mirror has been a reflection of image, power, and status. From these reflections of ourselves come our ideas about food, dieting, and thinking our diet is the reason for all our problems. How did we become so critical, and so self-indulgent in looking past health, happiness, and joy in our efforts to look and think ourselves perfect? Our guest today, Bonnie Giller, is a Registered and Certified Dietitian Nutritionist, Certified Diabetes Care, and Education Specialist, and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. That's what Kate Galliett - founder of Fit for Real Life and author of "Becoming Unbreakable: How to Build a Body You Love to Live In” - is here to teach us.In this episode we discuss: Why should you have an explorer's mindset when it comes to your own health, mindset and overall wellness. How to build trust with your body (tip -it comes to listening to it!) and how to truly nourish itWhat is a body care practice (fact: IYKYK, we all need a body care practice - this was a new one for Tina and Ali).Spirituality's role within body care and wellnessFood allergies, gut health, intuitive wisdom + fight or flightHow we take care of our body as we ageAlso, Kate walks us though an exercise she did to help improve her breathing which actually changed the shape of her face (see here for the results!)About KateKate Galliett is the all-around powerhouse behind Fit For Real Life, where she's been writing about how to get fit for this one real life you've got since 2008. Helping people build their body to be strong, capable, and Unbreakable so they can live life as fully, deeply, and energetically as possible is the only thing Kate has ever cared about. She's personally experienced what it's like to live life on the other side of the coin, where aches, pains, and a distrustful relationship with her body held her back from living life fully. And in fact, you wouldn't have recognized her then as compared to now. But over the span of 20 years, she's taken what she's learned on her own journey and taught it to others because the world is a better place if more people feel better.Kate earned a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from Valparaiso University and went on to study a variety of certifications and trainings, all of which helped her curate the holistic approach she takes to body care today. In addition to her work with clients in-person and on her websites, she's coached at Nerd Fitness Adult Summer Camp, has been featured in Experience Life Magazine, Livestrong.com, and a variety of other publications. She lives in the great state of Utah where she can put her Unbreakable body to use for adventures in the mountains.Connect with Kate GalliettInstagram: @KateGalliettWebsite: fitforreallife.com Buy Kate's Book: “Becoming Unbreakable: How to Build a Body You Love to Live In"Connect with Ali + Tina:Instagram: @soulfulstreamingWebsite: www.soulfulstreaming.com Email: Have a topic you want us to dive into or want to be a guest, email us at, Ali@soulfulstreaming.com and
Well, Habit Thrivers, we have made it through the January blues and to the last episode of this month's podcast! So give yourself a pat on the back for pushing forward, listening to your body and (I hope) finding new ways to just feel better. Today, I'm reflecting back to the first episode this month, where we talked about the “push-and-pull” feeling we all get after the holidays that we either need to be more active after a lazy holiday or just sit back and chill out after months of crazy planning and partying. With that in mind, we are going to push forward into February with a special interview with Kate Galliett, a personal trainer and coach of over 20 years and author of “Becoming Unbreakable: How To Build A Body You Love To Live In.” Kate believes that “being fit for real life is about far more than just exercise,” and she teaches us that we can take a body that feels broken and make it Unbreakable … no matter our age, physical condition or starting point. Aches, pains and perceived negatives about our bodies tend to lead down a road of reduced quality of life. Even depression. But, according to Kate, this doesn't have to be true! Every one of those sensations is a signal to explore. These signals give us information about the inner and outer state of our body like telling us that we need more sleep or less alcohol or more physical activity, etc. Kate suggests being an explorer with your body. As we become curious, we remove ourselves from attachment to our pain, situation or circumstance. Our pain is not who we are … it is merely a messenger. Kate shows us that changing our relationship with our body's sensations can give us hope for the future, allowing us to do the things we want to do… Travel Compete in races Paint Perform Create Get on the floor with our grandkids Anything you can think of … the sky's the limit! So, what do YOU want to do with your new, Unbreakable body? It's an arena where other