We had an Awesom-O time reviewing this week's episode, which sees Cartman become Butters' new robot friend. Remarkably, this story is more relevant now than it was 20 years ago, as we see the entertainment industry rely more and more on the use of AI in the creative process. We also discuss Parker and Stone's love of Michael Bay cliches, Dando wetting the bed, the career of Adam Sandler and more.LISTEN on Spotify - spoti.fi/4fzFQbj LISTEN on Apple - apple.co/4fCJmBvWATCH on YouTube - bit.ly/southparkpodcastSupport the Four Finger Discount Network for EARLY & AD-FREE access to every show we produce, as well as 100 hours of exclusive content! Pain & Gain is Michael Bay's magnum opus, a razor-sharp dissection of the American id. This movie has it all: Con artistry, prosperity gospel, and drugs, drugs, drugs! It also features career-best performances of Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, and Anthony Mackie, and it's easily Bay's best movie. Indeed, it's a look at an alternate career for Johnson where he could play interesting, complicated, vulnerable characters like he does in this movie. Instead, he made a bunch of movies with big cars and/or gorillas. Still, Pain & Gain is an absolute blast and we had a great time breaking it down, marveling at how much fun it is and how well it predicted what America would feel like in 2025. Next week: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) The Summer of Rock is our summer 2025 miniseries covering the movie career of Dwayne Johnson through nine movies, presented in chronological order. Starting with his attempt at crossing over from the world of wrestling, The Rock's career got off to a bumpy start before finally taking off in the 2010s. But it wasn't long before the bumps returned, and we'll be telling the story for you all summer long! Much like The Bodyguard, ARMAGEDDON's primary legacy is its MTV-Movie-Award-Winning song, a little Aerosmith ditty called I Don't Want To Miss a Thing. What does that say about the movie, and would it be different if Bay's film didn't live under the shadow of Independence Day? Could the Criterion Collection be wrong, or are they ahead of the curve on this one? Zo and the rest of the world are negotiating with catastrophe as everyone has to come to accept the unreal reality of the sky falling down. In this case the sky is falling down in the shape and form of a devastating meteor shower. These aren't the normal types of meteors that normally burn up in the Earth's atmosphere; these bad boys are gigantic - the size of Volkswagens and mailboxes. They come from outer space and punch through the globes protective layer like so much tin foil, burning on their way to untold destruction. On impact they punch holes in buildings and send tractor trailers hurling through the air, but this is just a harbinger. The real threat is Dottie, an asteroid of unspeakable size. It's an extinction level event just waiting to happen. The only thing that stands in it's way are a rowdy gang of professional oil drillers with a crazy plan to dig a hole in the ornery space rock and plant a nuclear bomb inside. It's a plan so crazy that it just might work and if it doesn't then it's the extinction of most of the life on the planet. It's means the event that's been foretold in the Bible had come to pass . . . Armageddon. Final Destination 2 is a symphony of stupidity—and I mean that as a compliment. It's the kind of gloriously dumb horror sequel that knows exactly what it is, knows exactly what you came for, and wastes not a single moment trying to be anything more. This is 90 minutes of elaborate, Rube Goldberg murder machines soaked in blood and irony, gleefully cooked up for maximum squirm, scream, and laugh-out-loud shock value. It's dumb, it's low-brow, and it's absolutely perfect at being both. The movie wastes no time setting the tone: a now-iconic highway pile-up that feels like someone gave Michael Bay a box of Hot Wheels and told him to film a snuff film. From there, the film doesn't bother with character development beyond “this one's kind of a jerk” and “that one's probably doomed” because it has better things to do—namely, assembling ludicrous, overly complex death scenes like it's competing in a sadistic engineering contest. The real star isn't any of the humans, it's the absurd chain reactions involving ladders, air bags, barbed wire, and a spaghetti of fate that could only exist in this series. What sets Final Destination 2 apart from other gore-porn offerings is its laser focus. It has a mission—deliver karmic, over-the-top death scenes wrapped in a thick coating of schlock—and it executes (pun intended). There's no meandering subplot, no slow-burn psychological twists. It's pure horror junk food: bloody, crunchy, and instantly satisfying. The movie also dials up the black comedy with every scene, letting the audience lean into the absurdity. It knows you're laughing at it, and it wants you to laugh harder. And let's talk karma—because this sequel adds an extra little spice to the kills. Everyone who gets got sort of had it coming, and the movie leans into this with a smug wink, giving the audience permission to cackle through the carnage. There's something almost therapeutic about watching these characters try to outmaneuver Death while it patiently flexes its Final Destination “gotcha” muscles. It's a greasy, gory good time, and unlike many horror sequels, it actually delivers what it promises—nothing more, but certainly nothing less.
