Lawrence and Alainta discuss the evolution and financial progression of being older. Becoming true geriatric millennials who are over 30 but not quite 50. The game is definitely changing. What's a Geriatric Millennial?Geriatric millennials are a micro-generation of people born between 1980 and 1985. The term was popularized in a viral Medium article titled "Why the Hybrid Workforce of the Future Depends on the 'Geriatric Millennial'". The term was coined by author and teamwork expert Erica Dhawan, who described geriatric millennials as those born between 1980 and 1985. Dhawan believes that being skilled in both digital and personal forms of communication enables geriatric millennials to serve in a hybrid role in the workplace.Geriatric millennials are comfortable with both analog and digital forms of communication. They were the first generation to grow up with technology like a PC in their homes. They are neither ignorant of technology nor so engrossed in it that a voicemail inspires fear. However, many in the cohort are bristling at the moniker. Here are the 25 signs that you are a Geriatric millennial. What's a Financial Griot Anyways? The Financial Griot is a play on two words (Finance + Griot) that hold significance in closing the wealth gap while embracing our differences. "Odette, Omicron, and Geriatric Millennials" BLAST FROM THE PAST (feat. Amiel "Cortz" Cortes) An Excerpt: Season 3, Episode 33, Rated-PG13 "Lay Back" | Music by Brian Withycombe VISAYAS ART FAIR 2021 presented the Visayan arts and culture to the world last November 2021, which housed over 1,000 artworks from 400 artists in over 40 art events; featuring diverse galleries and creatives. ODETTE was a powerful CAT-5 tropical cyclone that hit the Philippines last December 16, 2021. Also known as "Rai," its damages to the Philippines surmounted to a combined total of $1.02bn. One of the highly urbanized cities that got heavily affected and disrupted was Cebu City. And with over 1M residents, electricity and running water were scarce and rationed; also disrupting food, gas, and other supplies distribution until March 2022. The digital working class was also thrown into disarray, whose work heavily depended on connection: electricity and internet; delaying projects to its cancelation while in the middle of a COVID-19 pandemic. OMICRON is a COVID-19 variant as a result of mutation that multiplies 70x faster, but is less severe than its previous strains after a 3rd shot of COVID-19 vaccine or booster. YOLANDA was the deadliest Pacific cyclone that hit the Philippines on November 3, 2013. With an est. damage of $2.2bn, its damages to Tacloban, Leyte was the most destructive with effects likened to a tsunami. Also known as "Haiyan," it also affected Cebu and Bohol two weeks after the 7.2. magnitude Bohol earthquake on October 15, 2013. The MALAY ARCHIPELAGO is an island chain between mainland Indochina and Australia that includes the Philippines. The name was a 19th-century Euro concept that also called it "East Indies" and "Spices Archipelago". ABS-CBN is a Philippine commercial broadcast network. And on May 5, 2020, the company was issued a cease-and-desist order by the government after their network's franchise license renewal application was denied. As an effect, this halted their free-to-air (FTA) terrestrial broadcasting services (e.g., newscasting) in the Philippines, which included the remotest places in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. GERIATRIC MILLENNIAL is an oxymoron for a special micro-generation born in the early 1980s that are comfortable with both analog and digital forms of communication. It was first popularized by author and leadership expert Erica Dhawan through her article, "Why the Hybrid Workforce of the Future Depends on the 'Geriatric Millennial'" last April 22, 2021 on the Medium.com platform. According to UrbanDictionary.com, a geriatric millennial is on the cusp/brink (of social extinction), and are the oldest "breed" of millennial "out there," but still acts like a "true millennial". On the TikTok platform, everyone born after 1998 is now considered "old" by Gen Z content creators and influencers. NET WORTH is the value of all assets minus the total of all liabilities. In other words, it is what's owned minus what is owed. A positive net worth also indicates that one's assets outweigh one's liabilities, and generally means one is on the right track to building wealth. Tim says KD because he always thinks he knows what he's going to say but he comes in with different takes often.
Emily in the House! While this is not an official "First" as we have had an opera singer before, it was a special appearance because she is a special person! Emily and I met at a pre-covid Improv Class and then we had a few Zoom classes and were able to work together on the (now famous) Mystery Dinner Party at Arrowhead Estates where we helped to find Manny's stolen goods. Bottom line is that she is a Fun, Energetic person with a constantly full tank of energy and she is NEVER at a loss for words (which is so helpful!). We covered a lot of ground! We discussed the many many details of Opera voice types, the many (useless) opinions about said voice types, we go deep into Simulation theory probability (91% chance), the emotional/healing properties of music, we discuss CB radios being creepy (are they?), we review Geriatric Millennials vs Gen Zs vs Gen X, go to Karaoke songs, The Dating Jungle that is a Match.com new years eve party in NYC (swiping right IRL), how we need a time machine to introduce improv to first graders for better communication, using Ketamine therapeutically, Manny's Marbles and the difference between Facebook of 2006 and 2022 among many many other topics. She was a blast (as always) to have on the show and we hope you all enjoy the conversation as much as we did!

