After much debate and a veto from Mayor Steve Tumlin, the council voted 4-3 in favor of full residential use for one building, citing challenges in attracting commercial tenants. The developer argued the weak retail market made the change necessary. The site will also include 39 townhomes, with most being three stories tall. The decision reflects ongoing efforts to balance housing needs and market realities in the area. STORY 2: UPDATE: Six Arrested After Shooting, Police Chase in Marietta Six men, aged 18-23, were arrested after a shooting at Lakeside at Town Center Apartments in Marietta led to a police chase. The suspects, armed with handguns and an AK-47-style rifle, allegedly fired at two victims, Deshawn Hirsch and Miykael Davis, who were injured but later discharged from the hospital. The suspects fled in a BMW, crashing during a police pursuit. Multiple apartments and vehicles were damaged by gunfire, and police are investigating if others were involved. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact Marietta Police or submit anonymous tips. STORY 5: 'A Conversation Starter': Marietta Super on State Phone Ban Georgia's "Distraction-Free Education Act" (HB 340), awaiting Gov. Brian Kemp's signature, would ban cellphone use in public schools for grades K-8 starting July 2026. Schools must adopt policies by January 2026 but can choose how to enforce the ban. Marietta City Schools already uses Yondr pouches to restrict phone access in middle schools and is considering expanding the policy. Superintendent Grant Rivera sees the bill as a statewide acknowledgment of the issue, sparking broader discussions, including potential high school bans. Cobb County schools, however, prefer a flexible, teacher-led approach to managing devices. CTL Script/ Top Stories of April 11th Publish Date: April 11th Pre-Roll: From the Ingles Studio Welcome to the Award-Winning Cherokee Tribune Ledger Podcast Today is Friday, April 11th and Happy Birthday to Ethel Kennedy ***04.11.25 - BIRTHDAY – ETHEL KENNEDY*** I’m Peyton Spurlock and here are the stories Cherokee is talking about, presented by Times Journal Lawmakers Pass Bill Establishing Internal Auditor for Cherokee Schools Reinhardt to Move Nursing School to Main Campus in Waleska Driver’s License Deadline Approaching Plus, Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on sugar free cakes We’ll have all this and more coming up on the Cherokee Tribune-Ledger Podcast, and if you’re looking for Community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! Commercial: MILL ON ETOWAH REV GENERIC_FINAL STORY 1: Lawmakers Pass Bill Establishing Internal Auditor for Cherokee Schools A bill to establish an internal auditor for the Cherokee County Board of Education has passed the Georgia General Assembly and awaits Gov. Brian Kemp’s approval. Sponsored by Rep. Jordan Ridley, HB 845 aims to enhance transparency and accountability in school district budgets. The auditor, a certified professional with five years of experience, would conduct comprehensive audits, including financial and operational reviews. The bill follows recent school board actions to address financial concerns, including audits related to the state’s floating homestead property tax exemption, which could have cost the district $50 million over three years. STORY 2: Reinhardt to Move Nursing School to Main Campus in Waleska Reinhardt University is relocating its Dr. John A. Cauble School of Nursing and Health Sciences from Jasper to its main campus in Waleska by fall 2025. The move, funded by Dr. John A. Cauble and Sally Forest, aims to foster program growth, student engagement, and academic support. Established in 2017 and accredited in 2019, the nursing school has thrived, with its latest cohort achieving a 100% NCLEX pass rate for the third consecutive year. The relocation follows enrollment shifts and space reassessments, marking a new chapter for the program while maintaining ties to Pickens County. STORY 3: Driver’s License Deadline Approaching Starting May 7, U.S. travelers will need a REAL ID or another acceptable form of identification to board domestic flights. Georgia began issuing REAL ID-compliant licenses in 2012, but those who recently moved or haven’t renewed their license should check for a gold or black star in the upper right corner of their ID. If it’s missing, schedule an appointment with the Department of Driver Services to avoid long lines as the deadline approaches. The REAL ID Act, passed in 2005, aims to enhance security and reduce identity fraud. Visit a state-approved office to apply if needed. