AI has been building for a long time, but its fair to say it has hit the mainstream over the last couple of years. Chat GPT - the automated AI assistant thingy - has been a big part of this. But AI's foray into music, and the moral, financial and legal implications that come with this have also been huge. AI builds its own knowledge by scouring data - this can be as wide as the entire internet, or as narrow as a specific phrase. The more data AI is exposed to, the more it learns and the more it is capable of. It's quite staggering what AI can do when it comes to music. We can hear Frank Sinatra 'singing' Get Low, or Linkin Park 'playing' the Pokemon theme song. The ability and capacity that AI is developing is staggering, and the more data and music it is exposed to, the stronger it will become We're pretty much already there, but the opportunities will be endless and basically without limitation Whether we like it or not, AI is set to become a mainstay in the music industry, we simply cannot ignore it This is already biggest disrupter to the music industry since MP3s or streaming - once all is said and done, it'll likely be seen as much bigger Enter Youtube: YouTube announced one of this year's most significant artificial intelligence developments in the music industry this week when it launched its new experimental AI feature that will allow select users to make song clips featuring AI-generated vocals of superstars including Demi Lovato, Sia, John Legend, Troy Sivan, Charli XCX etc. Dream Track officially launched Thursday as an early beta test available only to about 100 selected creators in the U.S., and YouTube has given no indication if or when the new feature would become widely available. YouTube announced several new AI music tools this week — including one in development that could help turn songwriters' thoughts into actual music just by humming an idea — though the voice clones were the most noteworthy feature. Both the labels and YouTube itself have been careful to emphasize that Dream Track is an experiment, and that it isn't immediately clear how the new feature will develop in subsequent months. But regardless of what happens next, Dream Track marks the first time some of the world's biggest artists and music companies have granted their music to be used for voice clones — one of the more controversial uses of AI in music creation — a significant step that could pave the way on how the industry handles the technology going forward. Jordan Joseph's life was forever altered by his grandfather's words of wisdom.“One of the richest places in the world is a cemetery,” Jordan recalls his grandfathersaying to him. “It is because so many ideas, songs, movies and books go unwritten,unheard or unseen. I didn't want to leave this world not having done the very thingthat's in my heart and I feel like I could change the world, to touch hearts andreinspire love at a time where we need it most. That alone changed everything forme.”Moved by his grandfather's lesson, Jordan dedicated himself to the very thing he'dbeen thinking about every day. The Michigan native decided to go all-in with hisbiggest dream, to become a singer.Although he grew up around music and had plans of being in a group, Jordan felt asthough it was his time to emerge as a solo artist. So, on April 22, 2017 (Earth Day)Jordan released the video for his cover of James Arthur's “Say You Won't Let Go.”Jordan had become enamored with Arthur's voice and gravitated to the song, whichhelped him get through a tough time in his life, which included a break-up.Jordan's next cover was of “There For You,” a Martin Garrix and Troy Sivan song. Helistened to the cut while he was working out and was thinking about the disasters inHouston and Florida, as well as the racial strife consuming America. Jordan took thisas a sign that the universe was trying to bring the world together through love, andnot have as much focus on politics and reality television.While the covers helped soothe his soul, Jordan hit his creative stride with his firstpiece of original material. For his lead single “Cruel Intentions,” Jordan had a poetrymoment where he had to stop and write about the last time he was in love. He builtthe song's lyrics from that poem, resulting in a stirring urban pop record with anR&B lean and a powerful story.“It's about your last true love no longer being in your life and dating someone else,”Jordan reveals. “Although you get over it, you miss them. For me, the record is verytrue. After the breakup I sang about, it took a very long time for me to get over it. Iwas still looking at social media late at night, still texting by accident, hoping for amoment to connect. I was still thinking about the last kiss, the last time we wereintimate. That's the record. It's about missing someone, missing the moment youhad the last time you were in love.”