Thank you so much for tuning in today. I am interviewing a guest that we have previously had on The MSing Link podcast because she has such a powerful story, but also has something new up her sleeve that I just think the whole world should know about. I'm interviewing Julie Stamm. On today's episode, we talk about her book that normalizes differing abilities and amplifies how each of us can thrive in spite of challenges, and her newest creation, 52 Essential Inclusion Skills, which come in an inclusion deck. Julie Stamm was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2007. Following her diagnosis, Julie made it her mission to educate, advocate, and support others battling chronic illnesses. She works tirelessly to help lessen the burden each patient has to bear. Her efforts have given her the opportunity to work with physicians, patients, and foundations across the Globe. After the birth of her son in 2016, Julie shifted her focus to supporting the children of parents with a chronic illness. Her children's book entitled “Some Days: A tale of love, ice cream, and my mom's chronic illness” was created to normalize differing abilities and amplify how each of us can thrive in spite of the challenges. In 2023, Julie co-created ‘52 Essential Inclusion Skills - An A to Z Guide to Kindness, Compassion, and Respect for Diverse Abilities' with Mind Brain Parenting's, Dr. Jenny Woo. The movement Julie has created has changed the apologetic tone and transformed the child and parent's experiences into uplifting stories that highlight the patient's resilience. Julie is committed to representing the underrepresented. Through her work, she has brought awareness and understanding to some of the many diverse abilities that can impact all of our lives, either directly or indirectly. Quotes: “Silent suffering is suffering without the possibility of hope.” Marla Thomas“No matter how dark things get, things can get better.” Dave Thomas With so much being said in the media and posted on social media about mental health, the stigma has lessened, but mental health issues are not without preconceived prejudices. With more celebrities speaking out and sharing their own mental health struggles, it's better, but we're still nowhere near ending the discrimination that many people face every day. On this episode of Authentic Living with Roxanne, we welcome Marla and Dave Thomas to share the story of their adult children and how you can help stop the biases. Dave Thomas is a 10x Grammy Award-winning member of TAKE6. Marla is a celebrity realtor and motivational speaker. Together, they are fierce and vocal mental health awareness advocates. Married for 35 years, which is nearly unheard of in Hollywood, this power couple has raised three children in the glow of the spotlight - two of them have been diagnosed with a litany of mental health challenges. Their foundation, Loving Beyond Reason, is committed to helping people with brain differences become productive and healthy members of their communities. According to the Harvard Center for Health Decision Science, the estimate for the global burden of mental disorders is approximately $5 trillion USD. After returning from a long European trip, your hosts are thrilled to be back in the interview chair talking to social media star and mental health advocate, Lexi Hensler. Lexi is open about her struggles with anxiety and depression from a very young age and talks to the Lautners about what helps her manage it all. She also talks about her bucket list, something she came up with when she was in the hospital with an infection that resulted in organ failure and a panic attack disorder. Lexi is out to destigmatize the conversation around mental health, and one of the amazing ways she is doing that is through her weighted stuffed animal company, Hugz. Lexi talks about her biggest goal for the company, discusses her relationship with social media, and shares her love for Oprah. Plus, the three bond over their love of dogs and the value they bring to your life, especially on the hard days. My guest today is Cindy Gallop or Lucinda Lee Gallop. And she is quite something! I wanted to have Cindy on the show, because she engaged on a psychedelic journey (with 62) not because of mental health reasons. She embarked on a truffle journey, just out of very simple curiosity. And lust for life. And resetting perspectives. To me Cindy's case also has an element for future ideas around longevity: what happens, if we keep our brain young? And how will this affect our body? Cindy says about herself to be “boringly drug resistant” but after her experience , things, aka her life changed. Cindy says. “ What it did just reinforce for me was a sense of history and the broadness of humanity. And the importance in the future, looking into the void, of finding light and connections.” Cindy Gallop I would say, is a real de-stigmatisation pro, a genius if it comes to tell it like things are. And then make them market ready. You guessed it, Cindy was an incredible advertiser, a female Don Draper, and we had many conversations over dinner about the rebranding or re-naming of psychedelics. Cindy studied English literature at Oxford University, receiving an MA in English language and literature. She was an English advertising consultant, founder and former chair of the US branch of advertising firm Bartle Bogle Hegarty, worked on accounts like Coca Cola, Ray Ban and Polaroid, In 2003, Gallop won the Advertising Woman of the Year award from Advertising Women of New York She is also the the founder of the companies IfWeRanTheWorld and MakeLoveNotPorn. According to the TED blog, Gallop's TEDTalk "Make Love Not Porn" was one of the "most talked about presentations'' at the 2009 TED conference. She founded her own brand and business innovation consultancy, Cindy Gallop LLC, in 2006. https://makelovenotporn.tv/ https://cindygallop.com/

Abortion care is a necessary healthcare service for women and all pregnant people at every stage of pregnancy, especially if complications such as fetal anomalies arise. But in the "new normal" post the overturn of Roe v. Wade, maternal mortality is reportedly on the rise, and services are being severely restricted in more than half of the U.S. The recent mid-terms showed overwhelming support from voters in several states for abortion protections, in both candidates elected and ballots passed. When Erika Christensen and Garin Marschall discovered the baby they'd been hoping for would not survive outside the womb, they sought abortion care. Since New York did not permit abortion after 24 weeks, they were forced to travel to Colorado to receive the care they needed. The traumatic experience pushed them to found Patient Forward, a grassroots reproductive care advocacy organization. They connected with Dr. Diane Horvath, who, together with Certified Nurse Midwife Morgan Nuzzo, is opening an all-trimester clinic in Maryland. Morgan and Diane face many barriers to starting their clinic. From safety concerns to delayed inspections, yet persevere to become one of less than ten all-trimester clinics in the U.S. As we wrap up this season of "Crossing the Line," we will also look back to former interviewees in Shreveport, Dallas, Phoenix, and Michigan to see how they're faring in a post-Roe world.Visit CTLpod.com to find out more about the podcast, resources for abortion care, and information on how you can take action.Special thanks to Dr. Diane Horvath, Certified Nurse-Midwife Morgan Nuzzo, and the staff at Partners In Abortion Care; Dr. Colleen McNicholas and Planned Parenthood; Erika Christensen, Garin Marschall, and Patient Forward; Reverend Daniel Kanter and First Unitarian Church Of Dallas; Kathaleen Pittman and Hope Medical Group for Women; Dr. Gabrielle Goddrick and Camelback Family Planning Clinic; Lead Escort Marie and Northland Family Planning; the Dr. Reverend Cari Jackson and the Religious Coalition For Reproductive Choice; Dr. Reagan Mosley and Power to Decide.Go to plancpills.org to learn how to access abortion pills. Abortion care is not just an essential part of reproductive healthcare but a necessary component of holistic healthcare decisions. When pregnant people are diagnosed with life-threatening conditions, when does their survival become the priority? With the recent overturn of Roe v Wade, these decisions are more complicated. Doctors in states with bans that only allow abortion in the case of "imminent danger" to the mother's life are unsure how to proceed. It's difficult for them to interpret the law and determine a treatment plan when they could face a felony charge for performing an abortion while their patient's life is on the line. An oncologist from the University of Wisconsin shares stories of cancer patients unable to receive treatment, and a Maryland woman who had a pregnancy onset stroke, shares how she took her survival into her own hands when she couldn't obtain the abortion she needed. After the birth of her son in 2016, Julie shifted her focus to supporting the children of parents with a chronic illness. Her children's book entitled “Some Days” was created to normalize differing abilities and amplify how each of us can thrive in spite of the challenges.
