An interesting show this week as we look at the hot-button documentary NO ONE ASKED YOU with writer/director RUTH LEITMAN; a doc that is not only timely but should be mandatory viewing with elections looming. And we'll take a look at THINGS WILL BE DIFFERENT with writer/director MICHAEL FELKER; a film that's a thriller, with a touch of noir, along with some supernatural sci-fi-esque elements and disbelief. First up, you'll hear my exclusive interview with writer/director MICHAEL FELKER as he discusses his new film, THINGS WILL BE DIFFERENT. Michael is a wonderful director who thrives on storytelling detail and using all cinematic tools in the toolbox. A very enlightening and informative interview as we dive into all of those tools and how Michael used them to bring this film to life. Then writer/director RUTH LEITMAN joins us at the midpoint of the show in discussing her new documentary NO ONE ASKED YOU which deals with one of the hottest-button topics this election cycle – abortion. NO ONE ASKED YOU turns the cameras on the day-to-day health care providers who put themselves in jeopardy in service to women seeking abortions, as told through the eyes of comedienne Lizz Winstead (co-founder of "The Daily Show"), fellow comedians and activists, and the Abortion Access Front in a six-year journey around the country taking us up through the Dobbs decision and where we stand now. Opening our eyes to multiple aspects of the abortion situation, including media neglect, together Leitman and Winstead use humor as a powerful tool to educate and entertain. http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
Stu Pollard, a writer, director, and producer of films, talks about the 2024 Flyover Film Festival and director Ruth Leitman discusses her film "No One Asked You" which is one of the many films playing this weekend at the Speed Art Museum...
Today marks two years since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade — triggering a Louisiana law that bans nearly all abortions. That's had major implications for women's health in the state. WWNO/WRKF public health reporter Rosemary Westwood has covered the fallout of the ban. She takes stock of where we're at two years after the end of federally protected abortion rights. Director, filmmaker and activist Ruth Leitman's new documentary, "No One Asked You," tells the story of Jackson Women's Health, the former clinic at the center of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization; and the Pink House Defenders, the group of volunteers who helped care for patients entering and exiting the clinic. The Gulf States Newsroom's Maya Miller sat down with Leitman to talk about the process of filming the documentary over seven years, her experience at The Pink House and more. Most know “40 acres and mule” as a promise of reparations — broken by the U.S. government — to formerly enslaved people after the Civil War. But that's not the full story. In a recent investigation, reporters examined the largest collection of land titles from that program ever to be analyzed. Center for Public Integrity reporter April Simpson tells us how the team found that more than 1,200 newly freed men and women actually did receive land — only to have it taken away. ___Today's episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Karen Henderson. Our managing producer is Alana Schrieber. Matt Bloom and Aubry Procell are assistant producers. Our engineer is Garrett Pittman. You can listen to Louisiana Considered Monday through Friday at 12 and 7 p.m. It's available on Spotify, Google Play and wherever you get your podcasts. In another case they opined that “Adam Leitman Bailey fought on…grinding through excruciating detail and obscure Perry Mason moments".So What Drives Adam Leitman Bailey, Helping to Make His Firm The Success That It is?In his own words, 'Every day is productive. If I am in court, I am either arguing for a client or conducting a trial, and any free time constitutes calling or emailing clients or working on case strategy. At night, many times I have board or client meetings.''I treat every client like the most important client in the world. I went into a field that started booming the year I entered it. I had built a skill set made perfectly for the tough NYC market and the clients wanted an aggressive lawyer. As the business grew, I knew that I needed to hire people better than me. So, I did — over and over and over again, I hired the most talented lawyers without regard to race, sex, creed or nationality and thereby built a naturally diverse and capable team.'Reach Adam Leitman Bailey by email at alb@alblawfirm.com.Visit the firm's website here: https://alblawfirm.com/___________________________________________________Do you have a great story to tell? Are you interested in appearing