In Let's Get Dark's very first "Midnight Session" episode (those with a paranormal/esoteric subject matter) we discuss the very first Poltergeist in a housing project in the US: the haunting of 13 year old Ernie Rivers and his grandmother Mabelle Clark. Ernie had a tumultuous childhood, which culminated in an incredibly active and physical poltergeist that tormented him & his grandmother for months in 1961. The fact that they lived in public housing, meant that various officials began interceding in their lives, and the activity escalated so terribly that Ernie was removed from his grandmother's custody. There were elements of race and class discrimination rampant throughout their entire ordeal, and one has to wonder how differently the situation would have been handled had they not been a poor black family. But, when it came down to it, no one who witnessed the activity in the apartment could rationally explain what was taking place there. What happened at 125 Rose Street to Ernie and Mabelle? Join us as we take a dive into the "Project Poltergeist" rabbit hole, and Let's Get Dark. In this week's episode, we are joined by real estate investor and property manager Christian Phillips. After leaving the Navy, Christian sold real estate full time and currently owns a real estate brokerage. Christian gives out this advice to other military veterans -- your home is not an investment but a liability and money spent on mortgage payments is better off making investments instead. If you are looking to buy, sell and rent out your home, or looking for a property to rent or invest in by rehabbing homes or building new construction, let Christian show you the way. In this episode, we explore: Background of the guest Why choose INLET property management Services provided by property management How to deliver quality service to the owners Self manage vs outsource How to value a property management company About Christian: Christian grew up in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York and enlisted in the US Navy straight out of high school. After achieving the rank of E-5 in under three years and being the lowest ranking person ever onboard his ship to become ESWS (enlisted surface warfare specialist) qualified, Christian completed his enlistment of four years and was honorably discharged in 2001. After leaving the navy, Christian worked as an insurance agent for USAA insurance for four years. Christian got his real estate license in 2003 and in 2005 he left USAA and began selling real estate full time. In 2010 he began managing property and in 2020 Christian opened his own real estate brokerage, Inlet Realty and Property Management. His company now has eight agents and manages 140 doors across Southeast Virginia. Snapshot: What is your number one failure in real estate? What advice would you give to other militaries to be successful? What inspired you to serve your country? What is your dream? Quotes: “Happy tenants tell you when there's water stains on the ceiling before there's mold growing on it.” - Christian Phillips “You can't be afraid to outsource some parts of the job so that you can work on the bigger stuff.” - Christian Phillips “Just because you're willing to, doesn't mean you have the ability to.” - Christian Phillips Connecting with the Guest: www.inletrealty.com

While the calendar confirms that 2020 was a standard 365 days, March seemed to last seven months, and in total the year seemed like one endless anxiety attack. Luckily, music still provided a momentary reprise via albums in a variety of forms. Some were unexpected, like from Hum, Shiner, Sparta, and Criteria. Some were long in the making, like albums from Fiona Apple, Pearl Jam, Alanis Morissette, and the Psychedelic Furs. Others were from active favorites, like The Lees of Memory, Guided By Voices, Local H, and Jeff Tweedy. There was something for everyone, and we talked about many. They recount the story of a man with adult congenital heart disease (ACHD): L-TGA (levo-transposed great arteries) with double inlet LV post-Fontan complicated by VF arrest. Dr. Christiane Haeffele provides the E-CPR and program director Dr. Joshua Knowles provides a message for applicants. Episode notes were developed by Johns Hopkins internal medicine resident Evelyn Song with mentorship from University of Maryland cardiology fellow Karan Desai and Cleveland clinic cardiology fellow Josh Saef. We learn together while discussing fascinating cases in this fun, engaging, and educational format. Each episode ends with an “Expert CardioNerd Perspectives & Review” (E-CPR) for a nuanced teaching from a content expert. We truly believe that hearing about a patient is the singular theme that unifies everyone at every level, from the student to the professor emeritus. We are teaming up with the ACC FIT Section to use the #CNCR episodes to showcase CV education across the country in the era of virtual recruitment. As part of the recruitment series, each episode features fellows from a given program discussing and teaching about an interesting case as well as sharing what makes their hearts flutter about their fellowship training. EMS arrived after three minutes of bystander CPR. An AED indicated the patient had suffered a VF arrest. ROSC was achieved after 1 round of Epi and 1 shock delivered. He was intubated and started on targeted temperature management protocol. Home medications were notable for digoxin 0.25mg daily, sotalol 120mg BID, and warfarin 5mg daily. Initial labs were notable for Na 127, K 5.4, Cr 1.0 (unknown baseline), INR 4.5, Lactate 4.6, Troponin-I 