A Financial Advisor's Journey from Global M&A to Private Business ClientsToday we had the pleasure of interviewing Jeremy Weston, a financial advisor with Edward Jones whose unique background sets him apart in the financial advisory space. Jeremy's education in Business Finance first led him to work for large manufacturing corporations, primarily as an auditor for Mergers and Acquisitions. After his skill set proved to be one that could bring people together and build relationships, his role expanded into leading M&A Integration teams. His goal then was to align the company's purpose with its financial goals. If the two are not a match, the Integration usually takes much longer, costs more and many times will fail. He found he needed more than being a short term problem solver. Fast forward, he found his niche in working with owners of privately held companies to achieve their financial dreams, and 5 years ago acquired his CEPA designation. Now as a Certified Exit Planner, Jeremy is working more closely with business owners. He's not only advising them on their wealth planning, he's also advising them directly on money management decisions. As a CEPA, he wraps in advice on how and when to exit their businesses. Jeremy's expertise in manufacturing has been especially helpful for the clients who own these types of businesses; he gets what they've been through and what they're trying to do now. His advice is sound and not just theoretical. As a family man, Jeremy spends as much time as he can with his wife and four children. He's one of Edward Jones higher level advisors and takes his advisory role very seriously. Listen to the episode here Find Jeremy here and Julie hereSupport the Show. Are you ready for your best exit? Ryne Ogren - Private Business Investor Everyone has their own journey in life.  It can take you to places you never anticipated.  With Ryne Ogren, it has been no different. Ryne was a professional baseball player and is now helping investors find businesses to invest in.  Listen as Ryne explains how he finds small businesses with owners that are looking to exit and need a buyer, investor or some outside management help to get the business growing.  Every business owner needs to bow out eventually, and Ryne is in the business of finding ways to help business owners do just that. Enjoy! Today we are welcoming, preparing to learn from Ryan Ogren, the founder of E, to so, Ryan, how is it going today? Ryne Ogren [00:00:27]: Yeah, well, so I'm not the founder. James Kademan [00:00:30]: Of E two E. I'm sorry. Well, let's change that. Okay, let me change that. Ryne Ogren [00:00:35]: Founder of Rhino LLC. James Kademan [00:00:40]: I don't see that email. How do you spell that? Ryne Ogren [00:00:43]: It's R-H-Y-N-O-L-C. But my real title is I'm a private business investor. James Kademan [00:00:51]: All right. Ryne Ogren [00:00:52]: Yeah. James Kademan [00:00:53]: Private business investor. That's a cool name. Ryne Ogren [00:00:55]: Professional baseball player. Private business investor. James Kademan [00:00:59]: All right, got you. Okay. Professional. All right. What is the e? Two e thing? Ryne Ogren [00:01:17]: So that's Sir Darren Jacqueline's fundraising event. And so I just walked up to him at a random M and a conference. I asked him, I was like, hey, what should I be looking to do here? And lo and behold, he just took me under his wing and looped me in on this cause. So Elevate to Educate is an arm of the Ly Two NK Foundation, which is helping to build schools in Africa. And Elevate to Educate is an arm of that, a fundraising arm of that to raise money through hiking fundraisers. James Kademan [00:01:51]: Got you. All right. Got it. Okay, so we can talk about more of that when we get going here. Ryne Ogren [00:01:56]: Yes. James Kademan [00:01:57]: So let's just say we have Ryan Ogren, the founder of Rhino LLC, professional baseball player, as well as I love this, the private business investor. So, Ryan, how is it going today? Ryne Ogren [00:02:11]: Good, James. Thanks for having me on. James Kademan [00:02:13]: Yeah, thanks for being on the show here. This is cool. You have quite the story. It sounds like all kinds of things going on. Professional baseball player into business. You don't hear about that too often. Ryne Ogren [00:02:26]: Yeah, so I'm not a professional baseball player at the moment. I retired. James Kademan [00:02:29]: Right. But we're past tense, right? Ryne Ogren [00:02:31]: Yes. James Kademan [00:02:32]: Great. Ryne Ogren [00:02:33]: That's interesting. It's been a fun ride. I've had a lot of great mentors along the way and just trying to do my best every day, I guess you could say. James Kademan [00:02:41]: Sure. So, Wayne, let's start with the whole business thing. Well, I guess business versus baseball was the goal, to get into baseball, and then the business thing just happened in your lap or maybe vice versa. I don't know. Ryne Ogren [00:02:54]: Yeah. So my dream growing up was always baseball. If you talk to anybody that was around me coming up, I was baseball all the time. And while when I finally accomplished my dream,

In this episode, taken from a recent live webinar session with Mike Thompson, we discuss the ways Private and Closely Held business owners can eradicate the fear of having their best employees and key group leave their company for another benefit or higher pay at a competitor. We discuss strategies that Fortune 50-5000 companies have been implementing for decades: reward/retention plans to make them feel heard and recognized, how they cost the employer cents on the dollar to create, and how to generate more revenue along the way. In addition, it's important to recognize that highly compensated employees have an inherent reverse discrimination at hand with the standard group benefits you may be offering. We share ways to close the gap on those benefits and how Huskey Financial and Thompson Planning Group may offer some value for you, your business, and targeted employees you desire to keep around for a while, and especially during a transition, such as your exit! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

In what could signal a shift for the GOP, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is using the power of government in an attempt to control the actions of private industry. After a public spat with Disney over education policy, he wrestled control away from the company over the private district that includes Disneyland. He also signed a law that fines social media companies for de-platforming any political candidate, even if that candidate repeatedly violates the company's terms of service. As DeSantis is a presumed frontrunner for the 2024 presidential nomination, this could indicate change within the Republican Party away from laissez-faire economics and toward more government control. We'll talk with a prominent member of the party. PLUS: Some of the biggest proposals from both parties this legislative session have died quick deaths in Olympia. AND: How America is woefully unprepared for the next pandemic, both medically and politically. I have often said that I created this podcast to bring forward guests who are both motivating and inspirational. Todays guest certainly has both qualities with a long varied career of successful endeavors. From Sales and Marketing, Private Business, President of numerous national companies; this significant career all started when he was very young, being named the youngest dealer by Ford Motor Company. Additionally, he was a member of the first team All-American Skeet Shooter Team. Then he went on to lead a successful career within the National Residential Real Estate industry. After traveling the nation for years and as he tells it, “eating thousands of meals in every kind of restaurant imaginable”, he decided to do something about it and is now the acclaimed Owner/Chef of The Lafayette Inn and Restaurant in Central Virginia, named the very best. Alan married his High School sweetheart Kaye, and together they have one daughter and clearly the apple of Alan's eye, grandson Hunter. I have known Alan for more than 30 years and always found him to be a man of faith and integrity. His mottos is WWJD.