Isaac has been back in the basement of the TNE Speakeasy and he's been hard at work at his witches cauldron, cooking up new retrospectives for the podcast. But in the back of his mind, he couldn't escape the regret of how he handled the Michael Bay's Transformers retrospective. Long in the annuals of TNE history has he been displeased with how that series went, and now he's back to make peace with the franchise, switching gears and redoing the series in a new format! Caleb ran kicking and screaming at the idea of returning to these films, so Eric has once again joined in, now promoted as the regular co-host on this Redux series. What will happen on this journey? Will Isaac grow a new respect for these films? Will Eric see more flaws in them then before? Will Caleb go insane in the editing booth, unable to chime in with disdain for the praises they might have?! Tune in now to find out! This episode was recorded on June 2nd, 2025.
The MONTH OF ACTION continues, as we dive into the worlds introduction to eccentric director Michael Bay, alongside two powerhouses of TV, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, with 1995's BAD BOYS. With little to no control, a terrible script, and fresh faces to the world of cinema, how did this movie ever get off the ground, or become one of the most talked about buddy cop movies of all-time? Who knows, but lets talk about it, this week on the Dissect That Film Podcast: Episode 212. In this episode of the Action Movie Guys Podcast, Alex and Nate kick off their long-overdue revisit of the Bad Boys franchise, starting with the 1995 original that launched the iconic duo. Joining them is special guest Scott JoJokersMovies from Instagram, who brings his own take on the explosive action, hilarious banter, and classic Michael Bay style. Does the first Bad Boys still hold up after all these years? Tune in to find out!
Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay got the whole wide world, in their hands, as they discuss 'Con Air.' Bombay opens the proceedings by telling the time he had his own flight from hell from Asia which involved being awake for 36 hours after a bender, with his arm in a sling. Then the fellas talk about one of the goofiest studio movies of the '90s, a film where Jerry Bruckheimer tapped a gun for hire to do his best Michael Bay impression, and the KY budget was record breaking as everyone glistened on screen. Nic Cage's flowing locks, and hackey inconsistent sometimes southern, sometimes Cajun accent, gets top billing, but it's an insanely stacked cast. John Malkovich chews scenery to degrees that'll make your jaw hurt, Danny Trejo is an ultra predatory latin Pepe le Pew, and Steve Buscemi is a poetic psychopath who wears heads for hats. Meanwhile, approximately 58% of the plot revolves around Cage's Poe securing insulin for his friend. None of it makes sense, but it ends with not one, but two wild crash scenes that tear up the majority of the Las Vegas strip. Whether you love the movie or find it overly cartoonish you'll want to tune in for this episode ... "or the bunny gets it."

After a final teaser from the voice actor, the conversation shifts to Legos due to the recent reveal of Lego Soundwave. After that, teasers of then-upcoming, now released Cyberworld series on Youtube wrap up the media talk. As usual, the "Bragging Rights" segment brings the show to a close.

Explosions, wisecracks, and that unforgettable slow-mo shirtless sprint—this week, the No More Late Fees crew is going full Michael Bay with Bad Boys! Jackie and Danielle are joined by Jamie from Millennial Misery to relive the buddy cop chaos that launched a franchise (and gave us sweaty Will Smith in an open silk shirt). From high-octane car chases to questionable wig choices, they unpack every explosive twist, behind-the-scenes feud, and fishy bathroom brawl—literally, there are fish flying during one of the fight scenes. It's Bayhem at its finest and most orange-tinted.Along the way, the trio dishes out fun facts, recasts that almost happened (Dana Carvey as Mike Lowry?!), and the messy origins of Bad Boys that somehow still gave us action movie gold. They even manage to connect it all to Dexter and Denny's. It's nostalgic chaos you don't want to miss. So grab a Coke and a smile and press play—because this episode is ride-or-die hilarious.·Season 5 Episode 13·—No More Late Fees https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com909-601-NMLF (6653)—Follow Us on Social:Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/nomorelatefees TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@nomorelatefees Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/nomorelatefeesYoutubehttps://www.youtube.com/@nomorelatefees Twitterhttps://x.com/NoMoreLateFees —CONQUERingmyconquering.com10% Off Code: JACKIE10—NostaBeautyhttps://nostabeauty.com 20% Off Code: NMLF—JamieInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/millennial_miseryhttps://www.instagram.com/hrbestiespodhttps://www.instagram.com/humorous_resourceshttps://www.instagram.com/the_chiefmemeofficerPrevious EpisodesAnchormanhttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/anchormanStay Classy Millennials: Ranking the Y2K Will Ferrell-versehttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/stay-classy-millennials-ranking-the-y2k-will-ferrell-verse

