In this episode, FAQ is: What are etias visas, and when are they required? Today's Destination is: Estes Park, Colorado Today's Mistake- I am not a foodie, but I love learning about new foods. I need to be braver. Travel Advice:  check your loyalty points and miles frequently for errors FAQ: What are etias documents and when are they required? Let's make it simple: it's not a visa. It's a visa waiver. Starting in 2025, the ETIAS  will be required for Americans traveling to Europe. US citizens can travel to the Schengen Area for up to 90 days without a visa. From 2025 on, visa-exempt non-EU nationals, including Americans, will be able to register with ETIAS before departure. This is not a visa but a visa waiver for travelers. It does require registration, not a visa. https://etias.com/etias-launch-pushed-to-2025 The ETIAS visa waiver for Americans is a multiple-entry travel authorization valid for three years. During this period, U.S. travelers can enter any Schengen zone European countries that apply to the travel authorization as many times as necessary. The total stay allowed in a Schengen country with each entry with ETIAS is 90 days within every 180 days. ETIAS permits travel to Schengen countries for short stays for tourism, business, medical treatment, or transit purposes. To stay for more extended periods or other purposes, American citizens must apply for a visa from an embassy or consulate. https://www.etiasvisa.com/etias-requirements/americans Today's destination is Estes Park, Colorado Drive to Estes Park from wherever you are in Colorado as it's the Rocky Mountain National Park entrance. I've been coming here since the 1970's, and it's consistently delightful. Try the Trail Ridge Road, the highest paved road in the US, and the most famous scenic drive in Rocky Mountain National Park—a day trip not to miss through high alpine tundra panoramas! Even driving up to Estes Park from Colorado's Front Range is scenic. https://www.colorado.com/cities-and-towns/estes-park If you want to get to Estes Park from Denver or vice versa, you can take the Bustang from Denver's Union Station. From there, it stops at Westminster at U.S. 36 and Sheridan Boulevard before ending at the Estes Park Visitor Center. Check the show notes for fares and schedules, especially seasonally. https://ridebustang.com/fares/ I've been there in the spring and the fall for the best leafy color and excellent weather. If you like hiking, you will want to try it out here. Three words to describe are Beautiful, Colorful, and Rustic. From boating on Lake Estes to soaring up the aerial tram, touring historical sites, to savoring sips at local breweries and distilleries, this small mountain town doesn't disappoint. While summer is the prime season, there are special events, concerts, and festivals. Camping is accessible from your car, or you can hike more remotely. I've been camping and hiking here in spring, summer, and fall. It's a Hiking paradise, so let me know if you do. Don't forget to look for the State flower: (name it) Columbine, it's purple.   https://www.visitestespark.com/ Today's Mistake-  I am not a foodie but love learning about new foods. I need to be braver.   Trying to eat like a local. I have not tried too many new foods. This year, I plan to be more adventurous with my eating, within reason. I don't want a lousy meal to ruin a good day. I will eat some foods, but not turtle blood. What someone else likes may not be for me.   Today's Travel Advice-check your points and miles frequently for errors Do you have many saved points or miles? For those couples looking for a wedding with plenty of activities, Estes Park is perfect! With abundant outdoor activities, your wedding party can come together in nature's finest playgrounds. Estes Park has something for everyone, from hiking trails and backcountry camping to golf courses and ski slopes. With Rocky Mountain National Park only a ten-minute drive from Estes, the bride, groom, and all their guests have time to explore. The park has hiking trails; if you want to avoid hiking, you can drive through the entire park! Some of my favorite animals in the park are foxes, mule deer, big horned sheep, elk, rocky mountain elk, moose, coyote, mountain Lion, black bears, and yellow-bellied marmot. When it comes to breathtaking scenery, Estes Park has a rocky mountain backdrop that is perfect for your big day. Whether you host your wedding outdoors or inside one of the Park's many luxurious venues, the area's stunning natural beauty will be hard to miss. I recommend staying in the Black Canyon Inn, which has the best view of the Estes Valley and surrounding mountains, or the historic Stanley Hotel, where the shining was filmed. The Stanley also has Spirited Night Tours and delicious food at their Cascades Restaurant & Lounge and The Post Chicken & Beer bar. The Cascades whiskey bar has fantastic drinks and some of the best lamb lobster bisk I have ever tasted! The post is a top-notch spot for brunch after a wedding, and it also has