Lindsey brings a wealth of experience from her professional basketball career and works with elite athletes, from Olympians to NFL and WNBA players. Lindsey shares insights on "belief work" - a powerful, often-overlooked mindset skill that drives motivation, resilience, and high performance. We explore impactful mental training tools every coach can use to build belief, stay present, and help athletes unlock their potential on and off the field. Let's jump in! 2.07: What do you do on a Monday morning? Consider the 5 D's Decide (if you need to do it) Delegate Deferring it to another time if it's not appropriate now Do it (get the dopamine hit early – take action) Do list (tick it off) 6.24: Time Management: Is it possible to multi-task and actually do a good job? *Research suggests that we are tasking switching when we multi-task but it is unrealistic to not do it! 8.53: How can a coach get their mindset in the right zone to be present and deliver? Bravr Technique: To get your mind in a ‘high vibe' state Breathing in (say your reset word) Releasing (breathing out) X 5 times Affirmation Visualize (one of the most powerful ways to get you there) Reset 13.10: Belief work is one of the most underrated mindset skills – did you believe in yourself as a young basketballer? Belief happens in 4 stages: 1) The belief in a goal that hasn't happened yet (dreaming) 2) The belief that you need that it is going to take much longer to achieve than you expected 3) Believing when there is failure 4) Most importantly: Being able to believe under pressure 15.03: What separates good athletes from really great athletes is the ability to believe! 19.09: What makes a great coach? “Their ability to practice what you preach!” 23.10: Have we gone too far with how we talk to kids or do you think coaches need to be mindful of the language they use to bring out the best in their people? Parenting tip: Validate the emotional experience “When we don't allow the emotions to come out – they play out unresourceful 25.42: What's one of your best mindset tools? Create a reset mistake ritual (this work happens off the court well before game day) 30.18: What disruptive idea will change the way we coach in 2230? Today's guest, Lindsey Wilson is a mindset and high-performance mindset coach, a former professional athlete, and the founder of Positive Performance and The Mindset Coach Academy. As a collegiate and professional athlete, Lindsey utilized mindset coaching tools from a young age. This allowed her to experience tremendous success as a basketball player at Iowa State University, get drafted in the WNBA, and play overseas for 8 seasons. However, despite her many accolades, her proudest result was being described as ‘relentless' more than once by opposing coaches. Something she attributes to her mindset training. But she also had a front-row seat to so many of her peers struggling with performance simply because they didn't know how to train their mindset. Because of this huge need, she launched her company in the mid-2000s with a simple mission: to get mindset training tools to as many athletes as possible. Her mission continues now by providing mindset coaching tools to athletes, teams, and other high performers with her cutting-edge online courses and workshops. Her company works to expand access by training other mindset coaches in her craft. Her company offers the world's first live dual certification for aspiring mindset coaches through their 4 monthly Mindset Coach Academy certification program. Lindsey is also a mom to three young girls and practices the same mindset training tools she used as a professional athlete, now as an entrepreneur and mom. Craig Martin, Chairman of Dynam Capital, Investment Manager of Vietnam Holding #VNH gives an overview of the funds positive performance in October and what's to come. Monthly Investor Report A report detailing the activities of the Company for the month of October 2021 has been issued by Dynam Capital Limited, the investment manager of the Company. Electronic copies of the report have been made available to shareholders on the Company's website and a summary of the report is included below. Reopening on a greener and keener keel Vietnam's unique economic growth story made the international stage again in October. This time in Glasgow where Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pledged alongside more than 40 other countries around the world to phase out coal and commit to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Speaking at the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP26), he called for fairness and justice in dealing with global climate urgencies and discussed the Government's plans for trying to align its policies both with international investors' corporate governance expectations and Vietnamese citizens' own health and prosperity in mind. Cities in the country's southern provinces were gradually reopening at the end of October and the vaccination rollout continued to pick up pace with nearly 60% of the population having at least one jab. Additionally, the Government fuelled domestic expenditure with more information about its stimulus programme (which is expected to include stricter green components) while some select companies surprised the market with solid earnings results for Q3 despite the Delta variant outbreak. Vietnam's equities market also made news for setting another record high in October and continuing its outperformance of other stock markets across the wider Asia-Pacific region, including China and India. The Fund sustained its outperformance of the Vietnam All Share (VNAS) index and NAV increased by +7.3% for the month, with gains stemming mainly from real estate investee companies as well as HPG, FPT and brokerage VND. As COP26 continue to dominate headlines, it is important to consider how these companies can overcome the challenges of transitioning to clean energy and plan for a future without fossil fuels. Vietnam has quickly become a key country in global supply chains, and local company directors know they will be required not only to report about sustainability and their strategies for reducing carbon emissions but also take more action to ensure they achieve their goals and meet stakeholder demands. VNH has always believed its stewardship role as a responsible investor is a very important one when it comes to environmental and social matters in Vietnam, and we will be enhancing our active engagement with boards and senior management of our portfolio companies in regard to climate risks. We will work with them more on how to measure and report about sustainability by providing training and encouraging them to adopt internationally accepted accounting standards. Earlier in 2021 the Fund's board pledged its own allegiance to the Paris Agreement and commitment to the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) in addition to becoming a member of the Asia Investor Group for Climate Change (AIGCC). The portfolio's carbon footprint is also 32% lower than the VNAS index. This has been a result of the Fund's active management style in sector allocation and selection of best-in-class companies. VNH is nimble and can navigate small to large companies and maintain the high-level of engagement with investee companies on progressing their own ESG journeys too. In our view, the climate change transition requires everyone to play their part and Vietnam is currently the largest market for renewable energy in the region and is proactively directing investment into a greater mix of clean sources that can interconnect in the grid over time. Foreign multinationals have continued to set up operations in the country partly given its strategic location at the cross point of Southeast and Northeast Asia and as the government carries on with its privatisation process and the freeing up of state capital. Foreign investors can also play an increasingly essential part of the ESG story in Vietnam, which now makes up 30% of the MSCI Frontier Market. As Vietnam's listed companies begin to raise their game on reporting on sustainability and other issues, and as capital market reforms continue to be implemented, the prospect of an eventual inclusion in the MSCI Emerging Market index may whet appetites further.