“Cruel Intentions” set the stage for Jordan's forthcoming EP, which he plans torelease soon.Born in Lansing, Michigan, Jordan has plenty of rich material from which to draw forhis poetry and his music. His biological father wasn't in his life as a child, and hewas in a near-fatal car accident when he was three months old. He was dead forseveral minutes, and doctors told his mother and grandmother that it was a miraclethat he was alive, that he wouldn't walk, talk, or live as a normal child. A scar on hishead is a daily reminder of the accident.But Jordan overcame the incident and fell in love with music. His stepfather was aproducer, and he and his family always had a studio in their house. Jordan lovedbeing in the studio with his stepfather and performing with his family.“I liked the idea of performing and having people watch,” Jordan explains. “As a kid,you don't think about the fear of it or being judged. There was so much freedom interms of getting in front of the family and signing and dancing all together.”As a kid, Jordan imagined himself in a group in order to insulate himself with thetype of love he didn't get from his real father. In school, he performed in musicalsand sang in both his church and high school choirs.But when his stepfather went to prison, Jordan's life fell apart. He stopped workingon music and left home. Setting up shop in Atlanta, he pursued acting and modeling.He then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career, but signed with a managerwho failed to deliver on his promises. This setback led Jordan to strike out on hisown as a solo artist. He thought he needed to fill the void of love and confidence hefelt by being in a group. Instead, he found that covering songs and now recording hisown material has proven to be the elixir he'd been seeking.“I always felt God's gift to me was my heart,” Jordan reveals. “It is so big and I'msupposed to keep sharing it. See here for full episode: patreon.com/aqnbIn this episode Steph speaks with Jack Latham, a musician and producer also known as Jam City, whose releases on the UK’s Night Slugs label in the 2010s were some of the best examples of a post-club sound that had come to define a generation of artists.After building a name for himself through this cross-Atlantic, post-dubstep amalgamation of grime and garage, hip-hop and bass music on Classical Curves in 2012, Jack’s follow-up record Dream a Garden in 2015 disavowed the slick high-definition and commercial aesthetics of his previous work in favour of a more critically lo-fi excursion into political thought and social activism. Since then, Jack has been working primarily as a producer, spending extended periods in Los Angeles to work with artist like Troy Sivan, Lil Yachty and Kelela. Pillowland meanwhile is his first solo release in five years, dropped through his own Earthly label and primarily concerned with looking back at the music of the past to see what it can teach us about the present.

Equally, Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing" get's an overhaul with Softmal's "I Believe In Miracles," which creates a sense of relevance and fun for today's listeners while keeping the bouncy playfulness of the original nearly intact. There are many others included here that go by different names, but you'll instantly recognize them once the chorus hits. Other tracks that I've been all over include AuRa and Camelphat's "Panic Room" and Sofi Tukker's playful disco-infused "Batshit" courtesy of Purple Disco Machine. With new tracks from P!nk, Sultan + Shepard, Vassy, Jonas Blue, Ariana Grande, Troy Sivan, and the song of the summer "I Like It" by Cardi B; it's almost like Christmas in summer. If you're looking for the amazing new Robyn track "Missing U" sorrow because the official remixes are not out yet other than a couple of bootlegs that don't come close to doing this fantastic track justice. As promised, Party Favorz is back with even more smoldering summer dance club tracks! We pick the hits, so you don't have to hunt for them on Spotify. Okay, that may be an overstatement, but we (meaning I) do my best to ensure you're getting the latest and greatest along with upcoming club tracks that are hitting my radar and wrapping them up in one tight continuous dance set. After all, who wants a bunch of random radio edits that fade in out? You can listen to the radio for free for that. Beach Party 2018 part 2 takes on a whole new direction in that not only did I include a multitude of current and upcoming hits but picked up some fun disco and house classics that have been reworked for today's dancefloor. It definitely keeps things interesting. For instance, KC & the Sunshine Band's "Get Down Tonight" has been entirely revamped and is currently blowing up just about every chart I've seen and rightfully so. Though it's a tad bit overcompressed (beyond my control), the disco original explodes with synths and heavy bass making it a perfect staple for a new generation. Equally, Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing" get's an overhaul with Softmal's "I Believe In Miracles," which creates a sense of relevance and fun for today's listeners while keeping bouncy playfulness of the original nearly intact. There are many others included here that go by different names, but you'll instantly recognize them once the chorus hits.
