In this episode, Fitness & Sushi returns — and Deanna's flying solo. She's sharing why the podcast is back, what's changing, and the powerful framework at the center of everything she teaches: the Ideal Body Formula. If you've been stuck in food guilt, body shame, or on-again-off-again health habits, this is where it all begins. You'll learn: Why your Ideal Body has nothing to do with goal weight and everything to do with how you live How food, body, exercise, and mind are secretly working together (or against you) The real reason diets fail (and it's not a willpower issue) What to focus on first if you want to feel free around food and at home in your body Why Deanna can't stop saying "We" To join the challenge, go to idealbodychallenge.com

Host Heather Creekmore delves deeper into the complex topic of how our relationships with our mothers can impact our body image and behaviors around food. Building on the discussion from part 1, Heather addresses the often-unspoken dynamics that influence our identity, self-confidence, and healing journey. Heather emphasizes that the point of examining mom's role in body image issues is never to blame mom, but rather to help listeners better understand their own stories and why they've believed, thought, or felt the way they did around body issues. Heather also addresses how healing from body image issues might affect your relationship with your mother and the potential grief that comes from such changes because you no longer have your body image issues and food rules in common. Heather also offers practical guidance for dealing with emotional triggers, especially when returning to childhood homes or spending time in family environments that can evoke past patterns. Heather also highlights the importance of recognizing our "little girl brain" – our young, survival-driven responses to familial interactions – and offers ways to stay present with ourselves and handle these emotional cyclones. For further exploration of related topics, check out the episode on grieving the loss of an ideal body Grieving the Ideal Body and listen as Heather prepares to delve into attachment theory in the next episode (coming December 3). What if I told you that I could guarantee a 50/50 chance you'd end up gaining weight if you tried following a Diet Culture approach to lose weight? Would you take those odds for a chance of success? But wait... the other 50% chance isn't all a success. Instead, nearly all of that percentage will lead to some weight loss followed by you regaining the same weight you lost. The "real" success, measured only in long-term pounds lost (ie not necessarily ending body image struggles, food obsession, etc, in the process), is just a measly 5%. That's right. Studies suggest a Diet Culture approach leads to upwards of 95% of people regaining any lost weight within 2-5 years. And about half (or up to 65%) of those people end up heavier than their pre-diet weight. And it gets worse with each successive attempt. Yet despite the dismal odds, we keep taking the chance that we might win the weight loss lottery. Diet Culture does not work. It has taught you to make every mistake you could think of that goes against your long term best interests. If you want to achieve your Ideal Body, you need to recognize these mistakes and take a whole new approach. In episode 261 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I are going to break down 3 of the biggest mistakes we've seen repeated over and over again from our new clients in the Mentorship (and that we've made ourselves at one point in time). And then we'll show you the approach to take instead. In this episode - “The 3 Biggest Mistakes Diet Culture Taught You”, you'll learn...

On July 24th Deanna did a live Food and Body Workshop where she taught a group of women how to overcome their preoccupation with food and their body. She showed them why this lifetime obsession with looking a certain way happens, and why it's not your fault. And she laid out a better path to take to achieving your Ideal Body - one that doesn't keep you trapped in a prison of food rules and conditional self-worth. The LIVE workshop is over, but she's sharing the replay of it here on the podcast. To schedule a free breakthrough call go here and claim an open slot.

Pretend for a moment that you're ready to give up dieting. One big problem is that you just don't know what eating without dieting is supposed to look like. You've lived so long following diet rules, that without them you feel a little lost in space. The good news is that there's no reason to feel that way. There actually is a framework and process for you to follow that guides you to YOUR unique eating style. In episode 251 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I are going to show you how to go about the transition from dieting to this new anti-diet lifestyle. And we're going to break down the process that eventually makes eating for your Ideal Body feel easy. In this episode - “How to Eat When You Aren't Dieting Anymore”, you'll learn...
Your hormones are powerful. They affect your behaviors, and even the outcomes in your life, more than you might think. Your eating and your body are prime examples of your hormones at work. We think we have absolute control over what, when, and how much we eat, and the way our bodies look, but our experiences have shown us that is not the case. Understanding the influences at play can be really helpful on your Ideal Body journey. Instead of trying to fight your own biology, you can work with your body to achieve your goals. In episode 250 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I are going to explain how your hormones affect your hunger, cravings, and eating patterns. Then we're going to show you how to approach your Ideal Body journey so that you don't end up in a battle with your body. In this episode - “How Your Hormones Affect Your Eating (and what to do about it)", you'll learn...