dinner and excellent hot chicken. Other top-notch breakfast, brunch, and lunch spots are Notch Top Bakery & Cafe, Mountain Home Cafe, The Egg of Estes, Kind Coffee, and the Big Horn Restaurant.Notch Top Bakery & Cafe is located in Stanley Village Shopping Center. It is usually crowded but has excellent food and pretty decor. Mountain Home Cafe is also located in the Stanley Village Shopping Center but has a more casual atmosphere. The Egg of Estes is located in downtown Estes. It is diner-style with a relaxed atmosphere. I enjoyed it so much that I returned several times on our trip. Kind Coffee is located at the beginning of downtown Estes. Parking is a bit difficult here, but it is excellent for a quick breakfast. They have great Coffee, bagels, and burritos. Big Horn Restaurant is located at the end of Main Street and has a casual atmosphere. The shopping and dining in Estes Park offer a surprising variety for a small town. From local boutiques and antique stores to incredible restaurants and dining experiences, there's something for everyone. My favorite store was The Christmas Shoppe where my husband and I found some memorable gifts for the whole family. For dinner, stop at the Dunraven or Bird and Jim. The Dunraven has a beautiful lake view in the valley of Estes, and The Birds Nest is a great rehearsal dinner spot. By day, it's only a coffee shop, but the second floor is a beautiful event space.  Food is catered by the first-class restaurant across the street called Bird and Jim. If you are looking for a chill brewery for a meet and greet or to hang with friends, check out The Barrel or The Wheel Bar. Whatever you're looking for, whether it's gifts for your wedding party or the perfect dress for your big day, Estes Park has it all! With its natural beauty, abundant activities, and countless shopping and dining options, Estes Park is the perfect destination for your wedding this season. Whether planning an extravagant affair or a cozy gathering of family and friends, Estes Park will surely provide unforgettable memories on your special day. So, what are you waiting for? A family makes an exciting trip to Estes Park Colorado, only to discover that the Spirits of The Haunted Stanley hotel are ready and waiting for their arrival.  Here is a preview of the story. “I can't figure out how to add the first picture so I'm just including the picture with the shadow figure next to me.  Of course, you get an eerie feeling when you're in that area lots of ghost sightings and very old. Later that day we did the ghost tour at night time in the dark at night, as part of the tour they take you into the basement which is really a tunnel under the hotel I started snapping photos with my cell phone one of them includes two orbs I blew up the photo to look at the orbs more closely the larger of the two the one on the bottom has what appears to be a possible man and his profile look into the left that one is a bit of a stretch there is a second orb at the top of the photo at the top of the orb there is a more clear picture of an elderly man's face staring directly into the camera when I show that to other people very clearly gives them the creeps makes their hair stand on end and there's obviously some type of ghost.  I can also send a copy of that photo as it is very obvious there is something there I don't know what orbs otherwise would be outside of the flash reflecting off dust that seems like the most obvious but then again why wouldn't you have orbs on every photo in that case because there's dust everywhere unless it's just a random chance of how the dust reflects back and creates the orb.  Going back in time about 17 years, staying at the Kalispell grand hotel in Kalispell Montana in the middle of the night in one of two haunted rooms which we annoyingly were staying in a visitor came to my bedside a young woman she kept pulling down the covers just above my knees and was talking to me trying to get my attention she was shaking the bed as well my wife was oblivious as I asked her and walk her up if she felt the bed move.” Watch more at: http://www.realghoststoriesonline.com/ If you have a real ghost story or supernatural event to report, please write into our podcast about the paranormal or call 1-855-853-4802! Today, on this special finale episode, we take a deep dive into a beloved paranormal favorite and Colorado legend, the infamous Stanley Hotel. I might be a Universal Unitarian after this one! Erin Walter, the vocalist and bassist from Parker Woodland calls in from Estes Park Colorado to talk to us about her passion for her music, the ideas that permeate her writing, and what she did during quarantine.Austin, Texas indie-rock collective Parker Woodland has been fighting the good fight to share the healing powers of music even before the pandemic hit. And when it did, they doubled down. The band's driving force is inspiring songwriter/vocalist/bassist Erin Walter, a Unitarian Universalist minister, activist for Girls Rock Camp and a whirlwind of positivity. Instead