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. Break: STORY 4: Two to Serve 25 Years in Prison for Cherokee County Home Invasion Kaiden Pridgen, 19, and Cibias Vieira, 23, pled guilty to charges from a 2022 Cherokee County home invasion and attempted armed robbery, receiving 35-year sentences with 25 years in prison. The masked defendants, armed with a pistol, assaulted and held victims at gunpoint while searching for cash. Evidence from surveillance, geofence data, and social media linked them to the crime. Pridgen, 16 at the time, was tried as an adult due to the crime's severity. A third accomplice, David Kelley, who acted as the driver, received a 20-year sentence with five years in prison. The case highlights the lasting trauma of home invasions. STORY 5: Woodstock's Transport Solutions of America Celebrates 20 Years Transport Solutions of America (TSOA), a Woodstock-based fleet logistics company, celebrated its 20th anniversary in March. Founded in 2005 by Tim Williamson, TSOA began by transporting heavy-duty assets and has since grown into a leading provider for all vehicle classes across North America. The company also launched TSOA Fleet in Canada, headquartered in Mississauga, to support Canadian fleet operations. TSOA credits its success to dedicated employees and loyal customers. The first phase of the long-awaited Jeffrey Epstein documents was released on February 27, 2025, by the U.S. Department of Justice, but instead of delivering long-promised transparency, the release was yet another exercise in obfuscation. The documents—comprised of heavily redacted flight logs, a sanitized address book, a so-called "masseuse list," and an evidence index—failed to provide any substantive new information. What was supposed to be an earth-shattering disclosure ended up being a repackaging of details already available to the public, with key names and connections concealed under thick black ink. Despite widespread calls for full transparency, this release did little more than reinforce the reality that Epstein's network remains protected at the highest levels of power. Instead of revealing the high-profile clients who enabled or participated in Epstein's operations, the public was given a diluted, controlled document dump that shields more than it exposes.Even more insulting was the inclusion of irrelevant celebrity names like Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson, Alec Baldwin, and Ethel Kennedy—people whose presence in Epstein's orbit had already been reported, and in many cases, were likely nothing more than superficial connections. This cheap distraction serves only to bait the media into fixating on meaningless names while ignoring the real story: the continued cover-up of Epstein's most powerful associates. The release was not a reckoning—it was a misdirection, a way to placate the public with scraps while the real architects of Epstein's operation remain untouchable. Critics, including Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, have called this out as nothing more than a dog-and-pony show, a carefully curated selection of documents designed to make it seem like progress is being made while keeping the most damning truths buried. Attorney General Pam Bondi's demands for more records are a step in the right direction, but if this first release is any indication, the real fight is still against the very system that continues to protect Epstein's enablers from exposure.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:AG Pam Bondi releases Jeffrey Epstein files in long-awaited document dump after warning the files were 'pretty sick' | Daily Mail Online

On the night before Halloween in 1975, Martha Moxley, a vibrant 15-year-old, set out to spend the evening with friends and neighbors in the upscale community of Belle Haven, Greenwich, Connecticut. By the following morning, the quiet neighborhood would be forever scarred. Martha's lifeless body was found in her backyard, brutally murdered with a golf club—a crime so shocking it reverberated across the nation. In the days following her death, investigators were faced with a tangled web of leads. What began as a local tragedy quickly unraveled into a case that highlighted the sharp divide between privilege and justice. The focus soon turned to the Skakel family, neighbors of the Moxleys and relatives of the Kennedy clan. Reports indicated Martha had spent her final evening with the Skakel brothers, Michael and Thomas, both of whom became central figures in the investigation. As the case developed, whispers of influence and power began to overshadow the pursuit of justice. Despite mounting suspicion and evidence, including accounts of inconsistent alibis and troubling behavior from members of the Skakel family, the investigation stalled. For years, the case remained cold, leaving Martha's family and the community in anguish, haunted by the lack of accountability. Over the decades, the case would resurface, each time with renewed attention and controversy. In 2000, Michael Skakel, the nephew of Ethel Kennedy, was arrested and charged with Martha's murder. His trial captivated the public as prosecutors laid out a timeline implicating Michael, citing his alleged confession to a classmate years earlier. Convicted in 2002, he was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison. However, this was far from