Was ist eigentlich wahre Stärke?
Was? Hören Sie rein.Der Film mit Strongman Patrik Baboumian: The Game Changers

The man I have the pleasure of speaking with today is literally one of the strongest men in the world. But that's not because he's able to single-handedly throw washing machines like you or I throw a pillow, or because he can carry and walk around with the equivalent weight of a 1200 pound horse on his shoulders, or because he pulls half a ton with his neck. Patrik Baboumian's physical superhuman feats, which have recently been featured in the movie, The Game Changers, are nothing compared to the strength of his compassion. Through his career as a Guinness world-record-breaking athlete, Patrik is setting a massive sign that it's not necessary to eat animal protein to be a real man or a world-class athlete. I hope the story of Patrik Baboumian, AKA the vegan bad-ass will inspire you and open your mind to the idea that compassion is our greatest strength. That the choices we make as individuals about what lands on our plates have profound effects on ourselves and our planet. And to never stop challenging ourselves, to become the best versions we can be. In my conversation with Patrik, you'll hear:-Why protein is given too much weight when it comes to nutrition...03:00-Breaking world records after becoming vegan...11:33-Preparing mentally for the "all or nothing" moments...15:45-The effect of veganism on sexual performance...20:00-What happens to the body when you switch from vegetarian to veganism...23:45-Patrik's daily meal and training regimen...29:38-The psychology of eating...34:30-Patrik's plan to save the world...47:00-Real men don't actually eat meat...50:22-The most important elements in Patrik's life to become superhuman...53:53
A vegan diet can cut your food-related emissions by 70 percent, but can you really grow big and strong without meat? Bona fide vegan Patrik Baboumian, once Germany’s strongest man, invites meat eaters Neil and Gabe to his vegan gym in Berlin to prove you don’t need chicken breast to grow muscle. But will this be enough to shake their deep-rooted skepticism towards veganism?

The Guardian continues to demonize meat and animal husbandry while promoting plant-based kibble and vegan fake meat - what's behind this? Vegan Gains and other "activists" make a martyr out of a pig vigil attendee and a target out of a truck driver after an unfortunate accident. Patrik Baboumian, 4'7" vegan strongman is making the ultimate comic book hero to promote animal rights.

Programledare Marcus Hansson Producent Peter Normark peter.normark@sverigesradio.se
In this episode I share some of my thoughts on documentary that recently broke the internet, The Game Changers. The Game Changers is a documentary that for the most part highlights the accomplishments of elite athletes who are following a plant-based diet. It does talk about some of the environmental and health issues associated with plant-based diets, but the primary focus of the movie is on the athletes and their performance. Many people have been "debunking" this film via podcasts, articles, and YouTube videos and this has resulted in a lot of back and forth with responses being directed toward these "debunking" efforts. Personally it amazes me how worked up people get over plants, but it has definitely made for some great reading and watching online. If you haven't seen the documentary yet, you can stream it on Netflix and get more information about the documentary and the science they used to back of their claims here: https://gamechangersmovie.com/the-film/# Here is an article I wrote that corresponds to the film and some critiques of it as well as my thoughts on vegan athletes: https://strength-and-health.blogspot.com/2019/10/the-vegan-athlete-myth.html Show Notes: My thoughts on the documentary. Critics and "debunkers" of the film. Why London Real's Brian Rose claims the athletes featured in the film are not at top of their respective sports when their titles and records say otherwise. The rest of Patrik Baboumian's diet that Chris Kresser failed to mention on his latest episode of the JRE. Why I feel the sensationalism around plant-based diets needs to stop. Why didn't Joe Rogan talk about The Game Changers, a film he has been very critical of, with the film's director Louie Psihoyos when he was on the JRE the day before Chris Kresser came on to "debunk" it? It is not any harder to fuel athletic performance with a plant-based diet than an omnivorous diet despite what the "experts" claim. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/strength-and-health/support