of sitting things out for the year, Walter and company released the “propulsive” (Austin American Statesman) EP The World Is On Fire (And We Still Fall In Love) in February and launched a 80-city virtual tour which includes UU churches, a festival for peace with Willie Nelson and Eliza Gilkyson, a Girls Rock Camp SXSW event and festival, a women's conference, and Play For The Vote (Beyonce, Paul McCartney, Adele and Aretha Franklin also performed) to remind people of the good things that connect us despite the hardships life throws at us. The tour continues at least through August (more info here). While the band started as a trio of friends with Walter, Strait Music's Dan McMonigle on guitar, and DJ/artist Ralph Cutler on drums, during the pandemic Parker Woodland has evolved into a diverse collective of musicians which has resulted in even more exuberant and lively performances than before. With the ongoing virtual tour, a livestream video trilogy release party and discussion with the video creators and actual live performances to be announced soon, you can bet when those live shows happen they will be even more uplifting and explosive than before. In the meantime, there is plenty to experience online. “The World's On Fire trilogy is my documentation of Austin band life, from practice space to studio, the garage to the stage to the road,” Walter said. “I hope the videos celebrate how special the Austin music community is and remind everyone how much we have to look forward to as we emerge from the pandemic. Though some things will be forever changed, like losing Music Lab, music is the magic that brings us together.WEBSITE | SPOTIFY | FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM | YOUTUBE // LYRICS | RADIO EDITS | PRODUCTION CREDITS | PHOTOS

If you have trust issues, go rock climbing.I discovered this for myself last month when I took a trip with First Descents, an organization that provides free adventures for cancer survivors. My adventure was set in Estes Park Colorado, a beautiful place just 40 or so minutes outside of Boulder. I’d chose this trip because I have always wanted to spend some extended time in Colorado and I’ve done a bit of climbing before. I had no idea of the physical and emotional beauty that I would experience while on this trip. Not only are Estes Park and Colorado amazingly beautiful with grand mountains and clear skies (God’s handiwork clearly on display), I also forged some amazing friendships during my short stay in Estes Park, relationships that I am sure will last a lifetime.I also got a chance to crush some awesome mountains and build trust.Climbing is all about trust. You have to trust that your equipment works and will hold you. You have to trust that the person who is belaying you has good control of the rope in case you lose your grip and fall, which happens. You also have to trust yourself. You have to trust your footing and that your body has the strength to keep you on the wall so you can reach the top of the mountain. When all these things are in place, and you’re able to trust, you can have a beautiful and exciting climbing experience.I feel the same about our Christian walk. Trust is key to a beautiful relationship with God. When we trust our maker, we’re able to enjoy the life He has planned out for us. “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3Read the full devotion at https://devotableapp.com/daily-devotion-proverbs-16-3-the-beauty-in-trusting-god

It was so clean and elegant and had great architecture, museums and food. Anaheim, California - Kim chose this city in California. Until recently she has always thought of Anaheim as Disneyland. This year she explored the downtown area and experienced its very southern California feel. Favorite city hotels: Avenue of the Arts - Kim stayed at this hotel in Costa Mesa, California. This hotel sits right across the Segerstrom Center that is the big performing arts center in Costa Mesa. The decor of the hotel room had a very modern feel and had a cute restaurant on site that had great lighting and seating for breakfast. Palais Hansen Kempinski - This hotel Tamara stayed at was in Vienna, Austria. Her family had a fabulous experience. Staying at this hotel was the full 5 star service, where they were greeted by name when entering and leaving. The employees were also so helpful with any information that was needed. The breakfast buffet was widespread and the nicest experience. Favorite beach hotels: Disney Aulani - Was Kim’s favorite beach hotel mostly in part due to the the location of the hotel and the surrounding beaches. Eden Roc Cap Cana - Tamara’s favorite hotel was one that she stayed at with her husband in the Dominican Republic. This was a great quiet getaway that can only be described as heaven. Favorite outside the city hotels: Basin Harbor Club Hotel - Is a hotel next to Lake Champlain in Vermont. This hotel is perfect for big family vacations, with different cabins along the lake. Mar Vista Cottages at Anchor Bay - This location