Golf. It's a sport enjoyed by millions of people and it can also be almost as divisive as modern politics. Can it only be enjoyed by the landed gentry and the country club set? Turner Lewis doesn't think so and he's out to prove the haters wrong with Fore Craft Cocktails, a line of RTDs designed for the golf course but, as tested by our boundary-pushing hosts, also thoroughly drinkable off of one. The brand founder sits down with Greg and Sother to talk about getting a cocktail line up and running in less than a year (and during a pandemic no less) why he had to drive a rental truck overnight from Wisconsin to Virginia, and what he thinks about ruining a good walk. Plus, Greg has a golf course encounter of his own to share. Tune in to hear about it! Follow Fore on Instagram at @forecraftcocktails Love The Speakeasy but wish there was more? No matter what you think of RTDs, you can't argue with the convenience factor - a fact that has driven the sector into a meteoric rise since COVID. Although figures show that the sector is beginning to plateau, the premium end of the category is still seeing growth and a demand for new variations. One such premium brand that has been making its mark is Australia's Curitif - a brand that believes its expressions empower consumers to redefine their occasions. With a luxury, high-end image, the brand seeks to constantly express its core values of quality, convenience, and sustainability. To find out more about this, we talked to the brand's founder, Matt Sanger, about cocktails, the future of the category, and a shiny, new expression the brand is about to release.

Which Moscow Mule is best? We start this episode by trying two different candy bars who have offered up a new cookie dough flavor (Milky Way and Twix). Later we get to the main attraction of trying out some premade Moscow mules in a can. Welcome to the Boozebuddy Update. For you Boozebuddies today I have - Slingers Canned Cocktails, Black and Tan & Keg Kings Slingers Canned Cocktails are set to deploy from Boston Beer Company. It's a malt-based beverage coming in a 24-ounce can and three flavors - Bahama Mama, Peach Screwdriver, and Pineapple Punch. The Slingers Signature Cocktails with 8% ABV will initially release in New Hampshire, Cleveland, & Pittsburgh. If it goes well, expect this to be released in more areas - or fizzle out. Get more on the new approach and product at the link https://tinyurl.com/2c86grtg Black and Tan. The beer-based cocktail has a bit of a controversy, so sometimes referred to as a Half & Half. It's two beers in one, answering the question of ‘which beer?' with ‘why not both!'. You pour the lighter beer in first, and then very gently and slowly pour the dark half over the backside of a spoon. Don't mix the two & get a nice defined layer of each and you've done it. Grab your bestie, because this week we're excited to introduce you to Crave Nature's Eatery, located in Lawrenceville, NJ. The health-conscious spot was co-created by four dynamic women, one of whom joined us on the show! Samanta Filip, the co-creator and Operations Manager of Crave, sat down for a fun discussion of their delicious menu and cool events coming up this month! So if you're looking for a flavorful way to enjoy some healthy bites, tune in (and check out) Crave Nature's Eatery-and maybe dance off some dessert at their adjoining Viva Ballroom Dance Fitness studio! We then swayed over to a hip spot that just opened in B-Town Philly. Co-Owner Derek Gibbons joined us to talk about Brewerytown Food Hall, the newest concept founded under Glu Hospitality. Brewerytown Food Hall is a multi-level space which offers a selection of cuisines from several of their restaurants. When you visit, you can look forward to a family-friendly environment, complete with games, a lounge area, food from Hunnie's Fried Chicken, Figo Pizzaria, 1225 RAW, and so much more! So while the kiddos are at play, grab something to eat and your favorite cocktail, and soon your four-legged friends can join in on the fun too! Speaking of joining in--one of the world's most-loved cocktails is now a breeze to make! Bloody Mary's are a thing of cocktail beauty, albeit the outcome depends on whomever makes it. Our last guest, Charlton Gronlund, took all the guesswork out of creating the perfect Bloody's in a ready-to-drink can! Bar2Table, which is co-owned by Gronlund and his partner, Scott Allen came up with the concept while traveling for work. The sub-par offerings on planes and inconsistent tasting profiles from various bars/restaurants had his mental wheels turning, so the pair came up with a shelf-stable (for a year) cocktail that tastes phenomenal, without any hassle or waste of ingredients. Now I call that a hole-in-one!
We took it north of the border this week and tried some classic Crown Royal whiskey in some less than classic cans. Lemon and cola, how can you go wrong? I'm sure we'll find a way. What's up, party people? Dry County Brewing Co. is about the celebrate their 6th anniversary. We've known founder Trey Sinclair since the brewery was just a dream. Well, mostly. We met Trey when he was contract brewing a couple beers and spreading the word about them around his hometown. When the brewery was just being built we stopped by for a preview. Check it out right here.... https://youtu.be/_VeAUJv2th4 Since our preview way back in 2016 DCBC has expanded to offer spirits and cider along with their brews and they're about to move to a fancy new location. On the spirit side they've got frozen cocktails in the taproom and a line of RTDs (that's "ready to drink" canned cocktails) that are extremely popular. Trey joined us and brought along Director of Hoperations Winn Chastain and Head Brewer Ryan Polk. They shared some of their beers and cocktails as we bitched more about seasonal creep, pondered pairings for their Lechuza line of Mexican lagers, discussed the growing trend back towards more West Coast(ish) IPAs and discussed the agave shortage. Get the full story at https://thewhiskeywash.com/whiskey-styles/bourbon/spirited-hive-launches-with-new-line-of-premium-ready-to-drink-craft-cocktails/ I just told you yesterday how the Detroit Free Press called 2022 the year of the lager and it's looking like there might be some truth to lager having a moment this year. It's a trend that's bucking the hazy-bois, adjuncts, and barrel-aged beers we've come to see regularly and present craft beer fans a crisp, clean, and apparently crushable beverage option. While they name-drop cult beers like Heady Topper, I'm not yet seeing people driving hundreds of miles to pick them up… yet. But - could we see that happen soon? Maybe. Or maybe people are just hungry for a great locally made beer that drinks well - wherever they are. Though people are now referring to them as crispy-bois https://vinepair.com/articles/lager-focused-breweries/ The frigid northeast temps are being avoided by some - but not by all. Including grapes! In fact, it seems a labor of love for the Lane Family in South Hero Vermont. Snow Farm Vineyard makes what are known as ice wine. It's a unique wine that is made with grapes that are left on the vine -- usually until December as it needs cold temperatures. In fact, if it's too warm the grapes will rot - so the colder the better! It's also much sweeter than typical wine. When you think of sangria, what comes to mind? A summer-only quaff? A punch made with cheap wine (and fruit to mask its flavor)? A deliciously balanced cocktail? Sangria has been all of those things, and more. And we're diving in to talk about it in this week's podcast. To help, we've enlisted Lost Whale owners Dan Beres and Tripper Duval to chat with us about the release of their brand new canned beverage, Odyssea Sangria, a new product which is slated to hit store shelves this week. During our conversation, we discuss the variables that make a good sangria, the approach they took to creating an accessible, wine-forward version of the punch, and the elements that can make or break it.Along the way, we get a mini lesson in the classic punch, from its origins in Spain and journey to the U.S. to the way its flavor profile has evolved over time, becoming one of the world's most imbibed party drinks.