On episode 66 of The HR Famous Podcast, long-time HR leaders (and friends) Tim Sackett, Kris Dunn and Jessica Lee come together to discuss the Top 100 HR Tech Influencers of 2021 and whether geriatric millennials are coming to save the world or not! Listen below (click this link if you don't see the player) and be sure to subscribe, rate, and review (Apple Podcasts) and follow (Spotify)! SHOW HIGHLIGHTS: 1:00 - JLee is in the DC metro area and is currently being overrun by cicadas! 3:00 - JLee, Tim, and KD were all named one of the top 100 HR Tech influencers of 2021! Our podcast has influence! 6:30 - Tim is getting reached out by not so reputable HR tech companies to be on their “top 10 lists” but he only wants to be on the robust, well-researched lists. 9:45 - JLee doesn't know if any of the other hundreds of other HR employees at her company know about her being on this list. She asks the crew the question “does this event matter?”. Tim thinks it's great for the speaker bio. 15:00 - JLee hasn't been on lists for awhile but she's back since starting HR Famous and starting back on the conference circuit. She says that getting back out there has helped her open her eyes and see what else is going on in the world. 18:00 - KD says that he may not get more business from being on this list but he's at the company he's at now because of being out there in the HR space. HIs last 2 career opportunities have come from being more active than normal in the HR space. He also considers the HR Tech/HR Executive Magazine list to be the gold standard. 19:45 - An article has been going around JLee's office and it's about “geriatric millennials' ' and their eagerness to go into a world of hybrid work. 21:00 - What's a geriatric millennial? They were not digital natives and remember a time before cell phones and other technological advancements. JLee is the resident geriatric millennial of the pod. 23:45 - Geriatric millennials have the ability to go between the online and offline world where older and younger generations may struggle at being online/offline. Also, they have had to learn how to adapt to different digital technologies quickly. 30:00 - KD calls BS on the concept that everyone in a generational slice is going to have impact in the world, noting that high performers throughout time in the 35-40 range are always "next up" in the world of work. But not everyone within a certain age group is going to save the world. There will always be high potential earners in every group, and they'll rise to create change. ---------------Jessica Lee, Kris Dunn and Tim Sackett Kinetix HRU Tech Jessica Lee on LinkedIn Tim Sackett on Linkedin Kris Dunn on LinkedIn The Tim Sackett Project The HR Capitalist Fistful of Talent Boss Leadership Training Series
We have been off for over a week and a lot has happened, so we start off tonight's show with Just One Question, in which we discuss some of the biggest stories of the last week by answering one question about them. Tonight, we discuss; Trump's waning influence over the GOP, the battle over vaccine passports, Gavin Newsom keeping emergency powers while reopening the state, Naomi Osaka pulling out of the French Open because she didn't want to talk to the press, Meghan and Harry transitioning from royalty to celebrity and Ellie Kemper's racist ball controversy. We then move on to our main story. Last week, a Medium article divided online readers by introducing the concept of Geriatric Millennials and claiming that they are the key to guiding the US out of the pandemic era. We discuss what a geriatric millennial is and decide whether any one age group is more equip to adept to life's new normal as we exit the pandemic. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tmihollywood/support

Kyle and Roman reconvene after an eventful week. The guys dive into their shared love of "The Good Lord Bird" on Showtime and laugh at Julio Jones appearance on Undisputed. They also marvel at Kwame Brown's revenge tour, and they offer some thoughts on ESPN's article about tampering in college football. Does it feel like suddenly there's one story splashed across every feed? Do these stories sort of make you angry for no particular reason? Is it hard to tell which news outlets are writing about it? Does it just create this weird inescapable exhaustion? Welcome to the Digital Media Content Toilet. It's where we all live now. We pick apart how "Geriatric Millennials" became a thing and what it says about how the internet works now.
A former senior Army officer is calling for the military to have a “#MeToo moment” and is claiming that hundreds of female troops have been raped and sexually abused by colleagues. Lt Col Diane Allen, who served for 37 years, says the Armed Forces are being run by “a toxic group of privately-educated white senior officers” We talk to Diane Allen and also hear from the Defence Minister Baroness Goldie. Dominic Cummings, the Prime Minister’s former chief advisor, will today face questions from senior MPs over the government’s response to the pandemic. Cummings is a controversial figure in Westminster, and since leaving his position as Boris Johnson’s top aide, he has not gone quietly, making a series of damning claims against the Prime Minister and government. But would the media and political coverage have been the same had he been a woman? Caroline Nokes, the Conservative chair of the Women and Equalities Committee, joins us to discuss. Art historian Catherine McCormack has just published an impassioned book, Women in the Picture: Women Art and the Power of Looking. She argues that women's identity has long been stifled by dodgy narratives and a limited set of archetypes. For art history to remain relevant, she says, we need to look again and reconsider many of the classics displayed in art galleries. What generation do you define as? The term 'geriatric millennial' went viral last week, after writer Erica Dhwan used it to describe the micro-generation born between 1980 and 1985. Erica believes they make particularly good employees due to their experience of life before the digital world. Rosa Silverman, a senior features writer at the Telegraph, says she is proud to self-define as one of the around 5 million UK geriatric millennials in the UK.
