By David, the servant of the Lord, who spoke the words of this song to the Lord on the day when the Lord had delivered him from the grasp of all his enemies, even from the grasp of Saul. Praise to the Rock of Salvation 1 Then he said: I love you, O Lord, my strength. 2 The Lord is my rocky cliff, my stronghold, and my deliverer. My God is my rock. I take refuge in him. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my high fortress. 3 I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. Deliverance From Death 4 The ropes of death entangled me. Floodwaters of destruction [1] rolled over me. 5 The ropes of the grave wrapped around me. The traps of death threatened me. 6 In my distress I called to the Lord. To my God I cried out. He heard my voice from his temple. My cry came before him. It reached his ears. The Greatness of the Deliverance 7 Then the earth shook and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains [2] trembled. They shook because the Lord was angry. 8 Smoke rose from his nostrils, and fire from his mouth devoured. Coals were set on fire by it. 9 Then he tore open the heavens and came down. A dark cloud was under his feet. 10 He rode upon a cherub, [3] and he flew. He soared on the wings of the wind. 11 He made the darkness around him his hiding place. Dark rain clouds [4] surrounded him like a canopy. 12 Emerging from the brightness in front of him his clouds passed by with hail and coals of fire. 13 Then the Lord thundered in the heavens. The Most High raised his voice with hail and coals of fire. [5] 14 Then he shot his arrows and scattered the enemy. He shot great lightning bolts and routed them. 15 Then the sources of water [6] were revealed, and the foundations of the world were uncovered by your rebuke, O Lord, by the breath of wind from your nostrils. 16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me. He drew me out of deep waters. 17 Because they were too strong for me, he rescued me from my powerful enemy, from those who hate me. 18 They confronted me on the day of my disaster, but the Lord supported me. 19 Then he brought me out into a wide-open space. He rescued me because he delighted in me. David's Uprightness as a Basis for God's Judgment 20 The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands he has repaid me, 21 for I have kept the ways of the Lord. I have not done evil and departed from my God. 22 So all his just decrees remain before me, and I have not turned his statutes away from me. 23 I have been blameless with him. I have kept myself from guilt. 24 The Lord has repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight. God's Uprightness as a Basis for His Judgment 25 To the merciful you reveal yourself as merciful. To the blameless person you reveal yourself as blameless. 26 To the pure you reveal yourself as pure, but to the crooked you reveal yourself as crafty. 27 For you save humble people, but you bring low the eyes of the arrogant. 28 Yes, you light my lamp, O Lord. My God turns my darkness to light. 29 For with you I can charge against a battalion, and with my God I can jump over a wall. God Equips David for Victory 30 This God—his way is blameless. The speech of the Lord is pure. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. Footnotes Psalm 18:4 Hebrew floodwaters of belial. Belial means worthless or unrestrained. It later became a name for Satan. Psalm 18:7 See 2 Samuel 22:8, which reads foundations of the heavens. Psalm 18:10 The cherubim are the powerful angels who serve as God's honor guard. Psalm 18:11 Literally darkness of waters, clouds of a cloudy sky Psalm 18:13 The Greek text does not include hail and coals of fire in this verse. It may be an accidental repetition from the preceding verse. The parallel in 2 Samuel 22:14 does not have this repetition. Psalm 18:15 Sources of the sea is the reading in the parallel text in 2 Samuel 22:16. #top .hr.hr-invisible.av-aocsdx-89cb4ca21532423cf697fc393b6fcee0{ height:10px; } The Holy Bible, Evangelical Heritage Version®, EHV®, © 2019 Wartburg Project, Inc. "Girls5eva" is a sitcom that premiered on Peacock in 2021 where members of a one-hit-wonder girl group from the late '90s unexpectedly get another shot at fame when their biggest song is sampled by a popular young rapper. Now juggling the realities of getting older, the girls decide to reunite and prove their pop-star dreams don't have an expiration date. The series combines ridiculously catchy original songs with the rapid-fire comedy you'd expect from the team behind "30 Rock." Despite earning rave reviews, "Girls5eva" had almost as much trouble staying alive as the fictional group at its center. After two seasons on Peacock, the show was picked up by Netflix for a third, giving the girls yet another chance at a comeback. But will the S1E1 boys be ready to join the Girls5eva fan club, or will they be saying goodbye 4eva? Listen as they deep dive the show's pilot episode and find out. Starring: Sara Bareilles, Busy Philipps, Paula Pell, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Dean Winters, & Jimmy Fallon www.S1E1POD.com Instagram & X (Twitter): @S1E1POD

