Her careers of social worker and writer are intricately intertwined; all of her novels explore social issues like addiction, homelessness, and mental illness. (bring in co-host and panel) UK Race Riots   Introduction:   In the 2016 presidential race, Donald Trump popularized the term "fake news," a simplistic critique aimed at liberal mainstream media outlets like CNN. This phrase captures the way news can be manipulated, reflecting the political leanings of various stations, much like the concept of "Kayfabe" in professional wrestling—where the audience is kept in the dark about the predetermined nature of the matches.    In the wake of recent riots in the UK, this manipulation of information has come to a head. Following the July 29th brutal stabbing of three young girls attending a Taylor Swift-themed yoga session in Southport, a flurry of misinformation swept across social media. It was initially reported that their attacker was a 17-year-old Muslim immigrant, fueling racial tensions. In reality, the assailant was neither Muslim nor an immigrant; he was born in Wales. However, these facts were quickly overshadowed by a wave of false narratives propagated by far-right influencers like Tommy Robinson and Andrew Tate.    As mainstream media struggled to keep pace with these online gossip networks, the lines between verified news and baseless rumor blurred, creating a dangerous cycle of misinformation. This raises critical questions: Do we trust the media to tell us the truth, or simply what we want to believe? What are the deep-seated roots of racial tensions between newly arriving immigrants and the people of England? How will the UK government respond to the rioters who attacked innocent immigrants and destroyed businesses under the guise of "Save the Children"?   These issues echo the moral panics of the past, such as the Satanic Panic of the 1980s, where children were used as a prop to push draconian legislation. Cops & School Discipline, Pew Research Pushback   Oklahoma's Supreme Court struck down a lawsuit from the last known survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre who had sought reparations from the city for victims and their descendants. The Pew Research Center recently put out a report saying that Black Americans believe in "racial conspiracy theories."  Well, that report is getting some pushback.  We'll talk to the  President and CEO of JustLeadershipUSA about why using such terms can be dangerous.  Illinois' 3rd largest school district is accused of using cops for minor disciplinary actions against black students.  We'll talk to the attorney who filed a complaint alleging racially discriminatorily handling of those students. We'll tell you why a member of the famous Motown Group Four Tops is suing a Michigan hospital for racial discrimination. I'll share my thoughts about rookie WNBA player Caitlin Clark did not get chosen to be on the 2024 US Women's Basketball Olympic Team. One night in October, 1972, violent confrontations between Black and white sailors and marines happened aboard the USS Kitty Hawk while off the coast of North Vietnam. It was the culmination of the stress of the war and simmering racial tensions. For six hours, Black and whites clashed, yet the next day, only Black sailors were court-martialed and brought up on charges. We hear about what really happened on the ship, and how such one-sided injustice happened to 25 accused Black sailors. Our guests include Marv Truhe, author of Against All Tides, The Untold Story of the USS Kitty Hawk Race Riot; and Perry Pettus, who was assaulted by Marines during the incident. Truhe served as a Navy JAG lawyer and military judge during the Vietnam war and served as defense attorney for several of the Kitty Hawk defendants.

Oklahoma judge dismisses Tulsa Race Massacre Reparations Lawsuit. The lawsuit, which was filed by three survivors of the 1921 massacre, was dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. The judge ruled that the survivors did not have standing to sue and that the statute of limitations had expired. Gabrielle Union claps back at trolls who say she's too old to wear swimsuits. The actress posted a photo of herself in a swimsuit on Instagram, and some commenters criticized her for her age. Union responded by saying that she's "proud to be 49 and wear a swimsuit" and that she doesn't care what anyone else thinks. The actor and activist Hill Harper announces run for Senate in Michigan. Harper is a Democrat and is running to replace retiring Sen. Debbie Stabenow. Meek Mill says "Free Tory Lanez." the rapper called for the release of his friend, Tory Lanez, who is facing charges in the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. MILL said that Lanez is being "railroaded" by the justice system. Gov. Gavin Newsom speaks out against Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and the GOP. Newsom, the Governor OF California, BLASTED Abbott AND THE GOP for their handling of the recent mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