0.532, VBG 7.06/61, and random Digoxin level 2.7. EKG showed AV sequential pacing at a rate of 70 bpm. QTc prolonged at 571ms. No ischemic ST changes. Device interrogation showed sustained VT for 5 minutes prior to external shock. No internal shock was delivered. He was initially stabilized and his acidosis and hyperkalemia were corrected. Course was complicated by hemoptysis due to alveolar hemorrhagic and he was given concentrated prothrombin complex to reverse his coagulopathy. He eventually stabilized, and a formal TTE was obtained which showed a hypoplastic RV, single dilated LV with an akinetic posterior wall and hypokinetic lateral wall, all similar to his prior TTE in 2019. No obstruction noted at the IVC/Fontan anastomotic site. Coronary angiogram performed after his kidney function improved also did not show any significant obstructions or coronary anomalies. After multidisciplinary discussion, his VF arrest was attributed to a combination of prior ventricular fibrosis/scar, suspected digoxin toxicity, sotalol, dehydration, and renal failure. He had a subcutaneous ICD lead placed and was ultimately discharged home. Case Media ABClick to Enlarge A. CXRB. ECG Episode Schematics & Teaching Coming soon! Click to enlarge! Time itself is a human construct. It can be bent and stretched, and yet so many of us walk through this life controlled by, victim to, or even in fear of the passage time. Do not allow yourself to buy in to anyone else’s misconceptions. The truth is life is not too short, children do not grow too quickly, and there truly is enough time for everything you actually want to do. It is the release of control that gives us mastery, and in that mastery lies one of the most essential keys to our awakenings. In “Let’s Go Swing on the Swings”, we discuss time… the passage of, the use of, the value, and the SLOWING of time. We will explore strategies, attitudes, pitfalls, & the true rewards of time management as both a spiritual and truly human necessity. Each of us has the ability to not just embrace, but to maximize and stretch time as well. We truly can be present, experience, enjoy, get the job done, and still find the time to swing on the swings! © 2020 Universal Lessons LLC, LessonsFromTheUniverse.com

Bill Wade, founder and artistic director of Cleveland-based Inlet Dance Theatre, joins Be En Pointe. I first encountered Bill's work through a mutual friend and have had the pleasure of seeing him at work in the studio with his company and seeing the premiere of his work in collaboration with author Kobi Yamada's “What do you do with an idea?”a few years ago. Bill received the 2012 Cleveland Arts Prize and an award for Outstanding Contributions to the Advancement of the Dance Art Form from OhioDance in 2013. Previously, as an Artist in Residence at Cleveland School of the Arts, he founded the YARD (Youth At Risk Dancing), a nationally recognized and awarded after school program. In 1998, he received the Coming Up Taller Award at the White House from the National Endowment for the Arts and the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Bill's work has toured domestically and internationally; he was chosen by Ohio Arts Council, the Ohio Arts Foundation, Playhouse Square Foundation, the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and The American Embassy in Santiago for an international artist exchange program with artists from Easter Island. Inlet was the first American modern dance company to perform on the island. Bill utilizes dance to further individual growth, which is why his story will resonate with dancers at all stages of their careers and will provide parents or mentors with a framework to guide their students. Wouldn’t it be thrilling to go to the polls on Election Day, regardless of what U.S. state you live in, knowing your vote and voice will count just as much as everyone else's? In this latest episode of Across The Margin: The Podcast, host Michael Shields meticulously examines the role the Electoral College plays in elections through an interview with Supreme Court journalist and New York Times editorial board member Jesse Wegman. Wegman recently penned the insightful and important book Let The People Pick The President, a thoroughly researched and engaging call to arms that makes a powerful case for abolishing the antiquated and antidemocratic Electoral College. In Let the People Pick the President he demonstrates how as citizens we can at long last make every vote in the United States count — and restore belief in our democratic system. To this day, millions of voters, and even members of Congress, misunderstand how the Electoral College works. Twice in the last five elections, the Electoral College has overridden the popular vote, calling the integrity of the entire system into question — and creating a false picture of a country divided into red and blue blocks. In this episode, Michael and Jesse delve into how the Electoral College functions and the way in which it was conceived by the Founding Fathers. They also examine the many myths associated with its workings, how the Popular Vote could eventually be implemented in choosing the president (hint: The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is involved), and ultimately, what the United States would look like when the final obstacle from the imperfections and built-in equalities of the nation’s founding was eradicated for good. Essentially they ask: How can we tolerate the Electoral College when every vote does not count the same, and the candidate who gets the most votes can lose?
