248 – Have you ever heard someone talk about Jesus in a way that just didn't quite fit with what was in the Bible? Or maybe you read a book or saw a movie or a play about Jesus that either fell short of capturing the true essence of Jesus or it kind of stretched the truth and over-exaggerated things? Recently in Season 4 of "The Chosen," there was a scene where Jesus made no effort to heal Ramah, when Thomas asked him to and openly confessed his faith that Jesus could heal her.And back in Season 3, Jesus explains to Little James, one of the twelve disciples, why he wasn't going to heal him. This is not the Jesus I believe in.There's nothing in the Bible that describes Jesus ever acting this way. Now, don't get me wrong. I love The Chosen. I've been deeply inspired by the show, but when it depicts Jesus in a way that's inconsistent with what the Bible reveals about Jesus, I have a hard time swallowing the story line. That's what this week's episode is all about:Is God sometimes willing to heal but not other times? Is God always able to heal or not?Was Jesus unable or unwilling to heal on some occasions? How does it affect the way you pray if you believe God might choose not to heal you or cannot heal you?No matter what others say about who Jesus is or what he does, always come back to the Bible to find him. Don't take The Chosen's version of Jesus. Don't accept a preacher's version of Jesus. Don't take the Church's traditionalized view of Jesus without coming back to the Bible. When you do find Jesus in the Bible, you will find the Jesus you can follow and believe in.Previous episode mentioned:Episode 29: Is It Ever God's Will You Are NOT Healed When You Pray? Ep. 90 The Chosen: Best of Episodes with Dallas Jenkins, Jonathan Roumie, Noah James, and Jordan Walker Ross ABOUT THIS PODCAST:The fourth season of "The Chosen" is now showing in theaters across the country. Previous episodes of The Paul Cardall Podcast have featured Dallas Jenkins, the creator, writer, and director of this widely acclaimed biblical series. Guests also included Jonathan Roumie, who portrays Jesus; Noah James, playing Andrew; and Jordan Walker Ross, in the role of Little James. In the podcast's 90th episode, listeners will enjoy highlights from Paul's interviews with these actors and the director, conducted over the course of seasons one through three. Listen to the full episodes with Dallas Jenkins (Director)Jonathan Roumie (Jesus)Noah James (Andrew)Jordan Walker Ross (Little James) ABOUT THE CHOSENThe Chosen is an American Christian historical drama television series. Created, directed, and co-written by filmmaker Dallas Jenkins, it is the first multi-season series about the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. Primarily set in Judaea and Galilee in the 1st century, the series centers on Jesus and the different people who met and followed or otherwise interacted with him. The series stars Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, alongside Shahar Isaac, Elizabeth Tabish, Paras Patel, Noah James, and George H. Xanthis. After Jenkins noted there had never been a multi-season, episode-based portrayal of Jesus that could be "binge-watched" like shows on streaming mediums such as Netflix, he set out to create the series in partnership with Angel Studios, formerly VidAngel. With the intention of differing from previous portrayals of Jesus, he crafted a story arc which focused more on the people who encountered Jesus and viewed him through their eyes. He has stated in interviews that he sought to present Jesus in a way that was more "personal, intimate, [and] immediate"The show's producers have primarily used crowdfunding on the Angel Studios platform to finance production, and it continues to be the most successful crowdfunded TV series or film project. Additional revenue comes through licensing to other streaming platforms and TV networks, such as Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, and Netflix. Merchandise and video sales provide additional sources of revenue, as have limited premiere runs in cinemas. The show has been further adapted into a series of novels by Jenkins's father, author Jerry B. Jenkins, a series of graphic novels by Corvus Comics, and companion Bible study materials published by David C. Cook.According to a 2022 analysis commissioned by the show's producers, 108 million had seen at least part of the show through the app and streaming platforms. Translation into as many as 600 languages is being funded by the Come and See Foundation. PAUL'S MUSIC & SOCIAL MEDIAhttp://www.paulcardall.comhttp://www.facebook.com/paulcardallmusichttp://www.instagram.com/paulcardall Show your support by subscribing to the podcast. Are you one of the many thousands tuning into the Netflix series The Chosen? The multi-season series tells the life and ministry of Jesus and the people he encountered throughout his life. Set in the times of Roman oppression in Palestine, we learn about Mary Magdalene, Thaddeus, Little James, the fishermen, Simon, Andrew, Big James and John; who they were and who they became when they followed the Messiah. Season 4 is out now to widespread acclaim and that led us to think, what impact, if any, do great Biblical dramas have beyond their entertainment value or are they a priceless way to propagate the Gospels in a modern age? From the 10 Commandments, Jesus of Nazareth to the Greatest Story Ever Told, there's a plethora of great and not so great cinema and tv dramas - so do they make a difference? Presenter Claire Graham in conversation with academic Dr Leon Litvack from Queen's University, avid filmgoer Liz Kennedy, Moravian minister Reverend Dr Livingstone Thompson, and situation comedy writer and lay preacher James Cary.

