The Canucks and Panthers have shared some superstar talent over their franchise histories. From Bure and Bert to Jovo and Luongo, these teams may be far apart on a map, but share a great history of players.
Ta maligna simbioza obuhvata finansije, medije, silu i kontrolu službe bezbednosti. To je kvartet koji uništava jednu zemlju. Ta naša nečastitost, ta naša prostitucija će dovesti do nestajanja Srba na ovim prostorima jer bez etike i morala nijedna nacija nije opstala”, dodaje Prelević.

Jovo, as you'll learn, is theoretically oriented, and enjoys the formalism of mathematics to approach questions that begin with a sense of wonder. So after I learn more about his overall approach, the first topic we discuss is the world's currently largest map of an entire brain... the connectome of an insect, the fruit fly. We talk about his role in this collaborative effort, what the heck a connectome is, why it's useful and what to do with it, and so on. The second main topic we discuss is his theoretical work on what his team has called prospective learning. Prospective learning differs in a fundamental way from the vast majority of AI these days, which they call retrospective learning. So we discuss what prospective learning is, and how it may improve AI moving forward. At some point there's a little audio/video sync issues crop up, so we switched to another recording method and fixed it... so just hang tight if you're viewing the podcast... it'll get better soon. 0:00 - Intro 05:25 - Jovo's approach 13:10 - Connectome of a fruit fly 26:39 - What to do with a connectome 37:04 - How important is a connectome? 51:48 - Prospective learning 1:15:20 - Efficiency 1:17:38 - AI doomerism
In hour three we look at what the Dolphins might be doing with Tua's contract and we are joined by former Panther Ed Jovanovski
Jovo joins the show to talk about what he saw in game 5 and how the Cats can still close out this series
In hour three we are joined by former Panther Ed Jovanovski, we discuss how incredible the turnaround of the Panther franchise has been, and how the Trevor Lawrence deal will impact Tua and the Dolphins
In hour three we preview Panthers Oilers with Jovo and is there concern with first round pick Chop Robinson?
Evo poslednje epizode podcast-a pod zaštitom Međunarodnog PEN centra, "Dobar loš zao" pred izbore drugog juna, a posle smak sveta.
In hour three we jump into some Dolphins talk with Chris Perkins, Ed Jovanovski on how the Cats can bounce back, and more from Pat Riley
Mark Tucker and Allen Firstenberg delve into the recent changes made by VoiceFlow. With Daylight Saving Time ending in the US last weekend, Mark and Allen figured it would be a good... time... to take a look at what date and time features are available to voice developers on Alexa, Alexa APL, Google Dialogflow, Google App Actions, and Jovo. Not to mention discussing the role of ISO-8601 date/time formats, JavaScript libraries such as Luxon, and why UTC isn't always the right time zone. With Google's Universal Analytics sunsetting, everyone is looking at what other tools are available to record user activity in our skills and chatbots. At Allen's suggestion, Mark had checked out the BigQuery service offered by Google Cloud Platform, and created a Jovo plugin to make it available for everyone. We discuss BigQuery and how to use it and this new plugin. Resources: https://www.jovo.tech/marketplace/analytics-bigquery https://cloud.google.com/bigquery
Mark's been on a roll recently, converting many of the utilities he's built as part of writing Amazon Alexa Skills and Google Assistant Actions into open source plugins for Jovo. This week, Mark and Allen discuss why these kinds of libraries are important, review Mark's latest plugin to generate random player names, and uses this as an example for how to build a plugin for Jovo.
Mark goes over the latest open source package that he's developed with his company, RAIN, for the #VoiceFirst community. This allows developers to build a CMS system using Sanity that provides content through Jovo. Allen and Mark discuss why these sorts of systems are important, how they improve Voice-based systems, and some future improvements to improve performance. Links: https://www.jovo.tech/marketplace/cms-sanity
Based on a question from StackOverflow, Allen and Mark explore the question about how to handle a #VoiceFirst scenario where the user needs to provide a list of several items one at a time (a food order, for example). If we're expecting the user to fill in a slot multiple times, or trigger an intent multiple times, before saying they're ready to move on - how do we make sure this intent gets handled over and over? Mark offers ways to handle this using Jovo and the Alexa Skills Kit, while Allen explores doing this with Dialogflow ES and CX, and ponders if Alexa Conversations will help.