You can get your copy of the Yoga Nidra app by coming to see me at nuyuhealing.comWe live in a world plagued by judgement on the perfect body. The media torment us with photoshopped images of alleged ideals. This torrent of images leave a blueprint on our subconcious that erodes our body confidence. This becomes a vicious circle. We feel less confident about our body, so we eat the wrong things, we exercise less, and we start becoming exactly what we don't want. This is something we can change. Today. Now. On this episode I will guide you through a meditation to transform that blueprint and re-energise your love for your body, taking the first step toward the body you want.
Have you ever wondered why you self-sabotage? Why you struggle to do the things you know are good for you? Our intentions are usually good. We want to be healthier. We want to be more fit. We want to be happier. But for some reason we keep coming back to our old way of living - getting our old "results". Why does that happen? For the last 4 days we've been breaking down the Ideal Body Formula. The idea is simple... Your Ideal Body is the natural side effect of healthy relationships with food, body, exercise, and mind. We've already gone deep on the first 3 relationships, and now it's time to finish off this series with the last. You're going to find out why this relationship is the key to tying the other 3 together (and getting you to your Ideal Body). In day 5 of The Ideal Body Formula Series Deanna and I are diving deep into your relationship with your mind. Side note: Don't forget to sign up for the free Ideal Body Challenge later this month. We're going to be putting everything we talk about into practice. Sign up here. In today's episode - "Relationship with Mind", you'll learn...
The standard exercise prescription is strength training and cardio. But like most things with your health and fitness, knowing what might be good for you doesn't always translate into you actually doing it. When it comes to exercise, there are many issues people struggle with... doing exercise they don't enjoy seeing exercise as a way to burn calories using exercise to make up for (or preempt) poor eating pushing workouts too hard (or not resting enough) not having the motivation to do them skipping workouts too often ... the list goes on. There's a reason for this - you have a broken relationship with exercise. Healing this relationship will do wonders for your health and fitness. You'll always be drawn to working out. Your workouts will be much more enjoyable. And you will achieve your Ideal Body. In day 4 of The Ideal Body Formula Series Deanna and I are diving deep into your relationship with your exercise. Side note: Don't forget to sign up for the free Ideal Body Challenge later this month. We're going to be putting everything we talk about into practice. Sign up here. In today's episode - "Relationship with Exercise", you'll learn...
Is there anything more demoralizing than looking in the mirror and being disappointed with what you see? You feel unattractive, less valuable in society, and it affects everything from your personal relationships to your career. This is the disempowering messaging Diet Culture pushes on us - that you need to look a certain way to be happy and worthy. In day 3 of The Ideal Body Formula series Deanna and I are diving deep into your relationship with your body. This is a big one. Your relationship with your body affects your eating, your exercise, and your entire life experience. So it's worth learning how to fix it. Side note: Don't forget to sign up for the free Ideal Body Challenge later this month. We're going to be putting everything we talk about into practice. Sign up here. In today's episode - "Relationship with Body", you'll learn...
For Day 2 of The Ideal Body Formula Series we're breaking down your relationship with food. You probably already know something is wrong with your approach to eating, but it can be hard to understand what needs to be fixed. The symptoms of a dysfunctional relationship with food are apparent... Excessive food thoughts. Out of control eating. Not trusting yourself around food. Never knowing how much to eat. And the list goes on. But the problem is Diet Culture takes an ineffective backwards approach to solving these problems. So that's what we're going to dig into today. Side note: Don't forget to sign up for the free Ideal Body Challenge later this month. We're going to be putting everything we talk about into practice. Sign up here. In today's episode - "Relationship with Food", you'll learn...
We're doing something different this week. For the next 5 days, we're running a special podcast event called "The Ideal Body Formula Series". You can sign up for the free challenge right here. Today, on the first day of the podcast series, we're breaking down the Ideal Body Formula in detail and showing you why it's the answer to your lifetime food and body struggles. In this episode - "Plugging Yourself Into the Formula", you'll learn...
When I poll our community on whether they would prefer to be able to eat without counting calories, the answer is always a resounding yes. The problem? They don't trust themselves to be able to do it. Many people don't even know what true hunger and fullness even feel like. Others feel a loss of control and confidence surrounding their eating when they aren't tracking. But if the last decade has shown me anything - it's even the most staunch calorie counters can learn to let it go and trust their body's hunger cues. I was one of those people, and there are so many others like me. This skill is a key component to healing your relationship with food. And as you probably know, your relationship with food is 1 of the 4 relationships you need to heal in order to achieve your Ideal Body. In episode 243 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I are going to show you how to get back in touch with your body's hunger cues so that you can work towards just being able to eat like a normal person without the constant food and calorie obsession. In this episode - “How to Trust Your Body's Hunger and Fullness Cues", you'll learn...

So many people like the idea of breaking free of Diet Culture, but they're afraid. They have fears surrounding weight gain, losing control with their eating, and worsening health. It's normal to have fears when undergoing such a big lifestyle change, but there's really nothing to worry about. All of the fears are just that - fears. Rarely do they manifest in the way you think they will. Understanding this will allow you to make the changes necessary to finally achieve your Ideal Body. In episode 240 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I are going to go one by one through the biggest fears that keep people from adopting an anti-diet lifestyle. We'll show you why the fears manifest, and what you can really expect on the other side. In this episode - “How to Overcome the Fears Keeping You From Embracing an Anti-Diet Lifestyle", you'll learn...