the resolution many had hoped for. In the years following his conviction, Michael Skakel's legal team challenged the verdict, citing insufficient representation and procedural flaws. In 2013, his conviction was overturned, and he was released on bail. The case remains a contentious topic, with ongoing debates about guilt, privilege, and the elusiveness of justice. Originally recorded and release as EP 52 and EP 53 in January 2023. Two years ago, Robert Fitzgerald Kennedy (RFK) was running for president of the United States. He graciously agreed to be the opening keynote speaker on the first night of the Mile High Weekend. Born to a political family, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is the nephew of America's 35th President, John F. Kennedy, and the son of his Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. Both of them lost their lives to the assassin's bullet: JFK in 1963, and RFK, Sr. in the midst of his 1968 Presidential campaign. Rather than enter politics himself, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. carried on his family's legacy of public service by devoting himself to environmental causes and children's welfare. Kennedy has enjoyed legal victories in many milestone environmental battles over the past four decades in Latin America, Canada, and the United States. Kennedy is also an award-winning writer whose articles have appeared many newspapers and magazines. Among his published books are two New York Times' bestsellers: “Crimes Against Nature” (2005) and “The Real Anthony Fauci” (2021). He was born on January 17, 1954, in Washington, DC, and is the third of 11 children of the late Sen. Robert Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy, who recently celebrated her 95th birthday. He's married to Cheryl Hines, a noted actress. The couple has seven children, including Kennedy's six children from two previous marriages. RFK is a supporter of chiropractic and of changing the paradigm of health care in America, particularly when it comes to stopping the use of vaccines and other pharmaceuticals that are causing harm rather than health in this country. He withdrew from the 2024 presidential race and gave his support to his opponent. If his opponent is elected, RFK will likely be appointed as a cabinet member to oversee a transition in America to natural health for children and adults, which will include moving to chiropractic care and other safe, healthy processes. So, you're going to thoroughly enjoy this replay of his Mile High presentation, where he speaks of his vision for the health of America and his support for the Chiropractic profession. Ethel KennedyIt was with sadness I heard last week of the death of Ethel Kennedy, the wife of assassinated US Senator Robert Kennedy. She was aged 96. Ethel Kennedy was with her husband in Los Angeles in 1968 when he was shot and killed. She was left to rear 11 children. It was a huge blow to her and to the family. Ethel's response was to found the Robert F. Kennedy Centre for Justice and Human Rights, along with her brother-in-law Sen. Teddy Kennedy. The Centre advocates for gun control and human rights. She was also active in the Special Olympics, and in her eighties she took part in 2016 in a demonstration in support of higher pay for farmworkers in Florida.Irish America's role in Irish UnityLast week Friends of Sinn Féin in the USA organised the first of a planned series of public discussions on Irish Unity and the role of Irish America and the USA in achieving that objective. The American events – and those in Canada that will come later – are mirrored on the People's Assemblies organised by Sinn Féin's Commission on the Future of Ireland. They are intended to engage with the diaspora and others in North America and to help inform the work of the Commission and of Sinn Féin.

Also Kamala's misguided comments on non-involvement on the Isreal-Hamas war and foreign policy, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro didn't want to be VP to protect his reputation and office and is there a 400,000 strong caravan of illegals housed in Mexico set to come into the country after the election. Kamala Harris sits down for her first interview with an "unfriendly" news outlet, and it does not go well for her. Fox News anchor Bret Baier did not let Kamala Harris dodge questions or filibuster with word salads, and the VP couldn't handle it. She constantly tried to steer the conversation away from her own failures and toward the "threat" of Trump. We break it down. Ethel Kennedy's funeral had many political heavy hitters in attendance. Bill Clinton was creepy, and Joe Biden had a heated conversation with Barack Obama. Bubba attends a Business Leaders of Alabama fundraiser and rubs elbows with Larry David and Jason Isbell. (Not that Larry David, and not that Jason Isbell.) A Kamala Harris supporter makes the mistake of calling our show to spread lies, and Adler gets heated. Rick and Bubba stay logical and level-headed.
