Don't Stop Fighting | A Conversation with JR Redmond
On this week's episode we are pleased to have 9-year NFL vet and Super Bowl XXXVI Champion, Marc EdwardsPrior to the NFL, Marc was a standout for the Fighting Irish. He tells us the story of being carried off the field by his teammates in South Bend.Marc was drafted out of the University of Notre Dame by the 49ers in the 2nd round. There, he played with some football greats including Steve Young and Jerry Rice.He came to New England at the birth of the Dynasty and the emergence of Tom Brady. Marc talks about Tom in his first year as a starter and when he thought TB12 might be special. He goes into detail about the 2001 team and beautifully illustrates the “Snow Bowl” game and the big game in New Orleans. It's a wonderful conversion that includes the book written about his younger days to what he is doing now.
Kordell Stewart was an exciting player who left a complicated legacy. In this episode, we will examine his controversial career which included his "slash" role, his promotion to the role of starting QB, his falling out of favor with the coaches and fans, and his remarkable comeback that nearly led the Steelers to Super Bowl XXXVI.REWIND is a series of our favorite Pittsburgh Sports Memories episodes that we will be dropping in between new episodesConnect with the show:Visit us on the webFollow us on TwitterFollow us on Facebook
On this timely episode, coming the day after Tom Brady Day at Gillette Stadium and on 9/11, we speak with someone familiar with both topics, Joe Andruzzi. We talk to Joe about college and getting to the NFL and how the team had fun with a skinny, 4th string rookie QB in 2000. Joe then gives us a detailed account of he and his family's thoughts and feelings on 9/11. (Joe has 3 three brothers who were FDNY including one who ran into Tower One.) Mr. Kraft had the foresight to make his brothers captains for the first game back after the September 11th attacks, 9/23/01 vs The Jets. As Pats fans know, September 23rd is also a milestone day in the history of the Patriots. Joe talks about this and explains the team's process moving from Drew Bledsoe behind center to Tom Brady and their drive to Super Bowl XXXVI. We also have some fun conversing about Super Bowl 38 and compare the two Patriots starting quarterbacks Joe protected in New England with the gunslinger he paved the way for prior in Green Bay, Brett Farve.Take a listen to this emotional yet entertaining episode.
After talking with Mike Martz earlier in the show, Bernie goes in depth on how Spygate had little to nothing to do with the Rams losing to New England in the Super Bowl in 2002.
On this episode we chat with former NESN & Patriots broadcast station analyst and 3X Super Bowl Champion, Matt Chatham.Matt gets in depth on his thoughts about the restructuring of Matthew Judon's contract, his locker room value, and being respected by Bill. Who does Chatham think Judon needs to a version of from his Dynasty days? How does preseason differ now from when Matt played? What does he feel is the current goal of the preseason and what's the main reason for the difference?Matt breaks down the makeup of the defense as currently constructed. Do they have a true “big”? What characteristic do they seem to value the most?Chatham astutely speaks on key factors on measuring a team's success and types of leadership from the players. And, of course, Matt offers an Untold Patriots Story after Super Bowl XXXVI.

In a "communique" posted to Rose City Counter-Info on January 31, the group stated that the vandalism, carried out by "disabled anarchists," targeted the Worker’s Tap because of "how this bar inherently operates with unmitigated COVID spread." "In the early hours of January 29th, some disabled anarchist attacked Worker’s Tap by tagging it and damaging a window. Due to the bullet-proof glass, the window’s damage would only consist of small dents," the statement read. The group said that phrases and symbols like the anarchist "A," and "161" which calls out "that it was fascists forces whom originally paved the path of COVID as a genocide since April 2020 through the blood of primarily Black and Indigenous disabled people, a road of bones which now many liberals and ableist anarchists goose-stomp on in collaboration with the fascists to maintain a “normal” for keeping bars and other viral-friendly entertainment operating at the expense of disabled lives." Additionally, the bar was tagged with "Covid Kills!" twice "to address how this bar inherently operates with unmitigated COVID spread, murdering disabled people in the process." The statement continued on to say that the act was carried out in "retaliation" to the "event organizers in the anarchist scene who contribute to the COVID pandemic by organizing super-spreader gatherings that, in the end, lead to more disabled people dying." In Multnomah County, where Portland is located, the number of new Covid-19 cases has remained under 1,000 since July. The most recent data shows that in the last full week of January, there were just 275 cases. 