is set off of the coast Highway 1 and is in Northern California. The Cottages are owned by a sweet couple that keeps them well kept and clean. They have live chickens so if you set out a basket by around 5pm, they would collect eggs for you to have in the morning as well as a garden with fresh herbs. Favorite history tours: The Jewish history tour Tamara and her family took in Budapest was her favorite tour experience starting with their great tour guide that shared some personal stories and it was an emotional journey. Kim loved her experience at the Cannery Row in Monterey, California, where she learned about the bridges that go over the road that used to be used for sending fish into the warehouses for canning. Favorite food tours: Walk Eat Nashville -  Was Tamara’s favorite food tour this year out of the five that she has been on. The tour had a great variety. Theo Chocolate - Was Kim’s favorite food tour this year that is in Seattle, WA. This tour teaches you the history of Theo chocolate and the story behind it. Favorite meal: Kim’s favorite meal was at The C Restaurant and Bar which is located on Cannery Row in Monterey, CA. The whole experience from the service to the food quality and the view were fantastic. Tamara’s favorite meal was at The Bazaar by Jose Andres which is located by South Beach Miami, Florida. This was one of the best food experience she has had and it was very inventive and tasted fabulous. Favorite outdoor adventures: Tamara’s family loved the experience they had hiking in Copper Mountain in Colorado. Kim’s favorite trip was the Oars Adventure she took for a camping and water rafting experience. Out of the ordinary experiences: Kim loved the experiences she had at the Disney Aulani KA WA’A luau. Though this was very Disney, it still had the history and tradition that was a fun little experience. Tamara loved the experience of the Peabody Memphis Hotel where her daughter Hannah got to be the Honorary Duck Master. This hotel has ducks that live on the roof that every morning are led down the elevator and to the fountain where they stay during the day, and then at night they are led back up to the roof. Theme park experience: The Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. This was the best ride that Tamara and her family have been on. It was worth the wait in line. Kim likes that Disneyland is starting a Max pass system instead of just Fast Pass. Favorite mother-daughter trips: Tamara and Hannah loved their civil rights road trip they took this year. Kim and Lizzy loved their Southern California trip where Lizzy got to experience some surf lessons. Then Kim and Amelia loved their trip to Estes Park Colorado where they got to explore the Rocky Mountain National Park there. Today’s featured guest is Erik Stensland Erik is a landscape photographer based in Estes Park Colorado. His business consists of two main parts: Morning Light Photography, his images focusing on the American Southwest Desert, the Pacific North West, and Lanscapes throughout the United Kingdom. Images of RMNP or Rocky Mountain National Park depicts aspects of the park through every light and weather condition imaginable. Some early mornings Erik devotes to a long hike for the perfect view as the sun peaks over the horizon. Erik Stensland was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but it was after his family moved to Montana that he developed his deep love for the wilderness, often hiking alone in the mountains from an early age. Later Erik moved back to Minnesota, where he attended high school and college. After graduating, Erik followed his other passion—that of making a difference in some of the world's impoverished countries. For twelve years he lived in the Balkans, where he led nonprofit initiatives working to help those in need. It was there he met his wife, Joanna, who is from England. After a decade working together in Bulgaria, Albania, and Kosovo, Erik and Joanna returned to the States and settled in Colorado to be close to the mountains. Their son, Luke, was born during their first year in Colorado and soon after Erik opened his first gallery in downtown Estes Park. Erik quickly became one of the premier photographers of Rocky Mountain National Park. He has an intimate knowledge of the park, having hiked every trail and visited nearly every nook and cranny. Erik has authored several books, including: Images of Rocky Mountain National Park, Getting Started in Landscape Photography and The Landscape Photographer's Guide to: Photographing Rocky Mountain National Park. To help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Rocky Mountain National Park, he released a new hardcover book called “Wild Light: A Celebration of Rocky Mountain National Park” which is available at the bookstore upstairs. Besides his gallery in Estes Park, he also sells his work at the Grand Lake Art Gallery and the Trail Ridge Store. Erik also has a gallery outside of Abiquiu, New Mexico, where he displays his growing Desert Southwest collection.