people have strong opinions that are rooted in their values, and as is often the case with opinions, folks like to give you theirs. But at the end of the day, it's your body. You get to decide what you do with it and how you take care of it.” Loving the show? Let's connect! In part 2 of my nutrition series all about intuitive eating with light structure, we dive into the nitty gritty details of my GPF style of eating. In a nutshell, the GPF style of eating helps bridge the gap between restrictive diets and intuitive eating. It's a roadmap that allows you to have variety in your food choices (allowing you to intuitively choose what you eat at each meal), while still providing a framework on how to build your plate so that you feel full and satisfied (allowing you to stop thinking about food all the time). If you haven't listened to Part 1 (episode 124), please do that first -- this episode will make a lot more sense if you do. In this episode, we cover:What GPF stands for & the benefits of choosing to adopt this style of eating Five actionable steps that will help you choose healthy, filling options to put on your plateHow to structure every meal so that you feel satisfied and content after eatingA tangible example of how to structure a GPF meal (you can find more ideas under my "GPF" highlight on my personal Instagram) We dive into WAY MORE DETAIL about this topic in my book, Healthy & Happy: Find Food Freedom and Create the Body You Love!Podcast Instagram: @healthyhappypodcast
Today's episode is part 1 of a series all about intuitive eating with light structure, also known as my GPF style of eating. Life is too short to spend your days consumed obsessing about food and your body. Through years of experimentation, I finally came up with a way of eating that allows me to experience true FOOD FREEDOM. In this episode, we discuss: Bridging the gap between restrictive dieting and intuitive eatingMy thoughts about different diets, as well as intuitive eating (and why we shouldn't have to pigeon hole ourselves under one label) How I'm able to make food choices based on how I want to feel (energized and healthy) while still enjoying pizza and ice cream (without guilt!)Finding balance in the extremes when it comes to nutritionA bit of my personal story and backgroundIn part two, we'll chat all about the logistics around my GPF style of eating, like how to structure every meal to feel full, satisfied and content (and stop obsessing about when/what your next meal is).I highly encourage you to listen to this episode FIRST... don't skip it! This lays the foundation for all the practical things we'll discuss in part 2.I hope this episode, and the ones to come, save you from YEARS of struggle with food and your body. If I can help you bypass the hardship I went through, I would absolutely love to -- and it all starts with this episode. When was the last time you had a negative thought about your body? How often does your inner mean girl make you feel like the worst person in the world? Was it a couple of seconds ago? Me too. I hope you're ready. We're doing it. We're going where many refuse to go. We're talking about our bodies. This topic is something that so many of us avoid because it's just too painful. It's something that we deal with every moment of every day and feel like we're trapped. Like there's no use in talking about it because it's not going to make a difference because we're so far away from where we want to be, why change things now? I couldn't think of a more perfect guest to talk about this with. My guest is Lizzy Cangro. Lizzy is an expert nutritionist, wellness coach, and multi-award-winning author with a deep passion for helping other women finally get the body they've always wanted without dieting. Inspired by her own journey to love her body, she founded Nutrition by Lizzy in 2017, to help clients stop calorie counting, enjoy eating without guilt, and confidently step into the body they love - and sustain it. Lizzy is a licensed member of the Association for Nutrition, certified teacher, and fitness instructor. Lizzy pairs a scientific approach with empathetic understanding to help her clients silence their inner critics, prioritize their health and wellness, practice self-compassion, and let go of the anxiety of comparing themselves to other women. As a teenager, naivety combined with bad advice from non-experts resulted in an eating disorder that lasted ten years. After much inner work, she reclaimed her body confidence, and now uses her journey to inspire and motivate others to rebel, unleash their inner power, and reclaim their own self-love.I promise that you're not going to want to skip this episode. When I was eating healthy purely to change the way my body looked, it felt like I kept hitting a dead end. I was frustrated and overwhelmed, and no matter how strict I was, my body wasn't changing. When I started to eat based on the principle I share in this episode, it felt like