Patricia and Patrick discuss the new Netflix release of "The Game Changers". Have you seen this awesome documentary? The film follows James Wilks, the winner of Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter and trainer to navy seals, on his journey to discover the best nutrition to speed up recovery and healing from a serious injury. What he uncovers about meat, protein and strength will blow your mind, as it did his. The film highlights many other elite athletes including World Record Holder Strongman, Patrik Baboumian, ultramarathoner, Scott Jurek and the legendary and original beast-mode actor and public figure, Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's a must see to anyone looking for a competitive edge or to level up their fitness. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/all-bodies-fitness/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/all-bodies-fitness/support
“Someone asked me how could you get as strong as an ox without eating meat? My answer was, ‘have you ever seen an ox eating meat?’” - Patrik Baboumian, record-setting Strongman, from The Game Changers. That is the epiphany of a hulking gentleman who squats the equivalent of five kegs of beer or two and half full-grown panda bears. Baboumian is truly one of the strongest men in the world and he is fueled exclusively a vegan diet. On this episode of The Exam Room™ podcast, “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll goes one-on-one with Dr. Jim Loomis who is featured in The Game Changers documentary. For years he was tasked with keeping million dollar athletes healthy as a team physician for both the St. Louis Cardinals baseball franchise as well as the Rams NFL franchise. Loomis reveals the mind-boggling list of foods the average player will eat on game day and why switching their diet could improve their performance on the field. More importantly, he also details how he overcame a series of health issues after switching to a plant-based diet himself. The change was so dramatic that he was able to complete an iron man triathlon shortly after his 60th birthday! We also hear from a young man who is trying a plant-based diet for the first time. He is fairly athletic, loves to play sports recreationally, and looking for a little bit of an edge. So what will he discover? Find out with us as we track his “vegan curious” journey. From Sundance, I sit down with ultimate fighter, James "Lightning" Wilks, former special ops, anti-poacher, Damien Mander, athlete and strongman competitor, Patrik Baboumian and former NFL player, Lou Smith, who break open the myth that meat is good for you in the movie, The Game Changers. Specifically, they explain in scientific detail that meat is responsible for significantly increasing the risks for many of the major diseases and that all that we thought we knew about meat is a marketing spin from the meat and dairy industry. Coming from some of the most manly men around, they also prove that eating meat decreases libido and sexual function and produces the opposite result of what manly men actually want. Apparently, real men eat plants! The movie features Arnold Schwarzenegger, is produced by James Cameron, and is directed by Academy Award winner (The Cove), Louie Psihoyos. “Strength must build up, not destroy. It should outdo itself, not others who are weaker. Used without responsibility, it causes nothing but harm and death. I can lift the heaviest weights, but I cannot take the responsibility off my shoulders. Because the way we use our strength defines our fate. What traces will I leave on my path into the future? Do we really have to kill in order to live? My true strength lies in not seeing weakness as weakness. My strength needs no victims. My strength is my compassion.”Patrik BaboumianStrength isn't just about physical prowess. Strength is about character.By this definition, vegan strongman Patrik Baboumian is perhaps the strongest man on Earth.Born in 1979 to Armenian parents in Abadan, Iran, Patrik and his family fled the Iranian revolution when he was seven and emigrated to central Germany. By the age of nine, he fell in love with wrestling on TV and soon developed an interest in weight training. As a young teen, he got into power lifting and bodybuilding, rising quickly through the ranks to become Germany’s national junior bodybuilding champion. For ethical reasons, in 2005 Patrik went vegetarian, accepting that this would likely undermine his performance goals. Instead, his improvement steadily escalated. So in 2011, he went completely vegan. And that's when things really blew up for the guy they call the Armenian Viking.100% Plantpowered, over the last 4 years Patrik has been awarded the title of Germany's Strongest Man, racked up multiple victories at the European Powerlifting Championships and set four Guinness World Records in various strength disciplines. We're talking about a guy who can Bench 463 lbs. Squat 794 lbs. And Deadlift 794 lbs. This is a long way of saying that Patrik Baboumian is stronger than you are. And believe it or not, he has accomplished all of these extraordinary, superhuman feats without the one thing long-held conventional wisdom dictates is absolutely necessary to optimally perform as an elite strength athlete: animal protein.I first met Patrik at the 2013 at the Toronto VegFest, where I stood on the WestJet Stage at Harbourfront Centre before a crowd 1,000 deep to cheer him towards a Guinness World Record setting yoke walk — a feat that entailed carrying 1,216 pounds (550kilos) a distance of 10 meters in less than 60 seconds (which he recently bettered to a current 560kg world record, completed in just 28 seconds). Spontaneously grabbing for my GoPro, I shot this little video documenting the astounding accomplishment:But Patrik's greatest strength is not his physical prowess. His greatest strength is his compassion.Breaking strongman world records is what Patrik does. But beyond the accomplishments and beneath the beast-like exterior lives a sensitive, gentle soul. An exemplary human of steadfast ethics whose conscience refuses to allow animals to suffer for the sake of his superhuman athletic goals. In stark contradiction to culturally entrenched notions of masculinity, Patrick performs his feats in the name of compassion — a threatening word too often misinterpreted as weakness that challenges predominant male gender role stereotypes and obliges us to rethink social priorities. My hope is that Patrik's example will open your mind. Compel you to question long-held, conventional notions concerning the relationship between nutrition and athletic performance. Reform stereotypical definitions of masculinity to embrace the responsibility mankind shoulders as protector of the voiceless. Reframe your interpretation of compassion not as weakness, but as our greatest strength. Stir you to think more deeply about your consumer choices. And ultimately inspire you to challenge your own personal limitations.Specific topics covered include: See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