31 of those cases required hospitalization. This is down from a spike seen over the summer, with 3,180 cases recorded, and dramatically lower than the omicron spike seen last winter, with 11,373 cases being recorded at its peak, according to county data. The Worker’s Tap, the bar targeted by the vandalism, is a worker-owned and operated beer bar in Portland, Oregon. The bar required proof of vaccination to enter the establishment. Fox News Correspondent Chad Pergram tweeted, "The House has voted to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from the Foreign Affairs Committee. The vote was 218 to 211 with one member voting 'present.' In November, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said he intended to remove Omar due to her history of antisemitic comments. Minority leader Hakeem Jeffries acknowledged this history on Thursday and said, "Rep. Omar certainly has made mistakes. She has used antisemitic tropes." Omer was elected to Congress in 2018, and in her long history of using antisemitic tropes has compared the boycotting of the Jewish state of Israel to the boycotting of Nazis. A move to remove Omar began in 2021 after the Democrat-led Congress removed GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene from her committee assignments. The inmate, who was known as Thomas Lamb, was convicted of kidnapping and killing a young woman in 1969 and kidnapping a second woman in 1970, according to News13. In 2007, Thomas Lamb changed his name to “Michelle.” In the years that followed, Lamb reportedly requested to be moved to a women’s facility. This request, however, was denied. But, records obtained by News13 show that Lamb was moved to a women’s prison this month (via News 13): In 2017, a U.S. District Court ruled against Lamb in a lawsuit asking the state to transfer HIM to an all-female facility, and allow him to pursue gender re-assignment surgery. An Appeals Court upheld the ruling in 2018, stating that, although it was not the treatment Lamb might want, evidence showed he was being provided treatment for gender dysphoria, and the state was not showing “deliberate indifference” to his situation. However, Kansas Dept. of Corrections records show he was transferred Jan. 27 to Topeka Correctional Facility. While it is not known if Lamb will now be allowed to go forward with the gender reassignment surgery, 13 NEWS asked KDOC public affairs director Randall Bowman whether the state would pay for the procedure if he did. Bowman would not comment on Lamb’s case specifically. “Healthcare decisions are not made by KDOC officials,” Bowman said. “Due to patient privacy concerns, KDOC and the Governor’s Office cannot comment on the specifics of medical care for any one individual.” Redballoon Not so long ago, the American dream was alive and well. His accolades are so far-reaching that his name fills the record books. He leaves the game as its all-time leader in completions (7,753), yards (89, 214), and touchdowns (649). After winning six titles playing for Coach Bill Belichick in New England, Brady mulled retirement before signing with Tampa Bay in 2020. He would go on to win his seventh Super Bowl in his first year for the Buccaneers. There, he would be reunited with his old Patriot partner in crime, Rob Gronkowski. Unfortunately for Brady and the Bucs, the last two seasons have been a bit of a downward spiral. They captured the woeful NFC South. But at 8-9, they didn’t look like they had a prayer of advancing in the postseason. They were bounced by the Dallas Cowboys in the opening round, 31-14, the team looked old and tired, even their forever-young signal caller. Tom Brady on 2022 Season, Thanks Bucs Fans Following FINAL Game | Postgame Press Conference Play 3:55-4:28 Brady certainly was no slouch during the regular season. He still threw for threw for 4694 yards and 25 touchdowns. However, he already (half-heartedly) put off retirement last year to return for one more round. He famously announced he was quitting, had a flirtation with joining the Miami Dolphins organization, and then finally acquiesced to returning to Tampa for 2022. But the fatigue and frustration were already there. And the whispers grew into full-fledged gossip as the season progressed: This looked more and more like it was Tom Brady’s final season. At least in Tampa. Now, he’s confirmed that he won’t be playing for anyone in 2023. Brady is, as he puts it into his own words, retiring “for good” this time. Deese served as Biden's National Economic Council Director since taking office in January 2021. Deese's departure comes as economists warn the U.S. is headed into a recession this year. Hollywood could not imagine a better UNDERDOG story than the one Kurt Warner has lived. So, they went straight to the source and made a movie about Kurt's incredible journey. “AMERICAN UNDERDOG: THE KURT WARNER STORY” opens in theaters soon, and I'm thrilled to welcome Kurt this week so you can hear firsthand how he OVERCAME INCREDIBLE ODDS to live one of the most INSPIRATIONAL stories I've heard in a long time. After playing college football at Northern Iowa for four years, Kurt was undrafted and stocked shelves in a grocery store. He eventually landed a spot on the Iowa Barnstormers in the Arena Football League before signing with the St. Louis Rams as a backup quarterback in 1998. A year later, everything changed. Not only did he become a starter, during his first season, Kurt also led the Rams to a title in