I unlocked a new level of success. I had more energy, more mental clarity, my mood improved, and I was actually enjoying the way I was eating. THIS is how I found the middle ground between not giving a shiz about my health, to being waaay to obsessed with healthy living -- both of which robbed my joy and peace.Check out the show notes for this episode for all the questions/details we cover: juliebooher.com/podcast/118Want to become a client & transform your relationship with food and your body? Andrew Page has worked as a strength and conditioning coach for athletes and NBA players in New York City since 2007. Seeking a barbell that athletes and people from all experiences could lift, he built an improvement on the 100-year-old barbell that scaled to everyone who wanted to lift. The Axle Workout mission is to bring affordable strength training to people everywhere. Make it affordable, accessible, adaptable. We're taking barbells to the next level.Working with NBA players and elite athletes in NYC, Andrew Page realized that the 7-foot, 45lb Olympic Bar struggled as a functional tool for most people. String together a couple of BMX bike wheels, a cable crossbar, and some 2” ends and you have what is, effectively, an ultralight Olympic Barbell that anyone can lift. Such was the first version of what we now call The Axle. It's a tool that lets everyone of any level experience the benefits of lifting.Every detail from the length to the grip, to the air-filled smooth-rolling tires, is designed to give the user an empowering trainingexperience. And it fits in a bag. With lifting wherever you go, strength and performance have never been easier.Axle. Just add work.Check out The Axle Workout at TheAxleWorkout.com and give a follow on Instagram.

Most of us are well aware of the teeming colonies of bacteria living in our gut that work hard on our behalf to help maintain healthy digestion, support a strong immune system, and even influence our mood and emotional state. But did you know that other parts of our body have their own distinct colonies of bacteria, called microbiomes? Although our gut microbiome is home to the majority (and greatest variety) of microbes in our body, several smaller bacterial communities also play important roles in our health—for women, one of these is the breast microbiome. Did you know that most of the time one of your nostrils is dominant, and this affects brain function and mood? The right and left nostrils influence and are influenced by the autonomic nervous system, which is usually thought of as being beyond our conscious control. The mucous membrane of the nose has many nerves from both the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the autonomic nervous system. When there is sympathetic dominance (fight, flight, or freeze) in one nostril, it results in constriction of the blood vessels in that nostril, causing increased decongestion, better airflow, and stimulation of the opposite hemisphere in the brain. There is a simultaneous parasympathetic dominance in the other nostril, with vasodilation, a reduction in airflow, and less activity in the opposite hemisphere. Verbal efficiency is greater when we breathe primarily through the right nostril while spatial skills are better during left nostril dominance. Changing Moods by Switching Nostril Dominance If we are feeling stressed or upset, or are in an ugly mood, we can change our energy by consciously switching nostril dominance. If the right nostril is sending out warming energy and we are thinking something very neurotic, we can start breathing from the left nostril. It will send the cooling, relaxing sitali energy. If we are irritated, very depressed, in a bizarre mental state, we can start breathing from the right nostril. This will help us focus. Within 3 minutes after we shift nostrils, we will be in a different mental state. The ability to change nostrils in breathing can be taught to children within the first three years of life so they learn to take charge of their emotions. Estrogen and progesterone are important sex hormones, especially in the female body. Low estrogen and progesterone are generally caused by menopause or other health conditions. Functional foods, vitamins and minerals, and herbal supplements are all-natural ways to boost estrogen in the body. If natural methods aren't enough to boost your estrogen levels, visit your doctor to discuss other treatment options, such as hormone replacement therapy. Episode 69: Kitty Blomfield is a director at Nustrength Personal Training based in Brisbane Australia. She also has the Nustrength Youtube Channel with a series of different shows geared toward food prep, nutrition education and inspiring testimonials. She's passionate about empowering people through the right nutrition and strength training. For many years Kitty struggled with body image and was your typical over-exerciser and under-eater. Her weight would yo-yo, she lacked energy, slept