As we do #VoiceFirst development for platforms such as Amazon Alexa and Actions on the Google Assistant, we often find patterns in how we should interact with users between sessions, and the information we need to store to keep track of these interactions. Mark continues demonstrating to Allen the next two tools in the library: a streak counter and a recharge counter. References: jovo.tech https://github.com/jovo-community/jovo-community-plugin-tools
As we do #VoiceFirst development for platforms such as Amazon Alexa and Actions on the Google Assistant, we often find patterns in how we should interact with users between sessions, and the information we need to store to keep track of these interactions. Mark shares with Allen a library he has begun for Jovo 4 to assist with some of these patterns and goes into detail about the first of these - a way to manage a randomized list of items so our visitors get a new item each time. In this episode we interview Alex aka Jovo who has been bartending for almost a year now and has really shared some great insight into how bartending has helped him sharpen his “soft skill” set which has carried over into his full time job. Also, Alex shares his thoughts on how bartending has been an amazing side hustle and how new bartenders or people looking to break into the field can do so with proper insight!
Real Kyper and Bourne are joined by former Panther & current broadcaster Ed Jovanovski who weighs in on why tonight is a must-win game for Florida, what areas of the ice they need to take advantage of, needing more from Jonathan Huberdeau, and the importance of forcing play to the middle of the ice (00:19). Later on, former NHL player, agent and executive Brian Lawton chats about his takeaways from the Rangers-Hurricanes series and Antti Raanta's play, before moving onto Toronto's asset allocation, if he believes they can win with this group, and the crop of free agents in the head coaching market (28:32). To wrap up, Nick, Justin and Sam discuss the possibility of major changes altering the look of this Maple Leafs roster, and hear from our new star of Kyper's Clippers Darryl Sutter (49:35). Jovo breaks down the Panther's game 1 loss and how they can bounce back
In the last episode, Mark demonstrated some of his work on Jovo that would lead towards a #VoiceFirst CMS integration, and Allen commented "now all you need is a UI to manage the content". This week - Mark delivers by exploring how to use Sanity.io, a "headless CMS" to build the UI that will feed into the configuration.
Ever have one of those weekends where you have a programming idea, and you just can't get it out of your head, so you decide to code it? We all have! Mark had some ideas for how to create a Content Management System (CMS) built on top of Jovo, and he had to call Allen to share the idea and some early experiments with it. Along the way, we discuss some of Jovo's core concepts and set the stage for a #VoiceFirst CMS.
With another week to ponder the implications (and implementation), Mark and Allen are both pretty excited to discuss some thoughts around what a #VoiceFirst CMS might look like and how it would work with the Actions for Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Specifically, we dig a little bit into what Multivocal and Jovo are currently doing to make things easier on developers and content creators and what more needs to be done.
When it comes to #VoiceFirst applications, we often say that "content is king". But creating great conversations are also part of the content, and require close collaboration between the content author, the conversation designer, and the developer. Frequently updating the content can make for a better Alexa skill or Google Assistant action, but could be complicated. Mark and Allen discuss how (and why) to make this easier using a voice-oriented Content Management System (CMS). Some products discussed: sanity.io Graph CMS Leximic multivocal Jovo
Allen and Mark continue their conversation about Content Management Systems in a #VoiceFirst world and how developers could use a CMS to both simplify their development, empower the content authors and conversation designers, and lower the cost of updating Google Assistant actions and Alexa skills. Some products discussed: sanity.io Graph CMS Leximic multivocal Jovo
Join the boys as they sit down and talk with former Markham Waxers, Huntsville Channel Cat, and Windsor Spitfire David Green. He tells us what it was like coming into wild training camps in Windsor at the age of 16, his time playing in The Barn (Windsor Arena), his time playing with DJ Smith, Jovo and others.