as a guest on the Do You Ever Wonder podcast? Storytelling is an enthralling art form that functions as a potent tool for connection and communication. Essentially, storytelling is the craft of telling stories by combining language, feelings, and creativity to entertain, inform, or elicit a certain reaction from the listener. Margot Brett Leitman Curry, a storyteller, started with stand-up comedy for six years in New York City and was a theater enthusiast in college. She began telling one true story as the full set and later assumed a new position where she teaches people about pitching and selling at the university. She won a storytelling contest on one-story connections in a variety show. A few weeks later, she competed in a narrative contest about good food. A co-storyteller of hers shared a similar story, but instead of performing it, she chose to use her previous "terrible" narrative that had gone viral a few weeks prior, and she won. She believes that storytelling is vital to presentation, as people connect more with stories than facts. Surrounding facts with a story while presenting something enhances the impact. She shared some stories about how to manage your audience, one of which is Steve Jobs's backpocket story. In the iPhone launch, he experienced a technical malfunction, and his slide presentation failed. Instead of leaving the audience, he shared a funny story from his youth, and by the time the malfunction was resolved, he continued. The art of storytelling spans many genres and mediums, from interactive media and novels to podcasts, movies, and traditional oral storytelling passed down through generations. For Margot, understanding the audience is crucial. Learning to discern the audience's mood—whether they prefer something more serious or funny—is important. The story must be true, as people can sense authenticity. "You may not be the most special in the world, but what you can be is relatable to your audience. Have your audience tap into you and see themselves through your story," is her solid foundation in storytelling.
Director Ruth Leitman's NO ONE ASKED YOU, focuses her camera on the day-to-day health care providers who risk their own safety in service to the women seeking an abortion. As well as the powerful political and religious interests seeking to deny them access to a constitutionally guaranteed right by the Roe v. Wade decision. A civil right to privacy that had stood for 50 years, lost after the US Supreme Court's Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision. With the conservative movement conspiring to take away healthcare and bodily autonomy from all, “Daily Show” co-creator Lizz Winstead brings us on the road with Abortion Access Front and her merry band of activists and comedians, that includes Sarah Silverman. Margaret Cho, Alex English, and Joyelle Johnson, as they crisscross the U.S. to support abortion clinics and providers. An urgent and humorous account of the serious work that this audacious group of activists are doing to battle misogyny and fight for reproductive rights in a divided country. Director Ruth Leitman (Lipstick & Dynomite, Hard Earned) joins us for a conversation on the challenges of filming on the road for nearly six years and getting to know the dedicated doctors, clinic workers and volunteers has given her reasons to be guardedly optimistic about the future of women's access to the full range of reproductive health care. Today's guest is a seasoned retail professional turned serial entrepreneur and inventor. Jeff Leitman is the Founder & CEO of Killer Concepts & Rocksteady Corp. Jeff shared how to create variations of the same parent product, how to use bundles to launch new products, and what changes to Amazon FBA mean for sellers looking to grow internationally. Takeaways:By creating a landing page with multiple ASINs and then driving traffic to that site, you can increase your conversions and Amazon will reward your brands for bringing outside traffic to Amazon. Create bundles of “child” SKUs of the same product under the same “parent” SKU to add variations to your Amazon listings. These bundles can be sold under a separate ASIN.The products in your bundles need to be related in some way. You won't drive sales by throwing together assortments of random products. You need to be intentional and methodical when you create your product bundles. The reviews of a “parent” product will show up on the listing for the “child” SKUs under it. Because of this, it's very helpful to introduce a brand-new product as part of a bundle because there will already be reviews attached to the SKU. Selling on Amazon is complicated. It's much more effective to find a partner that specializes in Amazon than it is to try to learn everything yourself and stay on top of all of the