"American Extremists Aiding Radicals Across Border," trumpeted the Detroit Free Press in 1919. "707 Illegal Aliens Arrested in Checkpoint Crackdown," reported the Los Angeles Times in 1987. "87 Bronx gang members responsible for nine years of murders and drug-dealing charged in largest takedown in NYC history," announced the New York Daily News in 2016. "'Top secret' Hamas documents show that terrorists intentionally targeted elementary schools and a youth center," claimed NBC News in 2023. Each of these headlines includes a label for a certain type of Bad Guy. Whether it's the "Extremist," the "Illegal Alien," the "Gang Member," or the "Terrorist," these terms—and their cousins—seek to exceptionalize the alleged transgressions of their targets, separate them from both the law and history and dehumanize them, all while priming media audiences for crueler laws, harsher policing, longer incarceration and sometimes even extrajudicial punishment. The terms, of course, don't have clear, universally accepted definitions—nor are they supposed to—their use is often heavily racialized and, by their very nature, subject to the whims and ideologies of the Security State and the media doing its bidding. What effects, then, do these Bad Guy Labels have on public perceptions? How do they serve to foreclose critical thinking about who is deemed inside the bounds of due process and humanization and who is categorically an other in urgent need of disappearing and punishment? On this episode, we examine four thought-terminating Bad Guy labels, analyze their origins, why they rose to prominence and explain how they are selectively evoked in order to turn off people's brains and open up space for quick and cruel state violence. Our guest is attorney and author Alec Karakatsanis.

The American people allow themselves to get worked up into a frenzy over the misguided belief that the future of this nation depends on who we elect as president. In a country of more than 330 million people, we are given only two choices for president. How is it that in a country teeming with creative, intelligent, productive, responsible, and moral people, our vote too often comes down to pulling the lever for the lesser of two evils? One is more evil because whoever you think is the savior of us all is always being hounded by the Deep State which requires the president to declare a Security State. The expectation of lesser-evilest voting producing a significantly different outcome on the political scene given that such action has never brought about a change before speaks disparagingly to this illogical strategy. Tonight on Ground Zero (7-10 pm, pacific time) Clyde Lewis talks about HELL CANDIDATE – EVIL OF TWO “LESSERS”. Listen Live: https://groundzero.radio Archived Shows: https://aftermath.media