Keeping count of things, how often a user has asked for help or visited your skill/action, can be a useful tool conversation designers want. But how can you code that? And how do you report that value when you're talking to a user? Allen and Mark discuss several tips and tricks about how they keep track of counters using Jovo, multivocal, and other toolkits, and the best ways to present this information to your users.
Implementing "repeat" is one of the Intents that the review teams from both Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant require. But they don't really give guidance about how to design or implement that Intent. Mark and Allen discuss the various approaches that they take with the Alexa Skills Kit, Assistant Library, Jovo, and multivocal.

Did you notice some Actions were having problems last week? Allen and Mark certainly did! So this week, we're talking about what seems to have caused the outage, how this fits in to the overall storage capability for Actions, and how Alexa and Jovo approach session and user storage.
This week's roundtable discussion focuses on the top voice AI news from the first half of 2020. We, of course, talk about COVID-19 and how that is changing adoption patterns or the industry, smart speaker adoption figures, the voice app ecosystems and whether there is a voice app winter underway, and the rise of custom assistants, a shift to mobile and more. Guests this week include Theo Lau, founder of Unconventional Ventures, Katherine Prescott, founder of VoiceBrew, and Jan König, co-founder of Jovo.
Mark and Allen chat about tools we use to build conversations for Alexa and the Google Assistant. Ranging from new tools, such as Alexa Conversations and Google's Actions Builder, to more mature tools, such as Jovo and Dialogflow. We got so excited about the topic, we just couldn't stop! Yes. So yeah, my name's Ilarna and as Larry says, I am a senior software engineer at Matchbox. But I started off my voice journey, building apps after university, where I just wanted to get to know the voice industry. It was completely new and I really enjoyed it, mostly because I didn't have to design anything visually because that's where I lack in my skills. So just to have this application where you could basically create an application without any visual interaction, was something that really attracted me to the voice industry. And so I've made over 50, 70 applications on Amazon Alexa, and that's where it started off for me. Back then, Jan described Jovo's vision for a multi modal future, where the best interface is the closest interface you have to hand, whether that's your watch, your headphones, your speaker or you phone. And that the experience you have with your assistant should depend on the device you're using. Context should be carried across devices and modalities so that your experience remains personalised, yet tuned to the device you're using. In 2018, this was merely a vision. Google Assistant existed on Android and in a smart speaker and almost all design was contained to the audible conversation.Since then, Google Assistant has exploded. It's on over 1 billion devices of all shapes and sizes. Yes, it still runs on Android, and on Google's line of Nest smart speakers. But it's also now on iOS, on Nest Hub smart displays, car head units, headphones, smart home objects, watches, TVs, all in over 30 languages. And it's expanding into new environments with new languages seemingly every couple of month.Jan's vision has been brought to life by Google. How, then, does Google make sure that the experience of using Google Assistant is consistent across device types? How does a screen change the dynamics of the interaction? How does the context of someone being outside wearing headphones impact design choices? And how should the experience differ and grow over time? Then there's the fact that Google doesn't control where Google Assistant lives. Any manufacturer can put Google Assistant into any device and potentially create new contextual environments and new multi modal dynamics. How do you manage that?Daniel Padgett, Head of Conversation Design at Google, joins us on the show this week to explain.LinksConversation design guidance from GoogleGoogle's design principles at design.googleBooksWired for speech by Clifford Nass and Scott BraveThe man who lied to his laptop by Clifford NassDesigning voice user interfaces by Cathy PearlVoice user interface design by James Giangola and Jennifer Balogh See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