Example of developing your own transparent rating scale that can be used across the entire business I recommend a 5 point scale, due to it being easier to manage and administer, but remember you can alter it as needed to suit your particular business. This should be against key criteria to make their roles successful. For instance, if you have a sales professional you would have grading's for things like Salves vs target, then you would have a scale within that grading, such as; a 1-5 scale 1- Not achieving- 80% or new tarter 2- Competent but underachieving- 90% 3- Satisfactory- 100% 4- Highly Competent- 105% of target 5- Excelling- 110% of target Key thoughts; Progressive companies are redesigning their performance management to evaluating accomplishments, and how these are achieved (behavioural) A good appraisal systems takes the ‘pain' out of its use and actually encourages and raises employee satisfaction and engagement TIP- Effective PM is a process not a one off event
Part 2 (EP 18)- Positive Performance Appraisals- 8 key structure tips To develop a formal PA that works for you, your people and your business, you need to start with the end goal in mind! You really need to know what you are hoping to achieve, and this might sound super obvious, but so many companies get this wrong! They miss the value of a good solid Job Description, particularly in relation to career development and training needs. You need to check that your Job Descriptions actually cover what you are expecting your staff to do, and that they are clear, measurable and actionable………without this you are setting yourself up for failure. 8 Key Tips 1- Clear Job Descriptions that are relevant 2- Clear metrics- no surprises 3- All actionables have to be under control of the person being appraised 4- Transparent rating system that is the same across the company 5- Quarterly reviews 6- The control is given to the employee to drive the conversation 7- Manager and Leaders need to be trained in coaching to run a rewarding performance appraisal that is meaningful full and will benefit the business and the employee 8- Must include career development and progression that is accessible This is the piece of the puzzle that most businesses and leaders need help with. Performance management should be about having regular, open and honest conversations. It is an opportunity to learn how someone is doing, assess how they might progress to the next level in the organization and figure out how to improve a specific skillset in order to meet goals. In other words, it doesn't have to be negative. To help us discuss this topic and dive into how to keep performance management positive is Michele Haugh, Co-Founder of EarlyHR Solutions. This week we welcome back Lindsey Wilson (@lindseypositiveperform) of Positive Performance Training and host of the Inner Game Podcast. She was on with us back in Episode 112, and she is so incredible we had to have her back on. Lindsey was an amazing athlete, an All-American basketball player at Iowa State, a WNBA draft pick, a professional player for many years, and now is not only a mindset and inner game coach for some top, top teams, but her goal is also to help coaches at every level not be intimidated by helping their athletes with the mental game. As she says, she wants to move you from “Ummmm, I don't know how to be a mindset coach!” to “Okay, it’s not perfect but I can do this!” This is often the biggest frustration coaches have - not being able to really reach someone that is struggling mentally. It’s also the thing most coaches talk about as the most rewarding… when it goes well. But how do you actually sit down and help an athlete or a team with their mindset? Get ready to take some notes as we discuss how to overcome our fear of helping our kids with the inner game, a quick breakdown of what a session can look like, and since we all coach the inner game anyway, usually after the fact when things go south, why not learn how to be proactive about it, right? Lindsey Wilson is passionate about helping teams and individuals recognize that they are worthy of winning big in their lives. She is also a prolific writer and sought after speaker who covers topics such as “Unlocking Higher Performance” and “Kickass Confidence for Women.” Her work is inspired by her experience as a professional athlete and driven by her relentless need to help build mental toughness in women, athletes, and people that want to achieve more. As a collegiate and professional basketball player, Lindsey was know for being tough. At every level, she succeeded not because of her physical attributes but because of her strength of will. What many people didn't realize when watching her play, however, was that this mental toughness had been developed through mental training tools and techniques. But other athletes around her hadn't been so lucky. Throughout her career, she saw teammates and opponents unprepared for the ups and downs of sport and underperforming as a result. They had never been taught, as she had, how to train their mind for optimum performance. So she decided to do something about it and launched Positive Performance in 2009 to train athletes and coaches how to develop mental toughness and pass on the lessons she had been given. From there, her work started expanding quickly as people outside of athletics wanted to learn about high performance. As an entrepreneur, mom, former professional athlete and coach, Lindsey's experience with high performance is varied and nuanced which helps her clients from all background identify and grow in their work with her.

None of these accolades could be accomplished if it wasn’t for her relentlessness towards her mental game. Buckingham palace has appealed to the world's media not to publish unauthorised images of Prince George. It says some paparazzi have gone to, "extreme lengths" to take pictures and, "a line has been crossed".
