In this episode, Marcus speaks with Avner Baruch about the invisible costs of misalignment in go-to-market functions and why focusing on traditional sales metrics like ARR and conversion rates often misses the point. Avner shares his journey into sales enablement and how it led him to develop a methodology called Project Moneyball, which digs beneath surface metrics to uncover the real issues. By factoring in soft skills, time management, and process adoption, this approach helps teams identify problems much earlier, often during onboarding, rather than waiting months for reports to catch up. Key Themes Explored:

In this episode of Skin Anarchy, host Dr. Ekta dives into the future of fragrance with the founders of iRomaScents, Avner Gal and Erin Berry, and celebrated perfumer Veronique Gabai. Together, they explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the way we discover and connect with scent—bringing personalization and clarity to an industry long defined by overwhelm and subjectivity.Avner and Erin share the origin story of iRomaScents, a platform designed to make fragrance discovery intuitive, accessible, and data-driven. What began as a dream to integrate scent into immersive experiences evolved into a cutting-edge solution to one of beauty's most frustrating problems: finding your perfect perfume. The result is an AI-powered “wizard” that uses lifestyle cues and emotional patterns—like your favorite colors or songs—to guide users to scent profiles they'll actually love.Veronique Gabai lends her industry insight to explain how this technology enhances, rather than replaces, the emotional artistry of perfumery. With scent linked so deeply to our reptilian brain, she explains, it's no wonder we struggle to articulate preferences—iRomaScents helps bridge that gap by refining, not replacing, human instinct. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by a perfume counter or struggled to put your preferences into words, this episode offers a glimpse into a smarter, more intuitive future. Tune in to learn how iRomaScents is reshaping fragrance discovery—one personalized algorithm at a time.CHAPTERS:(0:00) Introduction to the Episode and iRomaScents(1:10) The Concept Behind iRomaScents and Integrating AI into Fragrance(3:04) Avner's Journey from Engineering to Fragrance(4:38) Erin's Perspective on the Challenges of Choosing Fragrance(7:05) Veronique's Take on the Future of the Fragrance Industry(9:34) The Power of AI in Personalizing Fragrance Selection(12:05) Creating the AI Algorithm and Observing Consumer Behavior(15:23) How AI Helps Narrow Down Fragrance Preferences(21:13) Veronique's Advice on Connecting with Fragrance and Closing ThoughtsTo learn more about iRomaScents, visit their website and social media, or to learn more about Vernoique Gabai, visit her website and social media. Today's daf is sponsored by Blima Shorchein in loving memory of her mother, Mazal (Tina) bat Rina and David. When King Shlomo executed Yoav ben Tzruya, what was his legal justification? The Gemara details a series of trials: First, Shlomo tried Yoav for killing Avner ben Ner, but Yoav defended himself by claiming it was justified vengeance for Avner's murder of his brother Asael. Next, Shlomo tried him for the killing of Amasa ben Yeter, but again Yoav provided justification for his actions, as Asael rebelled against the king. Finally, Shlomo tried him for an unambiguous crime - joining Adonijah's rebellion against King David - and it was for this act of treason that Yoav was ultimately executed. While the Gemara demonstrates that Yoav's execution was legally justified, it also acknowledges that he possessed notable positive qualities. Regarding the four death penalties prescribed by the Jewish courts: What is their hierarchical order in terms of severity? Which is considered the most severe and which the least? When we find lists of items or actions in the Mishna presented in a specific order, should we understand this ordering as deliberately meaningful or merely incidental?

Which leads into the treatment of the mishnah and the way it presents this information (and other) directly.