It's been a busy few weeks with both of the top two voice assistant platforms announcing new devices and software improvements, but what does it all mean for brands, designers and developers?Google Home Mini becomes top selling smart speakerThat's right, the Google Home Mini smart speaker outsold all other smart speakers in Q2.Google's intense advertising over the summer months looks like it could be starting to pay off. It still isn't the market leader. Amazon still holds that spot, for now.Takeaway:At the beginning of this year, Google Assistant was a nice-to-have feature in your voice strategy. Google's progress over the summer and the recent sales of the Google Home Mini now mean that obtaining a presence on Google Assistant is unavoidable for brands looking to make serious play in this space. We discuss whether you should use a tool like Jovo for developing cross-platform voice experiencesor whether you should build natively.Dustin's pro tip:If you need access to new feature updates as and when they're released, you should build natively. If you're happy to wait, use something like Jovo.Google rumoured to be launching the Google Home HubIt's rumoured that Google will be releasing a smart display to rival the Amazon Echo Show.In the podcast, we said that this will go on sale in October. That's not the case. The actual sale date hasn't been announced yet.Takeaway:With more voice assistants bringing screens into the equation, designing and developing multi modal experiences is going to be an increasing area of opportunity over the next year.Google becomes multi-lingualGoogle announced multi-lingual support for Google Assistant. That means that you can speak to the Assistant in a different language and have it respond back to you in that language without having to change the language settings. This is a great feature for households that speak more than one language.Takeaway:Although this might not be widely used initially, this is a great step forward in providing a frictionless user experience for those who speak more than one language. For brands, this brings the necessity to internationalise your voice experiences closer to home.Check out the podcast we did with Maaike Dufour to learn more about how to transcreate and internationalise your voice experience.Amazon announces about a million Alexa devicesAmazon announced a whole host of Alexa enabled deviceslast week, including:Echo Dot V2 and Echo Plus V2A new Echo Show (with a 10 inch screen)Echo Auto (for the car)Echo Sub (a subwoofer)Fire TV Recast (a TV set top box)An Alexa-injected microwaveA clock, with Alexa built inEcho Input (turns any speaker into a smart speaker)A Ring security cameraA smart plugAn ampTakeaway:These new devices, whether they succeed or fail, present opportunities for brands, designers and developers in that they provide an insight into a user's context. That can help you shape an experience based around that context. For example, you can now target commuters with long form audio through Alexa while they're driving. You can provide micro engagement through Alexa while your customer is cooking their rice. This could be the beginnings of the 'Alexa Everywhere' movement, which will be laden with opportunities for those who seek to understand where users are and what they're seeking to achieve at that time.Alexa Presentation LanguageThe Alexa Presentation Languageallows you to design and develop custom visuals to enhance your user's screen-accompanying Alexa experience.Until now, if you wanted to serve visuals on an Echo Spot or Echo Show, you'd have to use one of 7 design templates. This announcement means that you can create your own designs and even do things like sync visual transitions with audio and, in future, there'll be support for video and HTML 5.Takeaway:As with many of the items in this week's Rundown, there's an increasing emphasis on multi-modal experiences. Over the next year or so, expect more voice + screen devices. This will mean that you'll need to start thinking about how you can add value through visuals as part of your offering.Kane's pro tip:Even though there are more options for voice + screen, still focus on creating voice-first experiences. Don't let the screen take over. Lead with voice and supplement or enhance with visuals.Alexa smart screen and TV device SDKThis announcementenables device manufacturers to create hardware with a screen that runs Alexa. For example, Amazon will announce the details of how Sony have used the SDK to add Alexa capability to their TVs.Takeaway:For hardware brands, you can now add Alexa to your products. For the rest of us, watch this space. This is yet further evidence to suggest that voice + screen experiences are going to be something users come to expect in future.Introducing the Alexa Connect Kit (ACK)ACK allows device manufacturers to add Alexa to their hardwarewithout having to worry about creating a skill or managing cloud services or security.Essentially, you can add an ACK module to your device, connect it to your micro controller and hey presto, you have an Alexa enabled device. It's the same thing Amazon used to build their new microwave.Takeaway:Another opportunity for hardware brands to add value to your product line and