Hollywood's obsession with anime strikes again! This time, Bakugan, the legendary anime with over 300 episodes, a hit card game, and a billion-dollar toy empire, is getting the live-action treatment. Directed, written, and produced by Brad Peyton known for Rampage, this ambitious adaptation comes from Spin Master Entertainment, the team behind PAW Patrol. Peyton promises a cinematic spectacle worthy of Bakugan's epic universe. Fans can also rejoice as the creators aim to honour its devoted, multi-generational fanbase while wooing new audiences. With heavyweights like My Hero Academia, Naruto, and One Punch Man also in the live-action pipeline, anime lovers are truly thriving!

Pero mientras tanto entre tanto sueño Críptico, aprendemos qué paso con Kaladin, hace su aparición el primer Cantamundos que no es Josep, Taylor Swift en velero, Adolin busca duelo y Lour recuerda los Bakugan.

In this special live episode recorded at Gen Con 2024, I share key lessons from my 20 years in the game industry, including insights from working with industry legends like Richard Garfield and designing major games like Ascension, Shards of Infinity, Bakugan, and SolForge Fusion. Here are some key takeaways:* Emotional Impact: Pay close attention to how games make players feel. Player experience is the most important metric for a game.* Set Deadlines: Setting deadlines and doing your best to hit them will change your life—deadlines are magic.* Core Design Loop: Focus on regular iteration and refining ideas.* Community: Building solid relationships with other creators is essential for growth. Always ask what value you can add, and you'll be headed in the right direction. If these ideas resonate with you, join my Think Like A Game Designer Mastery Course to receive hands-on guidance and turn your game ideas into reality. Major toy companies like Spin Master, Mattel, and Hasbro have all been expanding their influence beyond traditional toys for many years. Spin Master, in particualr, is known for launching popular entertainment properties like PAW Patrol and Bakugan, which have seamlessly transitioned into digital formats in the form of TV series, movies, and video games. Spin Master has also been unafraid to acquire properties when it sees a strategic opportunity, such as its 2016 acquisition of Toca Boca, the children's mobile app developer. Today, host David Taylor sits down with Yves Saada, the Head of Strategic Partnerships at Spin Master, to better understand its place at the intersection of toys, video games, and entertainment more broadly. We cover Spin Master's success in mobile games, as well as Roblox, and how that fits into Spin Master's broader strategy as a toy company. We'd also like to thank Lightspeed Venture Partners for making this episode possible! With its dedicated gaming practice, "Lightspeed Gaming," the firm is investing from over $7B in early- and growth-stage capital — the by far largest fund focused on gaming and interactive technology. Ronnen Harary built a 4 billion dollar toy company without relying on market research or focus groups. Instead, he believed wholeheartedly in intuition: the "ah-hah" moment that comes from thinking like a 7-year old. Over a 25-year period, he and his Spin Master partners launched innumerable hit toys and amusements, including Air Hogs, Bakugan, and the smash hit franchise PAW Patrol. Spin Master's journey began in the mid-1990s, when Ronnen and his friend Anton Rabie began selling the Earth Buddy, a chia-pet-like novelty gift made of pantyhose, sawdust, and grass seed. Today, it's a publicly traded company with a portfolio that includes TV shows, video games, and toys ranging from puzzles to plush. This episode was produced by Casey Herman, with music by Ramtin ArabloueiEdited by Neva Grant, with research help from Claire Murashima. You can follow HIBT on X & Instagram, and email us at hibt@id.wondery.com.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Send us a Text Message.Ever wondered how a children's show can spiral into a labyrinth of absurdities? Buckle up for a riotous review of "Bakugan Battle Brawlers" as we roast its many inconsistencies and hilariously botched attempts to mimic Pokemon and Digimon. From the bizarre premise to the comedic villain Masquerade, we leave no stone unturned in our critique. Plus, don't miss our special conversation with the incredibly versatile actor Francois Chow, whose IMDB profile is as impressive as it is long. We'll also let you know where to find us on social media, so you never miss an update!Next, we unpack the emotional rollercoaster that is the finale of Daniel Craig's James Bond era. Does the controversial new 007 live up to the hype? We explore Bond's ultimate sacrifice, the fresh dynamics introduced, and the polarizing reception to a black woman stepping into the iconic number. And that's not all—we shift gears to discuss the latest buzz in movie news, from Guy Ritchie's live-action "Hercules" to Todd Howard's much-anticipated sequel to "Joker," starring Joaquin Phoenix. Finally, join us for a trip down nostalgia lane as we speculate about new TV shows and movie sequels, including a spirited comparison of two upcoming Pinocchio movies. We also geek out over the retro gaming gem "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge" and share some laughs with a quiz on classic TV