In this episode, Foss starts things off with a blown tire on the way to the studio, and somehow the chaos continues. The boys dive into the weirdness of working on the 4th of July while overseas support teams took the day off, reflect on family fireworks traditions, and talk about the dangers of celebrating in the wrong neighborhood. They react to the news of the final Fast & Furious film bringing back Paul Walker (CGI edition), and Scarlett Johansson officially becoming the highest-grossing actor ever. Then things get wild with Joey Chestnut's absurd eating records (RIP 12 pounds of asparagus), a Utah Domino's explosion that looked like a Michael Bay movie, and Rush Hour getting a Gen Z warning. But the mood turns heavy as they break down the heartbreaking Texas summer camp floods that left dozens dead—including heroic stories that deserve to be remembered. In this episode, Burning Bright and Chris Paul dissect Michael Bay's 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, blending film critique with a deeper exploration of the narratives surrounding the 2012 attack. They examine how the movie subtly undermines the official story, portraying the CIA not as saviors but as the true antagonists, hoarding information, obstructing help, and prioritizing their own cover-up over American lives. The discussion explores whether Ambassador Chris Stevens' death was a tragic accident or a deliberate assassination to bury evidence of weapons transfers and clandestine deals. They break down inconsistencies in the narrative, like the tidy explanation for Stevens' cause of death, the dubious claims of resource shortages, and the suspiciously well-prepared mortars that struck the annex. Through thoughtful analysis, they argue that incompetence is often a convenient cover for malice, and they challenge listeners to follow the trail of contradictions to see where it leads. With references to Hillary Clinton's infamous “What difference at this point does it make?” remark and the CIA's “heroism” awards, this episode pushes past surface-level hero worship to question whether the real story was hidden in plain sight.

The Black Lagoon manga is returning to production after another long hiatus and we finally know a little more about what's going on behind the scenes.Creator Hiroe Rei recently opened up to Comic Natalie on the struggles he's had with his mental health over the past 15 years. That struggle resulted in the manga going on hiatus after hiatus. With the upcoming return likely being another limited run before a break, we decided it's a great time to discuss the series and its background. And also ask the question: Is the outro sequence ripping off Twin Peaks???All this plus the latest anime news and our current watch list as the new anime season gets under way!Mental HealthIf you're struggling or just have something you need to talk about, know you're not alone. Flashdance (1983)—Dream Big or Go Home?In this energetic episode of The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast, hosts Krissy Lenz and Nathan Blackwell dive into the iconic 1983 film Flashdance. Neither had seen the movie before, leading to some surprising reactions as they examine this influential 80s classic through modern eyes.Nathan reveals how Flashdance became the progenitor of the Simpson-Bruckheimer production style that dominated 80s and 90s cinema, influencing everything from Top Gun to Dirty Dancing and Footloose. The hosts discuss how this $7.5 million film that grossed nearly $100 million established the MTV-style visual language that would later evolve into the Michael Bay aesthetic. While Krissy found herself disappointed by the movie overall (giving it just 5 out of 10 "bras removed through shirts"), both hosts agree that the dance sequences are electrifying highlights in an otherwise disjointed narrative. They examine the film's problematic message about dreams and failure—that one setback means you should abandon your ambitions altogether. The hosts also explore the complex portrayal of Alex (Jennifer Beals) as a young woman experiencing sexual awakening while making questionable emotional decisions, and discuss the fascinating behind-the-scenes facts about Marine Jahan, the uncredited dance double who performed most of the iconic dance sequences.Other Topics Covered:The problematic age gap between 18-year-old Alex and her 36-year-old boss/love interestThe contrast between burlesque dancing at Mawby's Bar versus stripping at the club across the streetThe film's impressive soundtrack filled with 80s bangersJennifer Beals' performance and her famous "bra removal through sweater" techniqueThe supporting characters' abandoned dreams and limited character developmentNathan's recommendation of All That Jazz (1979) for a more substantive dance filmKrissy's unexpected endorsement of welding as an empowering hobbyWhether you're revisiting this classic or discovering it for the first time, this episode offers fascinating insights into how Flashdance helped shape 80s