SUPER BOWL XXXIV and earned league and Super Bowl MVP honors. He won another league MVP when the Rams returned to Super Bowl XXXVI. After signing with the Cardinals, he led the team to their first Super Bowl appearance as well, making him the second quarterback in history to start the Super Bowl with two different teams. When he retired, Kurt finished his career owning a dozen NFL RECORDS. With all the challenges he faced, if anyone had a right to have self-doubt, it was Kurt. Did he have self-doubt? ABSOLUTELY NOT! As he explains, Kurt always believed in his talent, but how he approached that talent had to CHANGE before he found success. You're also going to hear how stocking grocery store shelves helped Kurt create a path to the NFL. It's a story of how doing COMMON THINGS the right way can produce decidedly UNCOMMON RESULTS that you can use in your life as well. Kurt also gives you a masterclass on the importance of CONFIDENCE as an element of success, especially when you encounter inevitable setbacks. FAITH has always been a part of Kurt's life, and we spend a good deal of time talking about how Kurt's RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD has grown and changed over the years to become one of the things that define who he is. We touch on how he has actively applied faith in good times and the bad and how he has STAYED TRUE TO HIS FAITH despite setbacks after his incredible accomplishments. At this time of year, and in times like these, we need UPLIFTING stories to help us find JOY and PEACE. That's why spending time listening to Kurt Warner's story is a PERFECT GIFT you'll want to give yourself and SHARE WITH OTHERS.
It was the hit felt from Boston to Bangor. In Week 2 of the 2001 season, New England Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe absorbed a vicious blow from Jets linebacker Mo Lewis, shearing an artery behind his ribs. He was out indefinitely. The 2001 season appeared lost. But in stepped backup Tom Brady, a former sixth round draft choice, and New England sports history was changed forever. Over the next few weeks, Brady compiled a 5-3 record as a starter. When Bledsoe returned to reclaim the starting role, many assumed the job was his. Instead, head coach Bill Belichick made a gutsy call in Week 11, opting to stay with Brady for the rest of the year. The move, or non-move, paid off handsomely. Brady led the Patriots to an unforgettable win over the Raiders in the AFC Divisional Playoffs. Against the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI, Brady drove the Patriots 53 yards in the final two minutes, setting up the biggest kick of Adam Vinatieri's career - a 48-yarder for the title. Join NFL Films as they retell the story of the '01 Patriots, the club that launched a dynasty.

Former Patriots Wide Receiver and Super Bowl hero David Patten died at the age of 47 after a motorcycle accident. Head Coach Bill Belichick released a statement on Friday saying: “It breaks my heart to hear of David's tragic passing at such a young age,” said Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick. “I am grateful to have coached David. He is an essential person and player in Patriots history, without whom we would not have been Super Bowl champions. I especially appreciate David for his professional journey. As much as anyone, David epitomized the unheralded, self-made player who defied enormous odds to not only earn a job in the NFL but to become a key player on multiple championship teams. I can speak for anyone who had the pleasure to be around David that his work ethic, positive energy and character were elite. My deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones.” Patriots Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft said “I am heartbroken by the news of David's passing,...He was a devout Christian who followed his passion following his football career and founded his own ministry. David transitioned from an undersized and understated wide receiver to a powerful and passionate preacher. In New England, he will always be remembered as a three-time Super Bowl Champion. His touchdown reception in the AFC Championship game at Pittsburgh propelled the Patriots to Super Bowl XXXVI and I'll never forget his remarkable catch in the back of the end zone in that game. It was our only offensive touchdown in the Super Bowl and secured our first championship in franchise history. Our sincerest sympathies are with his wife, Galiena, his family and all who are mourning David's tragic and untimely death.” Watch the Video Version Here: https://youtu.be/VzM-8EK3zAU Follow Patriots CLNS and Evan Lazar on Twitter! @PatriotsCLNS & @ezlazar CLNS Patriots Coverage is Powered by BetOnline.ag, Use Promo Code: NFL100 for a 100% Welcome Bonus On Your First Deposit! Three Super Bowl Rings, Two Careers, One Approach to Doing Business: How Lonie Paxton Embodies The Patriot Way In New England, all the Super Bowl trophies, the Hall of Fame players and the stern look on Bill Belichick's face can be summed up in one mantra: The Patriot Way. Simply put, that means always doing your job at the highest level, whether you get any part of the glory or not. For our guest Lonie Paxton, that was especially true, as no one flies under the radar more than long