Back from our summer break, Danielle finally graces everyone with the finale to the 2020 book The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. When we last left Coriolanus, he was being called in to rescue Sejanus from the big bad Hunger Games where he was determined to kill himself to make a statement; Coriolanus won't let him, which in retrospect was perhaps a stupid decision. Anyway, things go awry and pretty soon everyone in the Hunger Games has died except, shockingly, Lucy Gray, thanks to some minor, very valid, totally explainable cheating on Coriolanus's part. Unfortunately, Dr Gaul, Sam's favorite punching bag, doesn't see it that way. Given that Dr Gaul is crowd-sourcing ideas on why they even have the Hunger Games, it shocks Sam that she sends her brightest student off to live in obscurity as a Peace Keeper in retribution. But alas, plot. This is about where Danielle gave up writing Coriolanus in her notes and started calling him Corio. So, Corio cruises over to District 12 where he meets up with the true hero of the novel, Lucy Gray, where they promptly pick up where they left off but with kissing. Unfortunately, finally being able to compare Corio to regular humans, you realize he's incredibly stupid and not getting any smarter. Then Lucy sings too many songs, Corio kills too many people, and pretty soon they're running away to escape being framed for murder. Murder Corio committed, to be clear, but it was really minor, very valid, and totally explainable so it hardly counts. Then the bad guys win because Hunger Games. The end.

Smart Property Investment's Phil Tarrant and Pure Property Investment's Paul Glossop return with a fresh edition of the FAST 50 report, revealing the top suburbs for property investment in 2026. Victoria is making a strong comeback in the property market, with 13 suburbs included in the 2026 FAST 50 report, up from just one last year. While recent performance in Victoria has been sluggish, signs of momentum are emerging, with Melbourne recording four straight months of capital growth.  Suburbs in Ballarat and Geelong, like Wendouree, Corio, and Alfredton, are showing promise due to affordability and proximity to Melbourne.  Despite low cash flow returns and median rents averaging under $500, the long-term fundamentals, including population growth and migration, support a positive outlook. Paul acknowledges the risk of entering early but stresses that the long-term upside could be significant. He also notes the unusual trend of Melbourne prices lagging behind Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide – a signal of future correction.  Download your FREE copy of the FAST 50 2026 report here. Although its planning application remains live, and its latest objector is the great Tommy Tiernan(!), Fuinneamh Sceirde Teoranta's plans for a 450mw offshore windfarm off the coast of Clare and Galway is not going ahead. Corio, the company behind the development have halted the €1.4bn plans citing environmental challenges that and site investigations indicating the location meant the windfarm would not be resilient enough during an extreme weather event. The 30 proposed turbines were due to a have maximum tip height of 325m and were predicted to generate enough power for 350,000 homes along with a community benefit fund of €70m over the next 20 years. Specifically to Clare, works included grid connection cables at Doonbeg and an electrical compensation compound near Killimer. Kilrush Independent Councillor Ian Lynch has been reacting to the news, and he's been telling Clare FM's Daragh Dolan he's worried about the connotations this could have for other projects in Clare in the near future... Today, we're honored to have with us Jonathan Cole, a visionary leader in the global offshore wind industry. and a key figure driving the transition to sustainable energy. Jonathan is the CEO of Corio Generation, a global offshore wind powerhouse, launched in April of 2022. As a portfolio manager of Macquarie Asset Management operating independently, Corio has quickly established itself as a major player in the renewable energy sector. Under Jonathan's leadership, Corio has amassed one of the world's largest offshore wind development portfolios, boasting over 30 gigawatts of projects in various stages of development across Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Americas. Jonathan's influence extends far beyond his role at Corio. He currently serves as the chairman of the Global Wind Energy Council, GWEC. and his industry expertise has been recognized through numerous leadership positions. Jonathan Cole: Yeah, it's a busy time for offshore wind and busy time for me, particularly. And I was in New York last week really with two hats on. One was with my Corio CEO hat on because we've got a big project out there in New York Attentive Energy. So I was spending some time with the team out there and hearing all the great work they're doing. And this is your News Flash. News Flash is brought to you by our friends at IntelStor. If you want market intelligence that generates revenue, then book a demonstration of IntelStor at IntelStor.com. Australian utility giant AGL Energy has announced a major acquisition, agreeing to purchase two domestic renewable energy developers, battery storage specialist Firm Power and solar farm developer Terrain Solar for 250 million Australian dollars. This deal will add an impressive 8. 1 gigawatts to AGL's development pipeline, bringing their total to over 14 gigawatts. The acquisition includes 6. 1 gigawatts of battery storage projects across five states, 1. 8 gigawatts of solar schemes, and 250 megawatts of onshore wind project in New South Wales. AGL CEO Damian Nix emphasized that this high quality pipeline will help firm renewable energy generation as thermal baseload generation exits the national electricity market. Now Phil There's been a lot of discussion most recently in Australia about removing natural gas and other forms of thermal energy from the electricity grid. This makes a lot of sense for AGL to step into the void, right? Philip Totaro: It does. And when you also consider that they've had a lot of, recent price fluctuations which a lot of wind and solar opponents were trying to blame on wind and solar, but in reality, it's, it's because they don't have the right kind of balance and mix in the electricity market. And as we talked about on the show before as well They don't have intrastate energy trading and market balancing that allows them to really take advantage of supply and demand disparities. So the fact that AGL, which is kind of a national utility, they have the ability to do things, across multiple states that will be to the benefit of the entire grid and state level stability. Joel Saxum: So the, the, one of the things I love about what a Australia does in the renewable energy grid is they're, they make pretty good moves to, to really remove some of the old stuff. And their solar gen generation and their wind generation are kicking butt. But what this deal, really what shines in this deal to me, is the 6.1 gigawatts of battery storage. So whether you're using battery storage. Depending on what kind of battery storage it is, because batteries don't mean, double A's that you have in your calculator. They can be all kinds of different things. But it's a really good way to get rid of the thermal base load generation, because if there is slowdowns, in peak periods or whatever, the batteries can kick in to make that happen. So, of this, these acquisitions, 6. 1 gigawatts of battery storage is really nice to see, and I'm excited to see some of the same things start to happen in the United States. Allen Hall: Offshore wind developer Corio Generation has signed a memorandum of understanding with Brazilian shipyard EBR.