Today's daf is sponsored by the Hadran Women of Long Island in honor of the birth of a grandson to our friend and co-learner Suri Davis. "May she and her family enjoy much nachat from the new arrival as he grows l'Torah (& daf), l'chupa and l'maasim tovim, and may his birth be the harbinger of smachot for all." Palti ben Layish is praised for refraining from relations with Michal, his wife, as she was still married to King David. His self-restraint is considered greater than Joseph and Boaz, who also overcame their desires. Regarding unique laws pertaining to kings: Their mourning practices are distinct. A king does not leave his palace to attend burials. However, Rabbi Yehuda challenges this, citing that King David accompanied Avner ben Ner's body. The rabbis explain that David did this specifically to prove to the people that he had not ordered Avner's death. During the seudat havra'a (mourner's meal), while the people sit on the floor, the king sits on a dargash. The Gemara presents two interpretations of what constitutes a dargash. The first interpretation is rejected. Concerning funeral processions, there is a question about whether women should follow or precede the bier. The rabbis defer to local custom, while Rabbi Yehuda cites King David's example to prove that women should walk in front. The rabbis' response to his proof is discussed. For what action was Avner punished? Rav explains that Avner could have protested King Saul's decision to kill the inhabitants of Nov (or King Saul's many attempts to kill David) but failed to do so. Rabbi Yitzchak contends that Avner did protest, but Saul did not listen. According to this interpretation, his sin was crowning Ish Boshet as king, which delayed David's reign over all of Israel by two and a half years. The requirement that a king must obtain permission from the Great Sanhedrin before engaging in optional warfare is restated here, despite being mentioned in the first chapter of Sanhedrin. A king has the right to create a path through private property. During wartime, when spoils are collected, the king claims his portion first, before the people may take their share. Shmuel and Rav debate whether a king is permitted to exercise all the powers that the prophet Shmuel warned about when the people requested a king (taking their sons, cattle, etc.). Was this a genuine description of royal prerogatives, or merely a warning to instill fear of the monarchy? This discussion parallels a debate between the tannaim Rabbi Yosi and Rabbi Yehuda. Rabbi Nehorai offers a third view: Shmuel's words were meant to discourage the request for a king. Rabbi Eliezer takes a middle ground, suggesting that while the elders' request for a king was appropriate, the amei haaretz sought one for improper reasons—to emulate other nations. Rabbi Yehuda and Rabbi Yosi explain that upon entering the land, the Jews received three commandments: to establish a king, to destroy Amalek, and to build the Beit haMikdash. Rabbi Yosi derives this sequence from verses in the Tanach. King Solomon initially ruled over both the celestial and terrestrial realms, but his marriage to non-Jewish wives diminished his authority in both spheres. There is disagreement about whether he regained his full authority after his downfall.

Parshas Hazinu is one of the most fascinating, poetic, and richly profound Parshas in the Torah. It is also arguably the most mysterious one. The majority of the Parsha is the Song of Haazinu, an intricate tapestry of prophecies that encapsulate the grand scope of Jewish history. The commentators on this Parsha strive to even understand the basic meaning of its words. In this penultimate episode of the 8th cycle of the Parsha podcast, focus on the commentary of the Ohr HaChaim. While we don't go through the entirety of his magisterial commentary, we select five magnificent comments from this work. What we discover is an absolutely profound study of scope and depth and insight. I could think of know no finer way to end the Parsha podcast year of 5784 than to plumb into the depth of this song as explained by the legendary Ohr Hachaim.– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –This Parsha Podcast is dedicated in honor of our parents Drs. David and Susanne Gelb from the Gelb, Goldman and Shacknofsky families. Wishing them and all of Klal Yisrael a Shana Tova Umetuka, a good and sweet New Year. May this learning also be in merit of Meshulam ben David, Shayndel bat David, Avner ben Avraham HaCohen and Avraham ben Menachem Mendel HaKohen may their Neshamas have an Aliyah. – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –DONATE to TORCH: Please consider supporting the podcasts by making a donation to help fund our Jewish outreach and educational efforts at https://www.torchweb.org/support.php. Today on The LA Food Podcast, is Langer's closing for good? Is Chick-Fil-A going to save Hollywood? And does JD Vance even know what a donut is?  Father Sal is physically with us in Los Angeles today to discuss all this and more. We recap all of the amazing food he's had in LA this week, from a beachside South American feast to an all-time steak dinner in Beverly Hills. I have him try the viral Ggiata Chicken Caesar Wrap live on the air, and we give a special shout out to our two biggest fans in LA.  In Part 2 we're joined by Chef Avner Levi, the man behind Cento Pasta Bar in West Adams. Cento remains one of my favorite meals I've had all year, and Avner's story is inspiring as hell. We chatted on Cento's patio with a bottle of wine and, I don't know if it was the alcohol or what, but I was legitimately moved by Avner's passion and vision for Cento.  Helpful links: Our free newsletter LA FOODSTACK, where you'll find most of the articles we referenced today https://thelacountdown.substack.com/ Avner Levi on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/glutton_ish/ Cento Pasta Bar https://www.cento.group/ The LA Food Podcast is produced with the help of: Adam Skaggs Tiffany Perez Tim Bertolini -- Get 10% off at House of Macadamias using code "LAFOOD" https://www.houseofmacadamias.com/pages/la-foods -- Get 10% off on your first purchase of wagyu beef at First Light Farms using code "LAFOOD10" https://www.firstlight.farm/us/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thelafoodpodcast/support