snappers—unless, of course, you mess up. A 12-year NFL veteran, Paxton spent his first nine seasons in Foxborough, Mass., winning three Super Bowls. He was the long snapper on Adam Vinatieri's game-winning 48-yard field goal in Super Bowl XXXVI. (If you remember him at all, you might remember him as the lineman who sprinted downfield and pantomimed making snow angels in the end zone to celebrate.) Paxton, who spent the final three years of his NFL career in Denver, took his lunch-pail approach to football and applied it to pursuits off the field, building a successful career as an advisor and partner to companies including Red Bull and GoPro. In this week's episode of The Game Plan, he retraces that journey and explains how he never let the moment get too big—on the field or off. About The Game Plan The Game Plan is a weekly podcast hosted by venture capitalists Jay Kapoor and Tim Katt. The show features professional athletes and their business interests beyond sports. You can follow us on Twitter (@thegameplanshow) and Instagram (@gameplanshow) for show news and updates, to recommend guests, and for bonus content! In game 2 of Tom Brady’s second season with the New England Patriots, starting quarterback Drew Bledsoe suffered internal bleeding after a hit and almost died. The next man up was Brady, who had thrown three total passes in his rookie season—and completed only one. The Patriots were 0-2 at that point in the 2001 NFL season. Would they win a single game? Yes, in fact they would go on to win 14 games, including Super Bowl XXXVI.
Former Rams linebacker Tommy Polley and running back Arlen Harris breakdown the new team uniforms with Derek Ciapala. They discuss whether or not the uniforms fit in with tradition and where they rank among the uniform changes this season. Finally, Arlen says goodbye to a friend and Tommy relives Super Bowl XXXVI and connects it His Airness Michael Jordan.Credit: CFM Production https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIe5... provided by CFM: https://cfmfreemusic.com

(Austin Vidal and Ryan Mitchell) This week, Austy and Mitch recover from a wild weekend, where the AFC and NFC Championship games had both questionable calls and questionable non-calls. Also bringing to light their grips with the NFL's rules for overtime and while they should apply the college football OT system. With the Super Bowl next week, the boys give their predictions and betting odds on who will win in this full circle storyline. Who will win, the New England Patriots who have dominated the NFL since the turn of the century, or the Los Angeles Rams, the team that has climb their way out of years of mediocrity, and looking to defeat Brady in the Super Bowl. A rematch of Super Bowl XXXVI. In the NHL, Austy's Flames have been on fire who are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. Mitch gives praise to Flames coach Bill Peters for establishing a positive culture for the team, and Brad Treliving for acquiring talent and building stars out of Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan, and Matthew Tkachuk. God Is Good - Sunday, January 28, 2018 - Steve MillerWhat is good? The word "good" can have kind of a vague meaning. How do we define this word? Are these things good?· This dog is good. (obedient, friendly)· Pecan pie a la mode (using Bryers ice cream) is good. (desirable)· Adam Vinatieri's Super Bowl XXXVI game-winning field goal against the Rams was good. (accurate, successful) And like me, you probably feel that was definitely NOT good!· Captain America is good. (moral, virtuous, powerful)· Mozart was good. (talented)So what does it mean when we say that God is good?Mark 10:17-18Psalm 119:65-68Every week we say this truth about God's character: "God is good -- all the time! All the time -- God is good!" But what does it mean in our lives? Do we really know Him this way, as good?Bill Johnson - "Whenever God reveals something about His nature, it always comes with the invitation to know Him in that way. Never does the understanding of His nature come to us just to make us more theologically sound. That's important, but it is secondary. What's important is to know Him in that way, to encounter Him. So when He says, 'I'm your provider,' I don't want to walk away from that revelation without provision. When He says, 'I am your holiness,' I don't want to walk away the same way that I came in. I want to leave changed because I have encountered Him, and now relationally I come to know Him in that way."In both the Old Testament and New Testament, God revealed Himself to us as our Good Shepherd. Let's look at what His goodness is as He describes Himself in that role in our lives. At the same time, we want to pay attention to what that says about who we are in Christ.John 10:11-15 - 11“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. What makes Him good is His being willing to lay down His life for us.Because He has already demonstrated His goodness to us in this way, we can trust Him for all other matters in our lives:Romans 8:32Psalm 23 is one of the greatest descriptions of the goodness of God toward us. Let's look at it.Psalm 23:1-6 - 1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2He makes me lie down in green pastures.