Asia Pacific Defence Reporter

There's more AUKUS stupidity to talk about, with now a secret political deal with the US and UK to be factored in. It is so secret that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese doesn't seem to have any idea what it's about. There's speculation that it could compel Australia to go to war with China over Taiwan – but that issue is more nuanced than most people understand. Or could it be about the storage in Australia of high level nuclear waste from other countries – which seems irrelevant since we will be storing many hundreds of tonnes of high level waste from our own decommissioned submarines. Why is the media incapable of asking obvious follow up questions? The only way left to reform the system is to start a new political party called Transparent Government and start taking seats off Labor, preferably including Corio, currently held by Richard Marles. Finally some wise words from David Sanger, one of the best and most knowledgeable national security journalists in the US. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

And if you want market intelligence that generates revenue, then book a demonstration of IntelStor at IntelStor.com. Macquarie Asset Management, through its fully owned offshore wind unit, Corio Generation, is making a fantastic investment. 50 billion investment in offshore wind over the next seven years. Corio generation, along with partners like TotalEnergies plans to invest in markets, including New York, New Jersey, Scotland, England, Taiwan, and Ireland. Phil, they've hit all the hotspots for offshore wind, but putting 50 billion into that marketplace is massive. Philip Totaro: Yeah. And keep in mind that, we're talking about a market that is likely to be several trillion dollars over the next five to seven years. They're certainly doing their part but also keep in mind that Corio has only really existed, obviously backed by Macquarie Group, but has only really existed for about the past year. I think they just celebrated their one year anniversary very recently. They've come quite far in a short period of time with the deployment of the capital that they've got and the markets that they're looking at are absolutely, the places You want to be, now that the U S has gotten through most of its nonsense and we're getting back on track this is a good market to be in Taiwan's relatively stable. There's a few kind of concerning signals out of there. But for the most part, that's going to still continue to grow and then England and Ireland are absolutely growth markets with a huge pipeline of projects in both those countries. Joel Saxum: 50 billion over the next seven years is their plan. Right now, and correct me if I'm wrong, Phil, but a gigawatt offshore wind farm, fixed bottom, costs between 3 and 5 billion to build, probably about 4 billion. Does that sound about right? Philip Totaro: CapEx costs on an offshore fixed bottom is probably somewhere between 2. 5 and 3 million per megawatt. You can, But yeah, your typical sized project at this point, if it's around a gigawatt in size you're talking about, 3 billion. Joel Saxum: Okay, so we're looking at 15 gigawatts of generation that they could get installed with that 50 billion or something around that. That's huge. That's that will help some countries in some areas hit some generation goals for offshore wind, definitely. And another one to mention here as well, we mentioned on the podcast the other day, but Onyx Insight recently purchased by Macri as a whole. They're also bringing in advanced analytics and tools to the Wind farms that they're installing. Allen Hall: The Scottish Offshore Wind Energy Council added seven new projects, including a Mingyang facility, to the Stage 2 Strategic Investment Model list, which aligns supply chain with developers plans for the ScotWind leasing round.