Did you know that you are chosen by God? He knows the number of hairs on your head. He is your Father in Heaven. And He is moving in the world in a BIG way with the hugely popular tv series, The Chosen. The first tv series about the life of Jesus and His disciples. Today on Strong By Design, hosts Jared Haley and Chris Wilson talk about their favorite moments and characters on the hit show. God loves you so much that He gave His One and only Son to you as a gift of salvation. And if you believe in Him, you will never perish but have everlasting life. That's from John 3:16 That's right, in Jesus you have eternal life. Jesus answered, “I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 If there's one thing in this episode on SBD we would like for you to remember, it's that Jesus chose you. He died for you. He is always there, waiting for you to seek Him and be in relationship with Him. He loves you deeply and He will never leave you. “I want people to understand, especially as new believers, that our goal is not to see how close we can get to the line without crossing. Our goal is to run from the line, and so our boundary can't be like inches from the line; we want to be miles and miles away.” – Jared Haley   Time Stamps   01:04 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design' podcast 1:55 - Hosts Chris Wilson & Jared Haley on why you should watch 'The Chosen' 11:54 - Discover the scripture that Jared missed despite knowing the BIBLE for years 15:57 - Religion vs Relationship: The internal struggle of Nicodemus 21:49 - Who is Little James? 24:55 - Jared & Chris recount how Jesus appointed His disciples to spread the words of Jesus 27:13 - Why Mary Magdalene is called Lilith in 'The Chosen'? 30:13 - The importance of setting boundaries to keep you from moral failure 38:00 - Jared & Chris recounts the encounter between Jesus and the Samaritan woman 43:04 - The ULTIMATE fall for People: Sex, Money, and Power 46:49 - Matthew in 'The Chosen': Why his disability matters 50:37 - Chris recounts how Jonathan Roumie portrays 'Jesus' in 'The Chosen' perfectly 53:52 - How did Jesus interact with children? 1:03:40 - Where you can go to watch the Christian series, 'The Chosen'   Resources: Angel.com   Connect w/ Jared & Chris: Jared's Instagram Chris's Instagram    Connect w/ CriticalBench:  Youtube Facebook Instagram CriticalBench.com StrongByDesignPodcast.com

About Jordan Walker Ross Jordan is an actor (THE CHOSEN), screenwriter and host of the podcast “What's Your Limp?” Jordan has Cerebral Palsy and Scoliosis and by the age of 7, he had already undergone half a dozen major surgeries, including a full spinal fusion, and had several near death experiences. He discovered his love for acting at the age of 6 and spent the vast majority of his career being told no and having casting directors, agents, directors, etc. telling him to “lose the limp”. However, it was that very limp - the things Jordan was most insecure about - that led him to his most fulfilling and successful role yet - playing Little James on The Chosen. Now, Jordan is determined to use his platform as an actor and his podcast, What's Your Limp?, to help others learn to love their own “limps” and to use them to their advantage, rather than perceiving them as flaws or weaknesses. To see these pictures please visit the UPPAA Youtube channel or visit Joanna Walitalo's website to see more. https://jwalitalowoodburning.com/  https://youtu.be/DixKE7do3pM  JOANNA WALITALO grew up in Oil City, Michigan where she took art classes at Bullock Creek Schools taught by Mr. Matherne and Mr. Myers; both very talented artists, and teachers with endless patience. She earned a BS degree in Biology and Environmental Studies from Central Michigan University, and took art classes at the Midland Center for the Arts, where she had the opportunity to study under Armin Mersmann. While studying at CMU, she took art classes form Dietmar Krumrey II and Michael Volker. From there, she moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where she earned a Master of Forestry at Michigan Technological University. A strong love of the outdoors, and wild places, has led her to incorporate her passion for art with her professional education in order to bring the beauty of wildlife and wild places closer to the general public through scientifically accurate artwork. By far, the artist that influenced Joanna the most throughout her life has been her mom, Barb Rogers, who taught art at Coleman Middle School, MI, for many years, and always encouraged and guided Joanna to incorporate art into all her endeavors. Today, Joanna continues to live with her loving husband James, and son Little James, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, working as an artist and illustrator. "The art book is divided into chapters of Early Work, Wildlife (birds, trees and flowers, other wildlife, fish) Portraits and people, Pets (often commissioned and more dogs than cats), Puzzles, Mystic, as well as “spotlights” on people who influenced the art. One quickly sees that this artist has a wonderful style that she applies to a wide variety of topics. Her realism and attention to detail lets us see moods and personality in the eyes of her subjects—human or otherwise. While she may do several variations of one subject or theme, each is unique in terms of details and the type of wood used.

He says he's much shorter than the average person [5'4”] so his physical differences have negatively impacted his opportunities as an actor. He's been told by directors to" lose the limp" and has been cut from productions because it was too noticeable. The Chosen director Dallas Jenkins noticed Jordan's disability during his audition and later on set after Jordan was cast as one of the 12 Apostles Jenkins asked Jordon if he could write his disability into his role.