cinema despite its narrative shortcomings. As the hosts remind us, sometimes the most influential films aren't necessarily the most cohesive—but they can still deliver unforgettable moments that stand the test of time. --We couldn't do this without your support of The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast! Alexis Garcia Alexis Garcia, born and raised in Miami, Florida, is an accomplished film producer, studio executive, and entrepreneur, widely recognized for his role in launching and scaling high-impact film ventures across the independent and studio landscape. He is the founder of CAT5, a turnkey production and financing company focused on high-concept, independently made action films, and co-founder of Brass Knuckle Films alongside acclaimed director Robert Rodriguez. Most recently, Garcia served as Head of Film at Fifth Season (formerly Endeavor Content), where he led the production and financing of over 40 films over 5 years. His portfolio includes major releases such as Ambulance (dir. Michael Bay), 80 for Brady (Paramount), The Peanut Butter Falcon (SXSW Audience Award), Monkey Man (dir. Dev Patel), The Long Game (SXSW Grand Jury Winner), Brawl in Cell Block 99 (starring Vince Vaughn), and The Lost Daughter (3 Academy Award nominations). In 2025, three of Garcia's movies reached audiences in a major way - A Working Man (Amazon/MGM, starring Jason Statham) opened #1 at the U.S. box office, Nonnas (Netflix) opened #1 on Netflix and became one of the platform's top titles of the year, and Friendship (SXSW premiere, starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd) opened as the year's top grossing limited theatrical release and was heralded as the return of the R rated cinematic comedy. Earlier, as a partner and agent at WME, Garcia helped package and sell hundreds of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, including Drive (Nicolas Winding Refn, starring Ryan Gosling), The Nice Guys (Shane Black, starring Gosling and Russell Crowe), and The Favourite (Yorgos Lanthimos). He also spearheaded strategic initiatives such as the creation of foreign sales company Bloom, and led Endeavor's expansion into China, brokering talent ventures (Sylvester Stallone, David Goyer, Russo Brothers) and co-production deals with major studios like Perfect World, Tencent, and Village Roadshow. Garcia began his career as an entertainment attorney before joining Endeavor in 2007, rising to become a partner and later helping spin out the agency's content arm into what became Endeavor Content. He played a pivotal role in the division's growth from a sales and service operation into a vertically integrated production studio, culminating in its acquisition by CJ ENM. A graduate of Vanderbilt University with a JD from UCLA School of Law, Garcia continues to drive innovation in film production by bridging traditional Hollywood models with cutting-edge audience engagement and alternative financing strategies. He and his family (Tracy, Noa, Ozi and Busta) are proud Coconut Grove residents, having moved from Los Angeles in August of 2021.

Welcome back, comic crusaders and digital daredevils! This week on Play Comics, we're diving into the gloriously chaotic world of Heavy Metal: Geomatrix for the Sega Dreamcast—a game that asks, “What if Heavy Metal magazine became a button-mashing arena brawler with enough explosions to make Michael Bay jealous?” Released by Capcom in 2001 and featuring the wild art of Simon Bisley, this four-player deathmatch extravaganza throws you into a 23rd-century future where VR-addicted humanity battles it out in submerged cities, all while capturing the magazine's signature blend of sci-fi, fantasy, and “did my mom just see that?” moments. Joining us for this high-octane journey through neo-cyberspace mayhem is none other than our beloved returning guest Billy – yes, the same mysterious internet hermit who graced us with his presence during our previous mecha-focused episodes covering Gundam Battle Assault 2 and Gundam Wing: Endless Duel. Billy's back to help us navigate the testosterone-fueled battlegrounds of teams like the 818 Stompers, 991 Elite, 707 Metal Heads, and 323 Agents, because apparently in the future, gang names are just random numbers followed by edgy nouns. So grab your favorite energy drink, prepare your best robot voice impressions, and settle in for another episode where we discover if this Dreamcast gem was a faithful adaptation or just an excuse to watch scantily-clad warriors duke it out with bazookas and laser swords in the name of preserving humanity. With Billy's expert commentary on all things giant robot-adjacent, this promises to be more entertaining than watching someone try to explain the plot of Heavy Metal magazine to their grandmother! Learn such things as: Can nano-technology make terrible character names sound cooler? Is it possible to have too many weapons in one arena, or is that just quitter talk? How many metal bands does it take to make a video game soundtrack truly “heavy”? And so much more! You can find Billy nowhere online because he's a hermit who hides out in those secret places of the internet that only we know about.