Andy goes way back into the beginning of David's incredible career from the beginning when he first got into photography at the age of fourteen. Amazing stories about taking photos of Bob Marley in 1980 while being chest deep in a lake shortly after Joe Jackson was hit in the chest by a dead duck somebody threw at him. They go into the Cold Chillin' photo shoot and how easy it was to shoot the late, great Biz Markie in 1988. Covering how Andy met up with David in London and the uncomfortable circumstances that started that meeting. So much was covered here with awesome stories throughout this show. Super entertaining. Episode 550 is here! To celebrate the latest Empire Podcast landmark, we once again staged a live show at Kings Place, London, and now here is that show, reassembled in the correct order and with the really naughty bits cut out (to see those, the live stream of the show is still available to watch via kings place.co.uk for the next two weeks!). And it was a belter, as Chris Hewitt, Helen O'Hara, Ben Travis, and James Dyer took to the stage in front of a packed crowd of loyal listeners, and chatted about the week's movie news, reviewed EO, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, The Whale, Knock At The Cabin, and Saint Omer, and answered a ton of listener questions. But that's not all: a landmark episode deserves a landmark line-up of guests, and we didn't disappoint, with Aftersun director Charlotte Wells and her young star, Frankie Corio, joining James and Helen for a chat about the BAFTA-nominated belter; director Asif Kapadia showed up to talk to Chris about Kapadia's new film, Creature (and NOT Liverpool Football Club, or the Queen); and we looked ahead to the big-screen debut of Luther in Luther: The Fallen Sun by inviting director Jamie Payne and the film's villain, living legend and national treasure Andy Serkis, along to chat with Chris and James. A good time was had by all on the night, and we hope you enjoy this as much as we did. Enjoy.

We welcomed director Charlotte Wells and actress Frankie Corio to NYFF60 to present and discuss Aftersun, a Main Slate selection of this year's festival, moderated by NYFF Artistic Director, Dennis Lim. In one of the most assured and spellbinding feature debuts in years, Scottish director Charlotte Wells has fashioned a textured memory piece inspired by her relationship with her dad, taking place over the course of a brooding weekend at a coastal resort in Turkey. The charismatic Paul Mescal and naturalistic newcomer Francesca Corio fully inhabit Calum and Sophie, a divorced father and his daughter often mistaken for brother and sister, who share a close and loving bond that creates an entire world unto itself. Wells employs an unusual and gorgeous aesthetic that brings us into the interior space of this parent and child, even as she judiciously withholds details, an approach that finally grants the film a singular emotional wallop. Aftersun reimagines the coming-of-age narrative as a poignant, ultimately ungraspable chimera, informed by the present as much as the past. Winner of the French Touch Prize of the Jury at this year's Cannes Festival. An A24 release. Aftersun opens at Film at Lincoln Center on Friday, October 21st. Tickets are now on sale.

On this episode of Track to the Future from Array Technologies, host Tyler Kern and guests Ron Corio, Travis Rose and Sabah Mahmood explore a topic gaining serious traction in the world of utility-scale photovoltaic powerplants – retrofits and repowering. This increase in retrofit and repowering projects has been driven by the sheer amount of innovation in the solar energy industry. All components of a PV plant have felt the impact of these leaps in technology, from modules and storage to inverters, trackers and everything in-between. “Solar power plants evolve, and technology evolves,” Corio said. “There are a lot of different kinds of utility-scale systems out there, and some of them don't perform as well as others. … There's always an economic analysis to look at whether or not it makes sense to reinvest in a project and upgrade it.” By engaging in economically logical retrofit and repowering projects, PV plant operators can enjoy lower LCOE, increased yields, decrease in O&M costs and a plant that's more on-par with the state-of-the-art ones being constructed today. At OCI Solar Power's Alamo I solar farm, the decision to repower was made after just six years, with trackers being upgraded, bifacial modules installed and more. This improvement in overall operation aligns with Array's mission of helping solar plants optimize every aspect of their production and operation and maximize project returns.

As I was seeking ways that I can bring reconciliation, the first thing that came to mind was to begin reaching out to my black friends and to listen, learn and love. One of those friends is my guest today, and my prayer is that our honest conversation will help others open up with one another & talk about issues that may have previously been taboo between cultures.