poorly, and suffered from terrible binge eating. It was so bad that she'd train six days a week for up to two and a half hours a day and would eat a low calorie and low carb diet. In 2014 Kitty was introduced to the work of Doctor Ray Peat, Emma Sgourakis (The Nutrition Coach), Dodie Anderson and Rob Turner. Their research challenged her entire belief system around what constitutes ‘true health and fitness’. Since then, she's never looked back.Kitty now only trains three days a week and does very little cardio apart from the occasional walk in the sun. She follows a structured and measured training program and eats to fuel her body now as opposed to depriving her body the way she used to. As a result Kitty is the strongest she's ever been and she's in the best shape of her life but most importantly she feels the best she's ever felt. In 2015 Kitty competed in her first powerlifting competition and broke the GPC record for deadlifting in the under 75kg weight class. In March 2016 she competed at ProRaw8 and won the female deadlift only competition with a deadlift of 207.5kgs at 71.5kgs body weight. She believes that if you want to be in the best shape of your life you need to love the process. If you focus on getting stronger in the gym, tracking and measuring your training and nutrition and nourish your body with the right food the physique will look after itself. According to Kitty, there's something extremely empowering about being a strong female, she wants to help you become the healthiest, happiest and strongest version of yourself in and out of the gym.Join us on Patreon:http://www.patreon.com/integrateyourselfShow notes: https://www.pureenergypdx.com/integra...4 Sigmatic:http://www.us.foursigmatic.com/#_a_integrateyourselfCode: integrateyourselfCheck out Kitty's Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtqN...Nustrength website: https://nustrength.com.au/Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/integrateyourself)

YOU CAN'T HATE YOUR WAY TO A BODY YOU LOVE. In this second episode of the Free Spirit Academy podcast I'll be talking to Life coach, author, and face of the Perception Trainers channel on YouTube Ali Washington. Before we dive into this conversation, I want to give a heads up that this interview took place over a year ago on my YouTube channel. It was SO fantastic however that I did my best to bring it to the podcast, even though the sound quality won't be as high as some of the more recent interviews. This conversation is special because not only is Ali one of the wisest humans I've ever met and her approach to life and spirituality is absolutely no fluff and no bullshit - her experience with disordered eating landed on the opposite end of my experience: anorexia. We talk about... ...Ali's history of diet-hopping and perfectionism. ...The belief that once she was skinny, she'd finally be happy. ...How she balanced healing an eating disorder while also having health issues. ...And her tendency towards extremes. In her words, she spent a long period of time either "contemplating the meaning of it all or counting her calories" ...We talked about gaining weight after anorexia and dealing with an anorexic mind without the anorexic body - but still persisting. ...What happened when she got her dream life and still wasn't happy. ...And what happened when she began REFUSING to say anything bad about her body. I hope you enjoy this conversation with Ali Washington. Links mentioned: Ali's website. Ali's YouTube channel Ali's Instagram Free Spirit Academy website. Free Spirit Academy courses. "To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance." - Oscar Wilde Millions of Americans struggle each day with feelings of shame and inadequacy about their bodies. Studies show that the majority of women don't like what they see in the mirror. They also routinely avoid pleasurable activities until they lose weight. Over 50% of women say their body disgusts them (Dove Internal Study, 2002) 6 out of 10 girls think they'd "be happier if they were thinner" (UK Teen Body Image Survey, January 2004) The body type portrayed in advertising as the ideal is possessed naturally by less than 5% of females (Social Issues Research Centre). More than 80% of 4th grade girls have been on a fad diet (Social Issues Research Centre). 90% of eating disorders are found in girls. Bestselling and Award-winning author Bronwyn Marmo says, "As a result of the fixation for the perfect body, we are blocking the natural path to joy and happiness. It's only when we can love and accept ourselves where we are right now, that true transformation can take place." In this dynamic interview, listeners will learn strategies to love the body they have while transforming into the body they want. Bronwyn, who has gone from obesity to a healthy mind, body and spirit, will share simple ways to begin opening the door to loving your body and stop putting your life on hold while you longingly seek "perfection."