Episode #219 – Am I A Fool?Response to the Sermon on the Mount – Part 2 (Matthew 7:24–27)Who is the foolish builder Jesus describes in Matthew 7:24–27?In Episode #219 of the Way of the Bible podcast, that question becomes deeply personal. Rather than examining the foolishness of the world, this episode asks every believer to look inward and honestly consider: "Am I acting foolishly?" Building upon the previous episodes in this mini-series, we are reminded that all humanity begins life separated from God. Scripture declares that every person is born into sin, spiritually foolish, and unable to rescue themselves. Yet the gospel proclaims God's incredible mercy. Through Jesus Christ, believers are saved, justified by grace, renewed by the Holy Spirit, and given the hope of eternal life. But salvation is not the end of the journey. One of the central themes of this episode is that Christians can still act foolishly when they ignore God's Word or attempt to live according to the flesh rather than the Spirit. The Apostle Paul's correction of the Galatian believers demonstrates that even sincere followers of Christ can drift from walking by faith into relying upon themselves. The message then turns to Ephesians, where Paul calls believers to live as children of light. Instead of returning to old patterns of sin, Christians are encouraged to reject immorality, greed, deception, bitterness, and every form of darkness while pursuing gratitude, holiness, truth, and obedience. This is not presented as a way to earn salvation but as the natural outworking of a transformed life. The episode also highlights an often-overlooked truth in Paul's letter to the Ephesians: God's purpose extends beyond simply bringing people into heaven. Christ has given leaders to equip His people for works of service so that believers may grow into spiritual maturity and "the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Spiritual growth is the lifelong pursuit of increasing union with Christ through faithful obedience. Episode #219 concludes with an encouraging reminder: every Christian is capable of moments of foolishness, but through the Holy Spirit we are continually invited to walk wisely, practice what Christ has taught, and build our lives firmly upon the Rock. The question remains before each of us:Am I hearing Christ's words... and putting them into practice?

Thor and his wife are expecting another baby and with that comes new baby clothes, new toys, basically new everything. Well not for Thor... Thor doesn't like how expensive things have gotten and believes in hand me downs and we hare all about it during Thor's Midweek Meltdown It seems like The Rock is adding another career to his resume... His most recent business endeavor is in the music realm and his new song that frankly none of us can take serious...See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

THE JOKER / STEVE MILLER, (CAPITOL, 1973)“The Pompatus of Love,” a nonsense phrase that Steve Miller cribbed from “The Letter,” a doo-wop song by the Medallions from 1958, entered the popular culture lexicon in 1973, when this Apostle of guitar consistency applied it to spread his Joker gospel, and ascended to Rock n Roll Godhead. It's been used for the title of a movie starring Jon Cryer, and is included in the writings of Dave Barry, Steven King, and Michael Ondaatje - even though its meaning remains obscure. We all sang along knowingly with: “I'm a Joker, I'm a smoker, I'm a midnight toker…”, and when the leering slide goes “Woop Woo,” we all played air guitar right along. It's a rudimentary 1-4-5 chord sequence like thousands of other songs, and it's filled with references from other tunes, such as Ahmet Ertegun's Lovey Dovey, and Miller's own Space Cowboy and Gangster of Love, but no matter - The Joker is original gold and unforgettable. The guy is ornery, and has a right to be. I think Miller, a blues man since his teens, is underrated because of all the pop records he sold. I saw him twice - 50 years apart - and he's still as rock solid on his axe and voice as he was back then - a master at his craft. And, although he was inducted into the Rock n Roll hall, they only gave him one ticket to attend, and he rightfully blasted the institution to the press. Respect must be paid to The Joker.

Six Flags Great America is getting a brand-new family area called Camp Timber Trail, anchored by a Vekoma family suspended coaster that's essentially a clone of Phoenix at Deno's Wonderwheel Park. The area has nine attractions total, mixing new builds with clever re-themes of park classics. Mike and EB break down why these smaller, heavily-themed family coasters might matter more for a park's long-term health than another record-breaking mega-coaster. Then it's time for Quick Hits: Cedar Point's season-long Fast Lane add-on is going for a jaw-dropping $1,999 after the park closed last year's loophole of buying a cheaper Fast Lane at a different Six Flags park. Mike and EB do the actual math on how many visits it takes before that price tag makes any sense at all. Kings Dominion is running its classic dark ride Flight of Fear with the lights on every night in August, giving longtime fans a reason to ride a coaster they've been on a hundred times before. And in the biggest tease of the week, newly surfaced test footage...along with a mysterious social media post.... all but confirms that RMC's long-rumored Wild Moose coaster — a compact, maneuver-packed ride built entirely around those beloved pre-lift RMC moments — is headed to Kentucky Kingdom. Mike also circles back to Busch Gardens Williamsburg's still-mysterious Corkscrew Hill rebuild, wondering out loud what it could mean for the park's aging motion simulator theater. Coaster Radio also has a genuinely stacked week ahead: an early, embargoed interview with Hershend's creative director about Dollywood's NightFlight Expedition, a Silver Dollar City interview tied to their upcoming 2027 announcement, and Neil Patrick Harris himself joining the show to talk D23, Hong Kong Disneyland, and his connection to the Muppets' Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. The back half is this week's interactive topic, and it's a good one: listeners were asked what ride needs to leave their home park to make room for something better. Kings Island's outdated log flume, Six Flags Over Georgia's Blue Hawk, Lagoon's Double Thunder Raceway, Six Flags Great America's Superman, Cedar Point's Kiddy Kingdom, Hershey Park's train and monorail, Knott's Berry Farm's Accelerator, and Six Flags Magic Mountain's Scream, among many more.