Diet Culture typically portrays your health and fitness journey in an unrealistic way. You're expected to flip a switch - going from one lifestyle to the next and never looking back. But anyone who has tried to undergo a big lifestyle change knows that things rarely play out that way. The thing is, the path you experience during your typical weight loss journey is nothing like the one you experience on your way to the NEW Ideal Body. Healing your relationships with food, body, exercise, and mind have predictable stages, and being aware of them will ensure you stay on track and don't get discouraged and give up. In episode 236 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I are going to break down the common patterns we've seen over the last decade of coaching clients to their Ideal Body. We're going to show you the good, the bad, and what you need to know to succeed. In this episode - “What the Path to Your Ideal Body Really Looks Like", you'll learn...
Despite what you might hear in the media (or from that ignorant commenter on social media), your weight isn't 100% in your control. People like to put others down and write off their weight loss struggles as simply being lazy or not having enough discipline This is ridiculous. We are not carbon copies of each other, which means the way our body's work are all unique. But I'm not just talking about our genetics. There are so many other factors beyond simple nutrition and exercise that are affecting our weight. In episode 235 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I break down these influencing factors so you can see how they reconcile with your Ideal Body. Understanding these influences can lead to a more impactful health and fitness journey, improved self-confidence, and a better body image. In this episode - “The Unspoken Reasons for Your Weight Loss Struggles", you'll learn...
We have a tendency to label our food as good or bad, healthy or unhealthy. But what most people don't realize, is that there are consequences to these labels - and they usually aren't good ones. For people who are trying to heal their relationship with food, these labels tend to keep you stuck in the diet cycle (and actually result in UNhealthy outcomes), even if your intentions are good. So then how should you look at your food if your goal is to achieve your Ideal Body and be healthy? In episode 231 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I explain why these labels aren't helpful, and how they usually result in unwanted outcomes. We then show you how to approach your eating so that you can still achieve the health goals that are important to you. In this episode - “The Myth of 'Good' and 'Bad' Foods: How to Create a No-Guilt Diet", you'll learn...

Most health and fitness advice isn't all that helpful. We're usually given a series of behaviors to aspire to. Eat more vegetables. Eat less, move more. Eat xxxx amount of calories. Hit your macros. Don't eat this/that food. The list goes on. It's not that these things don't work or can't work. It's just that we struggle to actually do them. That's because we're neglecting the real influence on our eating - our psychology. Our psychology is what determines whether we stop eating when we're full, what we eat, how much we eat, when we eat, etc. So if you want to achieve your Ideal Body, you have to stop focusing so much on what you do, and more on how you think. Because once you get your psychology right, your desired behaviors happen with ease, and you get pulled towards the outcomes you want. In episode 226 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I make it clear why the standard Diet Culture behavioral approach doesn't work, and how you can start changing your psychology around eating. The result? Your Ideal Body. In this episode - “The Psychology of Eating: What Really Drives Our Eating Behaviors", you'll learn...
When you're stuck in Diet Culture you don't realize just how much you think about food. It's like there's a mental program running that's sucking up all your emotional bandwidth. How much do I eat? Am I eating enough? I shouldn't have eaten that. I really want that. Don't eat carbs. I'm hungry. When's my next meal? Don't eat another slice of pizza. Stop eating these cookies. Cravings. Calories. Protein. Eat less. Gluten. Dairy... ... and the thoughts go on. Of course, this isn't happening all at once. We usually get triggered by our body and decide to "get healthy", or lose weight, or eat better. And before you know it, you have a preoccupation with food. Unfortunately, this food obsession rarely leads to your desired results. In fact, it usually keeps you stuck right where you are, trying to control your body with food. Getting out of the cycle of food obsession is key to achieving your Ideal Body. In episode 224 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I help you understand where this food obsession really comes from, and how to stop it. Because more times than not, we're the ones voluntarily (but unknowingly) creating this harmful situation. In this episode - “How to Break the Cycle of Food Obsession", you'll learn...

Your relationship with your body impacts every aspect of your life. I've spoken to so many people who have shared how a negative perception of their body has affected everything from their eating, to their exercise, to their career, social life, and intimate relationships. We can get so caught up in "protecting" ourselves from criticism and judgment that we forget what a full life experience even feels like. But once you can envision yourself in this new, more empowered identity, it'll reignite your desire to achieve your Ideal Body. In episode 222 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I show you what your life will look like once you've healed your relationship with your body. Hint: there's likely a lot more benefits to experience that you haven't ever thought of. In this episode - “5 Liberating Changes When You Heal Your Relationship with Your Body", you'll learn...
Many of us are doing our best to try and eat less so we can achieve our goals. However, most of the strategies people implement have the opposite effect - leading to out of control overeating. The key to achieving your Ideal Body is understanding what is causing you to overeat in the first place. Only then will you be able to get to the root of the problem and address it at its source. In episode 218 of Fitness & Sushi, Deanna and I break down the common causes of our clients' overeating struggles so that you can stop setting yourself up for failure (despite your best intentions). In this episode - “5 Behaviors That Set You Up For Overeating”, you'll learn...
