Adam Shapiro, advocacy director at Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN) discusses the federal lawsuit filed against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) regarding admitting Israel to the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, stating that it is not following the law in applying the definition of reciprocity for Israel. The Waiver has also drawn strong pushback from 4 Democratic Senators who wrote that Israel has failed to meet the requirements of reciprocity for U.S. citizens with Palestinian residency.

The officials cannot travel to the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program or through a Visitor Visa. A week after Americans and Europeans joined together through virtual events in commemorating the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe (V-E Day 2020), remembering the significant sacrifices of an entire generation fighting for freedom against tyranny, the Croatian parliament co-organized an annual event honoring pro-Nazi Ustasha soldiers of the Independent State of Croatia a fascist regime which forged strong ties with Nazi Germany during the Second World War. On Saturday, May 16, 2020 in Sarajevo, Bosnia, the Croatian parliament sponsored an event to further fuel anti-Semitism and Holocaust revisionism in the Balkans. A separate event was held in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. During the Holocaust, 80% of Croatia’s Jews were murdered under the rule of the pro-Nazi Croatian Ustasha government. In Sarajevo alone, 7,000 out of 10,000 Jews were murdered under the rule of the Croatian Ustasha government. While these public events for May 2020 were reported in advance, the majority of Western diplomats residing in the capital city of Zagreb remained silent. The Western diplomatic appeasement tactic has emboldened Croatia’s anti-Semitic figures. The diplomatic corps using Western taxpayer funds continue to wine and dine Croatia’s politicians mired in corruption. EU and NATO member Croatia is dependent on American taxpayer funds through billions of dollars in direct aid, grants, and favorable loans via the World Bank, EBRD and other entities. How would Americans and Europeans respond if the modern-day Bundenstag — Germany’s parliament would sponsor an event commemorating Nazi soldiers and glorify Adolf Hitler and the country’s dark history? The West must not remain silent in the face of evil when facing Croatia’s anti-Semitic figures fueling Holocaust revisionism. Dr. Ognjen Kraus, president of The Coordination of Jewish Communities said, “The HDZ government has failed to address the rise of anti-Semitism and the display of fascist symbols. It is lenient towards those sympathetic to the WWII Croatian fascist Ustasha regime.” Over the years, Croatia’s politicians have used anti-Semitic laws to block the return of Jewish property and currency stolen during the rule of the Croatian Ustasha government from 1941–1945. Some $3 billion dollars worth of stolen private property and currency ought to be returned to Croatian Jewish families, their descendants and the Jewish community. A principled approach from the West should include legislative action to freeze all taxpayer funded aid sent to Croatia via EBRD, The World Bank and NATO related military assistance and to censure Croatia’s politicians. The US State Department ought to block the visit of Croatian politicians, anti-Semitic figures, and individuals tied to Croatia’s criminal and corrupt networks to enter the United States of America. Croatia’s government officials have been lobbying through Washingtom, D.C.-based groups including think tanks to expedite its entrance into the U.S. Visa Waiver Program. America’s elected officials should block Croatia’s entry into this special designated visa program. The US Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services ought to take a leadership role in carefully vetting visa applicants from Croatia. The world is watching. Principled leaders and engaged citizens within strong rule of law nations have a responsibility to act. Wiadomości dnia w Radio RAMPA – dzisiaj jest 24 września 2019 roku1)Polonia: Podczas poniedziałkowego spotkania Prezydentów USA i Polski w Nowym Jorku, Prezydent Donald Trump ogłosił, że Polska spełnia wymagania konieczne do włączenia jej do programu bezwizowego – Visa Waiver Program. “Trump get the things done,” Powiedział prezydent USA. Po raz pierwszy w historii, odsetek odmów wydania wiz B1/B2, czyli turystyczno-biznesowych w Polsce spadł poniżej 3%. Wymaganiem jest, aby odsetek odmów nie przekroczył 3% w danym roku podatkowym, a w przypadku USA rok ten zakończy się 30 września br. Wówczas decyzja stanie się oficjalna. In this eighth episode, we're thinking about visits—receiving family, friends, and others as guests. In terms of legal procedures, visiting the U.S. requires paperwork, fees, and interviews to apply for visitor visas. Depending on national laws and an applicant's travel documentation and history, we learned in our research for this episode that the structure and length of these processes vary greatly. We also learned about laws that regulate visits to the U.S. These date back centuries to the Naturalization Law of 1802 that first established the requirement for all entry into the U.S. to be recorded by the federal government. In 2004, the U.S. government instituted the Visa Waiver Program, which deems citizens of certain countries eligible to travel to the U.S. without a visa. As of 2019, laws around entry into the country undergo ongoing shifts. In this episode, we'll hear stories about hosting visitors after migrating to Queens and of relationships formed and changed through these travels. In the past few years, the world has seen the dramatic movement of Islamist terrorists to war zones around the world. While this is not a new phenomenon, the elevated level of terrorist travel to places like Syria and Iraq from many nations in Europe and North America was deeply concerning to many policymakers across the globe. Now as ISIS loses its last stronghold in Syria, similar concerns over returning terrorist fighters must be addressed. The U.S. led the way following 9/11 in its efforts to combat terrorist travel through intelligence sharing programs like the Visa Waiver Program and a revamped vetting system. Today we talk to former Congressman Richard Pombo, who is a partner at Gavel Resources, a consulting and lobbying firm in Washington, D.C. He tells the story of going from a farming family in the Central Valley in California to City Council of Tracey and from there running for Congress. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1992 and represented California’s 11th district until January of 2007. While in Congress he became the Co-Founder of the Portuguese-American Caucus and helped implement the Visa Waiver Program and the Tax Treaty. Under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), holders of passports from the following countries can travel to the U.S. for tourism or business visits of 90 days or less without a visa. Currently, 36 countries participate in the Visa Waiver Program, as shown below:Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom. All passport holders from these nations, however, must have machine readable passports and/or electronic passports to gain entry into the U.S. If a national from one of these countries does not meet the VWP passport requirement or other VWP requirements, they will have to seek a visa to visit the U.S. Applicants from Visa Waiver Program participant countries are advised that if their visa application is denied, they may no longer be eligible to participate in the Visa Waiver Program, which could complicate any plans to transit or return to the U.S.Note: Travel under the visa waiver program must be made by commercial airline or steamship line using a return or ongoing ticket. Persons arriving by private yacht cannot use the waiver program and must obtain a visa.
