After a delay of almost a year Ola Electric finally released its financials this week. The company was valued at $5 billion last year and so far it has raised nearly $800 million from investors, including Softbank. With a 40% market share, it is the leader of the two-wheeler EV market in India. It has already sold over 250,000 vehicles.Ola Electric has set up 600 experience centres around the country where people can go take test rides. But the company only has 200 service centres. Its lack of focus towards after-sales servicing is upsetting customers. Plus, the financials point towards a 4X loss in FY 2022.Meanwhile, its competitors like Ather and Bajaj are strategically going for a service-first policy.Tune in.RecommendationWhy $3 billion set aside for India's EV makers is sitting idleDaybreak is produced from the newsroom of The Ken, India's first subscriber-only business news platform. This episode is about Ather in my POV and my usage
Andrew Bolt Bros was on an interview with Josh Palmer and he wanted to review the notes from the call. He talked about the majority of questions that were asked and he mentioned that the conversation gave insight into what the charters are potentially going to do offensively in the upcoming season. He also told a funny story about his time driving from Arizona to Utah, where he hit a pothole on the freeway and had to get a flat tire. He gave a few updates about his brother James being in Sedona and Kyle being in Utah, and highlighted a few interesting signings, specifically the one with Brendan Fehoko to the Steelers. The conversation discusses the current situation of two players from the chat group, a wide receiver Mike Bandy signed to the Houston Roughnecks in the XFL, and Josh Palmer, a Charger player. The group is discussing Josh Palmer's recent interview with one of the podcasters, UCF Jag. The internet connection was bad, but the interviewer was able to glean information about the offense and what it's going to look like. The group then questions the details of Justin Herbert's new contract, and whether he is able to take the team to a franchise deal. Hafe joins the conversation and the group is ready to discuss the interview with Josh Palmer. In a recent interview with Josh Palmer, he discussed various tidbits about himself, such as his hobbies and his pre-game warmup routine. He also shared how he enjoyed battling with opposing defensive backs, but did not mention any names. People asked him what he was looking for this upcoming season, to which he replied that he wanted memorable games and for the team to stay healthy. Palmer also revealed that he hangs out with fellow draft class members Trey McKinney, Mike, and Keenan. Lastly, he provided insight into the team's plan for the upcoming season, which he was very excited to share. Robert, James and Ather asked Josh Palmer of the Los Angeles Chargers a variety of questions about the upcoming NFL draft and his insights into the Chargers' locker room. He revealed that Jalen Hyatt recently showed up at the same training facility in Fort Lauderdale, Florida that he was currently at. When asked what it takes to be a good rookie in the NFL, he stated that it was important to have veteran players around to help and learn from. He then went on to praise the unselfishness of the Chargers' locker room, and mentioned how Brandon Staley and Kellen Moore were both excellent coaches. He also spoke positively about the offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore. Through this conversation, it was clear that Josh Palmer had a positive outlook for the Chargers and their upcoming draft picks. Serendipity usually plays a huge role in entrepreneurship. It played an outsized role in Tarun Mehta's journey to founding Ather Energy, easily India's best-known electric scooter maker. When Mehta graduated from IIT Madras, he wanted badly to become a consultant because it was where the money and aura was. But he didn't get a job as a consultant. Then he tried to get into Harvard Business School for an MBA, but that didn't pan out either.Instead, he ended up at Ashok Leyland, a maker of buses and trucks. It took four months after he joined for Mehta to be allocated a computer of his own. During that time, he'd walk around and find a computer belonging to someone who hadn't come to office. Or he'd walk through its sprawling Chennai campus and read books in its library. Of course, his salary wasn't high by any standards. The low salary and lack of any meaningful work allowed Mehta to drift back to the IIT Madras campus he'd graduated from. After convincing a professor of their desire to build battery packs, Mehta and his co-founder Swapnil Jain, moved to an empty hostel room to start building things.Building hard things. That's the origin story of Ather Energy, the company that started out wanting to build battery packs, but ended up doing multi-year deep dives to re-imagine virtually every part of an electric scooter. This stubbornness would bring Ather Energy to the brink of death five times.Today, Ather sells over 10,000 electric scooters in India. Next year, it wants to double that number. And then some more.Tarun speaks at length about his journey to convince investors of his vision; doing hard things that defied common sense; building an organisation over decades; and why it takes at least three years to make a true impact at work.If you'd rather (or perhaps also) read than listen, we have published the full transcript for this interview on our website. » Pour 1 500 euros, ce scooter électrique « made in India » offre 100 kilomètres d'autonomie.