another signal that Alexa will potentially be spreading further and wider. If you haven't thought about how this might impact your business and the opportunities you might find in future, this is a good time to start that thought process. Two final Alexa announcements:Whisper mode, which enables a user to whisper at Alexa and it'll whisper back.Hunch, which is Alexa's first move to become proactive in suggesting things you might want to do based on previous behaviour.Takeaway:In unclear whether either of these things require developers to markup their skills for this in any way or whether Alexa will take care of everything for you. Finally, BixbyBixby will be opening up for public Beta in November after a few months in private beta. There was a webinar this week, exclusive to the private beta members, which included a host of announcements. I'm still trying to get hold of the webinar or someone who can shed some light on it and we'll try and bring you further news on this on the next Rundown. Jan König is co-founder and CEO of Jovo, the maker of an open source, context-first development framework. Context here refers to the device type such as smart speaker, smartphone, television, tablet and the like. The theory is that developers need to have centralized logic that can serve users across numerous devices with different underlying operating systems and across modes such as voice, visual, audio, video and text. Jovo has started with tools to support Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice app developers and expanded into multimodal user experiences. Jan offers an update on what has happened over the past year since he appeared on Voicebot Podcast Ep 13. The interview was conducted on location at Voice Summit 2018.

This week, we’re digging into how you can create an Alexa Skill using BotTalk and we give you a template for running a voice first discovery workshop, with SmartHaus Technologies CEO and BotTalk co-founder, Andrey Esaulov. We discuss the importance of starting with a solid use case and how imperative it is to base your voice app on a real-world scenario that’ll add value to your users. What turns an average voice experience into an EPIC voice experience? Send us your answers and you could feature on the VUX World Flash Briefing this week!We then dive deep into the practical detail of how to approach designing a voice first user experience with BotTalk and find out more about the language it’s built in: YAML. We discuss what BotTalk is, how it’s different from some of the other tools on the market, how it works, it’s features and how you can get up and running. Finally, Andrey takes us through a voice first discovery workshop template that he uses with clients in order to take a brand from zero to hero: from ideation to prototype, and how you can do the same too.We also traverse some other interesting conversational landscapes such as the concept of skill-first companies: brands that pop up as skills which are the core of the business, like an app is for Instagram. We chat about Artificial Intelligence and how intelligent it actually is in the voice first space. We touch on managing client expectations, monetisation and how voice is making waves in Germany.About BotTalkThe current selection skill building tools on the market are at opposite ends of the technical spectrum. Some tools require you to know how to code from the ground-up, like Jovo and be a skilled back-end developer. Others have a drag and drop interface and don’t require any coding at all, like Storyline.BotTalk bridges the gap between those two worlds with a tool that’s aimed at UX designers who have some basic coding knowledge, like HTML and CSS. It provides some of the technical capability you’d expect if you built something from scratch, whilst providing a more simple coding language: YAML. Think of it as HTML for voice. Our GuestAndrey Esaulov is the CEO of SmartHaus Technologies, which specialise in growth hacking in the mobile space, and the co-founder of BotTalk, a voice first and bot application building platform.Andrey has a computer science background, with expensive experience in the start up world and mobile growth space, as well as a PhD in Linguistics and Literacy.Andrey’s skillset is a perfect match for this industry and his knowledge in this area is vast. Couple his computer science and linguistics knowledge with his skills in working with clients and delivering growth and you’ve got a perfect recipe for success.LinksCheck out BotTalkFollow Andrey on TwitterJoin the BotTalk Facebook communityFollow BotTalk on InstaWatch the BotTalk tutorials on YouTubeVisit the Smarthaus Technologies websiteJoin the Alexa Slack channelEnable the VUX World Flash BriefingFeature on this week's Flash BriefingWhere to listeniTunes/Apple podcastsSpotifyStitcherTuneIniHeartRadioPippaAny other podcast player you use or ask Any Pod to play V.U.X.