The recent Joe Rogan interview with Deep State operative Peter Thiel should be a wake-up call to the world that the technocrats have taken control of the future of technology and will use it against the people. The society of tomorrow is going to be remade into a much different place, and as a member of the Steering Committee of the Bilderberg Group, he would be in a position to know. With an $11 billion war chest and a reputation for settling old scores, Peter Thiel is poised to become one of the most dangerous men in the world, especially if his newest start-up investment in the JD Vance project takes hold in November. With Palantir deeply intertwined with the Security State through its software systems, who is really in charge of the decision-making during wartime, or even for the next pandemic? The answer is that it will be people closely tied and probably financed by Peter Thiel, the PayPal Mafia Don and World Economic Forum partner. It began with the nation's first Black President, but it would become much bigger. It would become a movement that captured every major institution in this country, including public schools, universities, corporations, and nearly all of culture. This could not last only two terms. No, this had to last forever. When Donald Trump won in 2016, the power concentrated in the Obama coalition refused to step aside. Trump was the problem. His supporters were the problem. They didn't like this new utopia that had become America and wanted change. But that change would never be allowed to take place. The coup began even before Trump took office. A group of powerful elites decided it was their choice who could and could not represent the people. If one of them offended the ruling oligarchy, he was seen as a “racist” and had to be stopped by any means necessary. They used every lever of power to stop him, to remove him, and to destroy him. They did this with the full cooperation of the nation's press corps. They did it in full view of the Security State. And they did it with the enthusiastic support of their voters.Get him. Destroy him. Remove him.I was one of them. I wrote endless pieces about why Hillary Clinton had to win because history had to be made. I spent years pushing woke ideology into the film industry. It made me feel important. I was part of a movement, something bigger than myself. I had the admiration of my friends and pats on the back by powerful people. Why would I ever give that up?I believed Donald Trump was a racist because the Democrats told me so. I believed he was a Russian spy because I watched Rachel Maddow. I believed he was a danger to our country because I read the New York Times, and I believed that the only thing that mattered in our lives was that those of us who were among the white majority did everything we could to elevate the oppressed minorities.I This is a public episode. We are also deeply honored that the eminent Dalit intellectual, and former political prisoner Dr. Anand Teltumbde is with us as well to lend his unique insight into the political situation in India and the realities of being a political prisoner there. The Polis Project, Inc. is a New York-based hybrid research and journalism organization that works with communities in resistance. Through its  Research, Reportage and Resistanceapproach, they publish and disseminate critical ideas that are excluded from mainstream media. Their work sheds light on the rise of authoritarianism especially in democracies and focuses on issues of racial, class and caste injustice, Islamophobia and State oppression around the world. In September 2019, the United States Library of Congress selected The Polis Project, Inc.'s website for inclusion in its web archives. Francesca Recchia is an independent researcher, educator and writer whose work is grounded in the values and principles of decolonial philosophy and radical pedagogy. She is interested in the geopolitical dimension of heritage and cultural processes in countries in conflict and she focuses on creative practices of collective resistance in contexts of unequal structures of power. Her latest assignment in Kabul was as Acting Director of the Afghan Institute for Arts and Architecture. She was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Bartlett School of Planning, University College of London, has a PhD in Cultural Studies at the Oriental Institute in Naples and a Master in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Renown Swiss historian Daniele Ganser discusses his new book "USA: The Ruthless Empire", the Military-Industrial-Complex and Security State, the Washington elite, and how the establishment continues to falsely pretend that America is not an empire. Illegal NATO regime change operations and expansion provoked Russia's illegal Ukraine invasion. He is convinced the multipolar world is here and in the making. U.S. elite don't want a strong Europe and the Nord Stream false flag was a demonstration of that. He believes we are witnessing 'imperial overstretch' as tactics such as color revolutions become less successful. He also comments on COVID-19 and the danger of "digital empire" and the Chinese-style social credit system coming to the West. As the American imperial project in the Pacific World grew at the end of the nineteenth century, so too did the American security and intelligence state, argues Dr. Moon-Ho Jung in Menace to Empire: Anticolonial Solidarities and the Transpacific Origins of the US Security State (U California Press, 2022). Jung, Harry Bridges Endowed Chair of Labor Studies and professor of history at the University of Washington, connects the American Pacific coast to Hawai'i, the Philippines, Japan, and Korea, as American officials perceived threats to American hegemony and white supremacy anywhere anticolonial activism could be found. Under the guise of "sedition," the United States grew its security apparatus in response to perceived threats of radicalism, not primarily from Europe, but from Pacific regions which were increasingly agitating against American empire building. Jung asks readers to shift their perspective when thinking about American anti-communism, and consider connections between the American West and the wider Pacific as part of one, larger, intellectual and political whole. Since Independence, the Indian state has grappled with a variety of internal security challenges—insurgencies, terrorist attacks, caste and communal violence, riots, and electoral violence. Their toll has claimed more lives than all of India's five external wars combined.Despite this, we know surprisingly little about the institutions of the state tasked with managing internal security. How well has India contained violence and preserved order? How have the approaches and capacity of the State evolved to attain these twin objectives?  And what impact does the State's approach have on civil liberties and the quality of democracy? These are three questions that a new book, Internal Security in India: Violence, Order, and the State, takes up. It's an important new volume co-edited by two of the best-known political scientists working on India—Amit Ahuja of the University of California-Santa Barbara and Devesh Kapur of Johns Hopkins-SAIS.Amit and Devesh join Milan on the podcast this week to discuss their new book and the lessons it holds for law and order in India. The trio discuss the centralization of internal security powers, the surprising decline in public violence, and the explosion in the size of India's paramilitary forces. Plus, the three debate whether violence has moved from the periphery of Indian politics to center stage.Soutik Biswas, “Is India seeing a decline in violence?” BBC News, January 16, 2023. Ajai Shukla, “India's tryst with counterinsurgency,” Business Standard, March 15, 2023.Devesh Kapur, “The worrying rise of militarisation in India's Central Armed Police Forces,” ThePrint, November 29, 2017.Amit Ahuja and Devesh Kapur, “Internal security threats: the 1980s,”Hindustan Times, 2022.

As the nation collectively remembers the 21-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, Charlie walks through the progression of the American Security State in the decades since that horrific day in US history. Especially in light of January 6th, 2021—it raises the question as to how the current Regime defines "terror" and what they are empowered to do in response to it thanks to the leviathan of "national security" ushered in after 9/11. He walks through the evolution of DHS' efforts, pointing out that a radical shift took place in 2009 when Barack Obama took office, and highlights two voices along the way that have been trying to warn the nation on the dangers of The Patriot Act and much more since the very beginning.Support the show: http://www.charliekirk.com/supportSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