show theme songs. To cap it all off, we give you a sneak peek at our next trivia segment focusing on the first three seasons of "The Walking Dead." Alex and Richard of the Anime Egotists create their own unique Bakugan! Bakugan doesn't get nearly as much love as Yugioh or Pokémon, but it has a very special place for some fans! And after having rewatched the very first season, the boys decided to create their own Partner Bakugan. Since everyone in the show seems to have one, the boys are joining in! Ability cards, personalities, and even evolutions are on the table! What type of Bakugan would you create? Embark on a genre-defying journey as we grapple with the animated enigma that is "Avatar: The Last Airbender"—is it truly a Western cartoon, or does its soul beat with the heart of anime? In our latest Senpai of Someguy episode, we tear down the walls of categorization, venturing deep into the stylistic mélange that makes shows like "Avatar," "One Piece," and "Bakugan" beloved across the globe. Even the mighty merchandising machine behind these series comes under our discerning eye, as we frolic through the labyrinth of what truly defines a cartoon versus an anime.Remember the good old days of Zoids and the dreaded un-rewound VHS tapes? We sure do, and we're bringing all that nostalgic goodness front and center. Our chat navigates the cultural crossroads of "Z-Laniels," that micro-generation straddling the line between Millennials and Gen Z, while we joyously rekindle memories of video store visits. It's not just about the past, though; we're also looking ahead, speculating on the anime treatment of Western superheroes with a sparkle in our eyes.Studio Ghibli films—timeless classics or cinematic puzzles waiting to be solved? We're not shying away from the tough questions as we delve into Ghibli's masterpieces, examining how their narratives and animation styles can sometimes pose a delightful challenge. We throw a critical eye on AI-generated art and consider the profound soul that hand-crafted animation brings to our screens, teasing our curiosity for the upcoming film "Suzume." But what the fuck is a Bakugan?
Throughout the entire month of December, we are in the spirit of celebrating with an entire month dedicated to covering what everybody associates with the holidays...ANIME!!!! Specifically, CanaDUBcember is an entire month spotlighting the exciting cross-cultural exchange of the anime boom in the early-to-late 2000s and the still felt effects it had on the media landscape. Not just officially licensed dubs produced here in Canada, but how Canada took a hands on approach to capitalizing on a popular culture shift through co-productions, anime inspired aesthetics, and tons of other surpriseses. We are kicking off the month with a "classic" in the "solely produced to sell toys and card games" of 2000s anime. The underwhelming, incomprehensible, and heavily dated Yu-Gi-Oh/Beyblade coattail rider somehow produced in part by our friends at Nelvana - Bakugan Battle Brawlers. Episode covered for the podcast is Episode 1 "Bakugan: The Battle Begins." Directed by Mitsuo Hashimoto. Original Canadian airdate February 24, 2008. In about 2012, I attended my first VO conference in Toronto. I decided to attend after I had a coaching intensive with superstar puppeteer & actor John Tartaglia in NYC. Long story short, I wanted to see if I could pursue my dream of being on “Sesame Street” -and I thought John could possibly help. It was a great session, but about an hour into it, I realized that puppeteering is a skillset that takes a lot of time and training and that it might already be too late in my life to learn and master it. So, John suggested that I stick to VO and referred me to Sunday Muse – who just happens to be my special guest today!! I had the chance to meet Sunday at that first VO conference I ever attended in Toronto because she was a guest speaker! Shortly after that, I took some animation VO coaching sessions with her and the rest is history!!Sunday Muse is the Founder/Creative Manager & Inspiratrice of Great Big Voices. She excels in helping people manifest their dreams into reality and communicate authentically to the world. She is a singer, celebrity voice over actress, author, holistic voice coach & speaker. Her movement & voice over workshops have been featured in the Huffington Post. She has been a featured speaker and taught voice & movement across North America at NYU, Mallorca Holistic Retreat, National Theatre School, Covenant House, Children's Theatre Company NYC, JCC NYC, Randolph Academy, MAVO & VO Atlanta. She was nominated for a Voice Arts Award for Best Voiceover in an Animation Series through the Society of Voice Arts in L.A and is a proud recipient of the MAVO Muse Award. Her leading voice acting credits include: HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA, SOPHIE, BAKUGAN, TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND, ABBEY HATCHER, JIMMY 2 SHOES, ARTHUR, ROLIE POLIE OLIE, CARE BEARS, ODD JOB JACK, JANE & THE DRAGON, TIME WARP TRIO, CAILLOU, WILLA'S WILDLIFE and dozens of radio/tv commercials. For more info about Sunday Muse or to connect with her, visit her websites at https://www.sundaymuse.com/ & https://greatbigvoices.com/Sunday Muse will be appearing at "Mini MAVO2020" on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8.