· Sheep that lie down are well fed and satisfied. The word used for "green" denotes new, fresh, or tender grass. He leads me beside still waters.· It's a place of peace, sustenance, and rest for His sheep.· Psalm 36:7-93He restores my soul.· Many things we encounter in life wound, damage, or discourage our souls. Our own sins cause damage, and the sins of others take their toll. He provides healing and restoration from both. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.· In so many situations and areas of life, we have no clue what is the best way to go or right choice to make.· Proverbs 3:5-6· Psalm 119:684Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;· Palestine is known for its gloomy and treacherous ravines. There is no denying that we will walk through dangerous and discouraging situations as we go through life. The encouragement and confidence we have is in knowing that He is with us and that He is good: capable, powerful, wise, righteous, desirable, and committed our best interests.· John 16:33your rod and your staff, they comfort me.· His rod comforts us in defending us against peril from enemies that may attack.· The old cartoon character Pogo famously said, "We have met the enemy, and he is us!"The Lord's staff comforts us from our own tendency to wander off the path and away from His guidance, provision, and protection. He is committed to keep pulling us back to His path and presence.5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;· This shows victory over the devil and the world, protection from attacks, overcoming persecution for Christ's name, loving your enemies, rejoicing in the midst of trials.· Romans 8:28· Story of Dimitri's Heart Song from The Insanity of God by Nik Ripken.you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.· We think of David, anointed king of Israel by Samuel many years before, waiting on the Lord while Saul was still alive and hunting David down to kill him. Yet God was with David and blessing him. Anointing with oil represents God's calling for us to minister, pouring out His Holy Spirit on us, and filling us with joy and gladness.· 1 Samuel 16:13· Isaiah 61:1-36Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,· The Hebrew word for "follow" here means to pursue or chase after, like a predator chases down the prey. Imagine - no matter what circumstances you go through - God always causes goodness and mercy to continually chase you down, no matter what difficulties or discouragement or fearful things you may encounter!and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.· We couldn't hope to dwell in God's house forever if He did not desire it.Ezekiel 34So since the Lord is our Good Shepherd, what does that say about who we are in Him?· He wants us to utterly depend on Him for all things in life.· He desires us to trust in Him, because He is good. Know He will not fail us nor abandon us.· We must feed on His rich Word and His presence, so that we will remain strong and grow.· We can face any difficulty with confidence and peace, knowing His goodness.· We must follow His leading on right paths. Even when we tend to stray, He knows how to pull us back on His way.· The anointing and blessing He provides for us should overflow to those around us. His goodness and mercy will follow us throughout our lives, even in the sense that those in our wake are blessed by His goodness as well.

15 years ago, the New England Patriots upstaged the “Greatest Show on Turf,” beating the then-St. Louis Rams to claim the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl victory. For the Patriots, it was the beginning of a dynasty. For the Rams, the show was over. While welcoming the now-Los Angeles Rams to Gillette Stadium for a Week 13 showdown, the Patriots will also —fittingly— celebrate the anniversary of the momentous occasion with a reunion of the Super Bowl XXXVI team and a halftime ceremony. In this week’s “Between the Tackles,” NESN.com’s Michaela Vernava talks with Patriots beat writers Doug Kyed and Zack Cox about the inception of the Tom Brady-Bill Belichick era, the reasons for the Rams’ quick decline, and whether or not the Patriots can avoid a similar collapse when Brady retires. Plus, Rachel Holt talks with Real Football Network’s Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan about the current state of the Rams and how they’ll match up with the Patriots.

The 2016 Rams season promises a ton of high drama: Jared Goff’s likely debut against the 49ers on Monday Night Football; the first regular season Rams game in Southern California since 1994 against the Seahawks; a trans-Atlantic voyage to take on the Giants in London on October 23; a reprise of Super Bowl XXXVI against the Patriots; and a New Year’s Day season finale against the division favorite, Arizona Cardinals. Joshua Neuman and Tunisha Singleton walk through the schedule and discuss the most iconic matchup that each game on the schedule calls to mind. Plus, Andrew Clayman of the Cleveland sports blog, WaitingForNextYear, on one of the most storied games in NFL history: the 1950 NFL Championship between the Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland Browns. Don’t miss this utterly timeless episode of the Greatest Show on Grass—because an NFL game lasts so much longer than 60 minutes.