constant updates Amazon makes.Amazon will be adding the ability for FBA sellers to fulfill orders from the US, Canada, and Mexico all from the same FBA center. This makes it easier for Amazon sellers to expand into those foreign markets without incurring separate shipping costs. Two of the most important metrics to track and analyze are your page traffic and conversion rate. These inform you as to how effective your efforts are to drive traffic and then convert that traffic. Zalma's Insurance Fraud Letter Volume 26 Issue 1 https://zalma.com/blog The first issue of the twenty sixth year of publication is available as an Adobe .pdf document at with this issue and the December 15, 2021 issues of ZIFL here. The issue includes the following articles but you must go here to read the full articles and the full 24 page issue of Zalma's Insurance fraud Letter. State Farm & Allstate Fight Fraudsters With Qui Tam Suits It Is Essential That Insurers Are Proactive Against Insurance Fraud Insurance companies are the victims of billions of dollars every year from insurance fraudsters. They have found that states and police agencies are either unable or unwilling to prosecute those who defraud insurers. In The People ex rel. State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company v. Sonny Rubin et al., G059509, California Court of Appeals, Fourth District, Third Division (December 14, 2021) State Farm has taken proactive steps by filing qui tam suits based on the California Insurance Fraud Protection Act (IFPA) that allows qui tam plaintiffs to file lawsuits on the government's behalf and seek monetary penalties against perpetrators of insurance fraud. Insurance Fraud Perpetrators are Annoying People who commit insurance fraud believe that it is a crime without punishment because no one is hurt except an insurance company. They are wrong but refuse to accept the fact. As an example of how annoying an insurance criminal can be is Steve Ellis Karacson v. David Shaver, No. 21-12100, United States District Court, E.D. Michigan, Southern Division (November 23, 2021) who filed a pro se petition for writ of habeas corpus. Steve Ellis Karacson, (“Petitioner”), pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254, challenges his conviction for insurance fraud and arson of an insured dwelling. Petitioner previously filed a petition for writ of habeas corpus before Judge Matthew F. Leitman which challenged the same conviction. The petition was held in abeyance while Petitioner exhausted additional claims in the state courts [Karacson v. Shaver, No. 4:20-CV-13100 (E.D. Mich. May 27, 2021)] Petitioner moved for Judge Leitman to reopen that case, claiming that he has now exhausted his state court remedies. Petitioner subsequently filed the instant petition, in which he again seeks habeas relief from the conviction that he challenged in the active petition before Judge Leitman. One of my favorite quotes from Kobe Bryant: "How can your story impact others? The definition of greatness is to inspire people next to you. How can you inspire one person then turn to inspire another person. Our challenge is for people, to figure out how our story can impact others, to motivate them to create greatness in others. - Kobe Bryant. Adam Leitman Bailey may have a brash facade, he's been written up in the NY Post, NY Times, & Huffington Post, perhaps not always as a hero, but to play on the team he's hired to protect. Adam's story may inspire a few of you, as we dive into his younger years of his rough childhood, being a passenger of a terrible car accident, the growing pains he's faced as a young adult. We then go into present date, where he shares his tremendous success story of suing Donald & Ivanka Trump, & representing Linda Mackelowe in the most expensive divorce case in US history. Our listeners will a sense of how he's built a firm that has experienced systemic success over the course of the last two decades. This is a great one and definitely worth a listen! (read about his bio below) Bio: Adam is one of the most distinguished real estate attorneys in America. Born in Bayside Queens, he moved to California at the age of five, and later moved back to NJ where he graduated with honors from Rutgers, then obtained his law degree from Syracuse University College of Law. Adam is an author of NYT’s best seller Finding The Uncommon Deal.”, he was selected by the Chambers & Partners publication as NY’s leading RE lawyers, and was named Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine. Adam has a long list of notable cases, but to mention a few he’s represented Developer Sharif El Gamal, who proposed an Islamic mosque & cultural center near the ground zero site, where his opponents were the families affected by 9/11, politicians, and conservative media pundits.

What are some things we need to know about electric cars and the future of renewable energy? What does it take to scale our audience size into the millions, so that we can inspire and engage with more people with our work? Our guest today is Seth Leitman of Green Living Guy – an expert on electric cars and renewable energy who's worked for the state of New York on green energy and who writes about LED green lighting, indoor air quality, alternative-fueled vehicles, and more. Let's dive in. HIGHIGHTS: [7:52] How Seth has managed to balance creating helpful content for people while also making money. [8:59] Seth: "Just keep showing up. Find one thing in particular that you're an expert in and focus on it. And then from there, everything else becomes obvious." [9:39] Kaméa: "What's been the key to Green Living Guy really taking off and becoming a leader in this space?" [12:20] Kaméa: "What's something most people don't know about electric cars that we should know?" [16:27] What Seth thinks is our biggest roadblock today to transitioning to renewable energy on a national and global scale. [18:04] How investing in solar energy for your home or business can actually save instead of cost you money. Thanks for bringing your light! Joseph Leitman-Santa Cruz tells the story of his transition to CAAB and the power of the EITC Campaign to engage DC residents and low-income people nationally in creating a voice and a financial future. #Advocacy!
Comic Margot Leitman spilled the story behind "Long Story Short", her new book about storytelling (she's one of America's best!), Jeremiah Watkins (Just For Laughs fest, Comedy Store regular, Thunder Pussy podcast) and Dave Merheje (Just for Laughs fest) all teamed up with guest hosts Jen Murray and Paul McKewn plus regular Grown-Ass Man Ed Galvez for two hours of hilarity that will make you lose your job or get kicked out of starbucks for laughing too loud. They take on Pizza Rat, the new "SNL" cast and writers, and infinitely more!

Margot Leitman, amazing author and storyteller joins us to share a story about growing up awkward, gawky and on vacation in the Bahamas. All of this, through a John Hughes filter. We had a great show in Chicago last week, helped IMPACT and entertained our friends in the windy city! Thanks to IMPACT, Northwestern and The Laugh Factory!

Gawky: Tales of an Extra Long Awkward Phase (Seal Press) Some tall girls grow up to have perfect posture and are later seen gracing the pages of magazines. Some are natural athletes with toned legs that mask their overlarge feet. Then there are "other" tall girls: the ones who are always tripping over themselves; who never look normal in any size of clothing; who literally don't fit in. Comedian Margot Leitman was one of these awkward giants, and "Gawky" is the painfully funny chronicle of her experiences growing up tall. Reaching five feet six inches in fourth grade--and approaching six feet in high school--Leitman realized early on that she'd always stand out from the crowd. To cope, she developed a thick skin and a sharp sense of humor, and instead of forever trying to blend in, she decided to embrace her center-of-attention status. Leitman wears funky, Ziggy Stardust-era jumpsuits (in the 90s); takes up any cause she can find (whether saving the public beaches or protesting prom); and generally makes as much use of her big presence as humanly possible. Leitman's memoir is a hilarious celebration of growing up gangly. Endearing and encouraging, "Gawky" is a cathartic release of everything awkward girls endure--and a tribute to a youth larger than life. "If Judy Blume and Chelsea Handler had a baby, and that baby was a book, it would be "Gawky.""--Rachel Dratch Margot Leitman's humorous, autobiographical writing has been published in Playgirl Magazine and The NY Press, as well as online at LifetimeTV.com, theFrisky.com, CollegeHumor.com, and 236.com (the comedy division of the Huffington Post). Her former monthly column, “From Behind the Bar,” was a reminiscence of bartending at the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre and was featured multiple times on Comedy Central Insider, BrooklynVegan.com, and Gawker. She is a regular monologist at Assscat (UCB Theatre's long running improv show hosted by Amy Poehler), Heeb Magazine's Storytelling, Moonwork, Jill Soloway's Sit N Spin, and Comedy Central's Crash Mansion, among others. In 2012, Margot was nominated for an ECNY Award (Excellence in Comedy, NY) for “Best Storyteller.” Margot Leitman lives in Los Angeles. Visit her online at MargotLeitman.com.
